October was Ellie's least favorite month. It was the month where summer really did start to fade and the cold nights became unbearable without a heavy jacket. It also marked the end of another year for Ellie with her birthday very early in the month. The second month of school seemed endless with a lack of break for Christmas was still so far off, not to mention the Halloween mischief that started the second October was muttered, which not only kept Ellie busy, but it was quickly wearing her out as she quickly became a nazi headgirl.
Ellie laughed at the idea of time to herself. Every time she finished her homework, or decided to sit for a second, it seemed that a second year decided to set off a dungbomb in her presences, or a three years ears were shrinking, or a fifth year drank a love potion. It seemed as though the school was always in a active mode to drive her insane. Maybe it had always been like this, but Ellie had just never noticed it before now, before the badge on her robes seemed so heavy.
The thought of last year and the strange things that had been going on had been forced from Ellie's mind. She was almost grateful for the lack of time she had to think about it. She wasn't sure she could bear for Dan to be on her mind all the time without the hope of seeing him. Dan has faded away, and though her heart seemed to beat at a dull pace because of it, time was fading, and Ellie couldn't stop for someone who had no concept of time with his regained youth. Dan had brought Ellie out a world of time, but now in his absence, time seemed to tick harder, faster, and louder in Ellie's ear.
This was the reason she was sitting here now. Her back was up against a wooden door, her bottom placed on the cold stone floor that covered the whole castle. Her robes had been crumpled into a ball and shoved inside her bag which leaned up against the wall beside her. Her converse touched toes as her knees were tucked up. Her jeans were ripped, and her flanel shirt was itchy, but keep the dampness of the castle out of her bones.
Her she was waiting for Professor Daniel Hubbles. The door she was leaning up against was his office door. Ellie twiddled her thumbs as she waited for him. She decided that time enough had passed without her talking to him. Her obvious avoidance of him had been painful. But now, she needed his family like advice. She needed his guidance. She needed him to sort through her head and salvage what he could before she exploded and all was lost.

Nightshifts where the bane of Dan’s life as Headmaster he had so much to do during the day having to spend half the night awake was normally impossible and made waking up at 7am after two hours of sleep a complete pain in the behind. Last night had been a long one, he had caught a load of fourth year Slytherin’s out in a mini adventure and after chasing them down corridor after corridor he finally cornered them in the dungeons where the little buggers where given 2 months worth of detentions. It has been half five in the morning by the time Dan’s head hit the soft pillow of his bed and he was out like a light. So much so he slept right through the ringing of his alarm clock, the quiet whispers of Dia in his ear and the sound of the castle grounds bursting into life.
In the end it was the sound of a pile of books crashing over in the bedroom which made the headmasters eyes flash open. For a moment Dan lay blurry eyes staring at the ceiling as he tried to work out where he was and what was happening. The first thing the headmaster noticed was sunlight streaming in through the window and this took him by surprise as there is never sunlight when he gets up unless… “HOLY SH-“ “Morning Daniel.” Dia’s voice floated over towards him cutting out the man’s vulgar language. “Wh-what time is it?” He ran a hand nervously though his already messed up hair as he desperately tried to blink the sleep out of his eyes. “Half past ten.” “Oh my god!” Dia had never seen her husband move as fast as he dived out of bed and started picking up whatever item of clothing was closed to him and put it on ignoring the creases or the tea stains. “Why didn’t you wake me?” “I tried.” “Not hard enough.”
Fumbling with the buttons of his shirt Dan barged out of the bedroom and charged down the small flight of stairs and into the main office where he caught a glimpse of himself and noticed how thick his beard was getting. “I really need to shave.” He muttered to himself as he ran a hand over the thick bristles, honestly he was beginning to look like some homeless person. Quickly snapping back to reality Dan hurried over to the oak door, pulled it open and although expecting to see Ellie standing at attention waiting for her, admittedly shabby dressed headmaster. But as he looked at eye height he could not see anything, then he looked at the floor. “Erm…Ellie, what are you doing on the floor?”
With a small chuckle Dan offered the Hufflepuff his hand to help pull her up to her feet before leading the way into his main office expecting Ellie to follow him in.

Ellie was being a rebel to the cause. She was skipping class in order to sit on the floor. Ellie felt good about this fact. It gave her a warm fuzzy feeling inside that only doing something your not supposed could. the warm fuzzy feeling was crossing out the cold feeling in her butt rather nicely.
Ellie was planning on waiting all day for Hubbles. She wondered where he was. His door was never closed, and it was strange for him not to be around at this time. Ellie traced that stones lines as she waited feeling the ridges in her finger tips. Finally she heard rushed footsteps coming down the hall. She looked up to see...a caveman?
"Sitting." Ellie said with a smile. She gladly took the hand that had been extended and bent over and picked up her bag and rested the strap on her shoulder. "So, are you going for the new homeless neanderthal look there Professor?" Ellie said, with a hidden smirk. "Looking good..." she said as she went a head of Hubbles into his own office.

It seemed that Ellie was in a very determined mood and just like any Hufflepuff when they had the determination to do something they would do anything to make sure it was done. Dan guessed that the classic yellow house patience shone through in times like that. However despite this he was still surprised when Ellie led the way into his own office and like an obedient child Dan followed her in, sheepishly moving around to his side of the desk motioning with his hand for Ellie to take a seat opposite him.
“Hmm” Dan mused as he stroked his thick beard after he had sat down in his high backed chair. “I guess I am a little bit mangy.” He gave a small chuckle at this as he always felt that when it came to dealing with Ellie it was more like he was hanging out with a sister and not a student. He felt like he could tease Ellie and she could tease him and no offence would be taken on either behalf. Now was the perfect example of this, just as she told him he looked like a caveman Dan could tell her about the dust all over her bum from sitting on the floor…but where would be the fun in that? Instead the headmaster just slouched in his chair picking the skin at the side of his finger nails as he glanced over at the young Hufflepuff.
“So what can I do for you then Ellie?” He asked as he reached out to pick up his tea cup that sat on the table knocking over a stakc of papers in the process. Much to his disappointment he realised the mug was empty and with a small sigh of disappointment the man looked around the room as if a fresh cup of team would just appear…well it would if he asked the house elves. Running his hand through his already messy hair Dan simply muttered the name ‘Bobby’ and within a second and a small pop a house elf appeared at the side of his desk, its tennis ball eyes fixed upon the headmaster as he waited to hear why it had been summoned. “Hey Bobby, can I have a cup of tea please and a nice stack of pancakes and erm…” Dan broke off and looked over at Ellie. “…do you want anything Miss Rook?”

Ellie was feeling a little frisky today. She had thought all night about her inevitable visit with Hubbles, gotten up and said, today is the day. The Hufflepuff determination and patience landed her in her seat now, as she sat down opposite Hubbles. She smiled at him and his red beard. "Oh, it makes you look, wiser." Ellie said with a grin. "Though I wouldn't suggest growing a Dumbledore beard just yet."
What could he do for her? Ellie wasn't exactly sure what she wanted him to do, but she was just going to come out with her problem and see what he had to say about it. It was a fifty-fifty shot of her head being straightened out. however, if anyone was going to knock her into shape, it was going to be Hubbles.
"Well, actually I want to talk to you about a little problem that has been going around and around in my head." Ellie started, but as she took a breath in anticipation of letting it all spill out, a house elf popped up. Ellie exhaled and pushed it all down. The house elf took Hubbles' order and as he asked Ellie for anything, its big saucer eyes moved to Ellie. "Tuck of gin." she said, and the house elf's ear perked up in questioning. It looked to Hubbles, and Ellie looked at Hubbles. "Kidding Kidding, just tea please, with lemon." Ellie said with an innocent smile.
The house elf vanished and Ellie looked over at Hubbles again. Ready and waiting to get this talk along.
