I think clubs would be lovely Lizzykins. I also think that we need a world issue to deal with that involves every single character. The origin of this site is Harry Potter with is a basic good versus evil plot. It is one of the easiest things to start up. We just need a good side and bad side side and conflict and plots are created. Anyone get what I'm trying to say and could possibly help expound of this? haha Its not my strong point.

I realise this is now a few months old, but if anyone is still serious about this I have a few ideas. (By the way it was really nice to see the thread & know that how much people have got out of the site
Though improvements/additions/changes to the site are all important in keeping a site fresh. I think in order for this to be effective you need more keen & active roleplayers to get the ball rolling.
If anyone was serious in reviving Ridd, I think the best thing to do would be to first make the site as accessible to newcomers as possible. Perhaps by archiving all current threads & starting a new term fresh with new open threads. And also the usual tidy of members/applications/ooc board. (Large memberships and amounts of threads can sometimes be intimidating)
Then it would be all about a massive publicity campaign - joining as many forums as you can and advertising the site. Joining appropriate/relevant & popular a-z and top sites. And word-of-mouth never goes amiss! Doing this originally was VERY time consuming.. but it is effective if its done right!
Another thing may be forming an organised main plot. The only guideline I gave with Ridd was "its 100 years after the books", which is good because it provides so much freedom, but bad because it has led to some very complex plots that were never finished! Everyone gets excited about a good plot, so that would be another inticement for newcomers. Though the balance between control to keep a plot moving and freedom for creativity is hard :/
I realise I haven't been around for ageeees.. so do ignore me if you think I'm talking rubbish

I agree. I think the passion for Ridd still shines through and it would be a shame to let such a good site die that so many people love. We have after all had some AMAZING times on here
My last assignment/presentation is on the 28th of April and then from that day I am free from all uni work (well apart from building our race car for July) but I will have more time and I promise to post and but the effort in to help bring life into Ridd. I just can not do that at the moment as I have so much work on
If everyone is up for it maybe we could share out the responsibility so everyone feels apart and helping bring back such an amazing site
Sorry again for my lack of activity. I am more then prepared to be cyber slapped by you all

yeah, i'm kind of in the same boat as our dear Lizzykins... except that i am finishing up my first semester of college instead of last. got three years left to go... oh joy... but yeah, that's a great idea Lizard. share the responsibilities and give everyone something to do, no matter how small so that this feels more like a community effort *slaps Liz*

Oh my goodness, long time no see Gail. Glad to see you're still up for visits sometimes, we've missed you here.
And hey everyone! Perhaps we could send a mass email out or something to everyone on the Ridd email list, tell them we'd like to get the site back up and running, ask how they're doing and such. It would make our old members feel welcomed again, possibly get them more susceptible to the idea of returning to Ridd?[/color]

Hey there stranger long time no see. I think that's a great idea a mass email to everyone might bring them back. Since the site has been so slow they might have stopped coming, perhaps the email could get them to return. Perhaps a wee bit of a site overhaul might do some good too. Maybe a new skin, and header give the site a fresh look?
