A new term had begun and Hannah was back at Hogwarts ready to resume her role as divination's professor. That brought a smile to her face since she did not think she would have lasted this long. Hannah took the job wanting to reach out to those who might have the gift, she wanted them to accept it, nurture it, let it grow. Who knew she'd have to deal with brats. An incident from last term came to mind and she was still seething over it. Forcing herself to calm down she continued her walk up the stairs to the classroom. Entering the room for the first time in months Hannah was pleased to see it had been well taken care of in her absence. Dust had not been allowed to settle, the windows were open which left a cool breeze lingering. The desks were clean, the board spotless. Nice to come back to. Placing her things on the desk she took a quick look at the roster. Her eyes slid down the names coming to rest on one she was hoping not to see again. Rolling her eyes, she muttered the word "great" under her breath. Another fun filled term. Sitting down she took a huge sip of coffee it was scolding hot but then in her state of mind she didn't seem to notice, not at first anyway. Instead of the bad she opted to think about the good things. Today's lesson for instance. She was actually looking forward to it, had been excited since thinking of it a few night ago. She wondered why she hadn't thought of it before. This kind of thing wasn't usually her style but even she couldn't pass it up. Hopefully the students would like it as well. Smiling she got up and turned to the board. Wand pointed she wrote the words "Astrology" in bold dark green letters. Odd how that little bit of Slytherin always showed up in one way or another. Sitting back down she waited for the first arrivals especially the arrival of her special guest. Again she was excited because she thought she had a good plan for that days lesson. She just hoped that the students were receptive. POINTS
Gryffindor Hufflepuff +10 points Ravenclaw -5 points Slytherin

"Ah, another fun filled semester with the ever competent whack job Professor; Edgecombe! And to think, she was sorted into Slytherin! Today's topic; Astrology! If I wanted to learn about the stars and their signs, I would have taken Dia's class." Jason mused to himself as he walked into the classroom before letting out a hearty laugh. Quite a fe nights before, he had a vision of this event unfold in his dreams and by what was shown, it was going to be quite amusing. Taking a seat up in the first row, practically infront of Hannah, the better Slytherin sat. "Exciting, eh? Glad to see you got up off your arse to finally teach a lesson that won't be completely boring. Though I reckon Dia will be quite jealous."
It's true, Jason loved to torture Hannah in every way possible; that being the reason why he signed up for her class once more. The woman couldn't lay a hand on him, and they both knew it. He got on the one nerve that she lay waste to a long time ago, the one that was reserved for the special people who are gifted enough to make her blow a gasket. Oh, how it did amuse the boy to no end and leave a smile on his lips in the meantime.
Sliding down in his chair and crossing his feet at the ankles, the Slytherin then rested his arms behind his head, smirking in comfort. "Hope there aren't any queers in your class this time, Hannah. I would hate to have a repeat of last term." The boy feigned, ending the sentence in a dark laugh. This was going to be fun.

Faust was running from room to room trying to find his class. DADA, No, Potions, No...Well the teacher was a bit peeved when he knocked over the Cauldron oh well. Anyway as he was running, he slipped a few times as he had done a spell on his shoes and it went wrong…as usual. A couple of times he slid right under some teachers!
He then saw the Classroom he was looking for “Yes” he shouted very loudly, as he slid past the classroom, Ten feet later he dragged himself along the wall and walked through the classroom. He took off his shoes and changed them for his Plimpsoles. HE walked slowly to the front desk and saw the teacher talking. “Er Johann Faust, Ravenclaw…Er 1st year” he smiled deeply, he then went to his desk and sat down.
A squeak was heard from his bag. Faust did a strange face and opened it slowly. “Dam this is my roommates rat” He quickly stood up “Excuse me” He ran quickly back to the rooms and lay it down in its box. He ran back, sat down and gave a heavy sigh. Faust pulled and his wand and put it on the table. A small charge of lightning came out of it “Ooops”
After pulling out the rest of his things, more students came in and saw the two people talking. Faust waved at a few Ravenclaws but no first years, strange… Faust thought. He then looked at the teacher and hoped the lesson would begin.

When Hannah Edgecombe had approached her with an idea for joined forces for a class, Dia could not help but jump at the idea. Showing the students how interdepartmental co-operation worked would be extraordinarily helpful to their education, she thought, and on top of that it would be a fun class to teach on top of it all. The two teachers had discussed and prepared for the lesson and Dia was genuinely excited about it. So when the time came, Dia picked up her papers, notes, everything she might need, and left for the Divination's classroom.
Arriving in a blue pin striped suit with a white blouse on, she walked in just behind Mr Walker and raised one eye brow as he failed to notice her. Dia smiled at Hannah as the Slytherin sat down in greeting and continued to stand behind the boy, frowning now, her rolled up pieces of parchements in the hand she was leaning on on the table just behind the Slytherin's seat.
"And if you had signed up for my class, Mr Walker," Dia said after a moment, "you would have known that I don't get jealous. Only ignorant fools get jealous, and you can take that to the bank." Dia had heard the story of the boy's prier indiscretions and thought that it was clearly a cry for help ... or his little attempt at trying to prove he was better the some people. Dia couldn't understand why this was: Prof Edgecombe was, after all, a pure blood and a seer and a well respected one at that, not to mention a member of the Hogwarts staff, a prestigious position in any country to be sure.
"And with your track record I wouldn't go about throwing comments like that around, Mister Walker," Dia added as she gave him a tap on the back of the head with the thick roll she was holding. "Twenty points for that remark. You're already on thin ice. Starting a lesson in the negative isn't a thing to seek after. Nevertheless, you never call a professor by their name; it is Professor Edgecombe to you young man and you'll do well to remember it."
Dia gave the boy one more searching look before she walked to Hannah's desk. "Hello Professor," Dia said, placing her parchment on one corner of the desk, "everything's in order I take it?" Dia gave the Divination professor an encouraging smile and a small squeeze on the arm with her back towards the Slytherin. Just as she did a Ravenclaw came into the class and Dia turned around. "Goodday Mister Faust," Dia greeted, "please take a seat."

Rumour had it that two teachers were joining forces and their lesson was going to take a jointed look at the areas of their topic. This would not have bothered Dean had it not been for the teachers (or at least one particular Professor) involved as it suddenly became the main topic on his mind. Had he had the nerve he properly would have talked to ear off Neth Evans about it all and how she would be there and how he would have another chance to impress her.
Of course in reality Dean knew that as normally happened when he was in the same room as Professor Owen he was too frightened to say anything and this was the thought that was filling his mind as he made his way up to the Divination room. As the Hufflepuff slowly pushed open the classroom door he expected to only see Professor Edgecombe, which was bad enough by itself as the poor lads ears were already burning slightly red (Dean found it almost impossible to talk to any member of the opposite sex) but as he saw the blond hair of the Astronomy Professor he was half tempted to just walk away.
He knew for a fact however that this simply would not do and he gingerly walked into the classroom, head down avoiding eye contact and trying to hide his blushing face. Making sure he stayed well clear of the older Slytherin and younger Ravenclaw Dean slipped into an empty seat, dropt his bag to the floor and silently sat staring at the desk only occasionally glancing up at the two female Professors in the room.

Faust nodded at Proffesor Dia Hubbles and looked around before sitting down. When he did he looked at Dean Hogarth who was sitting behind faust. "Why the hell did you talk to her like that?" He sighed and turned to face the front.
He opened his diary to the page of his lesson chart. In the Thursday slot he put, Divination and Astrology. Isn't it strange my 2 lesson are on the same day, he thought.
He looked as more people came in, a few nice looking girls sad next to him "Hello" He said to a few, One turned to him and gave him a peck on the cheek "Hello to you too lets talk later"

She saw him coming before he came into the room. Hannah had to do her best not to groan out loud. After last term she could honestly say his face was one she was hoping not to see again. Too much to hope for apparently. Of course the first thing he did was find a sure fire way to piss her off so very early in the day. Hannah had been in a rather pleasant mood up until this moment. Her hands were balled into fists at her side, she tried not to get angry because her anger would only lead to something bad. Bad meaning her sudden desire to punch the boy right in the mouth. It was only the two of them for that brief moment if she had punched him no one would really have to know...Hannah had to shake her head that line of thinking would only lead to her getting fired. He wasn't worth it. Jason Walker was a dime a dozen one of those Slytherins whose brain is so stunted he can't be more than what everyone expects him to be. He was a sorry sight.
Lucky the cavalry arrived in the form of Dia Hubbles. She walked in right behind Jason, Hannah being so annoyed hadn't even truly realized. Good thing Hannah didn't act on her feelings she surely would have gotten the sack. Dia jumped right in telling Jason off but good. Hearing her take away 20 points from Slytherin actually caused her to smirk. He deserved it and hoped it would hurt. 20 points was nothing to sneeze at, his house mates wouldn't thank him for that. Some might say she had been usurped in her own class, but she didn't look at it that way instead she was thankful. She had a few choice words for Mr. Walker but she didn't think the schools headmaster would find them appropriate.
After Dia was done she walked over to Hannah's desk. Hannah gave her a look that said thank you while with her mouth she answered "Hello to you as well Professor. Right in the nick of time." In more ways than one. "I'm so glad you accepted my offer, I thought this would be a great lesson for the students. Astronomy does play a vital role in divination and people tend to forget that."
After Jason another student walked in this one a boy a younger Ravenclaw. Dia greeted him and Hannah watched as he took his seat. She looked at her roster again, this must be Johann Faust. Hopefully he would be good at divinations. Dean Hogarth entered later. A Hufflepuff which made Hannah smile since she now had a new fondness for puffs. "Hello Mr. Hogarth," she said noticing his preoccupation.

"Er Proffesor Edgecombe and Proffesor Hubbles can I say that I am actually surprised you joined classes as we will not be able to do Astronomy without the astronomy tower so how will we actually be able to look at the stars?"
He took his seat and then took out his diary "Um Proffesor hubbles I have been doing some star gazinf ltely and it seems that some of the stars are out of alignment and making new ones" He passed the diary to her.
Faust turned to Edgecombe "Proffesor Edgecombe I have been having these dreams and I think they may be Divination as I dreamt that I had gone to the Astronomy tower and a note was on the door, so I went and there was one, Is this actually possible?"

Hannah had been about to say something else to Dia when a voice sounded in her ears. Looking around Mrs Hubbles to where she heard the voice she noticed it was the new Ravenclaw. Normally composed, mostly prepared Hannah didn't seem ready for this. Tilting her head to the side she regarded the boy a moment. Odd didn't quite fit as the word she should use to describe him but it seemed the only one to come to mind at the very moment.
"Yes well there is more than one way to see stars Mr. Faust." Good thing there was magic, they would have sky in this room one way or another. "As for prophetic dreams, well they are possible but do not necessarily mean you have the gift. Dreams are sometimes the subconsciouses way of telling us things. It is hard to say. Has it happened more than once."
Hannah doubted the boy had the gift of sight, true seers were born not made and true seers were very rare and far between. Dreams sometimes came true but most of the time it didn't really mean anything.

Faust smiled sadly and put his head onto the table. Will this ever start he thought. Suddenly he fell asleep and dreamt of a crash coming through from the corridor.
He awoke with a crash someone had pushed a trolley into the door.

Dia smiled kindly at Hannah. She knew exactly what the professor meant. Problem students were ... well, problematic and Dia always felt that it was important to get a fresh pair of eyes and ears in to help; a fresh opinion and a different approach more often then not worked a charm and a half. Dia had had her fair share of difficult students and on more then one occasion it had done the trick to have another difficult student or simply another teacher.
"Oh it's my pleasure," Dia said, waving her hand dismissively, "think nothing of it." It had occurred to her numerous times that doing a lesson on this very subject would be most beneficial for all parties involved. She had never imagined that it would be Hannah that would instigate such a merger. Not that she minded who instigated it; it was just that Dia had always thought that Hannah didn't like her very much for some reason.
Dia continued flipping through the sheets of parchment she had brought with her. When Hannah greeted another student, Dia first looked at her and then at the named student. "Mr Hogarth," Dia said fondly, "wonderful that you came." She had hardly finished her sentence before the latest addition to her house began quizzing to two professors.
Dia was most taken aback and, looking shocked, she turned to Hannah, struggling to find words. Hannah didn't seem to struggle as much and as she spoke about having a gift, Dia nodded her head, finding she did actually have something to add. "Yes, that's right," Dia followed on quickly with that Hannah said, "and there is more to Astrology and Astronomy then just stars. This is why we've joined forces today." Dia looked at Hannah and smiled.
Dia looked back to Mr Faust and her smile quickly faded. Walking quickly to where the young Ravenclaw was sitting and now sleeping, Dia put her hand on his shoulder and gave it a shake. "Mr Faust," she said, authoritatively, "there will be no sleeping in this class. Five points from Ravenclaw. Please, sit up and pay attention." Dia returned to the front of the class and looked down at her notes. "Shall we start then?" she asked, looking from the empty class to the Divination Professor.

Dean did not understand what the Ravenclaw was on about, he had not said anything so why was this first year having a go at him? He did not want to cause a confrontation so the Hufflepuff remained facing the front of the glass room, eye nervously passing over to the two Professors from time to time scared that if they caught him looking they might think he was staring.
“It is a pleasure to be here.” Muttered Dean as he looked up at Professor Owen as she greeted him but it seemed that she was caught slight short by the Ravenclaw that was sitting behind him. With a small frown of annoyance Dean turned around in his seat and looked over at the Ravenclaw first year as he first almost insulted the Professor by saying he never expected them to team up but then he went on to mention some rubbish about dreams and how they were coming true. The Hufflepuff could not believe what he was hearing, this Ravenclaw was attention seeking, anyone could see that and it was working. Maybe he should tell Professor Owen he was going to die of something, maybe then she would pay more attention to him.
Dean spun around in his chair and folded his arms, the frown still a pinch in his forehead. He was acting a lot like a five year old who had dropt his bag of sweets on the floor, but at that present moment in time he did not care about what anyone else thought. Which was strange as normally the Hufflepuff was paranoid about things such as that, in fact a lot of things have been bothering him recently. When Professor Owen asked if they were ready to start the lesson this faze seemed to brush over Dean and a small smile filled his face, eager to learn and enjoy the lesson.

Oh yes, you saw it right, Harrison Greg was actually going to a lesson and one of the less popular ones too. The reason you may ask, well the day before he had received a rather hostile letter from his father ordering him to work harder in his last year otherwise there would be consequences…and Harrison’s Dad was German and not a guy you crossed. The Gryffindor had tried to drag Blake and Toby along give them a rather long winded explanation of why they should make the effort, but seeing as he was now wondering down the almost empty corridor by himself he guessed they had decided to stay in bed. Lazy sods.
Stepping into the Divination classroom the blond haired boy was rather surprised to see two Professors standing at the front of a three person class, all males…strange that. With a wide grin showing off his perfect white teeth Harrison walked into the classroom, his confidence almost as over powering as his aftershave.
“Morning Ladies.” He gave the Professors a small nod then he turned to his fellow classmates. “Gentleman pleasure to see you all.” Sitting down at the nearest table the Gryffindor sat at an angle hooking his foot around the leg of another chair dragging it closer to him so he could put his feet up. Once comfortable he Gryffindor grinned back at the two Professors almost as his own private signal for them to start

Post by Molly Fawner on Oct 15, 2008 22:33:51 GMT
The certain turning of events had Hogwarts a very unsafe place to be, as of late. On her way down from the common room she had passed at least six little spats in the stairwell, and the hallway leading away from it; the Gryffindor hadn't the foggiest idea as to why they were bothering the loss of effort in the first place. Fighting just wasn't her style, it seemed, now if only the rest of the school would do well to remember it was a trend worth repeating.. Instead of these silly rainbow-ear-covered socks everyone was wearing nowadays. Honestly. Shrugging her shoulders instead of arguing her point, however, Molly calmly walked to her next class, successfully avoiding any incidents and stepping inside to the alarming three-males-to-one-female-student ratio. Well this was going to be fun, now wasn't it? A small smile parted the red of her lips, and she took a seat near the boy she would later know as Harrison, figuring she might as well sit with someone in the same house, as they did share similar traits.
"Hey." She greeted Edgecombe and Hubbles, the image of relaxed and calm as she adjusted herself. Shifting to the side, Molly propped her feet up on the chair beside her, tugging a quill out of her bookbag with slow, sluggish precision. Seeing as the Ravenclaw had already been reprimanded for falling asleep, she wasn't about to doze off anytime soon, and she pried her eyes wider, figuring she'd get some more energy as the class progressed. Her ice blue eyes moved once again to where the pair of professors stood, and she briefly wondered why Edgecombe needed backup, but shrugged the thought off, not really caring what the answer was.
Risking a casual glance over her shoulder at the Gryffindor boy, Molly drummed her fingernails briefly against the desk, figuring that if the lesson was going to take this long to start she could have slept in a bit more.[/color]

Mr. Faust was an unusual boy, but Hannah figured it was easier to just placate him then to try and figure him out. So she answered his questions as best she could hoping her explanation was good enough for him. Dia who seemed a little taken aback by the young charge took a moment before answering him, but she too gave what Hannah thought was a good explanation. The two subjects could coincide, lot's of divination had to do with planets and stars aligning at certain times. If the students didn't get that she feared they might be in the wrong class, but that was an opinion she kept to herself
Hannah had been rummaging around in her desk looking for some of her notes so she never noticed Mr. Faust who was again causing a disruption. Hannah looked up to find Dia handling things. She shook her head, because students never seemed to learn classrooms were places of learning not places to rest your feet. She didn't question Dia's punishment, you broke the rules you lost house points it was as simply as that.
A few more students joined the lesson and Hannah smiled, as they entered. At this point it was full enough and she figured they should probably get started. Dia had the same thought and Hannah nodded "Yes I think you're right." So getting up Hannah moved to the front of the room standing in front of her desk. "Now today's lesson as you can tell is combined. I asked Professor Hubbles to join us because divination uses many different forms of magics, many different areas of study. One is astrology. Now can anyone tell me why someone would use astrology as a form of divination?"
Waiting for an answer, she realized how nervous she still became when it came to teaching. Only being added to staff last term Hannah didn't have the years of experience some of the other professors possessed. She was still trying to find her way, her niche as they say. After the incident last semester she often wondered if she was cut out for this, but if there was one thing she wasn't it was a quitter. She was going to stick it out no matter what, and no matter who wished her gone.
