Coeus is startled to be sure. First this woman says she doesn't care about the school, and then she frivolously hands out a hundred house points for knowing that the dark arts can be addicting? He shakes his head, bewildered and amazed at the strange thought process of this new teacher. Then she further amazes him by comparing him... to Erys?! 'What kind of sense does that make?' he wonders to himself. Perhaps the whole "Yin-Yang" concept is worth looking into though...
More startling than all the previous events combined, however, is when this seemingly unfeeling woman smiles. Not a true smile, sort of a half smile, tilted, as if she can't force her entire face to be happy at once. Even such a small expression of joy looks out of place on her recently placid features. She talks about the dark mysteries in magic, the unnatural, the surreal, the changing nature of it, and tops it off with a rant about the Cruciatus Curse! 'Does Hubbles even know who he hired?!' he thinks, both abhorred and sickeningly fascinated with this woman's teaching principles. To start off a first lesson with such vivid imagery of torture is gutsy to say the least!
After the students sit in awkward silent for a good minute or two, Miss Hundar finishes her speech by asking for questions. Another awkward silence rises, as if all the students are dying to ask questions, hungry for more information, but scared. Not scared that their answer will be called stupid, or Mafelda will say they're too young to know... but scared that she will actually answer them. Finally, Coeus speaks, "Um... Profe-essor," his voice cracks at the pressure of speaking in her presence; he coughs to cover it up. "Professor," he begins again, "What's behind the tarps?" he points to the back wall where two fixtures are hidden behind canvas. He had noticed them earlier, but now that she was asking for questions, his curiousity got the better of them. 'Don't be werewolves, don't be werewolves...' he thinks frantically, though as shallow as the cloth is hung against the wall, he doubts cages of werewolves are tucked behind.
