It had been exactly a month to this day that Shayla Kane and Tyson White had shared their love with one another. Dating... was the preferred term. Tyson didn't know that he would have been able to survive without her. Every Tuesday and Thursday he hung out with her, occasionaly on Saturday nights he did something out of the ordinary. Ty wanted to do something special today, for it was their one month anniversary. Tyson agreed to himself he would date for at least a few months before proposing, even though he was sure as hell she was the one for him. But that never stopped him from looking around in ever jewlery store he crossed paths with. And then one day it just happened: Tyson was leaving the Daily Prophet office and there was always this really nice, top dog jewlery store and he went inside. He saw the most perfect ring, silver wrist band and flower made completely out of splarkling beautiful diamonds, he paid the price for it, and took it home. He was so proud.
Tyson decided he would meet her at the lake today, so he grabbed a quill and some parchment and began writing:
Shayla-
I would be delighted if you would agree to meet me at the lake this afternoon around three o'clock. I miss you and do not forget that today is our one month anniversary. Love you!
-Tyson
It was perfect! He attached the letter to his owl and sent her off to find Shayla. Tyson had the ring all ready it was in a beautiful ruby felt box in a bag, which he had his co-writer wrap, since she was a girl and he was not. It was sitting on his dining room table. That was when he caught his eye on his family's crest with two swords intertwined above his mantle. It was beautiful and been in his family for generations. His thoughts made the swords crossing mean Shay and Ty... you know, so he got it down and brought it with him.
So there Tyson was sitting a good distance in between the lake waters and the students visiting. He had the crest next to him and the nicely wrapped ring on the other. He was so restless. Cursing at himself the whole time and the owl making silly remarks: What if the owl didn't find her?, What if she hate's the ring?, What if the sword thing was stupid?.... Tyson just kept freaking himself out. Not even paying a speck of attention he hadn't noticed anyone walk up.

Her co-worker had been sitting across from her in the seat opposite her desk bragging. He was always bragging about every and anything. Shayla simply learned to deal with it, often she would sit there thinking of just about anything else, but still managing to ooh and ah in all the right places. This had become a science for her and the only way she could deal with him without cursing. She started to think his need for bragging had to do with his need to feel superior to her in some way, since he couldn't be when it came to work. Shayla was one of the best aurors in her department, and everyone knew it.
As her head leaned back in the chair, her defenses failed and she had started to fall asleep listening to the droning voice go on and on about nothing. The owl flew into her office unnoticed at first until it passed by her hair, ruffling it. Her eyes popped open and just then she had a letter dropped on her desk.
Picking it up she noticed the handwriting it was from Tyson. Smiling she read it quickly, her heart skipping a beat or two. He wanted to see her and she was willing to go. Looking over at her colleague she informed him of something coming up. She had to go and she was happy for it. He left reluctantly certainly not finished bragging but Shayla didn't care. She was right behind him jacket in hand. In the lifts she couldn't keep the grin off of her face several other wizards looked at her as if she had gone loopy. Perhaps she had but she didn't care.
As she appeared in Hogsmeade she took a quick look around. Things hadn't changed much since she left. The place still looked the way it did when she was in attendance. Somehow it comforted her to see that. As she walked to the school. Another sight that made her eyes water only a little. This is where she had first seen Tyson, where she first realized she loved a boy.
Reaching the lake Shay could see him in the distance. Even after a month of being together the mere sight of him made her breath catch in her throat. He was everything she ever wanted in a man and then some. Sneaking up behind him she slipped her arms around his waist, placed her head on his shoulder and said in her soft voice "You lure me to the place where it all began. You're such a romantic Tyson White." With that she planted a kiss on his cheek.

The sun was in the perfect spot! Pretty much over head, but slightly to the left or right, depending on where you were, but it wasn't in your eyes. Which was perfect, so Shayla and himself weren't squinting the entire time they were on their date at the lake on their one month anniversary. Tyson couldn't stop beating himself up. All his idea's were spectacular and he knew it, that' s what him such a good writer, but he couldn't let any of his ideas that pretained to his real life get away from him. Especially the sword thing. It was a cute love idea, the way the two heart would always be united... she would keep one untill they married and then they would add it when they moved in with one another... very romantic, but then the ring. Was it too soon? Would she like it? And then the owl came back... Did he find her? Would she think it was stupid? One of the best things about Ty was that he was always focused on someone else.
Tyson was so caught up in his thoughts about Shayla and the gifts he hadn't noticed anyone had joined him. That was until he got a tickle in his ear from the very voice he loved amongst them all. The rich chocolatey ring from the Miss Kane. Ah, so his owl had found her. Perfect! One barrier off his shoulders. Now he only had the sword and ring to worry about. He felt like he was sweating. Poor poor Tyson, but Shay would ease the pain, just a little bit or maybe a lot!
Her slender head was sitting on his shoulders just the way she had kind of layed on him in the Three Broomsticks when they had first met after a long time period. Her face just fit there in the nick right there. "Aw... your too kind!" Tyson denied the compliment and kissed her right back on the cheek his lips could reach. "So you like it? I thought it would bring back memories!" He asked cocking his eyebrows. It was an obvious question he knew how much she loved work, but couldn't stand the other workers. He smiled and grabbed her hand to lead her to his side! He couldn't wait till they were married... it just fit into their life story!

"Yes it's just perfect meeting here. Something about being back here always makes me feel better. Just looking at that castle brings me the greatest pleasure imaginable. Plus you're here so what more could a girl ask for you know. It's also a great day out perfect for laying about lounging around." Lucky she had gotten most of her work done and there was nothing really pressing that she had to take care of. So a nice day with her honey was in order plus it was their one month anniversary.
He grabbed her hand bringing her to his side she looked out over the lake of course if still looked the same and again she longed for the days when she was a student there laying out by the lake for fun with her friends. Now she was getting to enjoy it with Tyson the way she had always wanted to when they were younger. They had been together a month already and she still thought of all the time they wasted being too scared to speak to one another.
Lucky for her they both grew out of it and ended up finding each other once again. Things have been going well they were going on a month strong. She couldn't have been happier at this point because he made feel better then she had ever felt before. No man in this world could do what he did to her with the simplest look. They just seemed to fit together. "So my dearest what have we got going on here are we having a picnic or will we be dining in the Great Hall." That last bit was a joke not that she thought there was anything wrong with eating in there it would probably be fun for them at least.

It was three o'clock was Shayla crazy? He made it at a time where they should have both eaten at least three hours ago, because Tyson couldn't cook worth anything. He even manages to screw peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He laughed in his head at that thought when he accidently messed it up and gave it to his teacher being unaware. Eating in the Great Hall was a good idea. Reunite with old professors, show off their careers, and their love for one another. He slid over and kissed Shayla on the cheek once more. Ty just couldn't believe he got so lucky.
"Um well, I didn't think about food, but we'll go up to the great hall later, first I have some buisness to settle!" Tyson studdered out at first, but then the end was quite the jokey type of his voice. "Well I have two things here, one beautiful wrapped by a very annoying co-writer of mine and the other well-" Ty glanced at his terrible wrapping,"-wrapped by me apparently!" He laughed. "So we have to hurry if you expect to get any leftovers..." And he scooted closer to her.
[[oh my gosh LEXI i'm so sorry that this is the most crappiest post i've ever written! I am totally out of it and jetlag is getting to me, but I promise i'll do better! Please forgive me!]]

Shay didn't even know why she asked Tyson about food. Cooking wasn't really his strong suit, just like it wasn't really hers. But she had been so busy with work that she hadn't even had time to eat. Working all morning, then that ridiculous meeting in her office took the rest of the afternoon. Her stomach growled just then reminding her of her need for food. Seems like if she wanted anything they would either have to go into the Great Hall or they would have to walk back into the village and find some place.
He mentioned the Great Hall, when she said that she was sort of kidding about it. How weird would it be to just walk into the school and ask to sit and eat with everyone else. She hadn't set foot in here since she graduated, she wasn't sure about Tyson, perhaps his job with the paper had him here often enough that he would be welcomed. She knew that would make her a bit shy oddly enough since that wasn't really Shay.
Not that she had too long to dwell on that, because before she knew it Tyson was telling her that he had two things for her. She smiled happily as he showed her the two differently wrapped gifts. One that resembled something done by a professional and one that looked like he most certainly had done it himself. Of course there was only one she wanted to see first and that was the one he took the time to wrap for her. "I want to see the one you wrapped first my love." Giving him the goo goo eyes she waited for what she was sure to be a huge treat. Her own present in her bag, she did hope he would like it.

The cold was getting to Tyson. The snow wasn't quite sticking anymore, but with luck there was sun. It was perfect, just what he needed for Shayla and himself to have the best day of their first one month anniversary, but he himself was getting terribly cold, especially his backside. And if he was freezing, than she had to be. "First, before you get to see what is inside the two things... are you cold?" Tyson just got straight to the point. There was no dwadling. He was freezing and felt terrible that he had brought her out here. It was a good idea, at first, but he had neglected to check the weather first. He made note of that for next time.
When he mentioned actually going to the Great Hall Shayla's face kind of dropped. Like she was only kidding, but he thought it to be an intresting little treat. Set foot into one of their favorite places on Earth. Ty didn't come all that often, but he has been in a time or two after his graduation. Many strange articles he has written on little things inside the castle, but he wasn't going to mention them. "Sorry 'bout the whole going to the castle thing. We won't go... food just wasn't on the agenda, but i'm sure we can find somewhere to enjoy something tasty, somewhere warm I suspect." Ty appologized and hope this was going okay.
He loved the way that Shay never criticized him when he spoke. Very rarely did he sound just like a normal guy. He either over did it in a writing voice or was so scared out of his witts he sounded rather timid, but Shayla never cared. She wanted to see his "lovely" wrapped gift first, so he picked up the present and sat it in her lap and motioned for her to open it. "Before you freak out and think i'm some kind of idiot the thought of this came to me quite recently, but it might only make sense to me, but I hope you understand, but of course if you don't get it at first, I shall explain!" Tyson went off scared she would hate it, but shut up quickly. He smiled and then motioned again for her to open it.

Shay had been waiting anxiously to see what it was he brought her. Not that she had been expecting anything, no Shay wasn't that kind of girl she never asked for things or expected things from anyone. This was one of the traits he parents always loved about her. But now that he mentioned a gift she was curious Tyson was a sweet heart and she could only imagine what something he would buy her. Seems she was going to have to wait because instead of giving her anything he asked if she was cold. Of course in all the excitement she never once thought about it. Now that he mentioned it she was a bit chilly but it wasn't something she couldn't handle. "It's a bit nippy but I'll live" came her honest reply.
Then it seemed he picked up on her hesitation about going into the castle. It's not that she didn't want to go in, it's just that she felt awkward simply walking in and going to sit with others when most of them wouldn't even know who she was. There were less than a few professors there that she remembered most of them now were around her age or simply a few years older meaning she might have known them while in school but not all that well. She just felt weird about it but if he wanted to. "If you'd like to go in and visit I'm fine with that. We can wander around and maybe if we get hungry stop in for some food." No she wasn't bending to his will she knew about compromise and for him she was always willing to compromise.
She was ready to go in but then again he surprised her again and opted to put her out of her misery and give her what he wrapped. He placed it on her lap and she stared at it a moment taking in the badly done wrapping but loving him just a bit more for trying to wrap just for her. After he launched into his speech about the gift she opened it he was right she didn't really get it so she looked to him for answers.

Tyson was scared sick that Shayla was going to think he was some complete and total weirdo for giving her two swords bound together. It looked retarted and something he would of pulled up while fishing, but it had hung in his house for ages... to be honest he never really knew what it was for. He watched as she opened the badly wrapped gift and her expression was blank. He knew it. She looked at him for the explanation and he decided it was time. He glanced her way and she seemed eager to know why he had given it to her. Taking a deep breath Ty began,"Well I know you may think i've gone mad for giving you two intertwined swords, but a few days ago I was sitting in my living room trying to write and I looked up and saw it. The thing has been in my house for centuries and I never really understood what it was, but in my opinion it is sort've our love. You know like I am one sword and you are the other and now we're together?" He sighed and shook his head,"I knew it was stupid."
Looking around Shay and him were still the only two out. Everyone else must have been eating, one thing he was dying to do, but Shayla wasn't too excited about going in the castle and he admired that she had told him and not just gone and felt uncomfortable the whole time, so he decided he would take her somewhere in Hogsmede instead. "No, no... we won't go! We will eat together and alone somewhere in Hogsmede,"Ty assured her.
There was one more gift. The one that was just beautifully wrapped by his co-worker and the one that meant a whole lot. Life as they know it and plus their future. It was just a box. An empty box, the ring really wasn't in there. It was in his jacket pocket where it should be. But he was so deathly afraid that she would say no. He had never been rejected before, 'cause he never fallen in love before. It all made perfect sense. He was dying to have her open it, but then he wanted to take it and run away!

Shayla continued to stare at the two intertwined swords trying to figure out what would make Tyson give them to her. She thought perhaps they were symbolic but the symbolism was lost on her. Her face continued to register her confusion and she started to feel terrible about it. He went through a lot of trouble to give this to her and here she was being ungrateful. When would he tell her what this meant? Seeing her confusion he suddenly told her everything which shed the gift into an entirely new light.
Now that it made sense to her she couldn't have asked for a better present. "Oh Tyson this is the sweetest thing anyone's ever given me. Thank you and you're right it does symbolize our love and I'm surprised I didn't see it before." She stared at the swords now her eyes taking them in seeing their age and what they meant to the two of them. They would hang proudly in her flat the way they hung in his home.
Again they were back on the subject of where to eat, but Shayla no longer really cared about that. For the moment she was wondering what was in the other package he had given her. The one with the nice wrapping. Perhaps it was another symbol of their love. So with trembling fingers she opened it tearing the paper and seeing a small tiny box. If it was what she thought it was then Tyson White had just made her the happiest woman in the world. Throwing open the lid on the tiny box, a smile so wide on her face it rivaled that of a Cheshire cat. The smile didn't last long though because as she peered into the box she noticed it was empty. Again she had to look at Tyson, "I really don't get this" she said sounding disappointed beyond belief.

Food had drifted out of Tyson's mind the moment after he explained the two swords and their symbolic reason. Shayla was so greatful and her smile was so wide that he knew she appreciated it. It felt good to know that his girlfriend appreciated and understood him. Most girls would have thrown it back at him and told him how dumb it was or how mad he had gone for thinking they would like it. A smile crossed his lips and he bent over to kiss her softly on the lips. "Glad you like it," he whispered in her ear and then retreated to his sitting position next to her.
Shayla had reached over and got the nicely wrapped gift. He could tell she was excited to get this one. She ripped the paper off it and saw the tiny box. Her face glowed with excitement and Ty thought she had caught on. Shay opened the box and it was empty. Her face flew down to hell in moments. She didn't get this gift and that is what she had hoped for.
A chuckle left him and he grinned for only a moment. Propping up on one knee he pulled another box from his pocket that was blue satin and opened it. A beautiful diamond ring sat inside. "Shayla Kane... will you marry me?" Tyson said strongly. He hoped she would say yes. It was all that he asked. Ty knew for sure that Shay was the one for him. That answer would change his life and his self-esteem forever! He smiled and waited patiently for her answer to the question that should have been asked years ago!

Shayla could only stare at the box in amazement. Did he know that it was empty? Was it intentionally empty? Was this some kind of joke or something he set up for her benefit? She had no idea and she felt foolish asking him why there was no ring in the box, it felt sort of presumptuous maybe he had never intended to give her a ring. Sighing Shayla shut the box up not really prepared to look at him just yet because she felt so silly at her reaction to the small box filled with absolutely nothing.
Hearing movement on the opposite side of her made her turn her head toward him, that's when she saw him on his knees. Her face again showed nothing but confusion. He was unlike any other guy she ever met, Tyson was her own little enigma. In his hand was another small box and this time there was something in this box.
He asked to marry her Shay's dream had finally become a reality. She jumped up excited as could be and grabbed hold of his neck "Yes yes yes I'll marry you Tyson," kissing his cheek, then his neck, then his lips. "You are the only one for me you know." Holding out her hand she waited for him to put the ring on her outstretched shaking finger.

[[Sorry Lexi for taking so long! I sent you a pm explaining everything!]]
Tyson watched Shayla's face. It had so many emotions after she agreed to marry him he was going to have to put a lot of effort into learning him all. It switched so quickly, but now it was stuck on confusion... not one of Ty's favorites. Apparently the empty box hadn't gone as well as he pleased. The box with the ring was already in his hand and he shuffled on his knee for a moment to catch her attention. She turned around gasped and the regular beautiful smile was back on her face as she went crazy over his offer and said the great word "yes!"
This couldn't have gone better. At first Ty was so worried that none of it would go as plan and she wouldn't understand anything. And she really hadn't got all of it, but explaining only made it make more sense! Shayla kissed him and finally found his lips. He kissed her back. They had never been happier. As he pressed his lips against hers he replayed the sound of Mr. and Mrs. Tyson White... Shayla White! It was perfect! Their professions would be great together and he couldn't wait. Most people are scared of marriage, but Tyson thought he was so excited 'cause he knew he was marrying the love of his life!
She whispered a great line in his ear and he agreed,"I have realized that over the last few months... but you know that you are the only one that could ever fulfill my dreams!" He smiled at her! "Let's get out of here... go somewhere warmer!" He slipped off his coat and put it on her, so she wouldn't turn into an ice cube before they made it to their cars! Food would have to wait! He needed time with his one and only wife-to-be!

He was just as happy as she was. Odd how she hadn't thought of marriage, oh not because she didn't believe in marriage or anything like that, no she just assumed that Tyson wouldn't want that. Men weren't the commitment sort and for many of them marriage was considered a four letter word. So it was never something she pressed him on or even hinted at. He thought of it all on his own and she couldn't have been happier because she knew it was what he wanted, this had been his idea.
Shayla was going to be a Mrs. That sounded good to her. She knew since the moment they ran into each other at the pub they were meant to be. Too bad they were too silly to realize this earlier. No matter, now they were going to have a lifetime together.
Shay was already on wedding mode trying to think of the where, the when, the dress, the flowers, and all those things. Those thoughts were short lived because Tyson as usual found something to say that would make her loose all track of her thoughts he told her that she was the one that could full fill all of his dreams. The man did have a gift with words. "I feel the same and I think it's time to leave, we have a lot to do." Again marriage mode was back in full force. The dress she had to find the perfect dress one that would make Tyson's face light up when he saw it.

Tyson could tell that Shayla was overjoyed by the fact that he wanted to marry her, but little did she know that he was so relieved she, the girl as beautiful as heaven itself, agreed to marry the boy, whose so nerdy he became reporter for a career. How ironic and strange things turn out, but it was so obvious now that they were meant for each other and Ty wanted nothing else!
A quiet noise of grumbling escaped Ty's stomach. He was famished. For the wonderful moment he had forgotten food, but now that he was going to be married to Shay the thought of hunger was back. Food was on the menu, so Tyson decided to take his soon-to-be-married-to Shayla out to dinner. Where, that would be decided later, but getting off the campus where they had ignored and not known each other would be nice too.
Tyson was so excited that Shayla's hadn't mentioned wedding plans to him yet, but he knew it was coming very very soon. He didn't mind, he helped his sister with her wedding a long time ago when he was just a teenager, but now it was his, hers, theirs, ours. Everything was about to become plural. Nothing would belong to him and he was about to always be wrong. Especially because of where Shayla stands. She's auror, he's a reporter... big difference... she's in higher places and what she says goes!
Mr. and Mrs., Tyson and Shayla, he's waited so long to hear that! He grabbed Shay's hand, waited for her to get on her feet, and began to lead her away from the lawn...
