Winter. Some people said it was a dismal time of year, and towards it being freezing, Kieran would have to agree with you on that one, but the snow made it good to have snowball fights which was always a laugh, and the iced over lake made a good thing for ice skating, which Kieran hadnt done since he was about six. He remembered vaguely that he had enjoed it, though he knew he was not graceful on ice, and usually fell over. A lot. Though it was all in the name of fun so he didnt mind really. Kieran often made a prat out of himself, it was just who he was.
Walking out of the oak doors, the cold air hit him full force, sending a shiver right down to the small of his back. Pulling his scarf around him tighter, to the extent if it was any tighter he would have strangled himself, he hastened to fasten his coat as he stepped out of the warmth of the castle and into the fluffy snow, already feeling like he was a kid, though secretley he wished he had earmuffs right about now.
As he walked, he kicked the snow, sending it forwards a little bit and landing in small little drops back onto the snow. As he looked back, it would probably look like a drunk had been here, stumbling, sliding and falling everywhere, as though the thought had possed him, he took a glace around to see if anyone was watching, nobody was, and with a childish laugh, Kieran threw himself down into the snow. Why? Well because he could obviously.
Jumping up, he threw himself back down on his back in some fresh snow, flailing his arms around himself, and pushing his legs to the side and back for a few seconds, still grinning like a cheshire cat, he jumped back up to admire his work of art. He had attempted to make a snow angel, though it looked more like a dementor if he was completley honest, with his wand, he was able to spell in the snow, ``snow dementor, by kieran davies. Do not destroy!!``
Once his snow dementor was complete, he made his way down to the lake, which was where he had wanted to go in the first place, finding it iced over he once more, grinned like a five year old, he even wanted to say ``yay ice`` though was able to compose himself and not say it. Conjuring up some ice skates, he slipped them on and stepped onto the ice, sliding as soon as his feet touched it, "Whoa... whoawhoawhoa!" Kieran Davies was currently trying to stop himself from doing the splits and ending up in a rather painful position, eventually he got his footing and began to skate, not well, more like a centremetre a foot movement, and very juggedly. Though, as he went to skate back towards the shore line, he found himself slipping again so, in a haste to at least fall on cushiony snow, he tried to get back to the shore, only to fall on his stomach, slide the rest of the way and have his head rammed into the snow instead.
Not his most graceful move.
Lifting his head up, he shook the snow off his head and crawled onto the bank in time to see someone stood by the tree's, watching him, again with haste, he stood up and quickly said, "I meant to do that!" Though as he let his eyes linger on who it was, he noticed it was Fay, that line wouldnt have convinced anyone anyway, but trying to pull the wool, or snow, over Felicity Locke's eyes was impossible, shiftily and a little embarrassed, he admitted, "Okay, no I didnt. I was attempting to skate... Obviously... It didnt work. Im not too graceful on ice."

Snow fell in small tufts from the sky as she watched from the window, nearly sighing. Felicity laid sprawled out on her bed, with her quick-quotes quill poised and waiting for her next response. The quill tapped on the paper, drawing her attention back to the essay that she was supposed to be revising. Well, why waste a nice snow day like this working on a silly paper that wasn’t due for another week? As a grin spread across her features, she twisted onto her stomach and snatched the quill from where is sat above her paper. Almost as quickly, Fay rolled up the parchment and tossed it into her bag, along with the quill.
She would most obviously need to bundle up more. Anyone who knew her could tell you that she had absolutely no body heat. Felicity was constantly bundled up in several layers in the winter, so it was no surprise when she dragged a sweater over her head, and then tossed on her coat. And, for good measure, she pulled on some mittens to warm her already chilled fingers. Finally satisfied that she wouldn’t turn into a popsicle once she stepped outside, Fay grabbed up her hat and made her way quickly out of her dorm room.
Fay managed to trip and stumble down several steps as she oh-too eagerly raced down the stairs. Her legs would most certainly have bruises later, but lucky for her winter permitted her to actually wear pants. Thank goodness for winter fashion right? Grumbling, Felicity made her way down the stairs again, this time at a much slower pace. After what seemed like ages later, she finally found herself standing in front of the door that led to the outside world. Tugging on the hat that conveniently matched her gloves, Felicity pushed open the door and was greeted by a rush of cold air.
The equally chilly breeze bit at her cheeks, causing a red flush to fill them. Fay swept her hand across the snow, tossing it into the air in a small flurry of flakes. She let out a small, girlish giggle. Her face was alight with a childish grin as she scooped up snow in her hands and threw it up into the air. Snow flakes fell around her, landing in her hair and on her face. But, in all of her merriment, she failed to notice that she was standing dangerously close to the alleged snow dementor. Fay spun around to gather up more snow, but paused once she saw the figure in the snow. Her gaze was drawn to the signature at the top, and she laughed lightly. Kieran, of course.
Deciding that she didn’t want to accidentally ruin the snow dementor, Felicity decided to make a small trek over to the lake. It should be frozen over by now, which always did make the lake look eerily beautiful. Fay hummed softly under her breath as she walked down the hill to the lake simultaneously dragging her hand through the snow and making a small trail. She was seemingly oblivious to the fact that someone else had already beaten her to the spot, until she heard the figure speak of course.
Felicity blinked a bit and placed her hand onto the trunk of the tree she was nearest to. Using that for support, Fay leaned forward and squinted her eyes, trying to better make out the person’s features. A look of confusion crossed her face for a moment, before quickly overcome by a grin as laughter bubbled from her mouth. A face plant into the snow would certainly do that to you. Felicity covered her mouth with her gloved hand in an attempt to silence her giggles, only to laugh even more when Kieran popped up out of the snow like a daisy in spring. “Obviously. Put on a good show though.” She slid rather hesitantly down to where Kieran was standing after she spoke. Brushing some of the hair from her eyes, Fay conjured a grin and looked back up at Kieran. “Mind if I give it a shot?” She glanced for a moment out at the lake, eyeing the ice to make sure that it wouldn’t break once she set foot on it.

Well Kieran would be thankful Fay hadnt destroyed his snow dementor, it had taken him all of five minutes hard flapping about to create the thing, and though it was a snow angel gone wrong, nobody else needed to know that, did they? Of course, anyone with half a brain would know Kieran's snow dementor was in fact a snow angel gone stupidly wrong, afterall, many who knew him knew Kieran wasnt exactly artistic. He couldnt even draw a straight line with a ruler, somehow those always managed to come out bent, he often said he had a defected ruler.
The snow was falling down in spirals, thickly too so it was pretty difficult to see anyone unless you were pretty close to them or concentrated exceptionally hard, however, as Kieran squinted through the snow, he didnt really have to concentrate to know who it was, or hear her voice. Fay had a certain arora about her which spread out around everyone, he could sort of sense her there. Sort of, though he was still a little unsure so he didnt pipe up and go `hayeee Fay!` Just incase it wasnt her and he ended up looking like a bigger moron than he already looked like right now.
Popping up out of the snow so he was stood up, the snow falling off him as he scrambled to his feet, he gave a cheesy sort of grin, brushing the snow off his shoulders and chest, though not really seeing the point of doing so since more fell on him anyway, he watched as she tried to stop the laughter, though when he seemed to just stand up and 'grow' out of the snow, her laughter apparently couldnt be contained and she laughed at him. This made his face light up somewhat, slightly happy he'd been able to make her laugh, that could be quite challenging sometimes, though Kieran lived to make people laugh. So he told himself anyway.
"Obviously I do!" He replied a little enthusiastically, snow always brought out the inner child in anyone, Kieran was no different. He held his hands out in case he needed to catch her or something, just incase she fell over to get down to where he was, he couldnt have a casulty on him now could he, afterall, he couldnt be trusted to stay on his feet, let alone get her safely back to the castle. When Fay looked at the lake, his eyes followed and he realised, rather late and stupidly, that it was a little bit beautiful, yet, it wasnt as beautiful as it should be. Another realisation hit him, he had not answered Fay, just staring blank eyed and rather dopilly at the lake. "What? Oh, right. Uh, yeah of course..." His brows knitted together for a moment in confusion as he conjured some more skates up. Kieran helped her put them on her feet, allowing her to lean against him if she needed to. Once they were on, and properly tied, Kieran stepped onto the ice once more, again a little shakily, but he concentrated and found he was able to keep his footing, a little anyway. Though, give him five, maybe ten minutes and no doubt he will be on his arse again.
Slowly turning so he was facing Fay, he held his hands out to her, while concentrating on trying not to fall, "Lets hope the ice doesnt crack" He laughed, though he knew if it held his weight, it would definatly hold Fays, besides, it seemed thick enough, afterall, he had fell over full whack on it before, it would have broken then if it was going to. "Come on..." He smiled, his hands still holding out in mid air to Fay.

Felicity could distinctly remember a time when she was younger when she would race outside to make snow angels. Little Fay would flail as hard as she could in the snow, but always managed to get a lop-sided angel. Her mother assured her that it was perfect the way it was, even if one wing was larger than the other. The yard would be littered with little snow angels and footprints from Fay, and slowly it became a tradition in the house to have at least one snow angel. Laughing a bit from the thought, Fay shook her head and continued her trudge over to the lake. Perhaps another time she’d be a dork and make a snow angel.
The snow only seemed to fall more as she neared the lake, making it harder for her to see anyone at all. As she concentrated and squinted, trying to make out the figure in the snow, her vision was only blurred by the constant falling flurries. Snow flakes clung to her hair and melted as soon as they graced her face. The tip was her nose was beginning to turn a soft pink from the cold, and her cheeks remained their flushed red. At least her ears were toasty under the hat, and her fingers weren’t going numb from the cold. Another breeze blew by, and she shivered lightly. Sitting here wasn’t going to warm her up at all.
Her laugh seemed to penetrate the silence that had settled on the lake. The rather comical look that Kieran gave her only helped to fuel her laughter, as she clung to her sides and tried to remember how to breathe. He only seemed to grin more while she fought with herself to stop laughing. Her sides were starting to burn from the effort, and slowly her laughter subsided into giggles, and then she was finally able to stop. Letting out a small sigh, a few stray giggles escaped, and she grimaced as she rubbed her cheeks. “My cheeks are sore from laughing now. Thanks a lot.”
Felicity was quite proud of the fact that she had made it down the hill without falling flat on her face. In case she did trip, Kieran seemed to be ready to catch her. Obviously, Fay’s balance issues weren’t a secret to anybody. Grinning sheepishly, she brushed her hair from her eyes and waited for him to respond. Kieran’s attention was on the lake though, and she couldn’t mistake that dazed look that came over him. Finally, he seemed to remember her presence and spluttered an answering. Fay giggled softly as he conjured up the skates in a flustered manner and held them out to her.
Gripping onto his shoulder, she tugged on one of the skates, and then bent down to tie it. She did the same with the next one, and thanked Kieran after they were both tightly secured. Her bravery about skating seemed to diminish as Kieran stepped onto the ice, shakily even for him, but managed to stay upright. If he was having trouble skating, then she was doomed. Fay’s eyes widened as she looked at the ice, and bit down on her lower lip to keep it from trembling.
“Don’t say that!” She squeaked in her worry as Fay hesitantly slid onto the ice. Felicity wobbled a bit as she clung to Kieran for dear life and tried to focus on not falling. “Don’t let me fall.” She mumbled as she turned to stare wide-eyed up at him. Hesitantly, she slid one skate forward, and in response her legs wobbled again. Without thinking, she let go on Kieran and flailed her arms in an attempt to regain her balance. That only worsened her condition, and with an ‘oof’, she fell flat on her bum.

It was fun to be out in the snow, Kieran loved it, it was the one time of the year you could really act like a kid without anyone second-glancing at you, though, not that it mattered to Kieran, but if you were his friend you pretty much saw the childish side of him more than the adult side anyway, in fact, Ollie had once said that it wouldnt surprise him if Kieran still thought girls had cooties. Kieran was daft, but he wasnt that daft, he didnt believe they had cooties, but the fact a lot of them were scary was usually enough reason to stay away. Though, Kieran found younger females a lot more intimidating than his own age, more people around the third or fourth year, he just usually didnt know what to say to them and often found himself wondering if he was being improper, then he would get worried about giving her the wrong signs, become flustered which usually made it worse, and then he would finish off making some lame excuse to get away and go and hide underneath his bed.
Felicity Locke. Now here you found where Kieran truely messes up. He knew to never annoy Fay unless he actually wanted to die, which he didnt so he tried to stay in her good books, though more often than not Kieran says the right thing at the wrong time with Fay, or just the wrong thing in general, though he does recover quickly and tends to do something stupid to make her laugh and forget that she was supposed to be annoyed with him. His first impression on Fay had not been a very good one, and he learned quickly from that mistake. Walking past her in the corridor, slapping her arse and telling her she was a bit fit back in the third year was never a good thing to do to a Veela, he hadnt known she was a veela at the time. She had gripped him by the neck of the robes, pinned him against the wall and had her wand at the base of his neck before he could even blink, though instead of cursing him, she kneed him right between the legs instead and told him, never to do that again. Safe to say he never did, and eventually they grew to be friends.
Laughter was infectious, Kieran knew it, Fay knew it, the squid and merpeople probably knew it. Though, he was managing to keep his own laughter to small silent giggles, it was obvious he was laughing, and his grin just kept on getting bigger by the moment. "Laughing is painful." Kieran answered, putting on the most serious expression he could muster for a few seconds before cracking into a grin again, "Though I dont know why, fun things arent supposed to hurt. Or so I'm told." His eyes shifted back to the iced over lake, it had hurt a little when he fell on his front, the wind had been knocked from him.
Once Fay reached him successfully at the bottom of the hill, without falling, and was safely on levelish ground, Kieran let out an applause and a series of 'whoops' and 'yippee's. Everyone who knew Fay knew her sense of balance was dreadful, worse than his was, worse than anybody he knew. Fay was definatly the clutz.
The lake was beautiful, postcard picture beautiful, but he still agreed on what he thought before, its beauty was duller than it should have been. The reason behind the dazed look was because he was trying to figure out why it looked a little dull to him, but he couldnt. Once he realised Fay was actually looking at him he turned back, stuttered out his reply and clumsily conjured up some skates for her, she giggled at him and he found himself flushed slightly, though he could pretend that was the cold in the air, so he cleared his throat, and put his arm around her back as she clutched to his shoulder to put on her own skates, once she had finished, he stepped onto the ice, wobbling slightly but maintaining his balance.
"Dont worry Fay, if it was going to break it would have broken when I fell head first on it before." He smiled and caught her as she stepped onto the ice, somehow managing to keep them both steady, once he was sure neither were moving, he slackened his grip around her and instead took hold of her hand to try to keep her steady, well if she fell, he would fall. He looked down at her as she spoke, almost like his thought had crossed into her, though how could he say 'ill try' when she stared at him with puppy-dog eyes? "I wont let you fall." He smiled, though how he would do that when he was having enough trouble to keep himself upright, he didnt know. He felt her wobble, the next thing he knew she had let go of his hand, though not before he had fell slightly sideways himself, his balance now off, within a moment, both Kieran and Fay were on the ice, Fay landed on her bum and Kieran on his chest again, still sliding slightly in her direction because of the momentum. Grinning as he lay there, sliding along he said in the most cheery voice he could muster, "I failed."

Apparently third year was when Fay went from cute little, angelic looking girl to being the attractive veela we all know and love. Of course, it wasn’t Kieran’s fault that he didn’t know about her…er…temper. Sadly, he found out the hard way. After the famous butt slap (which Fay will never let him forget), Kieran found out that not only was it bad to piss a veela off, but it was bad to piss off a certain veela that made sure she was strong enough to beat someone down. Fay walked away from the whole event with only a sore bum, while Kieran was crumpled on the floor in pain and probably wouldn’t move for another hour or so. Needless to say, he learned his lesson.
And now here they were, and odd pair of friends laughing like the day was perfect. It’s strange to think that two people could go from dislike and fear (fear on Kieran’s part at least) to laughing together until their sides hurts. Fay just nodded at his statement and rubbed her cheeks again. “Indeed. Maybe we’re not supposed to laugh too much?” She made a show of putting an over exaggerated frown on her face while her lower lip puckered out in an adorably heartbreaking expression. Dramatic? Huh, maybe.
Fay flushed at Kieran’s applause and pretended to be annoyed, but she was secretly pleased with herself. “It wasn’t that great.” She muttered, flushing again. It was rather comical that she was supposed to be a graceful, poised veela, while she tripped over her own feet and managed to fall on her face at least seventy-five percent of the time. Ah yes, Christi would be proud.
“How do you know that the two of us together won’t break the ice?” She said in a worried voice as they drifted out further. “The ice will break and then we’ll plummet into the water and drown because the skates will prevent us from swimming.” Felicity whimpered a bit at the thought and glared down at the ice, silently willing it not to break. Perhaps she was worrying too much, but that tended to happen frequently. Poor anxiety ridden Fay.
The answering smile Felicity graced Kieran with was small, but held a child-like quality like when a parent promises to chase away the monsters from the closet. But, even with the promise, Fay still managed to somehow land roughly on her bum, and she spun in a small circle when she landed. Kieran fell too, probably because of her, and was sliding over to her. Felicity reached out and gripped his sleeve to stop herself from spinning. “That’s the second time you’ve hurt my bum now.” She responded with a small grin.
Finally when the two stopped drifting over the ice, Felicity found that they were stuck further away from land than she had wanted. As she glanced worriedly over at the shore, Fay attempted to get on her knees to try to stand. She shifted one skate forward, but failed rather epically and only managed to land on Kieran’s back. At least she only fell sideways and didn’t face plant on him. “Sorry.” She squeaked as she tried to roll off him, but as a result she started to slide away from him again. “I think we both fail.” Fay muttered in a shaky voice as she glanced back over to land and tried to will herself to be closer to it.

Kieran had never met 'pre cripple Kieran'-Fay, so he couldnt give an opinion of when Fay went from being cute and adorable to rather beautiful. He had only ever seen the beautiful Fay, he was very unobservant when he was fourteen, and when Fay walked past her, well he couldnt very well just let her walk past him without making himself know, though now he thought about it, there were better ways to make yourself known. Safer ways. Fay had given Kieran a good ass kicking, which even now, she never let him forget that moment, nor did Ollie or Lucas ever let him live down being beaten up by a girl. It was embarrassing, but he learned his lesson well and truely and kept his hands away from Fays bum, despite the random urges every now and then to squeeze it depending on what pants she wore and how noticeable her curves were. He had to remind himself in those times, he was well behaved with her now, unless he wanted to be crippled again, possibly forever.
Kieran did fear Fay's temper. He certainly wouldnt mess with her again, nor would he ever do anything to overstep his mark with her. Now, if she crossed the line, he wouldnt complain however, but he was not going to be the one to instigate it, he liked his genetals intact thankyou very much. "Maybe, but wheres the fun in not laughing? Laughing is the worlds medicine, makes it go round and... stuff." He didnt really know where that sentance was going, though as she has spoke she had pulled quite an adorable face which made him lose his train of thought and once more made him sound like an idiot. Quickly composing himself, he fought the urge to flick her lip gently, laughing at the thought, it wasnt worth his life.
"Oh come on Fay, you walked down a snowy hill without falling once!" Laughing to show he was only jesting he continued "That has to be like a personal record or something for you."
"I dont know, for all I know it could break, but theres no fun in not taking a chance." Kieran wasnt moving his feet, he was just allowing himself to float casually over the ice, it was easier to skate if you didnt move, just let yourself glide. Kieran doubted the ice would break, it was surprisingly strong, but he couldnt be sure if he was completley honest, maybe he should have assured Fay it wouldnt break...
As he looked back at Fay and saw the smile, pure innocence, which he thought was ironic, he felt a little guilty at making a promise he may not be able to keep, but how could he say no to Fay? It was an impossibility for him, he just couldnt. If she asked him to jump of a bridge now, he probably would, well maybe not but you got the point. The fact he couldnt keep his promise was soon shown when Fay fell on her bum, Kieran failed? Yes, I think maybe. Soon after Kieran fell and found himself sliding over to her, she grabbed his sleeve which stopped her spinning but turned him around, he was still facing her though and each had hold of the other. Gimacing slightly when she brought back the memory of the third year, Kieran just winced. "Aw, Fay did you have to remind me of that?" He would have protected his genetals then if he could, but he was still flat on his stomach, "I couldnt sit for a week."
He allowed her time to try and get her feet before he bothered trying to find his. Though, he was watching her with interest, one skate forward and kneel, then try to push yourself up. Though it didnt work and soon enough Fay was back down, though, rather than land beside him, she landed on him. He felt his back crack slightly and let out a small 'oomph' noise. he twisted his neck to look at her and gave a cheeky sort of grin. "M'not worried." Kieran weezed, of course he was thinking 'not a bad view' but he wouldnt say it in fear for certain body parts. She rolled off him and began to slide away from him again, "Yeah, but we had fun failing." Was his reply as he shuffled himself so he was gliding towards her, finally managing to catch her he gripped hold of her, though not tightly, around the waist and rested his head on her leg near her knee as they slid over the ice. "I gotcha!"

“Or maybe we’re killing ourselves by laughing. Did you ever think of that?” Felicity tapped his nose as she said it and smirked. There was once, and only once, when the two did happen to overstep the line. But, she tried to not dwell on that. He rambled a bit and seemed to lose his train of thought as he stared down at her puppy-dog expression. A small smirk tugged at the corner of her lips but she fought it, not wanting to make him any more embarrassed than he already seemed to be.
“I have been known to not trip over my own feet now and again.” She muttered, rolling her eyes. It was all a big jest that Felicity Locke, resident veela, was clumsy as hell. Christi’s defense was that it was her father’s fault. Apparently Robert Locke had been graced with two left feet as well. And this was the exact reason why Fay was completely horrid at dancing. Most likely she’d either trip and tackle her date, or break his foot by stomping on him with her heel. Oh, you have another foot, you’ll be fine!
“Yes but there’s a lot of fun in actually living through this event.” As she spoke, her voice rose several octaves in her worry. They weren’t even moving their feet, just sort of drifting, yet Fay was scared about both of them slamming to the ground and then breaking through the glass. Yay hypothermia! Grimacing at the thought, she stared wide-eyed down at the ice, just basically waiting for it to crack and open up so she could fall to her death.
She clung onto his sleeve with both hands to keep herself from drifting away. Laughing lightly at his expression, she shot him an innocent grin. “Never gunna let you forget it dear.” Her expression took a wicked edge as she pat his head lightly. “You’re lucky it was only a week.” Her grin grew until it revealed her teeth, before she laughed. “Won’t happen now, trust me. No need to mess up that pretty face. Fay patted his cheek as she spoke.
Felicity was dazed for a moment after she landed on him. But, after his nonchalant answer, she snorted. “Not worried? I think I might’ve broken your back.” And then, as she tried to roll off, karma seemed to be having a laugh at her and made her slide further away from him. Fay tried to stop herself by digging her nails into the ice, but it was too thick for her to do so. “These are the times when I wish I was part cat like Bray.” She grumbled, trying to not dwell on the fact that she was stuck in the middle of the lake without any way of actually stopping herself from moving.
She squeaked as he wrapped his arms around her waist to steady her, yet they continued to glide. Fay tried not to think about how awkward the situation was at the moment. They passed over a small bump–probably a rock frozen in the ice—and Fay’s breath hissed through her teeth as pain shot up her back. “I’m starting to think that this was a very bad idea.”

Scratching his chin as though thinking hard, his face scrunched up as though in concentration and his eyes looking upwards at the sky. He stayed like this for a few seconds before suddenly saying, "Nope, cant says I ever did think of that." She tapped his nose and he pouted as she did, going crosseyed slightly to look at her finger. Though they had crossed the line, about as far over the line as the two of them had ever gone, Kieran remembered it, and he was sure Fay had too. Though thats what happens when you get drunk with a Veela, stuff happens, you do some stupid things, and then when you wake up the next morning to a scream of 'Oh my god!' A slap to wake him up and a slight confusion of what happened the night before. Kieran had tried to talk to Fay about it on numerous occasions, but after being slapped hundreds of times and told to shut up, he eventually gave up and admitted defeat, following in her footsteps of 'the night we must never mention again.'
"You have?" Kieran put on a shocked expression and slapped the sides of his face in mock horror, instantly regretting it however, it just added to the sting of the cold air. He found it funny, a Veela was supposed to be graceful, not clumsy and he always thought Veela were blonde, then Fay came along and just destroyed what Kieran always thought Veela were. Fay was clumsy, graceful sometimes, but more clumsy, and dark haired. When he had found out she was a Veela, the amount of questions he had asked, she probably felt like she was on trial for committing a murder.
"Fay! Stop worrying, we'll be fine. The ice wont break." As though attempting to prove his point he jumped up and down, though almost slipped and very nearly fell over. "See? Safe as houses." Though, he noticed her look down at the ice, unconviced? He didnt know, but he was convinced it wouldnt break at any rate.
The only hing he ever regretting doing with Fay was the one thing she would never let him forget. Whatever had possessed him to slap her arse when she was in her third year, and him in his fourth, he would never know. Though he had done it, and now he had to live with the endless torments, not just from Fay, but from Ollie too, 'Kieran, do you remember when Felicity Locke beat you down in the corridor back in the fourth year?' How could he forget? His jewels hadnt been quite right since then, or so he said. "Yeah but it was a week of pain, you should have seen me in Lesson's fay, having to sit on hard chairs that was more than uncomfortable anyway, add the fact that my jewels were damaged, I could have cried it was that painful!" He gave a laugh, but he wasnt joking, everytime he had sat down, tears stung his eyes for a week afterward, she tapped his face and he looked down at her, when she spoke he grinned, "Awh Fay!" He joked, "I always knew you thought I was pretty." Though his voice was joking, he was secretly chuffed at the slight compliment.
The wind had been knocked out of him, and while she sat on him he was wheezing rather than breathing. "Mm, no you're not heavy enough to break my back." He told her as she slipped off him and began sliding away, he watched as she tried to dig her nails into the ice and heard her grumble, but he didnt quite hear what she grumbled. Somehow managing to propell himself forward, he wrapped his arms around her waist, to steady her and to make sure they didnt drift too far apart and rested his head on her leg, she gave a slight squeak, to which Kieran gave a laugh as the two glided over the ice and further away from land. Bump. Her leg jerked as they went over the rock frozen in the ice, and since Kierans head was on her leg his head bounced slightly painfully. "Yeah... I can see why." He mumbled. They probably looked pretty funny from onlookers, Kieran lay down on the ice, his arms around Fay and his head on her leg, Fay sat up looking a bit less than amused. This thought made him laugh. "Bad idea or not though, you're having fun, right?" For some reason, Fay having fun was a lot more important to him than anything else right now, if she wasnt having fun, he'd have to try something else.
What? He didnt know.

Felicity laughed at his ‘deep thinking’ expression and rolled her eyes. “I guess I should’ve expected that. I’m the morbid one.” As he went cross-eyed trying to see her finger, she let out another giggle. “Don’t strain yourself too much their Kieran, wouldn’t want to fry your brain.” Fay hadn’t even told her mother about what happened, and she planned to keep it a secret. Though, Kieran wanted to talk about it considering the two weren’t entirely sure what happened—Fay was way too drunk and Kieran was charmed—and she would rather try not to remember it.
Huffing, Fay smacked his arm. “Yes I have, rude. I can be graceful…sometimes.” Indeed, Felicity was probably not the first picture that comes to mind when imagining a veela. In truth, they were supposed to be blonde, graceful and able to make any man fall for them. Fay, not so much. She was a brunette, with hair so dark it was almost black. Instead of having the natural straight hair, hers curled. And, she was probably the clumsiest person in the whole school. Perhaps all of that was part of her charm, or she just took too many genes from her father’s side, rather than her mother’s.
“So you say. But are you an ice master? No, I didn’t think so.” She grumbled, just for the sake of ranting to get her mind off of her worries. Felicity let out a terrified squeak as he began jumping. “Don’t do that!” Yea sure, let’s test our luck and jump on the ice! Better yet, let’s jump while we have skates on and probably have both of us fall down. Yippee!
Felicity had a lot of regrets, but putting Kieran in his place probably wasn’t one of them. Sure, she probably could’ve done it a bit less painfully, but actions speak louder than words right? Kieran seemed to flinch at the memory, and Fay only smiled sheepishly. Ollie had gotten quite a kick out of the event. She distinctly remembered him congratulating her later on, though at the time she had no idea why. When she told Bray what happened, he just seemed to roll her eyes and walk away. “I didn’t think I hit you that hard, but I’m sorry for your ability to sit being impaired.” But, her small compliment seemed to cheer up Kieran considerably. “Mm, don’t get a big head there.”
“Not heavy enough to break your back, just severely damage your lungs. Yea, not so bad.” She grumbled again. As they drifted, probably looking like two idiots on the ice, she cringed to think of what would happen if anyone else they knew actually saw them. Bray would never let her live it down. “Painful, but slightly fun, I’ll admit.” She muttered under her breath.
Now the fact that they were drifting toward the middle of the lake, away from the land, and probably to the weakest point of the ice wasn’t helping Fay to calm down. “We’re going to die. The ice is going to break and we’re going to die. Look! It’s getting thinner. Oh god this was such a bad idea.” She glanced worriedly down at the ice. Though it was getting slightly thinner, it wasn’t enough to actually break and have the two plummet into the water, she was just overreacting as usual. “We’re going to die.” She whimpered again. As a last resort—and without all of her knowledge—her fear triggered the survival instinct, and her charm was blasted full force. Did she even realize? Not really, no.

"Serious." He spoke simply and dropped his hand from his chin, looking at Fay with a smile on his face as though nothing was wrong in the world. "You need to lighten up a bit. When was the last time you just forgot about worrying and had a laugh with a mate? Let your guard down and just acted like a teenager." He put his arm around her shoulders, still smiling. Kieran would openly admit that her wanting to keep what happened a secret had severly dented his ego, though of course Fay was adamant on never ever mentioning it so he couldnt say it. He knew she didnt want to remember it and Kieran had just let it go. Sometimes you couldnt win them all. Well, Kieran never won any debates with Fay but that was obviously besides the point.
"When? When have you ever been graceful?" He asked with a laugh, flinching back his arm as she slapped it, "You always fall over, you attack unsuspecting males... Your the she-devil you are!" Course, he was only teasing her, he didnt really mean what he was saying, he was laughing anyway, so she should know not to take him too seriously. Fay didnt look much like the veela he had always thought of, but saying that, now he was used to the idea of Fay being a Veela and the fact that she didnt look like a normal one, if he met a normal looking blonde haired, blue eyed graceful Veela, he'd probably think they were odd. The thought of this made him chuckle somewhat, he could imagine some blonde haired girl telling him she was a veela, only to have Kieran turn around and say something like 'you look odd.'
"Yeesh, give me an inch of a line here!" Kieran sighed, "I tell you it could break, you panic. I reassure you, or try to and you tell me you'd rather believe it would break! I cant win! I give up!" He looked back at her once he'd finished jumping up and down and shook his head, "I even prove it wont and you still doubt me, I may not be as smart as Ravenclaw, but I have got some sense you know."
He didnt blame her for not regretting crippling him, in all honesty that had been a turning point for him. He had never slapped another girls ass unless he had been dating them and he never disrespected another girl either. Come to think of it, Fay was probably the reason Kieran was actually terrified of girls. Especially younger ones, they tended to be the most terrifying. You never quite knew when one was going to turn on you, they were scary creatures. "It doesnt matter how hard you hit someone, hit someone, especially a guy, in their nether-regions its bound to cause some long lasting pain! A week's worth in my case, and yes, you hit me really hard, Fay. Im hardly likely to forget." It was true, he would never forget it, even if Ollie and Fay allowed him to try. "Yeah, You'd pop it anyway if I did."
"It could have been worse." If she was twelve stone heavier maybe, apart from the wind being knocked out of him, and cracking his back for him, it hadnt really done anything else. She was quite light, "You could have been fifty stone and squashed me." He laughed, though he didnt think he would ever give a fifty stone person chance to sit on him. That would just be majorly uncomfortable. "See! I knew you were enjoying yourself."
Uh oh, here she goes again. Kieran thought he had assured her that the ice would not break, and soon enough she was rambling on about it again. He rolled his eyes and looked over across the lake, sure the ice was thinner further out, but they werent close enough to the thin ice that would break yet. In fact, Kieran was sure they were nowhere near it. He sat up off her and took her hands, his coat was slightly dripping now from the ice but he didnt mind so much, he couldnt feel it. "Fay, Fay... Fay! Calm down, the ice isnt going to break. We're not far enough out for it to be that thin yet," He placed his legs either side of her and dug the blades from his skates into the ice, stopping them from drifting any further. He could have done that before, but he was far too comfy laying on Fay to get up. "We're not going to die. Not today anyway. So stop worrying Fay your gonna be--" Something washed over him, hitting him full force and making him feel slightly disorientated for a little while. His eyes shifted from focus for a minute before going back to normal, unknown to him. Kieran had once again fell under Fay's charm, and how easily he fell under it each time.
"--fine, Fay? Did I ever tell you your actually really beautiful?" He tilted his head to the side slightly and gave a grin. How many times now? The second time he was under her charm? This would be considered bad if Kieran could actually control himself, but right now he was completely under Fay's spell, and we all know how well that turned out last time. He would bet, if her mother knew about her putting him under her charm twice, she would be proud. He bent forward, but somewhere in his mind he was able to pull back slightly, only very slighly though, and though he couldnt stop himself from doing what he was about to do, at least he restrained himself on dragging her to him, unlike last time, as he gave her a rather quick, swift kiss. "Really, you are."
He would probably kick his own arse tomorrow for this. If Fay didnt do it now.

“See, now why would I do that?” Felicity turned her gaze away from him and back out to the lake. “Who would be the sensible one then?” She muttered, forcing a smile onto her lips as she glanced back up at him. Truthfully, Fay couldn’t remember a time when she didn’t worry about what would happen if she did something risky. The consequences were always in the back of her mind, nagging at her. After having to take care of her rather eccentric mother after her father died, she always seemed to be a bit more cautious.
“I’ll tell you when.” She turned so she was facing him and she jabbed her finger into his chest. “At that dance thing we had last year, I didn’t trip once. Granted I didn’t dance, but that’s beside the point.” Ah dancing, wouldn’t that be nice? Fay often envied her mother’s obvious grace; something that Felicity had most certainly hadn’t inherited. Her mother could spin around the dance floor without even stumbling, it was amazing. She almost sighed at the thought. “She-devil? Have you been talking to Bray lately?”
Felicity grinned apologetically. “I can’t help it. I always worry. By now, I’ve probably thought of at least twenty ways we could die on this ice.” She shrugged lightly and turned back to glaring at the ice. “I think I skipped over the ‘hope for the best’ part and just jumped straight to ‘prepare for the worst’.” Fay muttered, grinning slightly in spite of herself.
“Well I didn’t mean to cripple you. I was only thirteen, you couldn’t expect me to understand the amount of pain that caused. Plus, you were probably the third person to do that in a week, I was a little peeved, to say the least.” Fay grimaced at the memory. Wasn’t it ironic? Most girls would be at least slightly flattered that some boy was paying a wink of attention, but Fay was just generally pissed off at the whole idea. Honestly, she would’ve rather been left alone. If Christi heard her say that, she was pretty sure her mother would have a heart attack.
“…I guess.” It could’ve been way worse. For instance, her skate could’ve pierced his leg and then he’d be bleeding everywhere while she freaked out and flailed a lot. Or, she could’ve kneed him in the back and really broken his spine, which would paralyze him and she would have to drag him back to land. Or rather, push him back to land. She shuddered and clamped her hands over her ears. “Now you shouldn’t have said that! I’ll have nightmares for weeks.”
Fay was completely oblivious to the fact that Kieran had moved, until his warm hands were clutching her cold ones, jerking her out of her ranting. “But you don’t know that! The merpeople could smash through the ice and make us fall in.” She nearly whimpered as she said this, but her eyes were wide. “I can’t help but worry. It’s what I’ve done all my life.” Because obviously, Christi wasn’t going to show Fay that she was worried, so she took the role on herself.
“We’re not going to die. Not today anyway.”
Oh there was a comforting thought! We’re not going to die this second, but it’s coming soon! So don’t worry, you’ll be dead soon enough. Kieran cut off for a moment though and a dazed look crossed over his features. Felicity blinked and waved her hand in front of his face, and after a moment he seemed to come to. He even finished his sentence after blanking out for a minute. But, at his last statement, her mouth twisted to a grim line and she took her hands from his. “Don’t start that again. You know how I feel about-” But she didn’t finish her sentence because Kieran’s lips pressed against hers.
Felicity pressed her hands against his chest and shoved, pushing him away from her and pushing herself further back. Her cheeks were flamed red, but she couldn’t really focus on the embarrassment at the moment. What was his problem?! But, after actually looking at his face, she soon figured out why. And, try as she might, she couldn’t seem to turn the veela charm off. Her once enflamed cheeks paled. “Oh no, oh no. Snap out of it Kieran! This is not the time or the place!” As she spoke, she tried to push herself further back, trying to get away from him.

“Honestly, Fay? I don’t know.” He said it with a sigh, almost like he had given up trying to get her to stop worrying. Afterall, if he hadn’t succeeded in the past three years he was hardly likely to succeed now was he? “All I’m saying is, once in a while its not a bad thing to just go all out, have fun, and worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes.” How could people live their lives always worrying? It would drive Kieran nuts. He who never worried.
Kieran folded his arms over his chest and looked at Fay as she jabbed a finger in his chest, rather painfully too since she had nails. “Wouldn’t know, I wasn’t there.” He shrugged, it was true, Kieran hadn’t gone to the ball last year, and from what he was told, he hadn’t missed much either. It had been rather dull from what he had heard. “Why would I have been talking to Bray recently?” Kieran rarely spoke to the one named kitty boy. “Honestly, I only ever see him when he’s with you.”
“Well that’s morbid.” Kieran stated when she told him that, honestly why did she have to think of ways she could die? Did she do this walking down the street? Possibily on which crack she was going to get a heel stuck in and trip and break her neck? It really was a morbid way to think. Kieran sucked air in through his teeth, held it for a minute and then let it back out. “Really? I never noticed.” His innocent expression came on his face as he looked at Fay, his words dripping in sarcasm. “Imagine that…” He looked upto the sky as though he had gone into his own little world, “…Fay Locke… preparing for the worst. Never thought I’d see the day.”
“Why not?” Kieran was shocked, every girl learned that hitting a guy between their legs was the worst thing you could do to them. “Everyone else knows not to squish a mans jewels, obviously not you though.” As though this thought once more triggered a painful memory, Kierans face screwed up in slight agony. “Sometimes… I feel it still… Like… when you mention it.” So that made it alright? She just ignored every other guy and Kieran was the one who pulled the short straw, he wasn’t a small kid back then either, smaller than he was now but not small, picking on him well it was smart. He wouldn’t have done anything back, if his mother found out what he had done she’d have killed him. Disrespecting females… I taught you better than that Kieran Scott Davies. No you didn’t… Ollie’s mum did actually you witch.
“And the sky could fall down. The earth could implode. World war seven could break out.” He ranted, “A lot of things could happen, but it doesn’t mean they will.” He was holding her hands tightly in his as he reeled off the things that could happen, unlikely, but could, trying to make her see there was always a ‘could be’ in things, but rarely the ‘could be’ things happened. The ice was not going to break. That he was certain of. “Well, you should stop or you’re going to get worry lines on your pretty little head.” He was completely serious when he spoke, Fay should worry less, “You’re sixteen. Act like a sixteen year old. Worry about boyfriends and friends… homework or whatever it is you Ravenclaws do. Stop worrying about things you shouldn’t be worrying about. Its unhealthy.”
No, they weren’t going to die, not today, not tomorrow. Maybe sixty years down he line, but hey everyone died eventually, the bodies weren’t made for a long lasting period. You were dying from the moment you were born. That’s what Kieran’s mum told him anyway. Charming woman, have you ever met her? You really don’t want to, she’s evil and wasn’t at all impressed when Kieran was placed in Gryffindor seeing as how both his mother, and father’s family were Slytherins through and through. No wonder he preferred to stay with Ollie. Of course, Only Ollie knew about how his parents were, they loved Kieran because he was their son, they were just never around anymore.
Kieran felt unusually tingly. It was kind of a good feeling, he was happy, and when he looked at Fay she seemed to shine. She was the most beautiful thing he had seen, so why shouldn’t he tell her that. The dazed look soon passed, but the spell was still upon him. He couldn’t help the thoughts which came to his mind right now, this wasn’t his fault. He usually backed off with Fay, not wanting to overstep the mark, now it didn’t matter. He just wanted her. Again. Though he kissed her, despite the fact she was talking right now Kieran Davies didn’t care. Kieran Davies was charmed. Veela repellent on the cards? I think yes.
“I know, but why shouldn’t I tell you if you’re beautiful? Would you prefer to me to pretend that your ugly and that I’m not attracted to you?” He spoke as she pushed him away and pushed herself away from him. His voice was slightly hurt, as though he had just been abandoned at the altar or something, he felt crushed and looked down. “I cant help it if I’m attracted to you Fay, just like you cant help being beautiful.” He gave a sigh and looked back up at her, “I may be no Veela, I may not have the charm you guys have but I aint exactly disgusting to look at. What do I have to be to get you even slightly interested in me? Turn up at your doorstep with roses and chocolate? Serenading you?” His brows were furrowed as he spoke, he saw her pale and heard her talk to him. She kept on pushing herself back, further away from him and this just made Kieran more hurt. She had rejected him and to him that was more painful than destroying his jewels. “Snap out of what, Fay? Snap out of liking you? I’m sorry but I don’t have a switch in my head which allows me to do that.” Rejection was painful. Even a fake rejection…
It seemed the charm was having a negative effect on him. He wasn’t fighting for her, or wooing over her, drooling and just generally trying to get into her. He was now sat on the ice as she kept pushing herself away from him, with a destroyed look on his face, his shoulders hunched forwards, not looking at Fay at all. He had a soft spot for her without the charm anyway and under normal circumstances if she had given him an opening, or showed any signs of even the possibility of liking him, he’d have jumped at it. That probably added to the weight of the effect of the charm on Kieran anyway, so it definatly made the rejection more real to him. “What makes me so repulsive to you?” His voice was quiet. His ego had taken a serious bashing and even tomorrow, he probably wouldn’t be able to overcome the embarrassment of this as easily as he had the last time.. At least last time he, a) hadn’t been rejected, and b) hadn’t said as much.

Felicity still didn’t meet his gaze as he spoke, but instead tugged on a few stray hairs, thinking. “Don’t laugh but…I can’t really help it.” She chewed on her lower lip, trying to figure out how to put it. “Doesn’t help I guess with a mother like mine. She doesn’t worry about anything, and it’s not like-” Fay cut off and responded a bit too quickly. “Well, she’s just eccentric I guess.” Not like Dad’s there to straighten her out. Was what she was about to say, but quickly stopped herself. Far as she knew, Bray was the only one that actually knew what happened to him. When the subject came up with other people, she would just shrug and say he wasn’t there anymore.
“I’m surprised, you’re usually an avid partier.” She stuck out her lower lip in a small pout. “And then you couldn’t see my perfect grace. Mum was so proud of my outfit too.” Fay flushed slightly at the memory, but was happy to be diverted by Kieran again. “Aye, I forgot. He tends to be rather anti-social at times I guess.” In all honesty, Felicity was so used to Bray that she thought everyone spoke to the boy daily like her. Apparently not.
“You’re telling me. You didn’t have to imagine it.” She grimaced. That was one of her flaws, that oh-so vivid imagination. Her imagination seemed far too detailed for its own good, and she shuddered at the thought. Well, that’s an artists’ mind for you, always has to be detailed. “Ha ha, very funny.” Fay muttered, rolling her eyes. “You’ll thank me when day when we’re in a near death experience and I’m the only one prepared for it.”
Felicity shrugged lightly. “Christi…er…mum never really got into much detail. She just said that in defense, knee a bloke in the goods and he’ll stop,” She frowned a bit at his expression and let out a sigh. “I am sorry for that though. You didn’t deserve that much pain from a thirteen year old.” Despite herself, she chuckled a bit. “And maybe you should’ve lied to Ollie and told him a beastly chick beat you up, rather than lil ol’ me.” Of course now Ollie would understand, but back then…not so much.
Her brows creased together in her worry as he listed off all the things she hadn’t really considered. “But what if they do?” She muttered in a small voice, glancing down at her hands. Growing up, she had been rather oblivious to the insanity and horror of the world, until her own world was shattered in one brief moment. And then what could happen slowly turned into what eventually will happen. It was a rather depressing thought for an eleven year old to cook up, but true none the less.
Felicity had only ‘slipped up’ and charmed someone a handful of times in her sixteen years, and she wasn’t exactly proud of the record, but it was better than her mother’s. Each time it happened, and the poor boy would apologize later, she grew more and more angry at herself for letting it happen. Each time she convinced herself that what they were saying wasn’t actually what they thought. How could anyone like her once she had done something like that to them? Maybe that’s why Bray was still her closest friend, because he had never been charmed by her.
Her mother often reassured her that she shouldn’t be ashamed, and how could anyone not like her? Fay was well aware that she was more…attractive in a sense than most girls her age, but that didn’t mean she was any better than any of them. Each time someone complimented her, she assumed it was based on her looks, and instead of effectively controlling her anger, would often lash out at the poor boy that thought he was doing her a favor.
“Just…don’t.” She whispered. Fay couldn’t miss that hurt expression that crossed his face as she pushed him away. She quickly looked away, back down at the ground. Just like you can’t help being beautiful. Inevitable, she couldn’t escape her fate. “Don’t say that. I’m not.” She glared at the ground as she spoke, hating the way she secretly relished the compliment. “Thousands of other girls are better than I am. I’m nothing brilliant or special.”
His voice only seemed to sound more hurt as he spoke, as if she had slapped him. “You don’t have to do that. There’s a thousands things you can do instead of wasting your time with me.” She said, a little louder than normal. He doesn’t know what he’s saying. He doesn’t mean it.
And then, Kieran took on a totally defeated look. He slumped and refused to meet her gaze. Her heart broke just looking at him. It was all her fault she was like this. She hurt him…again. “It’s not that! You’re not repulsive.” Felicity shifted so she could scoot closer to him, but still kept some distance. “It’s not your fault. It’s all my fault alright? I’m the repulsive, crazy one. Just…try to forget about me all right?” He wouldn’t have to remember this then, or worry about it later. He wouldn’t go back and apologize for the things he said, and hurt her even more than when he said them. “…This isn’t real anyway.” She muttered, so softly she could only hope he didn’t hear.
The agony of it all was the fact that she always held some sort of hope. That maybe they meant what they said while under the charm, and perhaps she wasn’t as repulsive as she feared she was. But then the men would come back and apologize for the things they said, and shoot her down without even knowing it. This was no different, and no less painful.

“I know what those kinds of mothers can be like…” He mumbled, Kieran didn’t know what happened to Fay’s dad, he never asked. Respecting her privacy or something, but he knew how sometimes mothers could be irresponsible. His was. She never was around, always swanning off doing something that ‘didn’t concern Kieran’ and usually, his dad was just as bad. Spending too much time on the other side of the world. Leaving Kieran where? With the LaRoque’s of course. Kieran didn’t mind, he’d rather be at Ollie’s with his Ollie, Lucas and their muggle mates than be at home with his ‘muggles are evil’ parents.
“There’s a difference between partying down in Club Motion and being stuck in a ballroom with fruit punch.” He stated, there was. You couldn’t have a proper party without alcohol, nonsensical rambling and some rather funny impressions of various teachers and/or animals. “Your outfit? Don’t tell me, lowcut and feathery?” He laughed, he knew Christi was always trying to get Fay into either the most ridiculous, or most skimpy outfits she could. “I guess he does… Wouldn’t really know.” Though saying that, he was sure people spoke to the people he knew everyday, yet he didn’t think Fay would speak to Rieko, Bryn or Lucas that often.. But he could be wrong.
“That’s because I don’t look at the nasties.” Kieran didn’t see the point in looking on the down side of things. Things would happen if they were going to, he wasn’t going to worry until something bad happened. “Yeah, I probably will. Though I’ll be the one saving your arse.” They were back to the jewel crunching. “And she was right, but I’m sure she meant if a guy was trying to force himself on you, not if he just slapped your arse in passing.” Kieran laughed, “Fay, he was there, he saw it.”
Kieran rolled his eyes, Felicity Locke, the Ravenclaw Veela, and Prefect. Also a pessimist. “If the bad things happen, I’ll be here with you and we’ll face them together. Alright?” If something bad happened, he wasn’t going to leave her to deal with it alone, he had a soft spot for her which would make him jump as soon as she said jump. He’d probably do anything she asked of him, but this probably seemed like being nothing more than just a good friend to her. Still, Kieran supposed he should be grateful they were friends, afterall, he had mucked up with her on more than one occasion.
And he had been one of those handful that she had charmed, she first charmed him about a year ago. He knew Fay didn’t like doing it, but countless times he had tried to tell her she couldn’t help it and it wasn’t her fault, yet each time she never listened and continued blaming herself. How is it her fault exactly? That she was born a veela, is really gorgeous and tends to lose control of her charm sometimes? Kieran would argue until he was blue in the face if he had to, but he knew there was no point, she would never listen anyway.
Fay was more beautiful than most girls in the school, even Kieran’s head turned every time she walked by and sometimes even he, though a good friend of hers, often found himself at a loss of what to say, scared in case he made himself out to be a complete idiot. Fay never held herself above anyone else, she always treated everyone as an equal and this was what Kieran found most beautiful about her. She was a good looker, sure, but her heart was pure gold. Most of the time anyway.
“…” Kieran was silent, not looking at her, he couldn’t help saying what he said. The charm was making him say the things he would never have the guts to tell her in reality. It, to him, was like being drunk. Apart from flirting with strangers and possibly making out with them, Kieran lacked the ability within himself to actually tell a girl he really liked, that he liked her, unless intoxicated. Kieran had once told Fay he liked her, but he was intoxicated then and under the charm too. “You are.” He disagreed. She was beautiful, how could she not see it? It often infuriated him how little confidence she seemed to have in herself, as long as one person thought you were beautiful in the world, you were beautiful. Even if, to the rest of the world you were ugly, if you could find the one person who thought you were beautiful, and special, then you would always be beautiful and special. “You’re brilliant and special to me, Fay. Doesn’t that at least count for something?”
He gave a snort, there were a thousand things he could be doing, but he enjoyed wasting time with Fay. He couldn’t think of anyone better to waste his time with. “Spending time with you, being with you in general… Is never a waste of my time… If I have to do something to prove it to you, then I will, and if you eventually believe it and actually realise there is someone in this school who likes you for you and not just your looks then yeah. It would have been worth every bleedin’ second. Even if you don’t like me. It still would have been worth it.”
He gave up. What was the point? She was adamant on not believing him, looking down at the ice, looking anywhere but the girl in front of him, he locked his jaw and tried to think of something, anything else. Too bad his thoughts wouldn’t move from Fay, and what he could do to prove it to her. “Yeah.. Sure.” How could he believe that when she had flat out rejected him? It wasn’t possible. “Fay, its always your fault according to you. Its never your fault. You cant help it if someone likes you can you? Your not crazy, and you’re definatly not repulsive.” Kieran shook his head. “Im not going to forget about you. I wont.” He didn’t care if he woke up tomorrow, feeling foolish and quite ashamed of himself, he wasn’t sorry. He wasn’t sorry last time, but he had said he was in fear of ruining friendships. He wouldn’t make that mistake again.
If Fay could tell, if she could actually see, feel and hear the sincerity in his words, though as hurt as they may sound, she would see that she wasn’t repulsive and that Kieran did infact like her. Though she was determined not to, so it was unlikely she would see it. It really was too bad, if she could see it, Kieran wouldn’t have to pretend anymore.
