When the other boy seemed to become nervous Marcus wondered if it was something he had done but when he started rambling on about the toad in his hand, Marcus could guess what the trouble was. He turned his body slightly so that he was still facing the two but so that Sherlock the toad was slightly less visible. He had just met the kid and didn't want to have to tell his sister that he had already scared someone.
When Sam shook his hand, Marcus tried to squeeze as tightly as he could but his hand wouldn't do what he wanted it to do. Luckily for him the hand shake quick and Sam was more preoccupied with Sherlock the toad then him. 'Pleasure to meet you too, Sam,' Marcus said, pushing his glasses back up his nose, 'I ... er, think.' As Sam spoke Marcus had to really concentrate to understand what he was saying but he caught it in the end.
'I think we should wait,' Marcus said, looking around the now emptying platform. 'I'm sure that there aren't many others that we'll be waiting for and we'll soon be heading off.' As he spoke his words became more and more wistful and hopeful. He had heard much about the castle from his uncle and sister but to see it for the first time for himself. It was going to be a night to remember.

Amara had had a wonderful train ride, as always, and had caught up with all her friends. The journey was always fun but throughout she had thought ... only once or twice admittedly, about her brother and how he was getting along. She hadn't done anything about the nagging in the back of her head because he had to find his own way. Tough love. But when she finally got off the train, three of her friends behind her, she spotted Marcus standing with his toad and two other little kids.
'Hey guys,' she said, spinning around and looking at the three, 'I'm just going to say hi to my brother quickly. Give me two.' They nodded and moved on. Mara knew that and where they would wait for her so she quickly jumped off the train and ran to her brother. She put a hand on his head and ruffled his hair because she knew how much he disliked that.
'Hiya squirt,' she said happily as she felt him squirm under her hand. 'Had a good train ride then?' she asked. This was Mara's way of being nice to Marcus, she wasn't usually as civil as this. Smiling at the boy and girl he was standing with, she smiled at herself. 'Made friends already?' she said, teasing always, 'I'm surprised you managed to even say anything what with holding onto that toad taking up your whole brain cell time.' She stuck her tongue out at the short little boy who her parents insisted was her brother before adding. 'Aren't you going to introduce me then?'
