Ah, such a fine day to be out and about for any student. The weather was wonderful with it's torrential down pours and lightning accompanied by thunder and the sky was shining a radiant dark grey at the hour of 3pm. Nothing better!
Jason decided to take this excellent day off and visit the library, a place where he loved very much. A place where he had spent enough time to read all the books it had to offer, that is, unless it was in the restricted section. And that, was todays mission. With a vision in his dreams, the Slytherin knew that the library would be empty, if not closed. The librarian really did a poor job on keeping up with such a wonderful place. No matter, that wasn't his problem.
Upon reaching his final destination, he smiled in knowing that his vision was true, like they always were in the end. The room was dark and filled with large, almost foreboding shadows casted from the many shelves, tables and chairs. Jason sauntered through the shadows and the occasional lighted path by lightning.
The boy knew that no one was in the library from his vision, but even double checked the premises before coming in. Upon reaching the rope that tied off his sought after object, he merely removed it with a single motion. It was, after all, only rope.
Slowly he walked up and down the isles of seemingly useless books before coming upon the treasured one. The boy grabbed it off of the shelf gingerly before opening it up and saying the name aloud. "Secrets of the Darkest Art. Let's see if it really holds anything of interest.."
Starting from the beginning of the leather bound book, Jason quickly became engulfed in the book, eventually ignoring, or seemingly that is, any of the other noises around him. He got what he needed, so any disturbance wouldn't hold him back or get in his way now.

It was expected; really it was! But Holly Elms still spluttered uselessly in surprise upon realization that she had fallen fast asleep in the library. Nestled in a corner, using her Transfiguration textbook as a pillow, Elms awoke to find herself completely camoflauged in the strange darkness of the room. Unable to decipher exactly what time it was, and groaning to herself about not completing her already overdue essay, Holly picked herself up off the floor and went to search for some light.
And then she spotted some. It was a small patch of light, eerily displaying a lone figure looming over some sort of tome. Holly wrinkled her nose in wonderment, carrying her textbook in a loose grip under her arm. Reading? In this atmosphere?...Must be quite the book.. Creeping up behind him, Holly tried to catch sight of the title... but ultimately failed.
Speaking in a whisper, Holly sat in the chair next to his and watched the boy with a wide, curious gaze. "That book looks quite ancient. I wonder why Hogwarts never thinks to buy the reprinted versions of things." She smiled brightly at her own odd remark, tilting her head inquiringly.

He didn't count on anyone being in the library, but it was so dark that he half expected to miss someone. Hearing the faint footsteps of someone didn't jar him out of his reading spell, but only came to his attention once he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end from her being so near to him.
After a few moments, the person had taken a seat at the nearest table before speaking to gain his attention.
"That book looks quite ancient. I wonder why Hogwarts never thinks to buy the reprinted versions of things."
At the girls inquiry he smiled and turned to answer her. "Because this is the only copy. Dumbledore had it thrown from the castle back in his time, and after that Hermione brought it back. From there it was hidden away in this castle because it's such a powerful book. Every other wizard had feared it, and destroyed every print but this one."
Jason turned around fully once a streak of lightening lit the room and decided to take a seat across from the girl. He was going to be here for a while.

The dank air wafted around Professor Kridik as he walked as quietly as possible through the halls of the castle. It was late, yes, but that didn't stop Errol from having a desire to go to the library. His robes flailed behind him as he sped through the corridor, going toward the library. He grinned slightly as he pointed his wand at the lock on the library, unlocking the door. A click resonated through the still air as the door opened slowly.
Errol swung the door open quickly, hoping not to make much noise. He was by all means allowed to be anywhere he wanted in the castle, but he preferred to keep quiet so as not to draw anyone out to disturb him. He had woken up in the middle of the night, thinking of a book that he wanted to find. Being obsessive, he had immediately left to retrieve the book, Black Runic Theory in Ancient Britannica. He had found an interesting fact in one of his other books that suggested ancient Britons had used dark magic to protect themselves from dark magic. If any book had that information, it would be this one. since it dealt with dark magic, it would of course be in the restricted section.
Errol almost floated into the library, judging from the silence. He stopped at a table near one of the windows and took his robe off, hanging it on the chair at the table. Silence was broken as Professor Kridik neared the Restricted Sections of the library; whispering filtered through the air. Errol smiled to himself, stopping so as not to alert anyone of his presence. The whispering continued; Errol knew exactly what was going on. He had perpetrated the action himself many times when he was at Hogwarts. He caught himself and stopped smiling, walking closer to the source of the whispering.
Professor Kridik finally got only three metres from the Restricted Section and lit his wand, pointing it into the area directly in front of him to find two students out of bed. He walked closer, "well, I have certainly found something interesting. You know, when I was a student here, I didn't get caught breaking the rules. You're not in much luck tonight. What are reading there? You seem pretty interested in it." Errol was still smiling inside, to himself. It reminded him of himself 23 years earlier.

Jason couldn't say he was surprised or startled from the mans entrance, but almost grateful. "Ah, Professor. I almost forgot you were coming. Thank you for the light." He said with a faint smile before returning his attention to the ancient scripture. For a moment his eyes licked over the pieces of information, just as his hand brushed over the soft pages.
"Secrets of the Darkest Arts. I'm sure you have heard of it?" He then questioned, lifting his gaze to the older mans. It's not like he was going to use it to harm anyone, simply gain the knowledge that it had to offer, for use in future dates. He always did love reading, and any book that had gone unread by him in the library was soon to be changed.
The Slytherin then closed the leather bound book and turned his full attention to Professor Kridik. "You're new here, eh, Professor? Kridik was it? Sounds Icelandic if I'm not mistaken." Jason asked in a series of questions. He always was one to be knowledgable and quite interested in heritage.

Professor Kridik was taken aback by the young man's behaviour. He acted as if he knew Errol would be there. There was a certain air of arrogance about the Slytherin student. Perhaps it was the feeling that he could get away with anything? Errol couldn't quite pin it out. the young man asked if Errol had ever heard of the book in his hands. He knew the book very well. He had memorised the tome when he was at Hogwarts. Remaining silent, Errol looked on as the young man gave his full attention to the professor.
In reply to his questions of his ethnicity, Errol answered him clearly. "Quite the memory you have. Yes, I'm Professor Kridik, from Iceland. Reykjavik to be exact," Errol said, "as for that book, I know what it is. Surprising that it's still kept here. It's really an invitation to come in and read it, yes? Have you filled yourself with the knowledge of dark magic? Know how to make horcruxes and other such pieces of carnal magic?" Errol was challenging the young man to answer the questions truthfully. He would know how much of the book the young man had read soon enough. He knew it was dangerous knowledge, but he was glad someone had taken it upon themselves to learn about the tabooed magic.

The boy smiled at Errol, honestly not meaning to come off as arrogant, but unfortunately for him, that's how he always seemed to come off. Besides, it's not his fault he was born a seer, was it? The best he could do for himself was accept the visions instead of pushing them away like an imbecile.
Jason had to laugh softly at his words. "My memory? Not so much. I only know from reading your profile in Hubbles' office." He didn't know whether the Professor would get weirded out by his answer or not, but the Slytherin enjoyed knowing who the new teachers were and their background history.
"And as for Reykjavik, it's absolutely beautiful there." He nodded with a faint smile. "Went there once while I was in Durmstrang."
A smile made it's way onto Jason's lips when he heard what rest the Professor had to say; especially with Dark Magic. "An invitation that one would be foolish to ignore."
The boy took this time to think about the next couple of questions that Errol had fired upon him, though he never lost that smile of his. It wasn't arrogant or ignorant, no, it was more of a knowing smile. "Filled myself.. I have made my life out of it, Sir. I do know how to make such horrible and unnatural acts of Dark Magic, though if you're implying if I'd use them, never. Immortality is only for the weak and incompetent." He really could go on and on about what his thoughts were on Horcruxes, Voldemort, Herpo the Foul or anything of the life; but decided to save the Professor from boring rambling.
Jason waved his arm to a chair at the table where he was situated, inviting the Professor to sit down. "Take a seat and get comfortable. Something tells me we'll be here for a while."

The young man was certainly assertive; inviting Errol to sit at the library table. At least the boy was not rude; he tacked the word ‘sir’ onto the end of his sentences in a respectful manner. Errol decided he would humour the boy and sit down across from him at the table. Doing this, he began conversation. “The magic in that book isn’t all about immortality. Immortality is easy magic; it simply done. You kill someone and use their life to preserve yourself; it is a simple-minded magic. However, there is other, more sophisticated magic in that book,” he said.
The air was heavy; Errol could feel it as he took a deep breath of it. The boy sitting across from Errol was definitely a 7th year student. He was handsome, no doubt. There was something about him that Errol simply could not figure out. He looked directly at the boy, “So, why didn’t you just ask for a pass from one of the professors to get that book?” Professor Kridik asked. He knew the answer already; his motto during school had been ‘getting forgiveness is easier than getting permission.’ Obviously, this boy acted by the same motto.

The boy smiled when the Professor sat down and started a conversation. The more Jason heard the man talk and join himself in on his midnight journey to the library, the more he began to like him. Who knows, he might actually join in his lesson and hear what he had to say.
As the man finished, Jason nodded. "I agree with you. I'm not looking to make horcruxes or the like. Honestly, they bore me. Petty things to be involved with. The reason why I'm reading it is because of the more sophisticated magic, Professor."
The slytherin boy couldn't help but laugh softly and smile at Errol's next words. "In all honesty, Sir. I dislike almost every adult, Professor and student for that matter. Why ask permission when I can walk in just as easily? There is no librarian to keep this place up or ask for the signed permission sheets."
Jason shrugged but smiled at the same time before leaning in and lowering his tone to a whisper. "But you. You're different, Professor Kridik. We share a common interest; an interest in the dark arts. And just for you having a brilliant mind makes me respect you." He admitted before returning to his previous position.

As Errol had expected, the boy had no respect for people that were ‘less’ than him. Errol was almost stunned by the boy’s next action. He complimented Errol for his mind. Then, it struck him; this boy had some sort of power to see things. He had known Errol was going to be in the library. He had known Errol’s name, ethnicity, and now he could see complexity. Errol had stumbled upon a seer. He laughed quietly at his density. “You’re a seer,” he said, “what is your name? There is no need for me to introduce myself, however I do not know who you are.”
After Errol had figured out the boy’s being a seer, he still had one more thought; he had found a genius. He was ahead of his time in maturity and thought. He was interested in knowledge for the sake of knowing; an admirable desire if there ever was one. Errol could see already he had found a special person. “You know about emotional and psychological effects on magic, I’m sure. You think you would be able to use the magic in that book without having a specific target for the magic?” Errol was gauging the boy’s magical ability. He was sure the boy would answer truthfully; you don’t need a target for dark magic, but you do need emotion and thought.
Errol leaned back in his chair smiling slightly; the last thing he had expected was running into another person with an understanding of dark magic. Errol knew far more about dark magic than he was letting on, however he was sure this boy would be able to tell how much he knew; perhaps not what he knew, but how he knew.

Jason simply nodded as the Professor called his ability out, not wanting to really 'show it off'. He was more humble and modest about his ability as a seer and didn't particularly like going around and showing it off. "My name is Jason Walker." The boy replied with a faint smile.
"And yes, Professor, I do know about the emotional and psychological effects that go hand in hand with the dark arts." He answered, then folding his hands together atop of the leather bound book. what the man said next was a bit of a shock, yet a challenging question none the less.
"I am capable, yes. Only a handful of times have I tried without a specific target, all with minimal and less than pleasing results. Don't get me wrong, they worked, but the results, like I said, were minimal. I'm sure I could do better when I grasp the concept of what this book has to offer and when I find a suitable place to practice." He admitted, a small frown then showing on his facade. If Jason hated anything, which he did, it was not fully performing to his potential. Perhaps he was physically sick at the time or ill prepared, either way, the results weren't satisfying. The Slytherin simply chalked it up to illness.
With a motion of an open hand, Jason vaguely pointed to the man across from him. "How about you, Professor?" He asked, genuinely curious. Now, he wasn't doubting the older mans capabilities, but just what exactly he had in mind for the future conversation. With knowledge of the banned book alone, Jason was positive that Errol was hiding his true intelligence on such a thing, along with all of those subtle, yet well placed and thought out jabs of questions.
"And don't try to tell me a lie, Sir. Not that I doubt you would, but just in case. You know I'd catch it as soon as it left your lips." The Slytherin teased with a faint laugh, trying to lighten the mood.

The questions Jason was asking were as pointed as Errol’s had been before. He gave a small smile as Jason threw the questions out and warned him of lying. Speaking quietly and clearly, Errol continued the conversation; “I have no doubt in my mind you know who is lying and who isn’t.” Leaning back, Errol thought of history in dark magic. Beginning, he thought aloud; “Well, I’ve spent twenty years of my life travelling the world studying runic magic. I am mad about runes; not just because they are interesting in themselves, but because runes were the first embodiment of magic by humans. During the time of runes, there were only two kinds of magic; dark and light. Runes are inherently one or the other. I often found that Nordic runes were dark. To understand that magic, I practised dark magic myself. Over time, I got better. You could say I have mastered much dark magic and since I never had any thing to practise on, I had to learn dark magic without having an objective view of it. I am well practised at the moment since I’ve only just ended my travels. However, Hogwarts is not a place to use dark magic lightly.”
Errol hoped he had given the kind of answer the boy was looking for. Getting information meant he would have to reciprocate, and he was willing to do that. This boy’s respect was worth it. Errol found himself wanting the boy’s approval for some reason. Perhaps it was the elitism? Or, something completely different? Errol was again caught in his own mind. He looked at his pocket-watch to find that it was quite late. Curiosity got the better of Errol, “How long have you been here?” he asked.

As Errol continued talking and sharing various tid-bits of information, Jason sat there listening with a sharp ear. He shifted about half way through the mans reply, finding it much more comfortable to rest his chin in his palm, rather than leaning back.
He continued to listen and nodded as he did so, retaining every bit of information that was said. After all was said and done, Jason smiled. "I see," He replied. "That's very interesting, Sir. I ad thought of doing such things, but never really studied runes in depth. I know of them, and how to use them, and in fact, have. But only once, only on something necessary." The boy finished, not bothering to tell the rest of it.
"Also, this topic, it reminds me of another student here... a Ravenclaw.." Jason had to scratch his mind for the information, but it eventually came to him. "Some animagus girl named Polaris something or other. Ah.. I've only spoken briefly to her, but she hails from Norway herself and is connected deeply to runes." He nodded after a moment. "Between speaking with an accent and the actual norwegian language, she's pretty interesting. Odd, but interesting none the less. She has your class, so keep an eye on her if you wish to contact her." The boy finished up before shaking his head."But this isn't about other students, now is it, Professor?"
At the mans question, Jason looked out the window to judge to position of the moon, since he did not have a watch of his own. "And I'd say, no more than two hours or so."

As it was, Errol was enjoying his conversation with Jason; to the point that he wanted Jason in his class more than ever. Knowing Jas probably already had an idea of what Errol was thinking now, he remain as tactful as ever. "You're absolutely right, Jason. This conversation is not about other students. It's not about students at all, really. This conversation is simply about two intelligent people who have happened upon one another. Perhaps it was planned, but that is not for us to ponder," he said serenely, "I don't know exactly what to make of our meeting here. Perhaps it means we will never speak again. Or, it could mean we would become companions of a sort. I tend not to put so much thought into things of that sort. I do however, put thought into teaching the next generation all there is to know. I would love it if you were to join my class, but that is your decision to me. Now that I've met you, I feel an obligation to allow you knowledge. You'll have my pass for the entire restricted section of this beloved library."
Errol leaned forward, pulled out his wand and a piece of parchment. After setting the parchment on the table in front of m, he tapped the paper and writing appeared across its face. Errol signed the kauno rune at the bottom and pushed the sheet over to Jason. Errol knew Jason didn't care for an adult's permission, but the pass would allow him to take any number of the books out of the restricted section to wherever he pleased. "I know you don't care for anyone's permission, but this pass will allow you t take whatever books you want and take them wherever you want. However, I would ask you leave them at Hogwarts when you leave. There could always be another person like you some day," he said, not grinning or smiling. He was being absolutely serious.

Jason nodded before laughing softly. "I still have one year, Professor. I'm positive I'll see you within that time period." He paused a moment while tapping at his temple with an index finger. "Ancient Runes... Interesting enough. I admit that I haven't brushed up on that subject in quite some time.. over a year and a half now, I believe. But, if you wish me in your class, I trust your judgment enough this time. If you have something to teach, I will listen." The boy admitted, never being one to turn down an offer of learning. Runes could be powerful, after all.
The Slytherin watched as the Professor signed a piece of parchment with magic and picked it up once he was done. While inspecting it a small smile formed upon the boys lips. "Thank you, Sir. I'm sure this will come in handy."
Jason then listened to what else he had to say, noticing the tone in his voice take a change. Not a bad one, simply serious. "Of course I will return these books, you think me daft?" He asked in a playful tone. "Why deprive others of learning such a wonderful art? Though, I'm sure that this book won't be cracked open for another few centuries. No matter, it will contain the same knowledge as before, if not more."
His last line suggested something odd. Perhaps he was going to take the time to rebind the book and add new pages to it? Pages of his own learning and discoveries? Maybe. "Time can only tell, eh?"
