Ashton turned, startled at the voice. "Um... no, I don't think so..." he replied, the man seemed to be a teacher... Ashton hoped he wasn't in too much trouble.

Whatever Victoria had been expecting the boy to say that surely was not it. After he said it she looked at him her eyes boring into his and for the first time in a long time she was trying to read someone, but she stopped herself immediately because she didn't want to invade him that way not when he had been so open and candid with her. Turning her head away she felt a solitary tear slip from her eye down onto her cheek, the pain this young man had to live with everyday, she wasn't expecting anything of the sort when she made him answer. Now she wasn't quite sure what to say to him. As they walked along she could hear things what they were well she wasn't sure but the silence between the two was growing ever stronger. She knew that she was going to have to say something and soon because she asked for this.
Then something happened, as she began to open her mouth still not sure what she was going to say to him Dan came out of no where, Victoria gasped wondering what he was doing there and wishing that she looked OK. She cringed inwardly at her last thought but she couldn't help it she just got that way when Dan was around but he wasn't out there for her no he had been looking for a wand.
Finally, Victoria found her voice 'No we that is to say I haven't seen anything like a wand out here,' it was true since this was actually once of the first times Vicky how been out here since arriving back at Hogwarts. 'When did you happen to lose it?'

Ashton rubbed the back of his head, it was a habit he had developed when he was embarassed or shy, right now he was shy "Um... we could help you look for it if you want...?" he offered to the teacher his voice trailing off at the end, not sure if he should continue speaking or just keep his trap shut and head back to the castle. he bit his lip nervously as his eyes darted around, at least getting back to the castle meant that he wouldn't have to talk about his father.... How can you overcome your fear of him, if you don't talk about what he did to you? a voice inside his head asked gently. Ashton sighed, the voice, otherwise known as his concsiense was right. He'd never get over his fear of his father if he didn't talk about it, and let people give him the help he needed.

Dan could not help but smile as Victoria looked at him and asked him about when eh lost the wand. This was going to be difficult how to answer, he would need to pick his words carefully. With a few moments of contemplation Dan had eventually worked out how he was going to do it. Waling over to stand in front of Victoria he gave Aston a small smile as he passed.
“Well it is my sisters wand. She was in the forest last night and misplaced it. I have found her other belongings but not her wand.” Dan signalled to the school bag that was over his shoulder. “The only problem with wands are that they are made out of wood, and well you are not assort of wood in a forest. Shame really this will be her fifth wand this year.”
Dan had not meant to say that last part, but he guessed that Victoria would not ask to many questions about how his sister had come to lose so many wands. With another cheeky smile at Victoria Dan turned his attention back to the forest floor and walked don a but more looking at every twig and tree root. It was then when he heard Aston offering his assistance. With a broad grin looked up and placed his hands on his hips.
“Thank you very much Mr McLane that would be fantastic. The only problem is I can not remember if it is a Beech or Ash wand we are looking for. I know the Elder one broke, the Birch fell down the side of a mountain at Easter and her Oak one unfortunately is somewhere in this forest as well. So if we find that one then it is a bonus too!”

Ashton smiled nervously. "Well, I'd be glad to help. Um... what is your sisters name?" He glanced around, he really didn't know what to say and truth be told, he was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable...

Victoria's eyes hadn't left Dan since he started walking toward her. What it was about him he was not sure, when she smiled at her she had to do everything in her power not to flush, even though she really wanted to. She did not want to feel that heat rise up her neck all the way up to her cheeks. It was one of those school girl things that she detested, those things that gave away what you were feeling, and she would have none of that no matter what it took. Taking a few calming breaths now, that mixed with the cool night air made sure an embarrassing moment did not take place.
As he started talking she thought the story of his sister loosing her wand in the forest a bit, well strange but it wasn't her place to contradict him. Glad to have someone else there she made no mention of her thoughts and said, 'Well I wouldn't mind helping you look for it either, the more eyes the better. Do you have any idea where she thinks she may have lost it?'

Dan looked from one to the other feeling rather pleased that they were going to help him out. He was about to give up before he bumped into them, his neck was swore from looking down all the time, he really needed a drink and something to eat. However this seemed to surge him on, determined not to give up on his sister.
“Her name is Girty, she is in the year above you. She is the Hufflepuff champion, so I suppose finding her wand will help a lot.” Dan shrugged his shoulders and thought he best answer Victoria’s question as well. “Well she transformed….I mean….entered the forest over there near that clearing. From there she could have gone any direction.”
Dan cursed under his breath when he made that simple mistake, he already knew that half the castle knew what his sister was anyway but still there was something in that back of his mind telling him that the pride of Hufflepuff was at stake. Trying to shake off this thought Dan shot a weak smile at Victoria, slowly losing confidence he turned around and began hunting once more for the wand.

Ashton nodded. "So... you've already checked the clearing?" he asked softly, hoping he wasn't being rude.

When Dan said, When she transformed' Victoria looked a bit taken aback, now she knew that she wasn't getting the whole story from him. Granted she didn't know anything about him or his sister since she had only just returned back to the school. She longed to ask questions but there must be a reason why he wasn't being completely forthcoming so she opted not to say anything at least in the presence of another student. Although she did intend to try and find out more about this at a later date.
Lighting the tip of her wand she now began to focus on trying to find the wand. She noticed something on the ground and turned her wand light toward it then she noticed that it was a very large spider. She yelped not meaning to, normally she didn't mind spiders but for pity's sake this one was huge. There were rumors about acromantula's but she thought they were just that rumors. Freezing up she stood there while the spider who didn't seem affected by the light kept coming toward her. She wished that either one of the guys she was with would see her and help her, because she could not scream to let them know how terrified she was right then.

Ashton, hearing Victoria yelp turned to see what had startled her. He nearly dropped his wand when he saw the huge spider that was headed towards her. "Oh..my...god!" he managed to choke out as his feet seemed to glue themselves to the forest floor. He hated spiders! Everytime he came across one of the eight-legged beasts, he became petrified with fear. And tonight was no exception...

Dan continued to slowly walk forwards not listening to what the others were saying, he was putting all his effort into searching the forest floor. He moved his wand from side to side letting the beam of light filter across the forest floor. But he spotted nothing that was obvious, no sign of a wand or that his sister had even passed over this section. It was then he realised that he could not hear the sound of the other following him. Straightening up and turning around he saw the tow of them frozen on the spot, seemingly horrified by something they had found on the ground.
Slowly moving closer Dan prepared for the worst, a half eaten creature, some sort of reptile, maybe even a dangerous plant he had over looked. As he drew closer he could not see anything clear until the light form his wand reflected in one of the creatures many eyes. Trying hard not to laugh at the pure terror this spider had caused Dan point his wand at the spider. Gently the spider began to levitate upwards and he guided it away into the distance giving the chance for the poor creature to head back to its nest.
“Problem solved”
Dan gave Victoria a rather wide and toothy grin and patted Ashton on the shoulder. It seemed if they came across anymore spiders it would be up to him to deal with them, all he could hope was that that spider would not go and get the lest of his hairy legged friends.

Ashton breathed a sigh of relief when Professor Hubbles got rid of the spider. "Thanks." he said, finding that he could now move again.

When she saw Dan take his wand and levitate the spider away she almost ran behind him to hide from it, but since she already looked and felt foolish she decided to stay where she was until she could no longer see it. Smiling through her embarrassment she said sweetly, 'Thanks for that spiders are OK but not when they look like they could wrestle me to the ground if they wanted. OK back to searching,' she ended trying to move away before that blush began to appear bold as brass on her cheeks.
Moving a bit away from both gentlemen she began to look once more her wand lit shining on in the dim cold night, that's when it seemed as if she noticed something, what could have been the handle of wand. Moving a few branches back she thought she had found it, 'Hey I think I've got something' she said loudly but not too loudly, the last thing she wanted was to rouse anything else that might be lurking close by.

Dan chuckled as he heard Victoria explain about her fear of spiders. And for a while he was unable to shake away the image of a spider wrestling people to the ground, it would be something very amusing to witness however he guessed not very nice to actually have happen to you. But finally something helped clear this idea from his mind, the call from Victoria that she might have found something.
Stumbling over to where she was Dan almost dived to the ground and started open mouthed at where the light from Victoria’s wand was. There was defiantly something that looked like a wand handle underneath the branches. Trying to stop his hands from shaking Dan reached forward and took hold of the wand pulling it out of the dirt. Cleaning it on his robe Dan studied it closely trying to judge the length and the wood it was made of. Placing his own wand against the other he muttered to himself. ‘Reveal your secrets’ A flash of light appeared from the end of his wand and covered across the other wand, turning it around slowly in his hand he saw what he needed. In bright yellow shinning letters were, ‘G-H III’
“This is one of Girty’s, I think you just found her Oak one Victoria. My father was so paranoid about Girty losing them all the time he had her initials put on the wand.”
With a soft smile he had to reframe himself from leaping up and hugging her in gratitude. Placing the wand gently into his pocket Dan turned to Aston and bowed slightly in his direction. “I will also thank you to Ashton for your assistance. But I will leave you to continue what ever you were doing. Very sorry to intrude, I am off to follow that trial of destruction I only have one of her shoes so it might be up a tree somewhere. So if you here a crack and bang and a yell that will be me falling out of the tree.”
Stepping away from the rest of them he gave one last look over his shoulder, Dan winked at Victoria and accompanied it with a small wave.

Disappointment flooded through her when he said that it was his sister's wand, because she knew that now he would probably leave them again, not that she mined Ashton's company she just liked Dan's a little more. Doing her best not to frown she forced a smile, 'I'm glad that I was able to help you find it, and it was no bother not in the least.let us just hope that your sister looses no more wands in the woods.' Her eyes followed him as he began to walk away and when he turned and winked at her, she almost let out an audible sigh but luckily was able to hold it in.
Turning to the younger student she said, 'It's late if you want to talk we can keep walking but if you would rather go to bed I can walk you back to the castle, and make sure the caretaker doesn't catch you. I leave the choice to you.'
