Deep within the bowels of the forest Jake Gobien waited impatiently for someone, they'd agreed to meet up five minutes ago, it really wasn't like them to be late. Jake had requested the meeting under the guise of needing to discuss important plans, in reality he just wanted to have a good old natter. So using their method of communication, top secret of course; owl, Gobien had sent his message requesting his sweetheart meet him. Now he sat crossed legged upon a pile of leaves, his back resting against the rough bark of the tree he was laid up against. Humming a tune softly between his teeth, he finished and pursed his lips in thought. It really wasn't like them to be late at all, they were usually quite punctual. especially when he called for them.
Pouting a little Gobien twiddled his thumbs as he tuned into the forest sounds reverberating about him, he'd grown so used to them they barely registered now. But the sound of approaching footsteps was plain, a smile brightening his features Gobien stood hand instinctively diving into his pocket in case of emergency.
He hadn't seen them in a long time, a warm embrace would be called for, though a kiss on the cheek might be a little too presumptuous. So he'd go for that too, seizing every moment was what Gobien lived and loved for, those precious fleeting moments, that came around so seldom.
"Nick is that you?" Gobien called making sure his voice wasn't too seductive, "stop playing games man and get out here." He didn't want to be too pushy, they were old friends and he wanted to keep it that way really, but if there was chance for romance then he was more than willing to pounce upon it; literally.

McNiven had got a message from Gobien to met with him in the forest at 21:00 hours on that very same day. However ever since his last meting with Quinn Locksley his right leg had never really been the same so the work through the forest to the meting point took him a little longer then he thought it would. He knew that Jake would be waiting, and most likely worrying about him. Glancing down at his watch McNiven grumbled to himself when he saw he was late and tried to hurry the pace up but as he was in sight of the clearing and he could see Jake trough the trees his legs decided it did not want to work anymore and went limp.
Losing his balance McNiven toppled over sideways letting out a small, uncharacteristic yelp as he went. He tried to take hold of a branch but as he did it snapped in too causing him to fall to the ground, the sound of the branch snapping to echo around the forest and the tree to rustle. This had to be the loudest McNiven had ever been in his life.
“I am going to kill Locksley when I next see her!” McNiven started to swear bloody murder and the birds from the trees above flew out of their nests to get away from the noise. Over his own swearing he heard Jake call out to him again and McNiven once again started to laugh in the presence of Gobien. “I can not my old friend as I seem to be lying in the dirt unable to move my leg. You would not care to help me would you?”

Hearing a very strange, and sudden yelp, Gobien's eyebrows raised in surprise, it was followed quickly by the crystal clear snap of a branch that made the tree it had belonged to rustle too. Whoever that was didn't know the meaning of the word stealth. Hearing the lovely sentiment shouted, by the gruff tones of a Scotsman Gobien shook his head grinning, trust Nick really. He couldn't quite fathom why he'd made such a racket though, until he explained it, then he remembered Nick's injured leg, bringing him all the way out here really had been unfair, he'd have to make it worth his while somehow.
Hurriedly, but still with the utmost care, born from dwelling within the forest for what felt like an age now, Gobien ran to help his friend laughing good naturedly as he saw McNiven in an undignified heap on the sodden ground. "Comfortable sleeping down there isn't it?" Joked Gobien knowing how McNiven felt, he'd suffered many a scrape, luckily they had a proficient medic with them. Gloria had saved his hide more than once, and patched him up very nicely indeed.
"No problem," chuckled Gobien tingling as he gave McNiven his hand and hauled him relatively easily aloft. Seeing he was about to stumble he ducked beneath his shoulder taking his arm around his neck to steady his injured companion. "She really took it out of you didn't she, damned bitch," he hated people injuring those dear to him, especially old friends, and especially McNiven.
"Let's find you somewhere comfortable to rest awhile." Helping McNiven move over to a slightly more comfortable looking niche, between a large boulder bending a tree, he set McNiven down it what resembled a bed of leaves, crouching beside him. "Has it seized up completely?" He asked gesturing towards McNiven's muscled leg. "I could give it a massage if you'd like? Gloria's done it for me hundreds of times, really gets rid of the knots in your back, dead relaxing." Gobien smirked, he wasn't even trying to be flirtatious, it just flowed right on out. Kneeling by McNiven's injured knee he gently began probing it while he said, "you know I'm sure we could find a better place to meet up, maybe go for a drink sometime?" Eyes focused upon the massaging he didn't blush as he looked up at McNiven, a small smile playing across his lips.

As Gobien strutted over towards him McNiven could only look up fro the ground and grin as his old friend as he asked if it was comfortable. The Scots man did not know what to say in response as he had slept in many uncomfortable positions and places before and this was not surprisingly as painful as it may look. However thankfully he took the helpful hand of Gobien and with little effort Nicholas was on his feet again and was slowly being guided over to a small outcrop where he could sit down and rest his tired leg.
Gingerly he lowered himself down and removed his arm from around Gobien’s neck looking back at his leg grimacing in pain mixed in with a laugh as Jake joked along about Quinn being a nasty piece of work. But before McNiven could even respond Gobien was massaging his leg. Had it been any other man or even woman McNiven would have shaken them off and with his free leg and kick them where it hurts, but instead McNiven nodded his head in thanks and let the other man carry on.
“You should have killed that hag when you had the chance Jake. But then I believe you two were intermit once upon a time so maybe you do have feelings for her?” McNiven winced as Gobien hit a painful part of the leg where the bruising was still fresh. “But then she is a cold hearted sod so maybe you to would go well together, but you seem to have improved over the years, the forest must have made you soft.”
McNiven was trying to overlook the question about going for a drink, ever since the last incident in the village he did not plan on leaving HQ as often, the head of the league did not sound to amused by it all and made a small suggestion that he did not do it again and McNiven did follow orders from time to time.
