Felicity tucked her wand behind her ear and stepped outside. There weren't many kids around, but maybe that was because the sun was setting and it was starting to get dark. Fay walked up to one of the hills overlooking the forest. She tilted her head back and looked up at the sky for a moment.
After a while, Fay sat down and shuffled through her bag. She drew out her sketchpad and flipped open to the marked page. There on the page was a picture of her and her dad. Felicity was clutching her dad's hand, and she looked about four. Her mom was the one taking the picture, so she wasn't shown. Fay's dad was laughing at the camera, probably because Felicity had that pouty look on her face.
Tears dripped down her face and landed on the page. Her shoulders shook with her silent sobs. All of the other students had fled the scene, so they couldn't see her breakdown. "You weren't supposed to leave. You were supposed to see me go to Hogwarts. And stay there to help me." Fay clutched the book to her and glared out to the forest.
"It's not fair."

Ash sighed as he stared out across the massive expanse of lawn. Taking out his sketchbook, he flipped to a clean page, he had started to draw a picture of his snowy owl, Aphrodite when he heard crying. Looking around, he saw who it was. Felicity. With a frown, Ash closed his sketchbook, and walked over to her. "Lissie?" he asked as he sat down and placed a hand on her shoulder, "What's wrong?"

Felicity and placed her head back on her knees, not daring to look up again. Someone came over and layed a hand on her shoulder, and she tensed out of instinct. Fay looked up to see it was Ash sitting next to her. She ran her hand quickly across her eyes, wiping away the tears.
"It's nothing. I'll be fine, really." She forced a smile then quickly looked back down to her lap, where the picture was. Her eyes tightened and she set her sketchbook to one side, so she couldn't look at it anymore. Ash didn't need to be dragged into this mess, he had his own issues. She didn't want to dump anything on everyone else.

Ash frowned, and took Lissie's hand into his. "No, you're not okay." he said, "And don't give me that stuff about I have my own problems, I'll be fine. Right now, you're the one that needs help. Now what's wrong?"

Felicity smiled sadly and glanced over to Ash. "Don't miss anything do you?" Fay took the picture out of her sketchbook and handed it to Ash. "See this? It's me when I was about four or five. And there's my dad." She pointed to his smiling face in the picture, but then quickly looked away.
"Today's the anniversary-" She stopped herself and let her hair fall back in front of her face and she dipped her head down. "Of the day he died. I can't stop reliving it." Felicity shook her head and fought another round of tears.

Ash laughed slightly, "Nope." he agred, "So don't even try to fool me cause you won't." He looked at the picture, "He looks really nice. He looks alot like you." He handed it back to her. "Well, you know what I think? I think your dad would want you to be happy, he doesn't want you to be sad, he wants you to be happy for him that he's in a better place now. He wants you to remember all the good times you had together, he doesn't want you to think about the fact that he's not with you anymore." He smiled, "I'm sure he wants you to be having some fun right now." he laughed, "If it makes you feel any better, I met your mum in Hogsmeade yesterday. She was all like Tell my darling little Felicity I say hello, and I was like Yeah, I'll yell her alright, I'll also ask for her permission to hex you so hard, it'll make your ancestors dizzy, and I'm sure she'd gladly agree. I didn't actually say it to her face of course, but still."

Felicity was silent as Ash spoke. She waited a few more moments before responding. "Sounds like something he would say." Fay looked back out to the forest. "But I don't think you really understand Ash."
She looked back over to him, then back out to the forest. "He used to work at one of the healing centers, so he didn't die of any natural cause." Felicity's gaze hardened as she looked out to the forest. "He died right there before me, and no one even moved to help him. All I could do was sit there and scream." She glanced back at Ash, her gaze softening as if she was trying to apologize to him for probably freaking him out and dragging him into this mess.
Felicity laughed slightly at his comment about her mother. "I'm sorry about that. She tends to get eccentric at times. Thinks everyone in the world just loves her. But it's really just a cover up. Don't worry about her, she's harmless really."

Ash smiled, "Sounds like your dad was a pretty wise man." He laughed, "Yeah, your mom can be a bit... out there." He gave a mock shudder, and whispered in a horrified voice, "She tried to flirt with me." He threw his arms around Felicity, "Lissie save me from the clutches of your mother!" he cried dramatically.

Felicity laughed again as Ash clung to her. "Oh poor dear Ashy. Don't worry, I'll fend off the demon for you." She drew her wand from behind her ear and pointed up to the sky, like she was holding a sword.
Fay burst into another round of giggles and had to wipe her eyes again from the tears they caused. "God Ash, you really know how to lift a mood." She hugged him and grinned. "Thanks for listening to me rant and rave. I didn't scare you now did I?"
"So if I'm trying to remember the happy things of my father, wanna hear a funny story?" Felicity's famous grin flashed across her face. "I found it rather hilarious myself."

Ash laughed, "Liss, you are looking at the King of hissy-fits. So no you did not scare me!" He smiled again, "I'd love to hear it."

"Alright, so my dad came home late one day right? And I stayed up to see him because I couldn't go to sleep not knowing if he was home or not. Well, he walked in the door all grumpy and stuff because he had to work late, and I ran to go hug him." Felicity started to blush slightly as she continued. "Well, I gained a little too much moment and ended up knocking him down and he slammed into the door. Well, we knocked the door off of its hinges and my mom freaked and ran out." Fay giggled and continued. "Her hair was sticking up and stuff and she just threw on a big T-shirt. So my dad and I were sitting in the yard, laughing because we were sitting on the door."
Felicity stretched her arms out. "Well, the neighbors thought someone had come to rob us or something and ran out carrying their wands and stuff. One thought my mom was trying to kill us so she started screaming and waving her arms at us." Fay grinned wider as she remembered. "And her husband came out and just stared at us all. Finally he walked over, helped me and my dad up, and helped us put the door back. His wife had fainted by then. So he had to float her back into the house." Fay leaned back and rested her head down on the ground. "Next morning she thought it was all just a terrible dream and we were surprised by finding that we put our door on backward."

Ash just stared at Lissie for a moment after she had finished the story, then he burst out laughing. "Oh wow, now that definitely tops the list of hilarious stories!" he said wiping tears from his eyes.

Felicity grinned. "Yea, and we broke the door several times after that. Once my dad and I were trying to show my mom what a B and E was, so we had to demonstrate." She laughed and shook her head. "Kicked the door down and my mom just screamed."
Fay glanced back over to Ash. "You know, my mom didn't always used to be like she is now. She used to fret over me and my dad, always worrying if we were going to get hurt or something. She never really cared about herself before." She placed her hands behind her head. "But, I guess after my dad died, it was just such a shock that she had to cover up how she really felt. So she made herself like that."

Ash smiled and hugged Lissie, "Have you tried talking to her? Maybe she doesn't realize how the way she acts makes you feel."

Felicity nodded. "More than once. But she just says that this is a new age, and that means change. I've just learned to live with her I guess, not like I like the new Christi Locke though."
A slight grin came back to her. "But, at least she kept my dad's last name. Locke. I think she still hasn't gotten over him, so she pretends to be someone she's not."
