Erika stood at the edge of the lake, the sunlight sparkled off the water, making it glitter like diamonds. Honey-gold eyes, flickered over the water, raven hair, tumbled down to her waist, contrasting with porcelain skin. Blood-red lips parted slightly, the wind sent a chill through the air, and whipped her hair around her face. The inhumanly beautiful girl raised her head to the heavens above. "Can anyone her me? My heart is screaming in silence, I cry out in my dreams, for somene to save me. I'm crying out, can anyone here me?" she whispered to herself. Lowering her head, the raven haired beauty sank to her knees.
Lithium, don't want to lock me up inside. Lithium, don't want to forget how it feels without... Lithium, I want to stay in love with my sorrow. Oh, but God, I want to let it go.
A hauntingly beautiful voice rang out over the grounds, as the young vampire, sang of her pain, and sorrow.

As Maria walked along the lakeshore, she heard a beautiful voice singing. Looking around she saw a girl standing on the edge of the lake not far from her. She could her the sadness in the voice and wasn't very good with emotions, but she was curious and walked over to where the girl was.
When she was close enough to get a good view of the girl, Maria saw that it was that seventh year Gryffindor, the vampire. Getting closer Maria called to her, "You okay, vamp-girl," she asked in a concerned voice. "You sound depressed." Maria realized shortly after she said it that calling her vamp-girl was very insensitive, but she wasn't one who often thought of other's feelings before she spoke. Besides, she hadn't meant anything bad by it, she just couldn't remember the girl's name. Oh well, nothing she could do now.

Erika looked up, normally she would've flown into a rage at being called vamp-girl, but tonight she didn't really care. "Not really." she answered the Hufflepuff, smiling sadly. "And I do have a name other than 'vamp-girl' it's Erika."

Maria stopped walking when she got a few feet from the girl. She could see the sadness in the smile. The fact that Ericka hadn't gotten angry at being called 'vamp-girl' proved that something was wrong. From the times when Maria had been in class with this girl, she had learned that she had a pretty nasty temper.
"Ahh, so that's your name. Sorry, I forgot," she said with a shrug. "And you're lying to me. Something's wrong, but you know what, I don't care, so I won't bother you to tell me," Maria said looking out at the lake. She was never one to interfere in other people's business when they didn't want her to. She just didn't care enough for that.

Rikki chuckled darkly. "That's fine. I wasn't going to tell you anyway. Wouldn't want you to get all sentimental." she quipped rolling her eyes and giving the girl a smile. If the Hufflepuff was smart, she'd figure out that Rikki was just teasing.

"Me, sentimental, never," Maria said shaking her head with a smile. It was true, Maria was never one to even attempt to relate to what other people were going through. She was always too wrapped up in her own life to care.
"I'm Maria, by the way," she said, realizing that she hadn't bothered to tell the girl her name. "Maria Turolia." Looking out at the lake, Maria smiled. "So, would you like me to leave so you can be alone with your depression?" Maria asked in a somewhat sarcastic voice. She would leave the girl alone, if Erika wanted.

Erika shook her head and laughed. "I'm over it. I just get like that sometimes. Random bouts of depression. Quite annoying actually." Erika gazed off into the distance, thoughts running wild. "I wonder what Richard's doing." she muttered softly.

"Yes, that would be annoying. I don't think I could stand to have to deal with random bouts of depression," Maria said shaking her head slightly. The thought of dealing with frequent depression was enough to annoy her, let alone if she had to deal with it.
"Who's Richard?" Maria asked with the smallest bit of curiousity in her voice. She had just barely caught what the girl had said, her voice was so soft.

Erika looked up and blushed. Yes, blushed. "You heard that?" she asked. "Um... well, he's this guy..." she replied dragging out her answer, and twisting her hair around her finger, a habit she had when she was embarassed.

Maria smiled at the girl's reaction. Blushing and playing with your hair at the mention of a guy always meant that there was something more than simple friendship there. "So, is he a crush or a boyfriend?" she asked, with the same small bit of curiousity in her voice. She didn't want to seem nosy, but she would ask and if the girl didn't want to answer she didn't have to.

Erika bit her lip and smiled shyly. "Crush." she admitted. "Major crush." she sighed.

"Oh, I see," Maria said nodding her head. It seemed strange to her talking about such girly things. It wasn't often she talked about guys with the girls she knew. Actually, it was nice to have a conversation like most of the girls around the school had daily.
She thought for a few moments, trying to think of any guys she had met named Richard. She thought that on one occasion she had met a guy whose name was Richard, but she only had a vague memory of that occasion, so she could have been mistaken about his name. "What's his last name," she asked, trying to figure out whether or not she knew this Richard that Erika spoke of.

Erika giggled. Something that was very uncharacteristic of her. And she quickly made that known. "Ugh!" she mock-gagged. "I can't believe I just giggled! I'm turning into a sap!" she groaned. She looked over at Maria. "Maria, do me a favor. If I ever giggle again, slap me. Ick!" Erika shuddered.

Maria gave the girl a friendly smile. "No problem," she said with a nod. "I will be more than happy to slap you for giggling. It's rather funny how a guy can do that to a girl, huh?" she said teasingly. "Who would have ever thought that the ferocious Erika would be giggling?" She was only joking with the girl. In the past she had dealt with girls who had acted even stranger because of a guy. Still, it was strange to see this particular girl giggling.

Erika snickered. "I'm not that ferocious." she said, rolling her eyes. "But Richard certainly is something else. I don't know what it is about him... the fact that he tries to act normal when we're hanging out, but somehow still ends up stuttering his way through a conversation. Coming from anyone else, it'd be annoying. But coming from him, it's actually pretty cute." She sighed, "Or maybe it's how he doesn't see me as Erika the blood-sucking vampire, but rather as Erika the girl. Or maybe it's both." She smiled, "But either way, there's just something about Richard that makes it practically impossible for me to keep my mind off of him."
