Archibald smirked as Ashton spoke of being bias. "Indeed," Archi chuckled, and ran a small hand over his stubbly chin, "house pride and bias are all a natural part of going to Hogwarts." He had always found that a healthy sense of competition drove people to excel and he had found it most effective during internship at St Mungo's. He and the other interns always fought to gain their residence's respect, not gaining and inch in edgewise that was for sure but it never stopped them from trying.
The question that followed was unexpected. Visibly taken aback, Archi rubbed his stubbled chin again, thinking how best to answer the question. Truthfully, he told himself. He looked at Ashton, he brow heavy-set. "I did," he admitted but without any guilt or resentment in his gruff voice. "It is only natural for children to tease people who are different and as they all got taller and I did not grow an inch taller then when I started at this school it was only a matter of time before the teasing started."
Archi stood separate from the two students, swaying from foot to foot as he adjusted his weight, and he crossed his arms thoughtfully. "You get to ignore it after a while. You become hard on the outside and that is how you survive." Looking up at Mr McLane again, Archi asked slowly, "why do you ask?"

Eva grinned at Mr. Nish. "I'm glad to know you had good experiences with our houses Mr. Nish." She moved some hair from her face and returned to looking around the wing. This place amazed her, even if it grossed out other students. Eva loved the healing process and learning about the human body.
She was brought out of her daydreaming when Ashton spoke again. Tiri looked back over to Mr. Nish when he answered. Her lips curled downward ever so slightly. "People shouldn't mock others just because they're different. Originality is what makes life interesting." Her voice was starting to fade, she could feel it.
Eva cleared her throat and touched it lightly with the tips of her fingers. "Who taught you to become a-" Her voice stopped, and she cleared her throat again. "Healer." Eva continued in a whisper.

Ash shrugged. "Just curious I guess." then he sighed, "Plus people give me a hard time and I find that it's easier to deal with if I talk to other people who have been teased or picked on, because then I don't feel so alone."

Archibald looked down at Hufflepuff on the seat and he smiled mildly at her. During his time at Hogwarts, he had had very little dealings with other houses except two Hufflepuffs and one Gryffindor. He hadn't minded so much as it meant he had to talk about his height, or lack there of, a limited number of times. It wasn't that he was shy or particularly ashamed of it but people seemed to clam up when it came to it and things sometimes felt awkwards.
Tapping his finger lightly on Eva's chin when she spoke so passionately about being accepted, Archi smiled. "Passionate young lass, aren't you?" he said in his gruff voice. He turned back to the Ravenclaw and nodded, crossing his arms across his chest. "Strength in numbers," Archi pointed out at his words. "Personally, I never found much comfort in others as I had been taught that I am the only one who can make me happy." Shrugging, Archi let his arms drop to his side. "But being as I am alone is how I've always functioned best.
"If you need that support, however," Mr Nish added, "then I am happy to be it."
Another question came to him, from Eva and Archibald looked at her. He noticed the hand on her throat and frowned but the question was the thing on his mind. "I approached St Mungo's and shadowed the doctors there. They gave me source material and gave me a simple instruction: learn. Books the size of your face and only one night to get through it all. They were hard on me but I relished the challenge." He crossed his arms, thinking if there was anything else he could share but nothing came to mind.

Ash nodded. "I'm the same way. I enjoy being around people, but sometimes I'm just more comfortable by myself sometimes." He looked quizzically at Archi, "When kids at school teased you, how did you deal with it?" He sighed "I mean, I get teased alot because I'm gay, but I either ignore it, or sometimes I fight back. What did you do?"

Eva's lips curved upward ever so slightly. "Sorry sir, certain subjects call for it. At least, in my eyes they do." She dropped her gaze back to her lap as she clasped her hands together.
She nodded along with Mr. Nish. "Friends are always nice. They give you someone to talk to, and some way to spill out whatever happens to be eating at you." Tiri glanced over to Ashton, then Mr. Nish, then dropped her gaze back down to her lap. "And they accept you because you're you."
Tiri's hand lingered at her throat for a few minutes longer before she looked back over to Mr. Nish. A small grin lingered on her lips. "I thought as such. People have been telling me that it's a hard course to follow." She murmured, her voice slightly quieter than before.
Her gaze turned back to Ashton for a moment. "You shouldn't have to fight over things like that. Just tell them who you are. And as long as you're happy with it, that should be enough." Eva knew all too well about teasing and such. Most students thought her to be stuck up because she barely spoke with anyone. But truth was that she was always afraid her voice would give out, or her throat would start to hurt again.

Ash gave a small smile. "Yeah, I'm just sick of the jokes and namecalling. It's getting really old."

"Don't apologise," Archi told Eva, "passion is a credit to you, when it's called for or not." He had always wanted to be passionate about something but he had never found something that captured his attention so completely that he could commit totally to being one hundred percent passionate about it. Friendship was one thing that Archi was passionate about but not to such a great extent. "Indeed," Archi said, "friends are very important."
Archi had to think hard on Ashton's next line of questioning. He had been teased, that was for sure, but to actually say how he reacted to it without actually reacting that certain way. The reaction came instinctively and without forethought so relating it like he was being asked to do was a challenge. Challenges were good, Archi had always felt, and he relished in the chance to better himself.
"I never fought," Archi said, "that I can say for sure. I'm simply not built that way and I never liked it much anyway. It leaves people feeling physically hurt instead of dealing with their emotional stresses and I can assure you that is never good." Archibald thought back to his school days, of walking through the hallways with his best mate, Jake, and remembered the funny looks he would get, with Jake being as tall as he was.
"I usually just shrugged off the comments," Archibald said throughtfully, rubbing his three day old stubble. "I never let it get me down. I couldn't," he informed. "I ... erm ... yes, just ignored it." He thought he might be adding something else but he couldn't think of anything until Ashton's comment on name calling. "After a while you've heard them all and the silly names just sound stupid coming out of the mouths of people trying to hurt you. That makes it easier to laugh at and laughing is good for the soul."

Ash nodded. "That sounds like the best approach, and you know, I don't mean to sound whiny here, but I don't understand why stuff like this still goes on. I mean, what's with all the homophobia going on these days? Yes, I like guys. Does that mean I'm going to ravage every guy I see? No, it does not. So stop being so ridiculous!"
