She had completed all her homework and repacked her trunk twice before deciding that getting out of the Tower was a good idea. Amara had a bit of time before she had to go into Dinner on a rainy Saturday afternoon. That was to say she had many hours before Dinner would be served but for the young Ravenclaw getting lost in a book was easy and the time seemed to fly by. So, entering the Library with a bright smile on her rosy-cheeked face, Mar went in search of a book. Any book would do and it was easy enough to find one in this place but finding a good one was always the trick.
Walking up and down the centre isle a few times, Amara contemplated what she would like to read. Something about History? Something about Quidditch? Or how about something on Magical Creatures that seemed to disregard her entirely? "No," the Claw said slowly, passing that shelf by. She didn't need any reminder about how terrible with animals she was.
Continuing to stroll around, Mara noticed that there were other students around as well. There were three Slytherins younger then she was huddled around a table whispering about sometime that she couldn't hear. A Gryffindor, two Hufflepuffs and a Ravenclaw were hovering by a shelf talking to each other about which would be the best book to choose. They seemed very interesting to watch because they seemed interested in finding one book, any one, but having too many options they found to decision hard. Mara walked to them, reached up to the top shelf, as she was tall for her age, and pulled a book out. She handed it to the Gryffindor and smiled. "Here you go," she said, "I think this will help."
Moving on, Mara ignored the gasps the older students she left behind her made. As she past that shelf for a third time, Amara glazed lazily at it. This would do fine. She walked to the table next to it and lifted herself onto it so that she could see the wide selection of Transfiguration books. She sat there for a time, simply pouring her eyes over the spines of the many books, trying to make a decision. It amused her, and showed on her face, that she had found the previous decision easy when the four older students couldn't. "Oh how the tables turn..." she thought allowed.

For the most part, Dar's day had been quite the boring one. The day just seemed to drag on, never ending. Several times he had tried to fall asleep, but he never really could. Not with the thought that Bray may just try to suffocate him with his own mattress again. He had to be on his toes, with the fact that Bray was catching up to him on their little 'Beat-Down'. What was it that boys had a need to beat on each other everyday? Darius himself had no clue.
Looking out the window from dorm, he realized the sky was basically in the same mood he was. Bored. Nothing to do, besides rain. Deciding that dinner wasn't going to come any sooner if he laid around, doing nothing, Dar left the window and headed out the dorm door, ignoring Bray's comment about him finally leaving the dorm for once.
Walking out of the common room, and heading down the corridor, Gunner felt that the only excitement he was going to get today, would be in a book. Into the Library he went, almost dragging his feet in his bored mood. He felt the need to scream, out of boredom by now. Looking around the Library, Dar saw a fellow Ravenclaw, looking positively amused. 'At least some people can make something of a day like this..' He thought, grabbing a book off the nearest shelf.
Darius walked over to girl, and smiled lazily. "What keeps you in such a good mood on such a gloomy day?" He wondered, figuring a conversation with someone might brighten his bored mood.

The young Miss Amara Conway had become accustomed to being by herself. She understood that people found her a little stranger then most and this was alright by her, she labeled them as being too boring for her. But every so often Amara wanted company, wanted someone to share a story with, a private joke. She watched Bradyn and his friends with a little green twinkling in her dark eyes but fearing the unknown she never said anything of course.
Sitting on the table in the Library, the fourth year's legs dangling far from the ground, swinging lazily back and forth, she couldn't help but think that someone to talk to would make her feel that much better. Though she wasn't in one of the happiest places the girl had ever been in, there was a large smile on her face. She knew that even if she didn't get any company she would soon find a book to keep her occupied. This was to the little Claw a comforting thought and a happy one because she had the whole library to choose from.
Suddenly there was a voice to her side. Mar turned her head, her loose brown hair moving with her. The boy next to her was cute, according the her, and Amara smiled at him, holding onto the edge of the table with both hands as she leaned towards the boy. "It's the porridge," she said with a laugh dancing in the corner of her mouth as she smiled to the one side. Smiling, she looked back to the bookshelf and after a moment asked, "and why does the weather dictate your emotional state of being? Are you glum because the weather is or is the weather glum because you are?" Riddles! How Mara loved them.

As the girl turned to him, Dar got a better look of what she looked like. Of course, he would probably not recognize her, but if he did, it would be a miracle. He had an excuse though; he was relatively new, and hadn't necessarily met every student in the school. Darius was bit surprised that she had responded, the girls at his Muggle Summer School acted as if he didn't exist. Then again, it wasn't hard to wish he didn't, considering he could be quite annoying at times.
"The porridge, ay? The elves must be adding some secret ingredient.." He laughed. As she turned to look back at the book shelf, Gunner glanced at the random book he had grabbed on the way over, noticing it was something about Runes. 'Great. Out of all the books in this place, I had to grab something I can barley understand.' He thought, frowning slightly. He had only grabbed the book, as a possible excuse to talk to her, just in case she might start up a conversation about books.
Looking back up as she spoke, he gave a slightly confused look. "I guess, I'm glum because of the weather?" He responded, figuring this was just some joke. "I've got some radar thing going on; When the weather is all gloomy, I become upset, which basically means when the sun is shining, so am I!" Dar grinned, sticking a hand above is head, and rotating it around like it was picking up weather signals.

Amara looked back to the boy as he spoke about the marvelous porridge. Smiling at what an odd topic of conversation it was, Mara chuckled at the thought of a secret ingredient. "I don't know about that," she said, still chuckling to herself, "but whatever it is the stuff is better then my mothers and trust me that takes some doing."
Amara was reminded of her mother's cooking. Mrs Conway always fancied herself a good cook but if you were to ask the three who were forced to eat it, being Amara, Marcus and Mr Conway, they would tell you they went to bed hungry many a night. But the one thing Mrs Conway could cook well was porridge. Such a strange thing to be thinking about went you just made an acquaintance though her meetings were never boring, that was for sure.
Jumping off the table, Mar stepped towards the bookshelf and with one long extending finger pulled a thin blue book from the shelf. Listening to what the boy had to say, Mar turned with a little pinch of a frown. It went away very quickly to be replaced with a smile. "Well, being in Scotland, you must be upset often." She laughed and took a step towards the table, pulling a chair out from the table she had been sitting on.
Sliding onto the seat, Mar looked up at the boy. "I'm Amara, by the way," she said with a broad smile, "and you're welcome to join me here ... unless you've got some important ... erm, Runes homework to do?" She craned her head and read the title of the book the boy had pulled out. She didn't want to presume he had come over simply to speak with her but she did hope. Her rosy cheeks would flush an extra bright shade if that were the case.

Chuckling lightly, he grinned at her comment. "Really? She must make some excellent porridge then." Thinking for a moment, Dar shrugged. "My mum makes some pretty good meatloaf, but I don't think that counts, really." He was only trying to add to their odd conversation, but it was probably a bad attempt. He just wanted to have something in common, besides the fact they were both in the same House, and oddly obsessed with knowledge, books, and whatnot.
Thinking about it for a minute, Dar was almost tempted to ask her if her mum was a witch. It would be an odd question, and probably a bit awkward, so he thought against it quickly. As far as he was concerned, the students from his Muggle school had normal muggle parents, who did normal muggle things. Darius truly wondered what it would be like to have everyone in your family magical, not just one. Of course, it only ticked his 'perfect' parents off more, but hey, anything to get their water boiled.
Darius watched as she jumped from the table, and grabbed a book from the shelf. He wondered what she had suddenly picked, but never asked, for she said something about Scotland. Gunner laughed alongside her, grinning again. "The whole country must be in depression, poor lads."
When she introduced herself as Amara, Dar smiled. "I'm Darius. Pleasant meeting you." Sitting down, he probably looked like a sap, with the large smile on his face. Glancing at the Runes book, he frowned slightly, looking at the table, and scratching the back of his head. "Ah.. No.. I just sort of.. picked this out.." Looking back up at Amara, he shrugged his shoulders. "Honestly, I just sorta, grabbed a book, as an excuse to talk to you." 'Did that come out of my mouth?!' He thought, shocked by himself.
Well, she was cute, and what better way to talk to a cute girl, then by bringing along a book? Girls always seemed to be reading, then again, so seemed to be Dar. But Gunner now wondered if she would be freaked out, thinking it was odd to do such a thing. Looking back at the table, he started to follow the imprints with his eyes, distracting himself in case she told him off.

When the boy spoke of his mother making meatloaf Amara laughed heartily, all worries about disturbing people actually doing work forgotten. She didn't care, let them be disturbed! It was funny and she wasn't about to let a small little fact like they were in the library interupt her good time. That simply wasn't Mara.
It was good to hear that she was not the only one who found herself funny. The boy laughed with her and that made her a little proud and more then just a little very arrogant. Of course it was very like Mar to be arrogant but having affirmation, even if indirect, was a fan for her ego. People always thought boys were egotistical; they clearly hadn't met Amara Fern Conway in that case.
"This is why I feel," Amara began matter-of-factly, "that I have to be happy for everyone else." She smiled up at the Claw, brushing her fringe out of her face. "Not that I mind, me unhappy just won't work." Amara knew herself well for a nearly fifteen your old and she knew that she was more often then not happy. "Send those poor lads my way and I'll have 'em rolling in their seats before you can say 'why do people live on this smell isle anyway?'"
Amara lay the book down on the table in front of her, opening it absently onto the front page. Flipping through the pages, pictures of creatures flapping by, Amara's dark brown eyes were fixed on Darius, as he introduced himself, with a smile. The next words that came out of Darius' mouth made her big brown eyes went as big as saucers and her smile stretched further across her face.
His embarrassment was too adorable and Mar couldn't let him squirm any more. Keeping quiet for a second longer, Mar realised she could but after the moment had past, as well as the shock at him just coming out and saying it, Mar clapped her hand down on her book, opening it wide. "Good," she said once she was certain she had his attention, "it's not like I was actually going to read this and I love company."
She hoped that would dispel any worries he may have had. "So," Amara said soon after, leaning her elbows on the table and leaning ever so slightly closer to Darius, "do you often come to the library to chat up unsuspecting girls?"

Darius laughed at her comment. "Happy-go-lucky type, I presume?" He said, grinning. "It's a good thing at least one person's always happy. Otherwise, this whole place might just get dreary." Glancing at the Runes book again, he really just wanted to chuck it across the room. It was such a dull subject, and hard as well. "They could use someone like you back at Durmstrang. There's not a smile on their faces most of the time. Got quite boring after a while."
Gunner could see the satisfaction on Amara's face when he said he was using the book as an excuse to talk to her. A slight smirk played on his lips at her expression. "Glad you enjoy company. Otherwise, I would've just sat here and rambled the day away while you read. It would probably get annoying after a while, but I would continue on until I'd see some life in you." An innocent smile replaced the smirk on his face. Ah yes, Dar could get quite annoying after a while. But, as long as it didn't bother him, it was no problem.
He nearly burst into laughter after she asked him about coming here. He only quieted down when he realized they were in a library, and he was getting glares from students and librarians. "Oh, not all the time. Just on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I got bored, and decided to come today." Dar responded with a large, cheesy grin.
(sorry it's crap, but i needed to post back!)

[[not at all]]
It was always nice to have company before you had a meal, it meant you might have company during the meal too. This was wishful thinking on Mara's part, as she usually acted so crazy that people very kindly declined her request to join her for dinner. Perhaps they thought she was going to eat them? This seemed very impractical since there were people to cook food for her so she didn't get much say in the matter. Ah well!
"And dreary is never good for any sort of prolonged amount of time," Amara added beaming a wide smile at Darius. It was true: Amara was a happy go lucky sort of girl. She appeared to take little seriously and seemed to always be having fun, no matter what she was doing or who she was with. That was always so much easier then being sad all the time.
Mara smiled mildly. From his comment she presumed he transfered from Drumstrang semi recently. She had not seen him around before but she was having fun now all the same. Mar chuckled quietly to herself. The way she saw it if she had any more life in her she would be bouncing quite literally off the walls and no one wanted that.
"Then I feel very honoured," she chimed teasingly, "since it's Wednesday and all. And I'm happy to be the remedy to your boredom." She shifted her body in her chair so she could face Darius better. "You know," she said, " for someone who was so depressed a few minutes ago, you seem to have livened up a great deal."
