What was it about Dar's parents that made him squirm every time they talked to him, or sent him a letter? It was probably from the fact he was so different from them, and there was nothing they could ever agree on. Well, one thing, but that was only now and then. Music. Ah yes, music was a connection for everyone. Of course, Darius hadn't chosen to play the piano, but he enjoyed it from time to time. Especially when he was playing his own music, instead of stuff his parents wanted him to play.
Walking down from the Owlery, shoving the letter from his parents into his back pocket, Gunner decided that he'd go do something that didn't make him squirm with displeasure. Reading. He wondered if there was a book on musicians in the Wizarding world, and if it would be available for check out.
With his arms crossed over his chest, Dar made his way towards the library, home on his mind. When he had reached a Ravenclaw's favorite place on earth, Gunner made his way over to the back of the library, instantly finding a book he wanted. He hadn't found a book on music, but instead something that also interested him. History of Magic. He had come from a muggle family, no magic to be found in the history of Willis family. So, learning more about what you were seemed to be an essential thing to do.
Taking a table nearest the book shelf he'd just taken the book from, Dar was instantly absorbed in the book. Subconsciously, though, he began drumming his fingers and hands on the table, while the book laid upon it. It was a habit, to be honest. If Darius had his choice in the instrument, he would've taken up drums, but that didn't seem to be the case. The only drums he would be playing, would be the the 'table drums'. Ones he never really noticed he played.

Being a half-blood, Stacey took a lot of interest in both different aspects of each world. She was fascinated by the world of magic and the possibilities it had, but also enjoyed the normality of being a muggle. In her eyes, she really did have the best of both worlds.
Being a typical Ravenclaw, and wanting to upgrade her knowledge of random facts in which she had the greatest love for, she made her way to the library to stalk the encyclopedia. Walking into the Library empty handed, which usually never happened, she normally always had a book on her somewhere, even if it was a notebook, she made her way over to where the Encyclopedia was.
Picking up the extrodinarily large and heavy book she pulled it over onto the nearest table, and it fell hard onto the table. Noticing a fellow Ravenclaw, who she's never really spoken to, she looked at him and smiled. Maybe it was time for her to introduce herself? Even though they were both in the same year, it was just one of them things that they'd never introduced themselves. "Hi, I'm Stacey Kieler, do you mind if I sit here?" she asked, pointing to a chair opposite the boy.

In the half hour Darius had been sitting there, reading, drumming, and turning pages, he had learned quite a bit about the history of famous wizards. Though, through the course of reading, he had heard quite a few 'shushes', but he couldn't figure out who the people were talking to, oblivious to his drumming vest going on. Turning the next page, he heard a loud thud, and gave the page a strange look. "Was die Hölle?" Lifting one hand, he turned the page back, and then turned it back once more. No thud.
But then a voice picked up, and Dar looked up, stopping his obnoxious drumming, and found a girl standing on the opposite side of the table. The look on his face was completely dumbfounded, and then his mind clicked. Large book sitting on the table before the other Ravenclaw, large thud. Duh. Showed how smart this Ravenclaw was. "Sure." He said, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment. "I'm Darius Willis." Gunner replied, remembering she had introduced herself. "Looks like you're in for a read there."

Stacey couldn't help but laugh when the boy had shouted out some different language, and watched him turn the page back and fourth in confusion. Realising she was in the library and quietness was a must, she stiffled her laugh.
"Well, Hi Darius. You should get yourself some drumsticks, you'd be pretty good I reckon" she said, pulling out the chair and sitting down on it. Pulling the book from the end of the table to infront of her, she flicked through until she reached 'R'. "Yeah, Luckily i've read most of it. I'm starting on the letter R now. I'm such a random facts nerd" she gave him a smile. Noticing his book she raised her eyebrows. "Ah, I love that book. I have the best of both world's being a half-blood, it's great!"

It took Darius was minute to realize he had gone off into his music mode again, then smirked. "Ah, I wish I could. My parents prefer me to play the piano, so I'm stuck with it." He said, rolling his eyes, and smiling. "'R'? You're on 'R'? Someone has a lot of time on their hands!" He said, laughing. It was a surprise Gunner had made it in the Ravenclaw house, for he didn't spend every waking moment reading. But he did enjoy reading, so that was probably what separated him from the rest of the houses.
"I've read a good portion of it already. It is pretty good!" Dar commented, grinning. "Half-blood, ay? Pretty lucky. I come from a muggle family. Thank Merlin I'm a wizard, otherwise I would've been sent off with my sisters to some prissy boarding school.." Taking a quick look back at the page he was reading, he turned the page as he had finished it. "Which one of your parents is magical related?"

"The piano really? Wow. We have a piano that my mom used to play before I was born, but she died giving birth to me and nobody's ever used it since" she replied. Stacey looked back down at the book, and flicked a few more pages before she finally reached 'R'.
"So where abouts are you from Darius?" she asked, pondering about what he just blurted out moments before when she slammed the book onto the table that made her laugh. She could tell he said 'What the hell' as she had taught herself a bit of the German language.
"You should just get some drumsticks seriously, ignore your parents, drum on some upside down saucepans in the kitchens" she grinned. She flicked her hair behind her shoulder and leant on her hand.

Darius was a bit excited when she began talking about how they had a piano at her house, possibly ready to make a connection. But then, she touched a subject he didn't particularly liked talking about. Deaths. It didn't bother him to an extent where he was creeped out, and ready to cry when people talked about deceased others. It just, was an awkward thing to talk about. He didn't really know what to say in those kinds of situations. Simply looking down at the book, he scratched the back of his neck again, before looking up at her voice.
"We lived in Germany, until I was two. Then we moved to Romania. I've just recently moved here." He said, shrugging and smiling. Despite the fact he spoke both German, and Romanian at home, he was really good with picking up other languages quickly. Laughing at her comment, he shook his head. "Yeah, I should. It would tick my parents off to no end, that's for sure. I'm already near being kicked out of the house as it is."

Sensing his awkwardness, Stacey gave him a polite smile when he started scratching his neck. When she mentioned her mother's death in connection with the piano, it was something she didn't really need to tell him, but it was just one of those things. It needed to be said to make a bit more sense.
"Wow, you've been around a lot then" she asked intruiged. Her raised eyebrows suggested she was keen on knowing more about Darius and his colourful life. Coming from California, nothing was as exciting as his life seemed to be. Coming to Hogwarts was the first time she had left America to go to another country, so the entire journey was an experience for her.
Laughing when Darius mentioned he was close to being kicked out, she soon raised her eyebrows and pouted. "Well that's not very nice of them" she said before quickly turning her pout into a toothy grin.
"Why? Have you been breaking your mom's utensils?" she joked. It was a funny image she got of Darius sat on the kitchen floor with all of the kitchen saucepans spread out infront of him, and two wooden spoons in his hands, and happily drumming away on the bottoms of them. She giggled at the thought of it.

Seeing the smile on Stacey's face, he smiled back, though it still showed a little awkwardness in it. He could tell she probably didn't intend to say that, it was just to connect the two things together. Pulling himself out of the awkward stance, he cleared his throat, and smiled with more confidence.
"Yeah, I guess. Romania was neat, I suppose. But we go to Germany over the holidays to meet with my family up there." Dar replied, remembering the days in Romania in his Muggle school, his friends from Durmstrang, and the holidays he spent with his Muggle family in Germany. "But, enough about me. Have you always lived in England? Or did you move here?" Gunner asked, trying not to sound full of himself by keeping the subject on him.
Darius laughed as she told him his parents weren't very nice for almost kicking him out. "If you met my parents, you wouldn't think they're very nice people. Especially to anyone that's not like them." He replied, returning the grin. Ah yes, Harold and Janet Willis were those 'picture perfect' parents. They had four children, good jobs, and a lovely home. Each of their children partaking in some sort of activity. Their three younger ones in instruments, while their oldest into modeling. Yes, the Willises would seem to be the picture perfect family, if it wasn't for Darius.
Dar was the one who killed their perfect life. Almost all his life, he was rebellious against his parents' wishes. Writings on the wall, food on the floor, a messy room. A completely different child from his three sisters. His hair was always a mess, no matter how hard he tried to comb it. His clothes were almost always wrinkled. No matter how hard they tired, they couldn't keep their only son in line. And when they thought he couldn't get worse, he was a wizard.
"Ah, not exactly. A couple broken vases; a mirror or two. And not to mention the writings on the walls. I basically murdered their chances of having the perfect life." He said, a large grin on his face. Mr. and Mrs. Willis should have only had one child, because she was their pride and joy. After her, came their challenge, and after him, came the two that were hard to squeeze into the picture, but they managed it. Countless times he was called the 'Willis Family Shame.' But to Gunner, he was the 'Willis Family Fame.'

“That sounds fun, I’ve always wanted to travel around Europe” she answered. Waiting until he had finished his next question about where she came from, before she gulped randomly and began to answer. “No, I’m from California. I’m a half-blood and my neighbours from California, The Carrons, are muggleborn. Me and their son, Jamie-Paul have been friends for years, and once he found out I was going to Hogwarts, he left his muggle school and came with me. He’s always jumping on the band wagon, always wants a bit of excitement and a break from normality that one” she joked.
Darius began to talk about his parents not being as nice as parents should. Stacey pulled a face that couldn’t quite be classed as anything, but it was partially a look of sadness for him. “That sucks, still, they should accept you whatever your like anyway” she sympathised. Stacey guessed by the way Darius talked that he had a few siblings. Stacey began to wonder what it would be like to have someone other than herself and her father in the family to talk to. The days when she was younger she longed for someone just to come and play with her barbie dolls with her, the only one she had was Jamie-Paul, but obviously he never wanted to play with barbies. She was always roped into going swimming and surfing on the beach, which was great, but all around her, she saw people with brothers and sisters, and she felt alone. Still, her father was always there, and the odd time he wasn’t at work, he would play with her for a while until he was too tired. Stacey was glad he could spend at least a little time with her.
Stacey couldn’t help but laugh and clutch her stomach when Darius reeled off a list of things he’d broken and ruined. Stacey always got images of things in her head, and this time was no different. Imagining a baby Darius writing profanities on the wall and his parents coming in and going crazy at him. Even if the images she had weren’t true, she still found them funny.
