Three weeks had gone by and finally she was old news. Maxi still hadn't spoken to her and would barely glance her way in class. It began to worry her some but she wasn't going to let it get to her, she couldn't. She had made it a priority to focus on School for the time being until the day Maxi would get back to her, if it ever came. Oh well, at least Daniel will be happy with my school marks.
Her bookbag had become uncomfortably heavy and made her walk with a slight arch of her back, something she wasn't used to. She was usually early to classes as well but today was a different matter. The shoulder strap on her bag decided to rip before it fell to the ground, sending her school books and all its other contents in every direction.
"Crap," Laney muttered as she came down on hands and knees and attempted to stuff everything back into the bag. It was a little hard when everyone either kicked or stepped on her books sending them further away from her. She scrambled to get to to History of Magic book as she was shoved by numerous students on their way to class. "Excuse me," she said rather annoyed.
There it was, her book. Laney bent to retrieve it until a foot found its way on top of it. Laney sighed. "Excuse me, can I-" she broke herself off she noticed who it was.

Just because you didnt hear the rumours anymore, didnt mean they were'nt still circulating. Maxi still got the odd looks of people everywhere he went, and girls, since it came out Max wasnt gay, or not completly anyway, had taken to trying to throw him seductive smiles or touching him at any chance they got. Maxi found the situation annoying and hoped it would die down soon enough. What does a guy need to do to find peace around here?
It had been around three weeks since he had seen Laney, no fault of hers he knew that. More like he needed time to work through his thoughts, even now he wasnt sure if he was ready to run into her. Maxi didnt look at her in lessons, he kept his gaze anywhere but on Laney, Ash and Cris. Things were awkward enough, Max had even heard Ash was with Cris now, but he didnt know if that was true or not. It certainly would add a twist on things, though Max would be annoyed if it was true, afterall, the two of them had given Max and Lane enough crap.
As Max walked slowly down the corridor, humming a muggle song as he walked, keeping his eyes fixed firmly ahead of him. Ignoring everything else that was going on around him. He was tall enough to look over the heads of people so it made ignoring the people a whole lot easier. Even so, it didnt stop people trying to get his attention or catch his gaze, all he wanted was for one stress free day. Was that too much to ask for?
He felt something beneath his foot and stopped, looking down he noticed it was a book he supposed someone must have dropped it. Pulling his foot off it, the blonde bent down and picked it up in his hand as he heard a voice that sent a chill running through him. His blue eyes turned to see the face he knew only too well. Laney's. Well, he knew he couldnt avoid her forever. "This yours?" He asked simply as he turned the book round in his hands, "History of Magic... God help them if they ever try to write a History of my life. It would be like one of them muggle drama soaps" he thought despite himself as he passed the book to the girl on the floor and stood up.

Laney figured this meeting was by chance, she could see it in his eyes that he wasn't planning on running into her anytime soon. At least he was talking to her, it was a good sign, even it if was... two words. Laney gave a nod, "Yeah," she said before she took the book from him, "Thanks, Max," she mumbled.
Was that all she could say to him? Yeah, thanks? Sad, Laney. Real sad. Laney stood up and looked at him. She opened her mouth to say something as she pointed to a spot behind her. Unsure of what she was actually going to say, she turned around and looked where she was pointing. It was where she had left her bag but now the bag was gone. Carolanne gave an annoyed sigh, "Great, now where has it gone," she said before turning back to Max.
She tilted her head slightly to the side, a cue that she was going to ask for something. "Max? Er, my bags gone. You wouldn't mind helping me look for it, would you? I mean, if you're going to be late to class you don't have to. I'd just rather not wander around aimlessly like an idiot alone," she mumbled the last bit. Alone. It's what she was.
Lane gave a nervous laugh, "You know what? Nevermind I asked that of you. It was a silly thought anyway." Laney turned away from him and was about to take a step forward but found herself facing Max again. She needed to talk to him and knew they probably wouldn't run into each other again for a while, "I changed my mind. I'd like your help please."

"Its alright" Maxi mumbled as she took the book from him, freeing his outstretched hand which he brought round to the back of his neck with a rather nervous smile on his face. Max was aware of everyone looking at them as they walked past, he had been used to the rumours but the stares he was recieving from passers by made his stomach churn.
Max looked to where she was pointing and with a brief nod he followed her, wondering what she was now going to say to him, and how was he going to explain why he hadnt been around, he hadnt been avoiding her, or at least he didnt think he had. It was just they seemed to be in different places all the time. What's gone? he thought to himself though looking around as though he knew what she was talking about.
He looked at her when she said his name, giving the sound of 'Uh huh' to show he had heard her as he turned around to look at her. He listened to what she had to say, in all honesty he wasnt heading to class anyway, he had decided to miss double potions today. Though still, he was prefect and he should set an example, he just couldnt be bothered right now.
Mind Change. And Again.
Laney kept changing her mind which made Max laugh, his blue eyes sparkled as though he was laughing for the first time in a long time, holding out his hand for her to grab, with his free hands he took the books off her and shoved them in his bag for now. "Lets go and find your bag"

As Carolanne looked at Maxi, all her thoughts of screaming at him had faded. She was just happy he wasn't walking away as fast as he could, as if she was the plague or something. She could tell by his body language that he still didn't want to discuss them, if they even existed so she would refrain from those questions for now.
As he laughed, Carolanne couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed so to free the tension, she gave a nervous laugh. "Yeah, sorry. I've become a bit indecisive lately," she said running a hand through her locks. The sparkle in his eyes made her blush slightly so she turned away and cleared her throat.
As he took her books and placed them in his bag, Laney grinned. She was a bit hesitant on taking his hand, but eventually let her hand slide into his. "They don't usually hide it far," she said a bit embarrassed, "I'm just... never tall enough to get it."

Max couldnt help but think about them, what was going on between them, even if he didnt want to yet. Things were still messed up and the sudden arrival of his brother had thrown Maxi more off balance if that was even possible. Still the two of them stood there in silence as though it was the most normal thing to do. There were things he wanted to say to her, things he wanted to tell her but now didnt seem like the right time.
He saw her blush and a smile crept onto his features, rather unwanted though it felt good. He gave a nod and noticed how she'd picked up on one of his nervous habits. When she started to pick at her cuticles, that was when he would get worried. "Girls are indecisive anyway." Maxi laughed as he began to walk, he felt her take his hand and he pulled her up to him so she was walking beside them, people were looking at them in the corridors as they walked down them. Hearing what she said next made Maxi laugh. "Well luckily for you, someone strikingly handsome and rather tall is with you so you wont have to worry about that."
They walked down a few more corridors as Maxi's eyes scanned his surroundings looking for the bag. When he found out who was hiding it, he would personally see to the point that they never did it again, he would throw them in a fourmonth worth of detention with Vance. "So what would you say if I asked you to join me for a drink later tonight?"

"Girls are indecisive, Maxi?" she said raising an eyebrow slightly, a smile still playing on her face. If there was ever an indecisive person amongst them, Max would beat her by a mile stone, yet she wouldn't dare say that out loud. Maxi did things on his own time, as did she but of course, their timing never matching.
Carolanne could feel eyes on them as they walked hand in hand. For obvious reasons, she felt comfortable next to Max and just ignored the stares. Carolanne laughed. "Well, you are tall, but we might have to reconsider the strikingly handsome part a bit," she joked. Of course Maxi was good looking, everyone thought so. Lane nudged him a bit.
Carolanne was staring at the ceiling figuring maybe someone had charmed it when Maxi's question caught her off guard. Yes!She looked at him and smiled, "I'd have to say, what time?"

"Of course they are Laney!" Maxi laughed as the two of them walked down the corridor, he was completly oblivious to the stares surrounding them, owing to the fact he didnt care and had long since stopped caring about them. Showing he was bothered by it only infused the rumours, sort of like giving wood onto the fire freely and Max didnt want to do that.
Max gave Laney's hand a squeeze. This both showed he was comfy and he no longer cared for the rumours or the stares. Even girls were pointing at them in disbelief, probably wondering how Lane had turned Max straight when so many of them had tried, and failed. They just didnt get him the way Laney had. "You know i'm handsome" Maxi said sticking his tongue out at her as they walked down the corridor.
"Then I'd tell you about seven." Maxi smiled, this was a round the trees way of asking Laney to meet him tonight and he knew it was. Though she seemed to be clicking onto the fact that he did want to meet her, which obviously showed he wasnt trying to avoid her anymore.
