It seemed almost every time someone needed a hand, a Hufflepuff was there to fix things up. It was probably the reason why Noel was put into Hufflepuff, versus any of the other houses. His father was sure that he'd be in Ravenclaw like himself, but, to his dismay, Noel wasn't. Laying on his four-post bed, Noel stared up at the banister above his head, thinking about his life back at home. His mum was probably sitting on the couch, waiting for Kaitlynn to get home. His dad was probably with Keegan and Victoria. This was the life of Noel Princeton; two families, and yet he could deal with it.
Deciding it was time to stop laying around, Noel sat up, and out the boy's dorms, he wandered into the common room, looking for something to do. After a few minutes of walking around, and a couple odd stares, he decided that being in the common room was not the best idea right now.. So, out of the common room he went, hands behind back, cheerful smile on face. It was nearly impossible to find Noel without a smile of any sort; unless, of course, he was sleeping or something upset him.
Wandering the corridors for a while, he noticed a first year, struggling with several books piled up. 'Poor thing.' He thought, walking over to him. "Need some help?" The frightened first year nodded, trying to hide the satisfaction he was about to receive. "My next class is a couple corridors over.." The child responded. Grabbing a couple books off the poor boy's hands, Noel followed the first year to his next class. When the student finally reached the class room, he thanked Noel, and took his books back. Ah yes, it was just a Badger's Business to help.
Going back to his walk, Noel looked out the window, watching the October sky. The month had it's ups and downs, and this Friday hadn't decided what it would be like. With the whole, sixth year study thing, Noel had nothing to do, really. Rounding the corner, he could've sworn he'd heard something, or someone hit the ground, and decided to investigate.

[Don't worry, It's better than what I can usually come up with! ]
Karis had been trying to study in the library, but it was full of Ravenclaw's in utter silence, and it felt uncomfortable to her for it to be totally silent, so she had packed her stuff up and decided to try the great hall. Laying her stuff down, and trying to restart her essay on Hippogriff's, a subject in general that she really enjoyed learning about. Trying to write a few more lines, she couldn't concentrate because of too much noise. She looked around a little aggravated, and the hall seemed to be full of the noisiest students possible, and they were all hooked up with caffeine. Sighing, a little angrily, she packed up her things roughly once more and hopped over the bench before storming out. Walking, to god knows where, she walked down what seemed a lone corridor, and her books slipped from her arms, causing an echo shooting down the corridors. Huffing, she raised her eyebrows and bend down to pick them up when she heard footsteps.

To confirm the sounds, Noel went down the corridor more, to find a girl picking up her fallen books. "Here, let me help you with that." He quickly said, grabbing her books for her. The girl -a fellow Hufflepuff- looked rather agitated. It was almost as if he'd stepped out of his body, and saw himself picking up the books, because the whole Badger's Business came back into his head. "I'm Noel." He said smiling, and handing her books back to her. "And, I'm guessing that everything just seems to be going wrong today?" He joked, attempting to get not as annoyed.

Karis heard a voice and looked up to see a fellow Hufflepuff. She'd obviously seen him around, being in the same year and house, but they'd never really got around to talking to each other. When he offered to help her, she gave a greatful smile. "Thanks Noel" she said, picking up some of her things and standing back up. "I'm Karis" She smiled, dusting off the floor dirt from her knee. She cradled the books that she had picked up. He asked her about it being a bad day and she gave a quick laugh. "You could say that. First off I try to study in the library, but it's too quiet, then I try in the Great Hall, but it gets too loud! I can't seem to win" she flashed him a toothy grin. "So what are you doing? Having a break?" she asked with a raised eyebrow with a cute smile. Noel seemed a really nice and decent guy, why had they never spoken before?

Noel was sure he'd seen the other Hufflepuff before. Of course he did. She was in some of his classes, and in his house. And by the looks of it, she was in his year as well. "Your welcome." He smiled, happy to help. He nodded at her name, pretty sure he'd heard it before. Hearing her study-session gone bad ordeal, he laughed lightly. "I would suggest outside, but the day seems to be having an on-off thing going on right now." He replied, glancing at the window.
"Yeah, I guess. It kinda gets boring after a while. Sitting there, staring at a book. I thought I'd get out before I become a hermit." Noel said simply, shrugging lightly. "Looks like you could use a break too." Grinning, he shoved his hands into his pockets once more. It would be more enjoyable to be talking to someone, then to be looking at a page in a book for hours on end, taking in almost nothing. "Do you want me to hold some of your books for you?" He asked, already taking some of the books back from her.[/size]

Karis gave a small chuckle as Noel looked out of the window and said about the weather being on and off. Nodding in agreement, Karis hugged her books and shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah, I realised when the first half of my essay got soaked" she said, pulling out the crumpled pieces of parchment with ruined writing on it. She gave a smile before stuffing it back into her bag. "You know, I think your right, I do need a break" she flashed him a grin. She twisted around and looked down the corridors before looking back at Noel. Noel then asked if she wanted him to hold some books for her, and quickly took some off her before she could answer. "Urm, wow. Thanks" she said. "That's really nice of you. So, do you want to take a walk with me somewhere?" she said, signalling with her arm behind her. "I mean, your going to have to now anyway, you've stolen my books" she joked before laughing.

When Karis took out the wrinkled parchment, he chuckled lightly. "Hope you didn't get too far on that. That would be a little disappointing." Noel smiled as she said she'd take a break. She did look a little stressed, and he was pleased to hear she'd step away from it all for a bit. "Sure, that'd be great." He responded happily. When she joked about him taking her books, he held the tight. "Nah, I think I'll just keep them." He kidded, grinning, and beginning to walk towards the direction she had gestured to.

Karis laughed along with Noel as he mentioned the parchment. She had been disappointed at the time it got ruined, but then realised she had done it wrong anyway. "Luckily no. I'd a done small paragraph and found out it was wrong" she flashed Noel a big grin. Karis was pleased to hear Noel was going to walk with her, and she twisted herself a little left and right, in a sort of girlish way without realising. He then grabbed hold tight of the books and said he was going to keep them before walking off. Karis just stood for a moment and smiled to herself and quickly caught up with him. Once she was at his side, she slowed her pace a little and took a quick glance at him, and meeting his gaze, held it and smiled. "How come we've never got round to talking properly before?" she thought, but she realised she had said it out loud too.

Noel smiled again -a habit couldn't really break- and chuckled. "Well, that's good. It would be really disappointing if you were finished with it, and realized it was wrong. Then the rain came, and washed away a good hour's worth of work." He thought about it for a moment, then turned back to Karis. "You could've made some modifications to it if you finished it, but the rain would probably just destroy it anyway." He shrugged.
When she wasn't next to him when he began walking off, Noel glanced behind him to find Karis catching up. "I know I take long strides, but I didn't know I took that big of them." He commented, thinking that his long steps had kept her behind. But she was keeping up pace with him now, so he didn't think too much of it. Karis had caught his gaze, and smiled, causing Noel himself to smile as well. It was like an automatic thing, he really hadn't thought of smiling back, he just.. did.
The question caught him for a minute, causing Noel to pause for a minute, before walking again. "I don't really know.. I'm regretting never talking to you properly before though." He admitted, grinning.

When Noel admitted he regretted never talking to her before, Kar gave a big toothy grin and turned away from him blushing slightly. After a few moments silence, and her blushing had gone, she turned back to him. "Me too" she replied simply. Deciding to change the subject, she hugged her books tighter. "So, Tell me about your family" she smiled, wanting to get to know him a little more. She thought about what she just said and realised it may of sounded forceful or nosey. Hoping she didn't annoy him, she said nothing until he answered her. She'd soon find out.
(urgh sorry it's rubbish lol!)

There was silence for a little bit after he said he regretted not talking to her, and when he glanced at her, she was turned away from him. Thinking that he'd said something wrong, he opened his mouth to apologize, when she turned back, and agreed with him. Grinning, he looked back ahead for a minute, before turning back to Karis as she spoke. "My family? Well.. I've got a younger sister, and a half-brother. My parents divorced and my dad re-married. My sister isn't very fond of it, but it doesn't bother me really." He responded. "What about you? What's your family like?" He asked, interested in what her life was like outside of Hogwarts.
(no, it's fine!

Listening to Noel as he talked about his family, she smiled. "Oh. Well, i'm glad it doesn't bother you. That's a good thing" she looked at him in an understanding way. "My family? Well as you can probably tell, I'm from Wales. We live in a cottage with a farm, I love it out in the country. I had to leave my sheep, Doris, behind" she grinned. Doris, her own sheep that she had handreared from when she was born as her mother unfortunately fell ill and died. "I have a younger brother called Elliott, poor thing was distraught when he found out he was a ya-kno'...Squib" she said the last word in a partial whisper. She wasn't ashamed of the fact at all, but she just didn't want others overhearing, especially Slytherin's.

Noel smiled as Karis commented the part about him not being bothered by his parents' divorce. Kaitlynn was positively traumatized when they had found out their parents would no longer be together. And she went into shell-shock when their father was remarrying, and having a third child. She mainly moped around nowadays, much like their mother. Their mother was the one who wanted the divorce, but she wasn't so keen on the idea of her ex-husband remarrying, and having another kid.
Noel listened as Karis talked about her own family, nodding occasionally. "It's a good thing your brother's younger, or he might just attack me." He joked, thinking of a boy version of Karis, pummeling him to the ground for talking to his younger sister. He chuckled at the thought of that happening. "You don't have an older brother, right?" He asked, making sure there wouldn't be some guy stalking them as they chatted.

Karis gave a loud laugh as Noel became worried about her having an older brother. Stiffling her laughter with her hand, she finally stopped laughing. "No, No older brother. Why would it matter?" she said, nudging him gently with her elbow and giving him a grin. She looked down and watched her footsteps for a moment before looking back up. They had finally left the long corridor and walked out onto a brighter more airy one. "So is your sister still... traumatized?" she said pulling a strange face, in which she was trying to pull off the traumatized look, it probably wasn't working. Laughing, she gave up. "So where are you from then?" she asked, her accent became thick once again.

Noel smirked as Karis laughed at his question. "Just making sure." He replied, grinning back at her. The air seemed to lighten as they walked into a different corridor. Looking out the nearest window, the sky seemed to be clearer, yet the clouds were still lingering here and there. Looking back at Karis as she spoke, he laughed at her expression. "Sort of." He said, a smirk still on his face when she'd given up on trying to look traumatized.
"England. Nothing exciting. Moved a couple times, but no where special." He admitted, shrugging again. "Obviously you're from Wales." He said, grinning. "Did you move here, or is there not a Wizarding School in Wales?" Noel asked, interested in what her background was like.
