Vicky stood in the class staring at all of the empty desks that would soon be filled with students waiting for her to teach them something. She was all a dither, filled with fear one minute and excitement the next. Teaching had always been something she wanted to do but now that it was a reality she was scared of not living up to Hogwarts' schools standards. Well, she'd never know until she tried so she reined her emotions in and made her way to the board.
The first class she hoped would be interesting, because it would deal with the history of magic including what muggle's considered magic. There were debates as to when magic came into being, simply because when others spoke of magic they were referring mainly to the parlor tricks muggle's did on street corners for cash.
Granted that had something to do with their history but it was simply a small part. She wanted to know when wizarding magic came into being. This was not an easy question she knew but it was an important one.
Using her wand she simply wrote on the board Please be seated, take out your books, quills, and parchment and talk quietly until class begins.

Sarie headed for Hisotry Of Magic. She couldn't wait. She was ready to learn she loved history. She was ready to learn. She sat down waiting or the class the to start.

Glancing down at her watch Girty was surprised to see that she was actually heading to lesson on time and awake for it. Walking through the hustle and bustle of the castle corridors Girty pushed her way though groups of people, shoulder barged a couple of Slytherin’s who had been getting on her nervous and she even had time to stop and help a first year who had someone managed to drop the entire contents of their bag on the floor.
As she reached the classroom Girty pushed the door open and peered around inside. At first she noticed Sarie sitting all by herself and then she saw the professor. Her mouth dropt open slightly before she remembered her manors and closed both her mouth and the door and walked into the room deciding to be sociable for once and sat down next to the Gryffindor.
“Hello Sarie. How are you today?”
Pulling out her books Girty looked back at Professor Potter almost as a double take. It was not uncommon for a member of staff to become a teacher, but for the Keeper of Keys to move into a subject such as this. But on second thoughts from what Dan had told her it truly did not surprise her. From his tale he heard nothing but good things about her, although Dan praising a female was never a rare thing. Deciding not to just stare and the poor teacher, who was clearly very anxious Girty shot her a warm smile before returning her attention back to Sarie.

Sarie looked up to see Girty Hubbles. "Oh I'm good you?" She asked with a smiled. She really hadn't talk to the Hufflepuff but she had wanted to. "You have a good summer?"

Ash walked into the classroom, noticing how quiet it was. His eyes swept around the room, and noticed that only two other students had joined so far. As he walked past the Professor, a young woman he hadn't met yet, he nodded his head. Ashlynd wasn't like other first years. He wasn't afraid or intimidated by classes or magic. He was excited to get going on his education. The adventurous boy could only think of amazing things he could do once he was skilled in magic. He was, of course, to young to be thinking about the future and serious things, like jobs. Magic was now just a little play thing to be used in his adventures.
However, History of Magic wasn't a class where he would be able to learn anything exciting. He had heard his older sister, Olivia talking about her boring History classes and had come to the conclusion that this class was a waste of time. However, he was always respectful, as well as a good actor. He could at least pretend he was interested.
Ashlynd seated himself in a desk behind a girl he recognized from his own house. He had seen her playing exploding snap with a girl named Poppy. He had come to the conclusion that everyone knew Poppy. He hoped he would be that popular someday. Next to the Gryffindor was a much older Hufflepuff. Ashlynd wasn't sure, but he guessed that she could be a sixth or even seventh year. Again, unlike most first years, Ash wasn't afraid of older years. Opening his book, he smiled at both the girls. "Hello Ladies." he said, happily.

Sarie waved at the new comer. "You a first year? I'm Sarie nice to meet you." She remembered what is like it was like to be a first year, but he didn't seem to have the fear she had had. "Whats your name?"
She looked at the door was any one else going to come. It was going to be a small class.

Ashlynd smiled at the older girls. "Ashlynd Belmont." he said, shaking their hands. He had often seen older gentlemen shaking one another's hands. In mimicking them, it had become a habit. Ash didn't really get why one would shaken another's hand. Just a passing of germs, but Ash didn't really care about germs, it was just something his mother would say.
"Looks like a small class." Ash said, peaking out the door to see if there was anyone hanging around in the halls. However, he could see no one. "Are classes always this small? Or is it just History of Magic?" Ashlynd asked innocently, lowering his voice so not to offend the Professor. She seemed nice enough, it wasn't her fault her subject seemed to be a dud.

"I don't know." She shrugged. "nice to meet you." She smiled. She liked the first year. "Sit here. Quick before its taken." She laughed.

So far only three students had shown up for class. She looked at her watch and it was almost time to start. It was disappointing to say the least. One of the younger students even went to check in the hall and apparently there was no one coming. She started to think that agreeing to teach this class was a mistake. Perhaps remaining Keeper of the Keys was better. Sighing she looked up. She wasn't even sure if her lesson would go over well. She had wanted more older students to help her answer some of the questions she had prepared.
Sitting back in her chair she decided she'd give everyone else a few more minutes, if no one else showed up she may just let the others go. What was the point of teaching only three students? Her mood went downhill though she didn't let it show. Answering the other boy though she said.
'Typically classes have a bit more students. I'm just hoping that people are running a bit late. No worries though keep on talking amongst yourselves for a bit longer.'

This wasn't the way Professor had planned it. Sarie was ready to learn and so maybe where the other two. She didn't hoped that the Professor would carry out the class any way. Even with three students at least she didn't have to worry about any one slipping though the cracks as happened alot with bigger classes.

There was nothing like running late for your first lesson of the year with a new teacher, and that was just what Richard was doing. He had spent all night trying to finish off a potion assignment that he had overslept and had to dash to try and get the last dregs of cold tea and toast crumbs before running back up the corridors towards the classrooms.
Pushing open the door, chest heaving and a stitch in his side from cramming the food down his neck Richard carefully entered the classroom looking around for people he knew. He noticed Girty from around and about, Sarie he had also seen once or twice but the male Gryffindor he did not know. Finally Rich turned to face the professor and with a deep breath managed to string together a selection of words that could make a sentence.
“I….I am sorry for my late and rude entrance.”
If the one thing his father had taught him were manors and what ever situation it was and who ever you were talking to manors was vital, particularly to the person who will be marking your word for the next year.

Allison stumbled into the door with a thump. "What the-?" Her eyes snapped open and she put a hand to her forehead which was now red and sore. She had been trying to practice being blind(just in case, you know) when she had slamed into the History of Magic door. With a shake of her head Allison pulled open the door and walked inside, looking around curiously.
There were four other students. Two little Gryffindors, one Ravenclaw, and a fellow Hufflepuff she dimly recalled to be Girty Hubbles. Alli made her way over to the group of students. Placing her books on a desk and dropping into a seat next to a first(or was it second?) year Gryffindor. "Hello my fellow friends of funness. How are you all doing on this wonderfull, wonderous, wickedly awesome day?"

A couple more students showed up. Vicky couldn't say that she was thrilled with the turnout maybe she was hoping for too much. Again she thought of just letting them all go, but then that would be quitting wouldn't it and Vicky wasn't a quitter. This would do just fine they signed up for the class after all and they were here to learn what kind of professor would she be if she denied them that. She was being sensitive and there was no room for that now. Teaching was the one thing she always wanted to do and now she had the chance there was no time to waste it being petty because her class wasn't the most popular.
Getting up she moved around her desk and leaned against it crossing one leg over the other. She looked at the students sitting there in front of her eager to learn. Her mood lightened and she smiled at each and every one of them. 'I guess we will go ahead and get started hopefully we will get some more students but...Well anyway I thought it would be fun to start a discussion about the history of the use of magic. Now I'd like to start off by seeing what anyone in here knows about muggle magic. What are some of the names used to describe it?'

Elizabeth had been floating around unnoticed, well invisible rather, near the front of the room and had decided to have a little fun. "Well," she piped up suddenly, still invisible, "Muggles often use illusions, such as sawing someone in half, or pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Also card tricks are very popular amongst Muggles." she giggled quietly wondering how long it would take for Professor Potter and the students to figure out that the mischievous little ghost was in their midst.

"Oh." Ashlynd said in return and his eyes immediately were drawn to the door as an older Ravenclaw popped in. Nodding to him courteously as he sat down, Ashlynd turned back to the front and got out some parchment and a quill, plenty of ink with it of course. If Ashlynd had heard anything else beside the fact that History was boring, it was that a lot of notes were expected. He smoothed out the rolled up parchment and placed his ink well on the corner to keep it down. He was ready for the words to fly.
By the time her looked back around the room a Hufflepuff had joined them. Ashlynd smiled as she over enthusiastically greeted them. Under his breath he muttered, "Someone had their morning coffee." and smiled again to himself.
The lesson had begun. Ashlynd had attended a muggle magic show once. It had been in a square during a festival in Ireland. His mother had taken him to a shop, a muggle shop, and she didn't realize it was a festival day. Raising his hand he remembered a few things about the show. "I've seen a muggle magic float in the air, and make milk disappear into newspaper. It was easy stuff like that." He said with a triumphant look.
