Post by Prof Brianna O'Donnell on Feb 24, 2008 9:29:38 GMT
Professor Brianna O'Donnell had left a note on the door of her classroom in the castle for those who did not attend the previous class saying:
Greetings. Today's lesson will be down by the Lake. Kindly make your way there after putting your homework assignment on the table below. Thank you. See you at the Lake. Prof O'Donnell The door to the classroom that the note was pined to was locked and to the right of the door and against the wall was a small round coffee table with a paperweight on it in the shape of a large claw holding a stone.
Meanwhile, Bree was standing by the Lake, her hands behind her back and her face towards the water. There was no creature by her, none that any could see at any rate. Bree was waiting for the class before bringing the creature out. She had a pair of dark green Wellington's on and her long, dark brown leather coat on to protect against the nippy wind that was blowing hard from the water.
((feel free to talk amongst yourselves until I indicate that the class has begun. Late comers will be punished.))

Ellie slumped to Care of Magical Creatures. She actually slumped. It wasn't like the Hufflepuff to be totally pessimistic about something, but after all, it was Care of Magical Creatures. Something horrible was bound to happen. She could feel it. When Ellie got a feeling, it was never good.
Hunched over, wishing something would pull her back to the Hufflepuff common room, Ellie finally reached the class room door. She lifted her head to read the sign posted upon it. Outside! Outside Ellie had no cover from harm, and she was very far away from the Hospital Wing. However, she remembered Professor O'Donnell mentioning it before and Ellie, who was exempt from that classes homework for naming a cat that Ellie was pretty sure wanted to kill her, turned and marched out of the castle.
Ellie reached the lake and realized that she was the first person there. She sighed, hating to be wide open for attack with no other students to pick from. A swift wind blew across her face and from her bag she pulled out her heavy cloak. She knew there was a reason she had packed it this morning.
She continued to walk down to the lake where the lone Professor was standing. She was facing the lake. Ellie expected the giant squid to rise up and grab her, pulling her in the lake with him. She shuddered. "Ok, old girl. It ok." she said to herself. She reached the bank and looked around, Professor O'Donnell kept her back to her, and Ellie managed to say. "Hi Professor, g-great day isn't it? Hows Charleston?" She managed to stutter out the great, considering no day with Care of Magical Creatures could be great.

Felicity skipped down the hallway to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. This was one of her favorite classes of the day. Plus, she loved the teacher, so that was a definite plus.
Fay stopped before the door and blinked at the sign. Outside? Oh this was going to be so awesome! She slipped her paper under the weight and turned back around. Felicity probably would've ran to her class if not for the extreme sense that she was probably going to fall flat on her face if she tried.
She inhaled a large gust of air as she walked outside. Mm, nice. Her gaze quickly moved to the lake, where she noticed her teacher standing. Someone else was already there as well. Felicity shrugged and made her way over there.
Once she noticed who was there, Fay walked over to Ellie and rested her chin on her shoulder. "Hey there El." She looked over to the Professor. "And Good day to you Professor!"

Bradyn heading towards the classroom, rather excited for the first CoMC lesson of the new year. If he was lucky, El would be there too, and if he was even luckier it wouldn't be some highly dangerous creature that would have her for lunch. 'Ah, what a perfect lesson that would be.' He already knew Fay'd be there, since she was prattling on all through breakfast about how she could finally got to Care of Magical Creatures lesson, and that she'd smack him if he made any comments against her vegetarianism.
As if he could resist a teasing opportunity. Seeing the sign on the door, he dropped off the assignment and hurried down to the lake in hopes that he wouldn't be late. To his shock, Bray was the third to arrive. Walking up to the girls that were already there, he smiled at them. "Hey beast, and El."
Then he turned to see O'Donnell staring rather fixedly at the lake and raised a brow at her. "Good morning, professor. Perfect morning for a creature encounter, isn't it?"

Erys read the sign from a fair ways away, thanking her acute senses while drawing closer to the door. Removing her beautifully written assignment from her bag, the Slytherin placed it on the table, glancing quickly over the elegant writing as if trying to notice a mistake. Finding none, quite satisfied with herself, she slung her bag back over her shoulder, turning on her heel and starting to run. It was much cooler to watch if you saw an animagus change into animal form mid-jump, which was exactly what she did, darting down the hallway as a larger-than-normal bengal cat.
Making it down there to hear Braydin's last words, the Slytherin cat rolled her eyes, snickering to herself as she changed back, "Suck up." She remarked under her breath to him, nudging him with a grin. Had they not previously met that time on the lawns, she might not've treated him so chummy-like. But she supposed they were friends, sort of, so it was all good. Glancing around then to survey the few assembled students, Erys found herself surprised to be there early. Just like old times. Now where were her Slytherins?
"Morning professor." She quickly greeted her, after nearly forgetting.

After depositing her assignment with the stack of others, Dahlia made her way down to the lake, joining Erys there, "Hi." She greeted, forcing her voice to sound something more than just a whisper. If she was trying to appease her, she'd have to act like a Slytherin. Seeing as she was one, it shouldn't be that hard, but.. She didn't want to be. She should be in Gryffindor, like all her family before her. Thinking about her family sent a pang of hurt throughout her body, as she remembered them all but throwing her out after she landed in Slytherin. They were convinced she was evil, when she knew she wasn't. The stupid hat said something about her future being dark..
As if she didn't have enough problems. "Hello professor." She murmured afterwards, "What are we doing today?" Linking her fingers together, she flipped her hand over, cracking them to get the kinks out. Time to have some fun learning about.. Whatever they were going to learn about.

Alice had been up most of the night worrying about her assignment; she had rewritten in three times and was starting to believe that her first one was the better of them all. So as the Hufflepuff stood in front of the table where all the other students had placed theirs Alice could not make up her mind so thought the professor could and placed all thee upon the desk before running off towards the lake.
There was a strong breeze blowing across the lake and Alice pulled her scarf out of her bag and wrapping it tightly around herself before running down the green banks to the waterside where everyone else seemed to have gathered. As she approached them all she noticed that the Professor was not paying much attention to them so Alice stood slightly away from the rest and waited till someone she knew showed up.

Ellie felt someone on her shoulder, and turned her head to see Fay. "Hey there." she said, not at all surprised the Ravenclaw had found Ellie's shoulder to rest her chin. "It's a horrible day." Ellie said quietly so the Professor wouldn't here. See smiled. "I'm mostly likely going to be eaten today." Ellie said as a matter of factly. Ellie spotted Bradyn coming down for the castle. She smiled, but caught herself, knowing Fay was probably looking at her. "Ask him, he'll tell you." Ellie said indicating Bray.
Bray knew how she hated animals or rather how animals seemed to hate her. She was surprised to find that he seemed to like her, even as a friend, because he was an animagus. However, Ellie was sure when he was in his animal form he probably would decide that he hated her and take a swipe at her before never talking to her again. Ellie made a mental note never to see Bray in his animal form.
"Beast? She's not a beast." Ellie said with a smile, patting Fay on the head. "She hasn't bitten me yet." She said with a smile. "Perfect morning." Ellie said sarcastically under her breath beaming towards Bray. Why was everyone so excited to have this class. Stood in her little group watching as Slytherins cane slipping down the hill. She didn't personally know either one of them, but one of them made a remark to Bray. Ellie wrinkled her nose and gave her a look. Ugh, what she would do to the girl if she had the guts.
A small Hufflepuff came down to the lake too, but stood away. She was a first year no doubt, and she felt sorry that she was out numbered by upperclassman. Ellie gave her a reassuring smile.
"So, Professor. How am I going to die today?" She asked, trying to fake a smile. It was Ellie's way of asking what the lesson was.

Felicity grinned at Ellie from her spot on her shoulder. "Awww, why you getting eaten? That's now very nice." Her lower lip drew out into a pout.
Fay turned back around to look at Bray. She grinned wickedly at him then held her hand over her mouth in a gasp. "Me, beastly? Why, wherever did you find that little piece of information Bradyn Reed?" Fay rolled her eyes at him and grinned at Ellie. "I'm beastly. Roar."
She glanced over to the Slytherins coming down. Erys Fay recognized, but the other one she didn't. Oh well. Her gaze turned to the little Hufflepuff who came down. Awww, she was so cute.
"Don't worry El, we won't let anything get ya."

Ash wandered towards the lake to CoMC. First class. Whoopee. "Hey Bray, hey Fay." He greeted his friends and plopped down on the grass beside them.

Bradyn rolled his eyes at Erys. "Old hag." He said right back at her while sticking his tongue out. If he was going to attempt to insult her, he'd have to go extra mean. Smiling back at El and shook his head. "No, no, she's a beast." After he said this, he laughed and did little air claws back at Fay.
Then he laughed a bit, apparently El was explaining her irrational fear of animals to Fay. "Hopefully whatever it is we're dealing with today won't grab you and drag you down into the lake." He rolled his eyes a bit. "We'd save you before that, of course."
Bray smirked down at Ash and sat down next to him, since standing obviously wasn't good enough. "Hey." He said and patted the spot next to him for Fay, or preferably El, to sit down.

"Its inevitable." Ellie said shortly, answering Fay's question. She knew that someday she would be eaten. It was how Ellie pictured she would die. She had a feeling today would be the day.
Ellie laughed at Fay and Bradyn. She had no doubt that the pair would fight the monster that got her tooth and nail. Ellie wondered if she was really worth it, but she wasn't about to say anything. She wanted to live!
Another Ravenclaw boy came down to the lake. She hadn't met him before, but he seemed to be friends of Fay and Bray. A friend of theirs was a friend of hers. She smiled at him as he sat down. Bray joined him and patted the ground next to him. Before Fay had a chance to sit down, Ellie grabbed the spot next to Bray. She blushed as she sat down fast. Well, that was obvious she said to herself, wishing she could kick herself, but that would be obvious too.
"Hi." She said to the boy, "I don't think we've met. I'm Ellie Rook." She siled at him, choosing not to extend her hand over Bray.

The air that blew from the lake was fresh and invigorating. It gave Bree the desire to play Quidditch instead of having this particular lesson but she knew the risks she was taking by even having the creature they were going to discuss at the school. She had face three before deciding to teach and all three times the knowledge she had gained from the lesson she had received on it had saved her life. No exaggeration. So staying where she was and fighting the urge to play, Bree bounced on the balls of her feet and smiled.
She heard a rather nervous voice and turned to see it was Ellie Rook. "Hello Rook," Prof O'Donnell chimed happily. "It is a wonderful day..." Just before she could answer about Charleston a Ravenclaw joined them with a big smile on her face. "And a very good day to you too, Locke. Ah Reed!" She greeted him with a simple smile at his comment. It was indeed a fine day for their task that morning, more so then he would realise for a bit at any rate.
A Slytherin joined them Bree noticed her sore expression when she looked at Reed. "I note you do not think it is a good morning, Grace," Bree pointed out with a wry smile. Bree gave the girl who came next a wide grin. "A-ha!" she exclaimed, "there's the million gallon question." Bree straightened and looked at all the students around her knowingly. "You shall all find out soon enough."
The older Hufflepuff in the group gathered thus far showed a clear disdain for this class. It was not a hard one to figure out. Bree frowned and shook her head, crossing her arms across her chest. "A grim outlook to have," she said, "and to start a class with such thoughts? Never a good way, I tell ya." Bree didn't mind so much that Ellie didn't like the class. It gave the group a variety. Bree patted Ellie's shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile.
Bradyn's comment about the creature dragging her off into the lake was so amusing to Bree that she turned away from the group so she could chuckled quietly as she could into her sleeve. The students continued to talk, a definite group forming in those gathered. Bree would give more people another moment before doing her big reveal.

Post by Marcus Conway on Feb 27, 2008 12:00:55 GMT
Marcus was walking down to the Lake when he thought about the homework he had done for the class. It hadn't taken him too long and he had tried to make his handwriting as neat as possible. He tried his hardest to make it easy for the teachers to mark, not just in Care of Magical Creatures but in every class for every teacher. It would mean that the teacher would see how hard he worked and they would be a littler nicer when they did. This was the plan, whether it worked or not he didn't know for sure.
When the lake came up, Marcus felt the nip of the wind and pushed his glasses higher up his nose. He didn't like the cold and he crossed his arms tightly across his chest. There was already a small group of people there and to his surprise Alice was there as well. Walking around the group to here Alice was standing, Marcus said in his usual small voice, "Hello Alice. Windy day, isn't it? I hope we don't get blown away."
