It was a rather nice day outside; the snow covered the grounds like a fluffy white blanket and the sun was shining bright. Deciding that this was a perfect day to miss class, Briar scooped up her ice skates and headed for the lake. It didn't take her long to dogde the professors and find her way out of the large crowds of students, but then again, it wouldn't for Bry.
Once she reached the lake, she took a breath of fresh air and took a seat on a large boulder that sat just feet from the shore. Within minutes, she had her skates on and was already nearing the center of the lake. Once alone she skated around, feeling the sensation of being free. For a moment, she was free from the world, free from her sisters, her parents, the school and thats all Briar wanted.
Lately she had been feeling like an outcast. She was pretty much the only one of her friends and even family that didn't have a special 'gift' and she hated herself for that. She felt boring, hence her crazy and random personality.
Briar spun around in circles for a while, feeling the cold on her cheeks and nose. She wondered how long she'd be alone out here. Briar knew someone wouldn't want to miss this perfect wintery day, she just didn't know who.

Nikole trudged across the snow covered ground. She had never before skipped a class, but on this particular day, she knew what they were covering in the lesson and there were better things she could be studying. After all, why should she waste her time in a class, learning what she already knew, when she could study on her own and learn new and more useful things? As she reached the lake she saw a girl skating around on it. What a waste of time. Skipping class to ice skate; that was not at all productive.
Selecting a patch of ground near the lake shore, she pushed some of the snow aside and sat down, immediately feeling the wet from the snow start through her class robes. She sighed slightly. It wasn't pleasant for her, but she couldn't stand to stay inside the castle while skipping her class; she would have been tempted to go to class and waste her time. She readjusted her scarf and then looked down at the book in her hands. With another quick glance and shake of her head at the ice skating girl, Nikole began to study.

Ashton pulled his midnight- blue velvet cloak around his shoulders, and quickly slipped past the professors and other students to go outside. He knew he should be in class, but the stark beauty of the world outside the castle walls was too much to resist.
Stepping outside, Ashton looked around him in awe, soft white snow covered the ground, icicles hung from tree branches and the castle itself seemed to have a glaze of ice over it. Looking out at the lake, he smiled. It was perfect for skating the ice on it's surface caught the light of the sun, making it sparkle like thousands, no millions of diamonds.
Ash made his way down the snowy path towards the lake, upon reaching it he saw two girls, a Ravenclaw, who was sitting there studying, and a Hufflepuff who was out on the lake skating. Waving to the two girls, Ash sat down and slipped on his black skates. Standing up, Ash glided across the ice. Smiling at the Hufflepuff, he skated towards her, "Hi. I'm Ashton. Ashton McLane."

Briar looked towards the edge of the lake and saw a Ravenclaw girl studying, "Go figure, reminds me of Ari," she said as she stopped for a moment. "Who in their right mind would study on a day like this?" she asked herself. Before she dwelled on it too long, she began skating again. She didn't need homework on her mind, she didn't need anything on her mind.
A couple of minutes later, Briar glanced to her left and noticed another Ravenclaw skate up to her. She listened as he introduced himself. Apparently his name was Ashton and he looked a little older than her. She placed a hand on her hip and looked at him. "Briar Vanderveer," she shrugged, "Or Bry, whatever you prefer," she added with a smile.
She looked down at his black skates then back up to look him in the eye, "I've never met a guy that actually likes to skate," she said as she started to inch backwards on her ice skates.

Bray sighed a bit; leave it to Bry to skip class on a day with fresh snow. She was probably outside frolicking or something. So of course, that's why Bradyn was outside trying to look for her. Why he followed the girl so much, he had no clue but he really enjoyed spending time with her.
"Is that Ashton?" He thought aloud to himself, spotting a couple other Ravenclaws sitting by the lake. Go figure the 'wisest' house has the most class ditchers. Then he spotted a Hufflepuff, which of course had to be Bry. "Well, if I'd've known there was a party on the ice, I would've brought my skates." He scouted, staying by the edge since he wasn't going to go and fall on the ice like a fool.

Nikole sighed and shook her head as she closed her book. There was no way she could get anything accomplished with all this commotion. Why were so many people not in class, anyway? Looking around she noticed that most of the people were in Ravenclaw. That was rather ironic.
Setting her book down in the snow, Nikole looked out at the two skating on the lake and then at the boy standing at the edge. She stood up and walked down closer to the edge, where the boy was. "Yes, it does appear as if everyone has decided to skip class for a day of fun in the snow, or on the ice would be more accurate, I suppose," she said with a faint smile. It may be a pointless waste of time, but it seemed that the two out on the lake were having quite a bit of fun.

A grin grew on Briar's face when she saw Bradyn. "Be right back," she told Ashton, "or, well, follow me," she said correcting herself. She skated to the edge of the lake to greet the two Ravenclaws. "Wanna join?" she asked the two, "I can conjure up some more skates if you'd like," she said with a smile.
Bry looked at Bradyn and smiled, "I would never expect to see you ditching," she said playfully. She looked at the Ravenclaw girl and laughed, "Oh sorry, my manners have been a little off lately," she said extending a hand, "Briar Vanderveer, but I usually go by Bry," she said with a friendly smile.

Ashton looked towards the bank surprised, as yet another person approached the lake. A Slytherin this time. "Wow, okay what's with everyone skipping class today?" he asked with confusion. Shrugging his shoulders, Ash decided that it was irrelevant and glided gracefully across the smooth surface of the ice. Tilting back his head, Ash let out a laugh of pure joy.

Bradyn grinned and winked at Bry. "I'm just full of surprises?" He said and looked at Ash when he came over. He didn't know Bry and Ash were friends. "Hey."
Bray frowned a bit, he couldn't skate. "Well.. I guess.." He said, knowing he would probably keep falling down and end up looking dumb but skating looked like fun.

Bry laughed as she saw the fear on his face, "Don't worry, we all fall. It's how you get better," she said pulling her wand out and conjuring a pair of skates for Bray. She picked them up and held them out for him, "I promise I'll catch you if you fall," she said with a wink.
She looked over at Ashton, "This is Ashton, if you haven't already met. Probably one of the only guys that I have met that likes ice skating," she said with a shrug. She grabbed Bradyn's hand and tried to pull him out onto the ice, with or without the skates on, "If you fall, you take me down with you," she said with a reassuring smile, hoping it'd make him feel better.

Nikole shook the girl's hand with a nod. "It's nice to meet you, Briar. I'm Nikole." She looked at the boys that were there. They were both in her house, but she couldn't think of their names. She shrugged slightly and looked out at the ice.
The boy standing on the edge of the lake, agreed to join in the ice skating, though he didn't seem too thrilled about it. Nikole bit her lower lip and shook her head slightly. She had never been one for sports of any kind and knew if she went out there she would manage to injure herself someway.
"I'm not exactly coordinated enough to be ice skating," she said shaking her head slightly. "I'll be fine, here on the nice solid, not slippery ground," she said with a nod. Embarrassing herself wasnt on her list of things to accomplish for the day anyway.

Briar smiled at the girl, "Well, Nikole, if you do decide that you'd like to join, lemme know," she said with a shrug, "But you gotta know, falling's half the fun!" she said with a laugh.
Bry tugged, once agian, at Bradyn's arm in attempt to pull him onto the ice.
((sorry this post is short... but i just wanted to say something to Nikole!))

Bradyn grunted and grabbed the skates and quickly slipped them one but when he was going to bend down to tie them he was starting to be dragged onto the ice. "Oh-ho. Hold on, I'd rather not fall because I tripped on my shoelaces.." He grumbled and tied them quickly with his wand because he was too lazy to do them by hand.
He looked back at Nikole, since apparently that was her name, and smiled. "Oh come on! I can't skate either yet I'm gonna go and make some face plants on the ice." He said, trying to convince her to come out and skate too--mostly so he wouldn't be the only one that couldn't skate.

Shaking his head in amusement at the antics going on around him, Ash glided across the ice towards the center of the lake. After doing a few figure eights, he flew up into a triple lutz, laughing as he landed perfectly on the frozen lake.

Maria looked from the two in front of her and then out at Ashton skating beautifully on the ice. She watched him skate skeptically. If she tried that she would do horribly, but it did look fun. She had been told before that Ravenclaws never had any fun and had argued. She was torn about whether or not to attempt this rather difficult looking feat.
"Umm...Briar," Nikole said hesitantly. "I think I may want to try and skate. That is if you wouldn't mind conjuring me up a pair of ice skates as well." With each word Nikole's voice became more sure as she became more comfortable with the thought of going out and sliding on a big slab of ice with blades on her feet.
