Karis and Noel had raided the kitchens to have a picnic out on the courtyard. Karis sort the favouritism from her favourite house elf, who proceeded to make them up a nice picnic basket full of freshly made food. With thanks, they both made their way to the courtyard post haste before the weather turned ugly once more.
Linking arms all the way, Karis couldn't help but give a cheesy grin all the way, and the odd glance over to Noel. She had found a friend in someone who she should of befriended years ago, and now it seemed they had never not been friends. It was a good feeling.
"I wonder what the house elves have stuck in there for us?" she asked, trying to peek into the basket full of goodies. Knowing the house elves, it would be amazingly good stuff.

Stopping off at the common room, Noel dropped off Karis's books, and off they went. The two had raided the kitchens, and left with what seemed to be a very good picnic on there hands, judging by the weight. With their arms still linked, the two went off to the Courtyard, praying for the good weather to stay.
Noel, himself, had to admit he liked Karis. More then a friend, to say the least. Even though they just 'met' a little over an hour ago, he couldn't help but be attracted to the other Hufflepuff. Anyone who passed the link-arms, picnic basket carrying two, would assume they were good friends. But for gossip reasons, they would think they were a couple.
Several times, Noel thought of asking Karis out. But, he considered it to be too awkward to ask her, on a account of they had just 'met'. "Love at first site..." He mumbled to himself, chuckling. When they had stopped, Noel used a spell his father had showed him over the summer, and conjured a blanket, laying it out on the somewhat wet ground. He glanced up at the sky, only to find the sun, and a couple of grey clouds. "Let's hope it stays this nice." He commented.
Seeing Karis try to look into the basket, Noel sat down on the blanket, waiting to see what the elves had packed. Another growl from his stomach made him laugh. "I guess my stomach can't wait to see either."

Karis heard Noel mumble something to himself once they had started the journey to courtyard once again, but dismissed it, as if he wanted her to hear, he would of repeated it or spoken louder. Karis was not one to be nosey.
Conjuring up a rather comfy looking blanket and laying it down, Karis couldn't help but give Noel a huge grin, making her probably look like an insane fool. "See, I could never do that darn spell. I can't pronouce it right" she admitted. Being welsh, she had a bit of a funny accent and had to concentrate hard for the words to come out right. That spell, was one of many that she wasn't able to complete.
Sitting herself down on the blanket, the grin still spread across her face. Someone could come and slap her, but she'd still be grinning. She wasn't sure why she was still grinning, because nothing was particularly funny at that moment in time...Until the rumble of the depths of Noel's stomach changed that. Giving a laugh, she nodded.
"Mine too" she said, as she clutched her stomach, hers seemed to be replying to Noel's frustration at lack of food. "They're talking to each other" she giggled.

Noel laughed at Karis's grin. It was large, happy, and excited, he could tell. "You'll get it some day. You just got to keep trying." He encouraged, grinning as well. The spell wasn't to hard, but judging by her accent, it was probably hard to pronounce. Many spells were odd like that. It took time and practice to memorize them, and then pronounce them right. Why did they have to be so hard? Couldn't they be something like 'Fire!' or 'Blanket!'? They could, but the wizarding world preferred everything to be harder.
Noel smiled as Karis sat down on the blanket as well. Once again, he looked up at the sky, watching as a couple more grey clouds rolled in. He frowned slightly, before looking back at Karis. "I hope they're just passing by." He said, pointing to the oncoming clouds, before laughing at her comment about their stomachs talking. "What do you think they're saying?" He asked in a whisper, snickering.

"I'll keep trying, I'm sure i'll be able to do it when i'm in need of a blanket" she smiled. Almost if she had read his mind, she pretty much had the same ideas as Noel about simpler spells. "They should just say the word for the object you want, like 'Bring shoes' or 'Start fire'" she laughed. If only magic was that easy.
Looking at Noel as he watched the Sky once more, she joined him in the observing. Noticing too the oncoming darkened clouds. Letting out a little giggle, she lowered her head. "It would be funny if we got caught in the rain" she grinned.
It was then that he mentioned about wondering what they're stomachs were saying to eat other. Karis couldn't help but give yet another howling laugh. She pushed her stomach out, or what there was of it, and pinched it at either side to make a small flap of skin, she put on a growling voice and began to make it speak.
"Hungry, eat....Noel....belly!!" she said in a gruff simpleton voice before making a chewing noise.

Noel laughed as Karis basically said what he was thinking. "I was just thinking about that!" He said, grinning. "Great minds, think alike I guess!" He found it ironic how she had said this, and at first thought she was reading his mind. But thought against it, because he didn't believe it was possible. Even in the wizarding world.
"Yes it would." He agreed, grinning and thinking of them running, yet slipping in the mud, as they tried to get back to the school. Noel laughed at the thought of it. Deciding to get more comfortable, he twisted and turned until he was on side, propping his head up on his arm, as his elbow rested on the blanket.
He burst into laughter as Karis began making her stomach talk. Taking his head off his hand, he placed his face into the blanket, muffling the sound of his laughter. When he calmed down a bit, he turned on his back, and did the same with his own stomach. "Me hungry! Food!" He mimicked, laughing again.

"Great minds indeed, we're too alike you and me, it's quite scary" she admitted, but she was grinning, suggesting she liked the closeness and the alikeness. Opening the basket, she began to take a few things out to see what there was.
When Noel buried his face into the blanket, Karis leant over laughing and carried on talking in the rough voice she had put on, Continuing her belly movements also.
"Eat...Noel" she repeated inbetween giggles as she pushed her belly closer to him as if her belly was infact about to eat him. "Hufflepuff taste gooood" she added. She soon gave up and rolled onto her back laughing.

Noel grinned, and nodded. "Indeed. We could be-" He added an over dramatic gasp here "-soul mates!" Of course he was joking, he personally didn't think there was such thing as soul mates, but he gave a glance at Karis to see her reaction. Watching as she pulled out some of the food from the basket, his eyes widened at the sight of a bright red apple. Grabbing it, he took a chomp out of it, and grinned. "My favorite!" He said, after he finished swallowing the chunk of apple he'd eaten.
Seeing Karis continue her stomach-talking, Noel grinned at an idea. Sitting him, he stretched out his arms, and began tickling her. Most girls were ticklish, so he was praying she was, otherwise it would be awkward. "Beware the Tickle Monster!" He shouted, grinning. It was a common Noel thing to do; he often attacked his young sister when she was acting weird, or in a slump with a tickle.

Karis gave a girlish chuckle when Noel overdramatised the words ‘soul mates’. She couldn’t help but think he was probably right, but not in the way Soul mates were portrayed in movies and such like. Soul mates could mean anything, from one extreme to the other.
“Duh duh dun!!” she added, mimicking his dramatic behaviour. She had never laughed so hard before with someone but Noel. He was so funny, even if he didn’t intend to be. Watching Noel spy some food he got excited over, she watched him bite into a delicious looking apple. Peering into the basket, it seemed like the elves had put the room of requirement into the basket, as she soon pulled out her favourite.
“ORANGE” She couldn’t help but yelp it. Quickly peeling off the skin. Noel soon gave a face which meant he was up to no good, and soon the face was accompanied by his hands and the words ‘Beware the Tickle Monster’. Karis howled with laughter at just the thought of being tickled, and attempted to sit up, but he managed to begin tickling her, and she fell backwards into his lap.

Again, another burst of laughter left Noel. He was sure his gut would burst. Why was he laughing so much? He couldn't help it. It was probably a mixture of Karis being funny, and just being the guy he was. When he finally calmed down, she made him laugh again. "M-merlin!" He gasped, between laughter and breaths. Sitting up straight, he held his gut, laughing harder.
A large grin played on Noel's face when she tried escaping. "There is not escaping the wrath of the Tickle Monster!" He shouted, laughing again. The grin on his face, was big, and goofy looking. But Karis was making him feel like a big goof, just being around her.
When she fell on his lap, he paused, a bit confused. Without really thinking about it, he wrapped his arms around her. Before he realized what he'd done, he'd done it. It just sort of, clicked. He didn't have time to react, or even think about it. He just sort of, wrapped his arms around her, and that was it. It was like a hug, he guessed. Of course, now that he had her locked in the hug, he wasn't going to let go. One, he was embarrassed for doing so. And two, he personally didn't want to.

Wriggling around like a worm on a hook, Karis' jaw hurt from laughing and grinning so much. The day that started off to a bad start, was turning out one of the best days of her life.
"Stop, stop!" she pleaded, but he carried on, and she quite liked being tickled by him for some strange reason. Her laughter turned into wheezing as she couldn't catch her breath inbetween laughing and wriggling.
It was then that she felt him stop, and put his arms around her. She stopped, quite shocked, but instantly felt warm in them. She stayed there, not struggling anymore, and brought her arms up to cover his and make his hug tighter. She tilted her head and looked up at him and grinned. She looked into his eyes and couldn't help but smile.

Noel was truly surprised when Karis didn't freak that he was hugging her. That comforted him. He was even more surprised that she had made the embrace stronger. A large, toothy grin formed on his face, as he looked at her. He had to admit this was the best day he had that he remembered.
From the corner of his eye, he could see patches of the sun appearing, and disappearing. A quick glance at the sky would tell Noel that grey clouds were rolling over the sun. Yes, there was a possibility that it would rain now, but he could careless.
Looking back at Karis, he could see her grinning up at him, making him grin again. Without much thought, once again, he closed his eyes, and kissed her. Right, smack dab on the lips. Opening his eyes in shock at what he just did, he pulled up, and turned red. Why was he doing these spontaneous things? Noel had always kept in line, trying not to harm others' feelings. But here he was, most likely making a fool of himself. If anything, it would be Karis who made him feel like this.
(crummy, but I realized I hadn't posted yet!)

Karis just sat there in Noel's arms and smiled. It probably looked like they were more than friends, especially since Karis made the embrace tighter. It was cold out in the courtyard, and the sky showed signs of rain again, but she felt warm in his arms. She felt happy.
She wasn't quite sure how this day had come about, as just a few hours before, she had been having a clumsy day and it was going pretty bad. She still wondered why she had never really spoken to Noel before, it seemed like such a waste of years now somehow...
Just as that thought had passed, she opened her lips to say something and at that exact moment, Noel had put his lips against hers. A little shock ran through her, and she jumped a little. Realising what was happening, she didn't have time to kiss back as Noel had already pulled away. A little disappointed, but confused, she looked up at him, before turning around and frowning. A moment's silence passed before she spoke.
"What's the matter?" the question rolled out of her mouth with ease. Did he change his mind about her? It would be typical if he had, Karis was nothing special, and no boy had ever been interested in her. She was a plain jane, pure and simple. She always settled for being the friend. The only thing that bothered her was she realised she liked Noel a lot, and that he was the first boy she had liked.

Noel could feel her jump a little when he had spontaneously kissed her, which made him worry he had come on to strong. These little spurts kept coming, and really had no control of them. Though, he was surprised when she had asked what was wrong. What should he say? 'Sorry I kissed you, I was afraid you'd freak out and smack me.'? Like that was going to happen.
Several times he opened his mouth to say something, but words never formed. "I-.. Er-.. I didn't-.." Was what had come out basically every time. Sighing, he hugged her tightly again, and rested his head on her shoulder, as if that would say what was on his mind. Of course, by now, the two would look like a cute Hufflepuff couple, enjoying the weather, before down pours of rain would come.
"I guess, I didn't want to.. offend you?" He said, lifting his head now.
(why can't i think any more?!)

By now Karis was beginning to wonder what was going wrong. If only he had waited a second more she would of kissed him back, but he had pulled away before she realised what was going on.
Sighing, she turned around again and felt Noel rest his head on her shoulder and hug her once again. Karis couldn't help but smile at his cute gesture, and once again pulled his arms around her tighter. She snuggled her head next to his and rested her head on his cheek.
"Offend me? Why would it offend me?" she asked. Now all she wanted was for him to kiss her again, but Karis was too shy to do it herself. If he was going to kiss her again, she'd be ready, and this time she wouldn't jump.
Karis looked up to the sky and it began to rain. Smiling, she gave a small chuckle. "Well that's ruined our picnic plans!" she said, signalling up to the sky. Standing up she turned around to look at Noel.
