Another morning where all the students were catching Z's in their beds and Jax was up and about as though the cold air didnt phase him. Though judging on the fact he was cuddling himself as he walked over the lawns you could clearly tell the bite of the morning air was colder than Jax originally thought.
He had taken the long route to get to the coutyard. He had gone out the side exit to the lawns and up the sloping path. Which of course he was walking slowly due to the wind and the uphill heave of things. Tripping over his own foot once or twice like the clutzy little, well not so little, idiot he was. Jax had never been noted for his sensibility nor his sense of balance, when it came to things like that, he was rubbish. If there was ever an exam for sensibility or balance, Jax would fail it before he even opened his mouth.
Though you didnt need to be sensible or have a good sense of balance to be a Ravenclaw, or in his case, Ex-Claw considering he left school last year techically. Though he was back as an apprentice so it was all groovy. He yawned rather widely and in an elongated fashion. Careful, ever heard the saying, yawn without covering your mouth you'll let the devil in? So that thought had come randomly like many others. Shoot him then.
There was an orangy glow on the horizon as the sun made its way slowly up over it. Making the lake look like it was on fire and it was spreading quite quickly. He was getting sidetracked, he wanted to get to the courtyard, find his favourite bench and spawl out on it staring upto the sky. Simple request yes? Though he should have brought a blanket.
The next minute he was walking on the stone surface, his shoes casuing a low echo due to the place being empty. Finding his bench, one that gave him a decent view of the lake he lay down on it with his arms behind his head, and his head tilted so he could see the lake. Without realising it, Jax's eyes began to close almost as though he was falling asleep, completley oblivious to everything else around him.

Mayella yawned in a rather unladylike way and stretched her arms far out in front of her before continuing down one of the desolate corridors that their Headmaster was convinced students would hide out in during the night vandalizing the school.. well, of course they would, but why should the staff have to suffer because of what a bunch of stupid teenagers do? Everyone was that age once before, and stupid just seems to run through their veins naturally. Tugging at her coat where it wadded up from her arm motions, she grumbled some more to herself about the pointlessness of the night prowls. Shouldn't the ministry be doing dog work like that? Wait, she was in the ministry, scratch that!
Hurrying along as the first beams of lights started to show in patches down the corridor, May finally dared to pulled out her wand and light it. Some of the paintings could be quite nasty -- although she enjoyed taunting them and leaving them just to shout their insults into an empty corridor -- but she always hated how much attention it would draw from other people making their rounds and eventually she'd get caught. 'So troublesome.' She thought but shrugged lightly only to be quickly distracted by the light filtering from the open courtyard. Perhaps she could persuade herself, and lord knows it'd be insanity if she couldn't, to stay and enjoy some of the autumn weather a big longer?
Not even pausing midstep, May quickly walked towards it only to be hit with a wave of nostalgia from her school years. It was a favorite haunt for their group of giggling Ravenpuff girls, and she smiled at some of the memories of flirting with many of the boys who passed. Her pleasant reverie was sadly interrupted mid-memory by an obnoxious snore. "What the?" She said aloud with shock and looked for the source. Some dude, presumably a student, was just lounging on a bench as if he owned it. How very rude. Clearing her throat loudly, May stomped over to him. "You know, there's an invention called a bed where most people sleep why don't you--" But her scolding was quickly cut off as she recognized him not to be a student, but one of the apprentice teachers. Another mortifying embarrassing experience to write about in her journal, oh wonderful. "Or... not."

His dreams were always wild and strange. Something that couldnt be helped as you couldnt exactly dream of what you want to dream about. Though he heard somewhere that dreams did sometimes show you what you wanted somewhere deep down inside yourself. Now what kind of twisted logic was that? Jax hadnt meant to fall asleep, in fact he only wanted to close his eyes and think. He didnt even know he snored!
Okay so where was he now? Far away from here, he was on an island somewhere. Not sure which Island, it probably wasnt even real. He was walking through a thick forest, though he could hear the ocean just a little ways off. He supposed he was making his way towards it. Judging by his outfit, which consisted mainly of what seemed to be strange boxers made up of leaves, he was probably a native of the Island or something like that. There was a soft breeze, and his hair was longer, shoulder length and rather straggly too. Didnt these people believe in brushes? As he got nearer a tree, he heard a very loud and audible crack as one of the Island girls came into view. One might he add, he very much liked. She came upto him whispering something that he didnt quite hear, her hands on his chest. As she stood infront of him she smiled, and pushing on his chest, she pushed him to the floor.
SMACK!
Jax's eyes shot open and he was now fully aware of where he was. Not in the dream world where he wanted to be but instead on a stone floor looking up into the face of Mayella Reed. Rubbing his head it took him a moment to actually focus and realise where he was, and suddenly embarrassment crept over him. He just hoped he wasnt talking in his sleep.
"Dont you know its bad to creep up on people!"
He stood up and brushed himself down, feeling quite foolish to be honest and rather much of an idiot, but what could you do? He picked up his jacket, which he was sure he was wearing when he lay down, which begged the question of how did it come off? He assumed the reason why he found himself on the floor was either probably because he rolled over, or her voice had made him shift and fall, either way it was an embarrassing way for someone to find you.
"I uh... I wasnt... It wasnt... I was just" Jax sighed, "Would you believe me if I told you I wasnt asleep?"

May rolled her eyes at Jack, starting to think that he didn't hear her at all. Which was good, because it did spare her the embarrassment of not being able to tell the different between an older student and a young.. half-teacher. May took a few steps back since she thought it to be rather creepy, and not as fun as it would be if this were a student, for her to be the first thing sleeping beauty saw when he woke up, or in this case fell like an oaf.
Unable to help herself, she laughed a little. "You alright, such a nasty fall, I don't think it's even two feet." She said with a teeny bit of concern mixed in with her usual language of sarcasm.
Though her amusement soon faded at his little response to her waking him up and saving him the embarrassment of having to be rudely woken up by the early-rising first years. "Hmph, is it really sneaking up on someone when their sleeping outside in the open? What if I was checking to make sure that you didn't have a heart attack in the middle of the night and fell like a log onto the bench?" Rolling her eyes at him, she couldn't help but smirk at how silly she was being. But this was a situation that seemed better to be able to laugh it off, rather than take it as the embarrassing moment that it was.
"Well, Mr. Shaw, I might be able to believe you if you could explain what were doing. Meditating, perhaps? Or maybe stargazing, with your eyes closed, in the morning?"

Yes, Jax felt stupid. Like when his mother had found him kissing the girl from the next street on the seasaw in the park. He was seven. So Jax had a history of embarrassing moments, seriously he could write his own encyclopaedia on it. Though still, this was ranking as one of the most embarrassing moment in the eighteen year old's life. He sat back down on the bench and wiped his hand over his face as though trying to wipe off the clear embarrassment from it.
"Well two feet is a rather formiddable foe!" Jackson countered, "They can do some damage those two feeted things." Which was obviously a stupid statement considering more or less everything had at least two feet. "I meant in size... Not actual... You know... Nevermind"
Dimwhitted or stupid or possibly both words could be used in the same sentance as his name right now. Jackson Riley Shaw, the Dimwhitted and Stupid Defence Apprentice. He couldnt help but laugh, it was a rather stupid thing to do, fall asleep on a bench, in a place everyone walks through so no, he figured it couldnt be classed as being sneaked up on. Though still, his arm was rather sore from where he landed on it. Though being a bloke, he wasnt about to tell her that.
"Well I didnt mean to fall asleep!" He stammered as he looked up at her. He felt like a schoolchild being told off by an angry professor, or the humiliation side of it anyway, "I just wanted to relax! But i didnt mean to relax that much and then I was sleeping and then dreaming which is totally becoming a contradiction considering I said I wasnt sleeping so Im going to shut up rambling now because Im acting like a baboon"
Jax was rambling. Anybody with half a brain could see that, he was trying to defend himself and yet he was digging an even bigger hole for himself. It was rather surprising he used to be in Ravenclaw. You would never have guessed it, you would have thought he would be in Hufflepuff or something like that. Though he was brainy, he just lacked common sense.
"Or cloud watching!" Jack put in, "Through closed eyelids-yeah that doesnt really work does it?"

May had to put her hand up and cover her mouth with it to stop herself from laughing her arse off at Jack. "Mm, I'll be sure to watch out for those two-feeted beasts." Giggling a little, she shook her head lightly at him. "You're silly, but I think I got what you meant." Of course she did, and his ranting was just amusing to her.
Smiling when he laughed, hopefully at himself rather than at something she did or said that she didn't notice to be funny or stupid, May laughed and shook her head at him. "Hah! You admitted to it, therefore.. I win?" Well, now it seemed that they were both just being childish and it felt like a long time since she said such immature things without being laughed at. Maybe that's what she gets for hanging around with more young folk than adults lately. "But go ahead and keep rambling, because as long as you don't start looking like a baboon, I don't care if you act like one."
Taking a seat on the bench next to him, and lightly bumping him to he'd know to share it a little more and move his bulk, May smiled. A lot of the male teachers were amusing to her, with their stupid comments that she enjoyed shooting down with witty ones, but since Jack was a fellow Ravenclaw she would be a tad bit nicer than normal. Favoritism? Hell yes. "Oh! Cloud watching! That would've made more sense than stargazing in the morning." She said, not really realizing she said that out loud. It was wittier than her response, but she still laughed at it.
"So, other than sleeping, what were you up to out here?"

"Yeah, You should" Jax spoke softly, rubbing his left arm where he fell quite painfully on, "Those two-feeted beasts are buggers!" Jax laughed, he was used to being dopey and stupid by now. Though he lacked common sense he was still very smart like your typical Ravenclaw. Possibly not as smart as his younger brother Riley though. "You only just realised im silly?"
"We're in competiton now are we Miss Reed?" Jax laughed, he always thought Mayella was strict and no laughing. Thats what he'd heard anyway, he'd never taken her lessons so he wouldnt really know. He supposed he was just putting a label on the tin, and labelling wasnt good. "Okay okay, so you win! I was sleeping! But I didnt mean to fall asleep, it wasnt on my to-do list!" Not that Jackson had a to-do list, apart from in his brain. "Well, Ive forgotten what I was rambling about now... Though I'm sure I share your enthusiasm about not looking like a baboon, not exactly the best looking of creatures are they?"
Jackson moved up when she bumped into him, he assumed this was her way of telling him to move his great load up. It was early on in the morning and even the students were'nt moving yet. Jax, even when he was a student was always up early, it was like he had some form of alarm clock in his head that told him he needed to be up now! He knew May used to be in Ravenclaw, When he first started she was in her fifth year so he vaguely remembered her. More over he used to be as clutzy as he was now, no doubt he'd walked into her when his nose was shoved in a book. "See! Even I can make sense sometimes!" Jax laughed and ran a hand over his hair, saying through it would be wrong considering it was too short to run through it. "Though its not very often I make sense, which you've probably realised" Still, there was never a dull moment when Jackson Riley Shaw was around.
"I think I came out here to relax and organise my thoughts for the days lessons. Though in all honesty after falling asleep I cant remember." Jax laughed, "Or maybe I was figuring out if I ever wanted to be an Animagus, what form would I like? Though no doubt with me it would be something clumsy, suit the personality and all that"

"Well, it is one of the first times I've gotten to talk to you outside of, what, the Great Hall or, going back a few years, the Common Room?"
Obviously, she was defending herself with a little meager excuse that wasn't really all that valid. But, May was prone to more blonde moments than the average Ravenclaw so it's unsurprising to her that she'd pick up on something, and even blurt it out, in such a delayed fashion. Although it did bring up a fond memory of ickle firstie Jackie, getting sorted into the best house with all the other little losers and, quite simply, not looking like the ripped young man that he was now. But pictures of Mayella in her first year probably didn't even resemble her and most of them had her fighting with her older sister. She was a scrappy lass from the start.
"I do enjoy competition, Mr. Shaw." She said with a little smile, keeping up with his formalities. "Especially, sleepy head, in times where I win. Like now!" May laughed her little schoolgirl giggle of a laugh and rolled her eyes at him. "No, I'd say that baboons aren't the best looking blokes in the animal Kingdom. It'd probably be best for you to stay Jaskson. Or, at the very least, homosapien."
"Unless we're on the same level of stupid thinking that we just understand each other like that?" She suggested, then realized what she said and frowned. "No, no, wait. You're way was definitely right." She said with her hands waving to emphasize her denial, or her stupidity.
Smiling at his little plans for sitting out all night, she laughed a bit. "Well, actually trying to do something productive? I never would have guessed!" Then, just to be the Ravenclaw she was, she had to correct him about animagi. "It's not like you get to choose. If you did, I'm quite sure my brother wouldn't be like 'Oh, I want to be a kitty!' " Even if her's was secret, she still liked her black leopress form that she only used in emergencies, or, even rarer, work from Amelia.
[ Random Fact: Haha, I put homosapien in my spell check and it gave me homosexual. ]
