Hogwarts, Britain’s very own Wizarding School, it continually boasts of its importance and high standards of teaching. However away from the happy go lucky systems that the rest of the wizarding world saw there were deeper problems running underneath. Standards were dropping, graduating students were not going straight into employment and there was an increasing amount of deaths happening in the school grounds. It was originally decided that Illyana Deitrich herself would look over the goings on in the school but ever since the tragic death of the Minster of Magic she was needed elsewhere, with more important things to deal with and so it fell of Esther van Haestregt to sort out the school.
However one does not simply walk into a school and start ordering everybody around, no some form of agreement needs to be in place with the higher powers of the school and so who better to arrange a meting with then the Headmaster. This way Esther could state her business and what she plans to do with the school and with the guidance of the Ministry turn it around. So as they had arranged Esther waited for Headmaster Darrow in his office, her gaze was fixed on the empty chair in front of her. Many would find the many portraits, books and magical items in his office distracting, but not Esther. She did not like paintings, books belonged in the library and gadgets just took up space.

Sitting in the back of Daniel Hubbles' class had been an experience, that was all Darrow would divulge to anyone if they asked. He didn't know if Daniel had become a little nervy having the Headmaster sitting, calm as ever, in chair at the back of he classroom, hands steepled. He hadn't taken notes though, he knew himself that that was terribly off putting. Smiling quite happily as he watched the lesson get underway, develop and finally come to a near thrilling conclusion Darrow had given the Professor a warm smile as he'd left, saying simply, "you did fine, you've nothing to fear." That's about all he was at liberty to say but then he added with a wink, "we'll dicuss your performance tomorrow over lunch, my treat, or rather the houselves treat." With that he had shaken his hand and left.
Now he had somone far more difficult to deal with, he'd have to stay on his toes when greeting Illyana Deitrich's most trusted ally. He'd informed her she could go straight to his office, and that he'd meet her there once finished compiling his report upon Daniel Hubbles, a report the Ministry was commanding him to complete. They hadn't requested what detail need to be taken though.
Arriving at his office Darrow knocked at his own door, stepping in without a moment's hesitation. "Good morning Miss Haestregt, no there's no need to rise," smiling he strode behind his desk sitting down comfortably. "Shall I call for refreshments?" He asked pleasantly.
But he knew her ways, her wish to get down to business immediately, and even ignore the necessary pleasantries beforehand so he spoke simply and to the point, "I've been expecting your arrival for some time now, though I must admit I didn't wish for it, as this means you've a problem with this school. Or else you wouldn't be here now would you?" He asked shrewdly, he knew precisely why she was here, and what they believed incorrect with the workings of the school, but he wanted to hear it from the horses own mouth so to speak. "Now would you like to tell me quite what your fears are?" The Headmaster spoke kindly his voice calm and measured, folding his hands in his lap Darrow settled back to listen, his expression one of honest, avid interest.

Darrow was a man to respect; he was a powerful wizard and had a wise head to match. Even before Esther took the post at the school Illyana had told her not to get on the wrong side of this man they needed him as much on their side as they could however Esther also was going to inform him that they meant business. This was no small inspection where they would not change anything, this was going to be a new era for the school with qualified students who are loyal to the ministry.
“I believe that at Illyana’s last visit she stated to you the ministries plans for the school, however it seems little has been achieved and if anything the situation has got worse.”
Crossing her legs Esther did not remove her gaze off the headmaster, she rested her elbow on the arm of her chair and casually played with a strand of hair. It was not normally something she would do but she felt like she needed to play on her feminine qualities, her cold attitude might not be the most successful method of getting mutual ground with the headmaster.
“Because of the many mishaps that have happened in the past year it was decided for a permanent ministry official to be in place. My links to Illyana meant I was the perfect candidate and I am relishing in the opportunities I have been given.”
Esther had many plans for the school, some that not even Illyana knew about however she did not see that as a problem. Her aim of making Hogwarts a better and more successful school was clear.
