And I know I should move on, but I don't know where to start
Amie, obviously had enough time in the seemingly never-ending train ride from King's Cross to Hogwarts to let a letter slip through the window unnoticed to Ten warning her that she was coming and to tell Jase to wait outside by the grounds entrance at about 6:30 for 'someone'. Hopefully, Ten still had her common sense to realize that meant the someone shouldn't be told, but even if she did Amie probably couldn't get mad at her... right now.
Pulling her fingers through her vibrantly red hair, she checked over her things for the millionth time since she unpacked and still had the nagging sense that she was missing something important. Maybe that's because she'd finally settled in back at her old, much tinier, school -- and, let's face it, that was faster than usual only because she spent so much time in her dorm -- and now she'd have to start the process of packing and unpacking in her crazy way all over again. It'd be weeks before she would find the matching outfits, and she was glad that she laid out an outfit for today that pleased her, well, pleased her with the robe just thrown over her arm rather than actually on the rest of her body.
Based on the number of students filing through the labyrinth of hallways, and actually knowing where they were going unlike her, Amie realized that she was late already. "Oh dear." She said quietly, frowning in distaste and heading down random hallways in the hopes that they'd all lead to the great hall and she'd know where to go from there. Of course, they didn't, and that just had her all turned around and lost.
After a while of trying that and getting no where, asking directions would be blasphemous, what kind of woman didn't have a flawless sense of direction, she decided that it would just be best to head outside. In theory, it should be easier find the outside entrance that way by wandering around the grounds and 'watching the castle'. If castle in this case meant butterflies, then Amie definitely had it down and she should find her way soon enough. But for reality, she was just lost and didn't really care. After all, she was still on the lawns so nothing was going to eat her, except Jase when he realizes that the person he's waiting for is nearly 20 minutes late and still not shown. That might not be too good, so Amie just weaved her way around the thickets back towards the castle.
[ nicole starts... that's a shocker. ]

[[Dan is amazed at Nicoles starting! But it was a very good start!]]
So things had been rather hectic these past few weeks, everything had passed in a daze for the Gryffindor and to be honest, sometimes he wondered which way was up and which way was down. So the Gryffindor found himself in more than one mess over the course of the week, and he wasnt just talking about the state of his sock drawer. Classes were different here, and he was still trying to adjust to the whole different house thing. Back in America, there were students with their own dorm rooms, no houses to speak of and it was a lot simpler. He could only assume these hoses were based on personality. He got this conclusion because of himself and Tenley. She was the brains of the bunch, so she was placed in a Brainy house. Jase was more brawns and brave, so he was placed in a house that had many people like himself, Max included.
Obviously when Ten had told him to wait at the Grounds Entrance for someone at 6:30 he was surprised and asked who this someone was. Though Ten refused to tell him and he had a nagging feeling someone was trying to push him and Max together. Still, in any normal circumstance when he felt that feeling he wouldnt have gone, but if he hadnt and Ten found out, she would kill him so deciding it was best he began to sort himself out ready to make his way down to the grounds.
Jase usually was a never on time kinda guy, he never had been. You tell Jase to meet you somewhere at a certain time, he'd usually be an hour or so late. Jase was on his own time normally. He didnt bother with his robe and left it back in the common room, he just had his jacket and that was warm enough for him. The doors leading to the grounds were open, which was good so he didnt have to faf around trying to get outside. He looked around the Lawns, there were students sat everywhere, looking around as they saw Jase walk past them, some uttering things about him but he didnt care, he was more interested in who this someone was he was supposed to meet.
6:30 came and went. Still Jase stood there, now he was beginning to feel stood up. Or like someone was playing some form of joke on him. Running a hand through his hair he looked around the lawns to see if anyone looked like they were waiting for him, but they didnt. It was now ten to seven and nobody had shown up yet. This was uncharictaristic of Jase to wait around this long. Shaking his head he turned and headed back up to the castle. Though as he looked around something caught his eyes. It cant be! He thought to himself and rubbed his eyes, then looking back over in the direction, he was right, the flaming mass of red hair, Amie's red hair! Now he knew who he was waiting for, Ten knew she was back and hadnt told him! I think I like surprises. He stood there, with a smile on his face watching as she weaved in and out of the crowd.
Jase began to walk over to her, slowly. He felt like he was in one of those silly romance films Ten and Amie used to watch all the time. You know the part, where they had been seperated for a while and finally they end up at the same place at the same time, with all that dramatic music and things going on. Though Jase made his way around her so she wouldnt see him and creeped up behind her.
"Scuze me miss, Are you lost?"

Amie bit lightly on her lower lip in thought as she glanced around the castle and weaved through students. Somehow, she got the feeling that she wasn't going to find him and maybe that was because of the mobs of students just hanging around with their friends. Am puffed her cheeks out in frustration, but ended up giggling when she heard catcalls coming from a rather large group of guys near her and assumed them to be towards her. She didn't see any other gingers around, anyway!
Weaving away before she was tempted to flirt back, she sighed and debated about going back up to her common room then just finding Jase in the Great Hall tomorrow morning. Then, at least he would be limited to one table and maybe Ten could point him out more easily. 'Amie, you're so pathetic sometimes.' She silently reprimanded herself but still had to smile, since it was hard not to when she was this happy.
Am jumped when she heard a voice behind her accusing her of being lost and figured it was one of the guys from before. Instantly blushing, she turned around and frowned, prepared to glare daggers -- or maybe hers would be more like snowcones -- at him. "No, I'm no--" But she cut herself off when she recognized the person not as some pushy little brat but as someone ten times better to see. "Jase!" She squealed delightedly and instantly wrapped her arms around his neck. So much for her surprising him, it ended up being the opposite. Typical Amie plans never work.
"I was so not lost." She added in a whisper, defending herself even though she knew he'd see right through it.

When Jase saw the red head that belonged to Amie, he realised what it was like when people had managed to punch a hole through you, beneath your ribs where your heart lies and not know how to fill that hole yourself. Because Jase was realising now, that hole would never be filled himself, it couldnt be. When he was home in America, that hole was filled by Ten, Amie and Mike, once he left that space became empty once more.
Thats a feeling everyone feels at some point in there lives, to have had people you care about, and to have lost them all before you were willing to. Though Jase never thought he would feel those things, and everyone who knew Jase didnt think he would feel those things. His emotional side didnt show too often. It was part of who he was, and the people that knew him and cared for him were the ones who accepted that.
Some part of him was overcoming this gaping hole in time, the feeling was lessening and he was picking himself back up. Once Ten arrived, the hole seemed to fill a part of itself, the part that had Tenley in it. Though the other parts still ached with loss. Now he was seeing Amie again, the hole inside the pit of him was fading once more. He had two of the people he cared about back, and that, he could honestly say filled him with happiness.
Jase smiled when he saw the realisation of who was stood infront of her set in. The squeal of his name and the fact she was soon clinging to his neck also showed that she was happy to see him. He gave a little laugh, both a nervous and relieved one and put his arms around her, resting on her lower back and closed his eyes. He never thought he would have her in his arms again. He knew that she was the one who was supposed to surprise him, and it worked, it did surprise Jase that she was here, just not in the way she had intended.
"You so were lost!" Jase whispered back, pulling out of the hug though his hands still resting on her hips. "If you werent lost you wouldnt be twenty minutes late! Amie's never late"

Amie was definitely disappointed that he ended up surprising, scaring might be a better description but she was too vain to admit it, her instead. Of course, it wasn't her fault that she was easily picked out of a crowd, unlike him who just blended in like all the other students. Not even half a term in, and he already seemed like one of the gang except for the fact that a few groups of people were staring at them and whispering. Jealous, perhaps? Who knows.
Am's heart fluttered happily when he wrapped his arms around too, and she felt a little better about deciding to latch herself to him at first sight of him. It seemed like ages, and for a while she thought she'd never get to feel like this again. Frowning when he pulled away, she sighed and leaned up on her tippy toes to give him a soft kiss on the cheek before releasing him from her little death grip.
"Hmph, I was on time.." She said, and her brow furrowed as she tried to come up with an plausible excuse, or lie. Running her fingers back through her long hair, she pulled the bangs off of her face and glanced away from Jase. Amie was a terrible liar, and to be even slightly believed she needed to avoid eye contact. "I just felt like looking around while I waited for you, slowpoke." There, that could probably be true even if it wasn't at all.
Smiling at the 'Amie's never late' comment, she just shook her head and laughed. It was probably true though, since she had a ton of obsessive-compulsive perks, especially when things involved public image. Trying to switch subjects away from her lying, she glanced back at Jase with a little pout.
"I didn't get to surprise you! What if that was going to be the highlight of my day?" Of course, just seeing Jase and Ten at all would be the highlight of her day, but she still enjoyed pulling the guilt card in situations like this if it brought things away from something embarrassing.

The stares Jase recieved these days, he had learnt to ignore them. It was no different than in America, he was always being stared at, though that was because of the fact he was a trouble causer and everyone knew it. Well Jase wasnt going to ruin Amie's first day in telling her that that was probably the reason they were staring at him now. He didnt want her to know he had already been fighting, Amie never liked Jase fighting, probably because she didnt like him getting hurt, but like Ten pointed out, the four of them had their roles. Amie was the beauty, Ten was the brains, Jase was the muscle and Mike, well Mike was the voice of reason, the logic behind them.
Jase smiled when she stood on her tip toes to give him a kiss, maybe now Amie was here, things would start to get better. Not just for him, but for all of them. His arms still resting on her as the two of them just seemed to stand there not saying anything for a while. Jase brushed a bit of hair away from her eyes, it was no secret Amie's eyes were one of Jase's favourite things about her. Apart from when they shot him icy glares during their fights, which of course he didnt like. The two of them in America used to have their ups and downs all the time, they would break up and make up at least once a month due to their differences. Though Jase wondered would a new place change that?
"You were so not on time!" Jase laughed and looked at her, his eyes scanning her, trying to take in every little detail or seemed to be. He was actually looking for any changed, "I was stood there at twenty past waiting for you." Though of course, Jase didnt know it was Am he was waiting for.
Jase let her go for a moment while he ran his hand through his hair, though he took her hand and guided her to a bench sitting down. The two of them had quite a bit of catching up to do. Jase had missed Amie, but because of his stubborness, he wouldnt admit that. Though he knew she knew he missed her, his letters to her had said that, even if he hadnt exactly written it.
"I thought seeing me, even if you didnt surprise me, would be the highlight of your day?" He teased. Though her just coming here had surprised him, when he first saw that flaming red hair he was surprised. Its just she hadnt seen it.
"So, how did you sway your folks in letting you come here?" He asked, the last he had heard was that Am's parents had flat out refused to let her go to Hogwarts. To let her come to him. Though he wasnt surprised, Amie's parents didnt exactly like Jase. They told him to his face once, he was a bad sort and it was probably true. Though he cared about Amie, he cared about Ten and Mike. So he couldnt be all that bad.

"Well, fine, I was late, but I wasn't lost." Amie rolled her eyes at Jase and playfully stuck her tongue out at him. Then smiling up at him she smirked. "But, it was worth the wait, of course?" Otherwise he might've had to wait another whole day. Gasp, the blasphemy.
Following him to a bench, she sat down next to him but didn't let go of his hand. Instead she interlaced her fingers with his and kept a hold on him as if when she let go he would disappear and she'd wake up back in her old dorm without him again. Frowning at the idea, she glanced back over to him to confirm to herself that he was still there and caught him staring back at her. Blushing a bit, she quickly looked back down and sat quietly for a moment. Hearing his words break through her thoughts, she smiled a little. Even if he was joking around, it was almost ironic how much it resembled what she was thinking. "Yeah, it really was." She said quietly before finally making eye contact again. "You have no idea how much I missed you."
Switching easily back to a smirk and little mockings she huffed at him. "It would've been a much better surprise if I could've seen your face. I guess I can only imagine it." She said, then proceeded to mock him with little over-dramatic gasping and facial expressions. As if it was something like that, knowing him it was probably more like 'Oh my god, is that Amie? What the hell is she doing here?'.
Looking away quickly, she gave a sheepish grin. She wouldn't ever tell him how she actually convinced her parents to let her come, it would only hurt him to know how much he hurt her and he'd probably want to send her back for 'not being worthy of someone like her'. Instead, she just shrugged lightly. "I can be very persuasive, if I want to be."
Knowing that it would be her turn to throw a question at him, she tried to think of one that wouldn't be so tense. But the only ones she could think of were 'Why didn't you tell me earlier?' Or 'Why didn't you write back to me?' Or the self-esteem crushing favorite of 'Aren't you happy?'. No, those wouldn't do since she didn't want to talk about that even though she really wanted to know the answers. She wanted to enjoy the time she had with him for now. Sighing in the realization that she couldn't put it off forever, she turned a bit to look away towards the lake.
"I wish you would've told me earlier... that you were going to move, that is." Her lower lip quivered slightly at the memory of him finally telling him during the dance. "Telling me suddenly like that, it almost seemed like a joke."

"Yeah you were lost," Jase poked Amie on her nose as a smirk played across his face, his stomach had little butterflies roaming around inside it at the sight of her. She truely was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on. "You're always worth the wait Amie, no matter how many arguments we have or how many times we break up!" He ran his hand through her hair, still as soft as he remembered it to be. He was happy she was here, he was beginning to think maybe some other lucky guy had her.
On the bench with Amie was like old times. Back in America the two of them would sit on the benches of the courtyard, sometimes never speaking just sat there. Their relationship was definatly a turbulant one, you never knew when the two would be fighting, or when they would be laughing. It could be either from one minute to the next. Jase looked at her when she said she'd missed him and felt a pang of guilt. He hadnt told her until the night before that he was leaving, and she had no idea how much it hurt him to hide it from her, but he didnt want her to be upset. Was that really the reason? Or did he just not want to deal with seieng her upset? "I missed you too Amie... I really did"
"Well," Jase smiled, "It was something like this."
Dropping his mouth to an -o- shape and placing his hands on either side of his face while letting his eyes widen. It looked vaguely like the scream mask, though he couldnt hold it very long. He began to laugh and let his hands drop back down, taking hold of Amie's hand once more. He had missed her, he had missed everyone. Though now Amie and Tenley were both here, yet Mike wasnt. They were still only half the group they used to be.
"I remember" He smiled, yes he knew how pursuasive Amie could be when she wanted to be. She had pursuaded Jase himself to do many things, one of them was to actually study if he wanted to be someone. Though Jase wanted to be a musician, not a Ministry official or anything like that. Yet he studied anyway as everyone knew Jase had a tendancy to change his mind more than once.
"I know, but I couldnt." He sighed and looked away from Amie, Jase felt a shiver run through him. He hadnt told her and he felt bad enough about it but he couldnt bring himself to tell her, even now he found it hard to let himself remember that night, Amie's face, Tens and even Mikes face when he announced his departure. "I'm sorry."

[ Mm, sorry this took so long. I've been preoccupied with another character, on another forum. ] [ (it was an intense application... ) ]
Amie frowned as he continued to pursue the idea of her being lost. Placing a hand on her hip, she grinned sheepishly at him. "Late and lost, already I'm like different person... I haven't even been her for a whole day yet!" That was her biggest fear for this school, change. Change in Jase, change in Ten, change in her. It seemed like a bad thing and yet it was completely unavoidable. She blushed a bit at his compliment and took a few seconds to come up with a comeback. "That's good, it'd be such a waste for you to have to go back to your room disappointed. 'Ugh, Amie. The little bugger followed me here!' "
Sitting with Jase seemed to bring on a round of deja vu reminded her of the many fights they'd get into, mostly about nothing. Sometimes she suspected that they started to fight just to fight and make up later. Although now she knew what it felt like to lose him permanently, and that was something she knew she wouldn't be able to deal with. Perhaps their petty fights would be better left behind. "It was weird without someone to blame for everything." She said with a sly smirk but it was obvious she was enjoying the time spent with him again.
Am giggled at Jase's expression though it was rather startling to see that much emotion on his face, even if it was mocking. Although, there's probably been a few moments where Amie made that expression and she wasn't joking around. She could be such a spaz. "Oh, I'm sure it looked just like that. I'm glad I didn't see then, that's rather frightening." She managed to say through the stray laughs. "Maybe that's why people are starting at us now?" Although she was kidding about that, she did find the group of Gryffindor guys whispering a little unnerving.
"Oh come on, Jase. It's not like you regret doing the stupid things I convinced you to do?" He was always the easiest one to convince to do one of her stupid pranks, which usually never worked out well for him in the end. Unless it was something serious, like studying or getting his hair cut.
Giving his hand a comforting squeeze, she turned towards him with a little smile. “Don’t worry, I’m not.. that mad. But next time, you will tell me. Please?” Am hated to even consider that it could happen again, him moving away from her and she knew it wouldn’t fly with her parents for her to keep chasing after him. In their perspective, it would surely look like he was running away from her.
