[Lawns] Help!

[Professor Ashton Laurent]

Ash ran across the lawns, lungs screaming for air. He dashed across the green grass, searching frantically for a teacher. I've got to find one. I can't leave Cris and Alexa out there!

For one of the first times this term Dan Hubbles was doing a duty. He had got over his small little illness and so no longer could pull that fast one over Girty to get her to cover for him and out of all the duties to be doing he had to get the night time one of patrolling the castle grounds. This was normally a cold and dull task with very little happening however tonight seemed to be quite different. As in the distance Dan could see someone running out of the forest and across the lawns and straight towards him.

Squinting to try and see who it was Dan noticed that it was Ashton and he seemed to be in some form of a hurry. Breaking out into a jog Dan moved towards the lad with a look of concern filling his face, the professor was already pulling his wand out of his pocket getting ready to enter the forest as he could not help that that was where the incident had occurred.

“Mr Laurent! What has happened?”

Ash stood there gasping for breath, "We were in the woods,Cris couldn't find his sister.Then we found her unconcious!" Ash was so panicked his words came out in a jumbled mess.

Dan just stood and looked at Ashton as the boy tried to gain his breath back while at the same time telling Dan about what had been happening in the forest. The problem that Dan now faced was first of all calming the boy down and then trying to decipher what he had actually said. He had mentioned something about someone being unconscious and that was the only thing he needed to hear. If there was a student in trouble, no matter what house they were it was his job to protect them as a Professor at the school.
Nodding his head and putting a reassuring hand on Ashton’s shoulder Dan looked at him directly in the eyes and spoke in the most claming voice he could manage without sounding too patronising.

“I will send word to the castle to get a bed ready in the Hospital wing for an unconscious student then I want you to show me the way.”

After a moment pause Dan removed his hand and with his wand he summoned a patronus (like nearly all members of the Hubbles family it was a badger) and within less then half a minute the silver creature on bounding across the grass lawns towards the castle. Turning back to Ashton Dan gave a nod of his head and lit the end of his wand so a narrow beam shone on the ground before them.

“Lead the way Ashton.”

Ash nodded, and turned. "She's in the forest." he took off across the lawns, turning to make sure Professor Hubbles was following him.

With the nod of his head Ashton mentioned that she was in the forest (he had gathered that much before, however he knew in situations when panic took over people always acted in strange ways) and together the Head of Hufflepuff and the Ravenclaw broke out into a run across the lawns heading towards the forest.
Dan held his wand up high letting the thin beam it produced light the area around them, he did not want it to be too bright in fear of attracting other creatures that lurked in the forest but if it was too dim then…well Dan would most likely run into a tree.

As they reached the borders of the forest Dan stopped for a moment not only to catch his breath (he was not as fit as he once had been) but also just to gather his bearings before entering the forest. It had been a while since he had stepped foot inside the forbidden forest and although he had been into far scary places during his life it still had that feeling of the unknown about it like the first time he gazed upon it in his first year at Hogwarts.

“Right Ashton lead on…lets just hope nothing else has reached them before we do.”
