Warren could have sworn it looked like she was leaving; her feet were upon the floor and it looked like she was ready to stand up off the stool and walk out of the pub. Maybe that was just his imagination jumping to the worst scenarios but it seemed his request for her name managed to keep her firmly on the bar stool. A personal service, that is what Warren liked to give, try and make himself stand out from the other bar staff that and pubs that lined the streets of Hogsmeade. So it was with a smile and a nod his head Warren properly greeted the woman.
“Well then Hannah Edgecombe, I am Warren Hubbles current landlord of the Hogshead. It is a pleasure to meet you.” He gave a small bow more out of jest then anything before locking eyes with the woman once more. “And what brings such a lady as your self Miss Edgecombe to the humble little wizarding village?”
That was another thing Warren had picked up over the years, always find out what your customers are doing in town as you never know with the right smile and a few compliments you might be able to make them rearrange their plans and get them spend more time and money in your pub. Hannah did not hit Warren as one of those types to be the drunken witch in the corner shouting abuse at people, neither did she take her to drown her sorrows so it simply must have been a social drop in.

Hannah heard the name, but at first she thought she must have heard him wrong. Hubbles? No it couldn't be. So as she sat there she replayed what he had just said, and she distinctly heard heard the words Warren Hubbles mentioned. Her eyes widened with shock and she almost spit out her drink but she managed to hold it in. Hubbles was a name she had heard before. Dan Hubbles he was the charms professor at Hogwarts. Ha even in the wizarding world it was a small world.
"Ah well I'm here because I needed an escape from students. Who knew being a teacher was so much work. So tell me Warren would you happen to be related to a certain charms professor named Dan?"
Her eyelids lifted as she stared at him unblinkingly waiting for an answer. If he was related all she had to say was that they came from some very good genes because they were both extremely attractive men. "If you are related are there more of you at home?" she asked in a joking manner but she was being somewhat serious.

At her mention about escaping the students Warren could not help but laugh. He seemed to get many of the Professors from the castle trying to fine peace and quite at the bottom of a wine glass, the Hogshead was not normally the local drop in for the students (they seemed to prefer the more cheerful atmosphere of the Three Broomsticks) so it allowed them a chance to get away. Warren for one could not blame them!
Then it happened, it always did, people ask him his name and like you are meant to when someone asks a question you answer and the response is always the same. ‘Are you related to Dan Hubbles.’ His cousin most defiantly had a reputation, but then considering Hannah was a professor up at the castle it would only be natural for her to know Dan, after all they were co workers. It was however her next question he did not expect and the barman could not help but give a small chuckle.
“Who says you have to look back home to find yourself a Hubbles.” Warren leaned on the bar counter and looked Hannah straight in the eyes, a playful smirk filling his features. “There are plenty of us here.”
He gave Hannah a small wink before pushing himself up off the bar and wondered back over to the many bottles of wine and spirits that lined the back of the counter. Some of them were getting dangerously low and he knew that if they had another busy night like last night then they would soon be empty. This would mean that the sensible thing would be to go and get a new bottle from the back room but Warren found himself turning around and walking back over towards Hannah, she had intrigues him greatly. It was the way her eyes always seemed to be upon him, the slight look of interest in her eyes, the smile that danced across her lips from time to time all added up to make it so Warren simply could not tare his eyes away from her.

Hannah was surprised to have run into another Hubbles there in the village. Surprised but pleasantly so. They were an attractive lot that was for sure. Dan was the talk of the school especially with female faculty and now there was a cousin right there in Hogsmeade. Hannah couldn't help herself and she smiled her green eyes twinkling mischievously. Glancing back at Warren she gaged that he had been asked on more than one occasion if he was related. Probably by other staff, she knew several that frequented the pub for he same reason as she did.
She was wondering if this Hubbles was taken just like the other when he said "Who says you have to look back home to find yourself a Hubbles.? He looked right into her eyes and like some women might Hannah never looked away. A man who could stare so boldly well he was a worthy adversary at least to her. Then he smirked at her and she smirked right back. Seems like things changed just a bit. Before she was simply another customer now she was something else and she liked it.
He pushed himself up from he bar to check his stock Hannah eyes him the whole way enjoying the view from the back just as much as the one from the front. For a time he seemed to be thinking about something then suddenly he turned right back around and made his way back over to her. Things most certainly had changed. Smiling Hannah couldn't help but tease him "couldn't stay away from me for too long, could you?" she winked now staring straight into his eyes and no wavering.

“I could keep away.” Warren teased “But that would mean leaving you to sit in the pub by yourself and although there is Jen, she seems to have passed out at the bar, so I think that would be rather unsociable of me. I am after all just trying to be a good host.”
The smile never left his face although his mini defence statement, nor did his eyes leave Hannah. Those green eyes were hypnotising and for the briefest of moments he just wanted to lean over the bar and taste her lips. The smell of her drink was getting to him; all Warren could smell was the scent of Jasmine, if there was one thing that would get Warren Hubbles on his knees then it was Jasmine. It has been the type of perfume heather wore that fateful night, he just could not resist...
He needed a drink and a stiff one at that.
Giving Hannah a small wink Warren picked up an empty glass and wondered over to the range of spirits deciding that a rather large class of scotch would do for now. The caramel coloured liquid slowly flowed into the glass and over the lumps of ice filling up the glass, it was not even half full and Warren had ready stopped pouring and took a swig out of the bottle. It was strong stuff, proper Scottish Whisky and it did help ever so slightly to clear his head.
Glancing over his shoulder at Hannah the barman sighed and looked at her half empty glass that was sitting on the counter in front of her. If he wanted her to stay a while longer he would have to offer another drink, even if it meant having to make it on the house.
“Can I get you another drink Hannah?”

Used to making comments like that Hannah got used to the usual male reactions she got. Warren wasn't so typical, what did she expect him to say? Probably something like oh yes Hannah I can't keep away, her ego would have liked it but he chose to be defensive about it. There was a time something like that would have bothered her but she knew he meant no harm so she let it go, her ego would heal. Despite what he said she could see he enjoyed the view the way he looked at her. Hannah didn't mind at all because she enjoyed the view just as much. Actually she wanted a little more too, just a taste of him a way to know if those lips were as soft as she imagined.
Looking over to the semi unconscious girl Hannah figured they were pretty much alone in the pub, which was a good thing because anyone within a few feet of her would feel the heat that was why she wasn't going to wake her and had a feeling Warren wasn't either.
Again he walked away leaving her to stare in his wake. What was it that made her keep sitting there, made her keep looking at him the way she was. He was interesting yes, but there was something more something that she couldn't explain which was why you would be hard pressed to remove her from her seat. Though she was low on drink at the moment, she had to ask for another if she wanted to remain not that she was in the drinking mood she just liked the company. He asked her if she wanted another, and without hesitation she replied "I'll have what you're having" hard liquor probably wasn't a good idea but Hannah wasn't truly thinking clearly at the time.

With a smirk Warren looked down at the glass that was in his hand and watched as the caramel liquid reflected in the light. The smell of the Scotch filled the air around him, that was why he liked to work in the pub, alcohol was something he loves, craved almost and working with it helped. Women, there was another weakness so in a situation where both alcohol and women are concerned it would be safe to say Warren was at his best.
Gently placing his glass down on the side Warren prepared another drink before making his way back over towards Hannah, but this time he was not going to stay on the other side of the counter, that felt too much like a bartender and customer relationship, at this present moment in time Warren wanted a little bit then that from the Hogwarts Professor. So instead he made his way around the counter and sat down on the bar stool directly next to her, gently placing her drink down next to his.
“So Hannah…” a playful smile filled his face “…are you single?”
In his experience of the world and sitting at a bar with many different women the best tactic was to be forward, very forward at that. If they did not like it then the chance of them getting anywhere that night was almost non existent but if they answered then there was a chance. As he waited for the answer he picked up his drink, sipping on it slowly eyeing the beautiful woman up in front of him.
(Oh lord, terrible post…I am so sorry!)

Hannah enjoyed this new development. It seemed that the flirting had now begun and to think when she first walked in she didn't think he thought of her as anything more than a patron. Hannah had hoped he might take an interest but she had lost hope at first then poof.
He watched as she poured the drinks, she knew that it wasn't the brightest idea she liked the drink but had long since passed the time where she could drink a man under the table. That was in her hay day now a days she got tipsy over a couple of glasses. As it was she was already feeling quite nice.
As he began to walk back with their drinks she prepared to take the glass from him on the other side of the bar but he threw her off kilter when he came out from behind to sit next to her. This was a very interesting development. Again taking all of him in Hannah couldn't deny she did enjoy every single inch of what she saw.
Apparently he did too because he suddenly asked if she was single. "No one can lay claim to me right now Warren so I'm more than free for just about anything" she didn't feel the need to beat around the bush just as he didn't. If he wanted then she was more than willing to give.
(it didn't suck at all)

Now if that was not an invite to try something that Warren was dumber then he thought he was. If she was free for anything then he could defiantly conveniently over the look he had a girlfriend and kids an the opposite end of the country, it was not a serious relationship really, I mean if you loved someone would you really let them move hundreds of miles away to work in a pub?
Used to his own internal battle of morals, the typical right verses wrong…good verse evil…temptation over loyalty, Warren was able to put on good front. The cheeky smile was still on his face and he continued to swill his drink around in his glass. It was a bad habit he had picked up but it was the only way in these situation he knew how to let out all his nervous energy without faltering. Lifting the glass to his lips once more he let the liquid trickle over it but he was paying very little attention to the drink, he was fully focused on the very attractive Professor in front of him.
“Well…”he said slowly, placing the glass back down upon the counter “…it is always nice to know that a woman of your magnificence is free for anything. Makes it slightly easier for me.”
The bar tender gave a small chuckle and locked eyes with the woman, he could tell she was enjoying the attention, most women did, but there was something else about Hannah that attracted Warren to her, maybe it was just the fact that she seemed willing. Running a hand through his hair Warren wondered if he should make a move, maybe it was to early, maybe they were not drunk enough…but for now the man stayed firm on his bar stool and merely gazed upon the exquisiteness of the woman in front of him.

Intuition, it tingled and Hannah eyed Warren a while. He was struggling with something. She had no idea what and he didn't seem inclined to tell her but her intuition was never wrong. Something was going on, she tried to think what it could be he was attracted that much she knew but something was getting to him. Hannah wondered if perhaps she was coming on a bit too strong, she knew that some men truly didn't like it, but she couldn't help it.
Tearing her eyes away she took up her glass and held it up to her lips, parting them she downed some allowing it to make it's way down her throat instantly warming her. She swilled around a bit after not quite ready to put it down because she wanted something to do with her hands.
She was thinking when she heard him begin to speak again, and the compliment about a woman of her magnificence gained him a huge grin. If he kept those up she'd be a very naughty girl real soon. She knew she wanted him, had since she saw him now all he had to do was make his move Hannah was willing and she was waiting. Taking another look she nonchalantly placed her hand on his thigh "you do make a mean drink Mr. Bartender." Winking she removed the hand allowing it to graze his thigh before completely removing it.

Oh she was good, in fact Hannah Edgecombe was more then good, she was a pro. As her hand moved off his thigh letting it graze it as she went. Shifting rather nervously on his bar stool Warren took a deep breath and gave a small and relatively nervous chuckle. It took a lot for a woman to make Warren nervous but yet he was, in his own pub being the not so confident one.
Throwing back the rest of his drink, wincing at the bitter taste and the burning sensation as the alcohol slithered down his throat Warren slammed the glass down on the counter. His very hungover commonsense was screaming at him for even contemplating drinking more alcohol, it was not like he needed it to get drunk to hallucinate that Hannah was beautiful, she was and maybe it was that factor that was making Warren hesitate.
Running his hand over his jaw he stopped when he got to his lips and he gently traced his finger over them. He could imagine kissing Hannah, the taste of her lips, the feeling of her hair between his fingers….
“I best make sure Jen is still breathing.” He joked as he slipped off his bar stool; the only problem was that as he started to walk past Hannah he stopped, curiosity was a very strange thing and slowly sub coming to it Warren turned around and looked upon Professor Edgecombe yet again, all the same emotions and images flooded his mind once again. Before Warren full cottoned on to what he was doing he leaned closer to Hannah and his lips met hers.

Hannah thought that little thigh touching trick had gotten to him (it was more like hoping anyway.) So far it seemed that it hadn't. Before the touch there was this bravado attached to him. He was a man who seemed to know what he wanted and went right after it. Now though he seemed nervous, had she done that? Time was she would enjoy seeing a man look nervous because of her, but not this time because she was very interested, and this whole nervous thing was kind of putting a damper on things.
As he slammed down the glass Hannah couldn't help but jump a little because it caught her so off guard. She eyed him warily as he got up from his seat saying that he wanted to check on Jen. She didn't understand what had happened, but decided to say nothing. Perhaps she was on her own in thinking he was interested. It wouldn't be the first time she read someone the wrong way. Taking a sip of her drink she thought perhaps she had overstayed her welcome and was once again contemplating leaving when she saw out of the corner of her eye Warren stop dead.
He returned and stood in front of her then he did what she was surely not expecting, leaning down to kiss her. The woman did not shy away, instead moving forward to meet him half way, showing him she wanted too. Their lips met and she soon noticed that he tasted just as good as he looked. She wanted him to deepen it so she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer ready to loose herself to he kiss of this one man.

Hannah’s arms wrapped themselves around his neck and Warren had been in this situation enough times and knew what it meant, she pulled him closer and he could not help but respond. He let all the feelings of lust and wanting escape in this kiss, for Warren it had been so long since he had done this, felt like an age since he had kissed someone and all that sexual frustration was being let out. Hannah tasted so good; the alcohol was still present on her lips and she also the slightest hint of chocolate…a part of him never wanted the kiss to end.
Yet during the kiss his mind wondered back home, to the small semi-detached house where his kids and Heather lived. There was the slightest twinge of guilt that hit Warren, he felt like he was betraying her, his family and he faltered. He broke the kiss and just looked into Hannah’s eyes, during the kiss his arms had wrapped themselves around her and as he looked on in silence he still held her tight.
“Sorry.” He mumbled, he could not help but feel like a complete idiot and not wanting to let his other life interfere with the one he had up here in Scotland Warren did not wan to tell the truth. “I thought I heard someone enter the pub.” He lied. “Can not have every customer think that I will kiss them, I know I offer a service with a smile but have you seen some of the people who come in here.”
A small smile danced across his lips as he continued to look on at Hannah, his heart was pounding out of a mixture of adrenaline and nerves as he hoped that she would believe him. She was a very beautiful woman which was a rare thing to find in this pub and it had been so long since he had been this close to another woman that he wanted it top continue, he wanted to sweep her off his feet and take her upstairs but if he could not kiss her without feeling guilty he doubted he would be able to do much more. This was clearly something he needed to overcome.

She didn't mean to want him, that's not what she had intended when she walked in there, but here she was in the middle of his pub kissing him like she lost all sense of rhyme or reason. Her arms were wrapped about his neck as if she was afraid to let him go. Her mouth plundering his a kiss so passionate she moaned. No this isn't what she had bargained for but it's what she got and she wanted it.
So when he pulled away from her Hanna felt cheated somehow. He claimed he thought he heard someone but Hannah felt in her heart that he was being dishonest. There's only one reason a man would choose to break away from a woman so willing to be with him. There was someone else in the picture. The thought shook Hannah made her wonder whom had him so wrapped around her finger. Hannah was still breathing heavy as she looked up at him his arms still wrapped tightly around her.
She knew she should stop herself especially if he had someone else in his life, but he made her want so badly she wasn't sure what to do with herself. A proper woman would simply bow out gracefully but she wasn't a proper woman.
Taking her hand and caressing the left side of his cheek she said "Someone else in your life, I get that and I know this is wrong of me to say but I want you still. What happens between us stays between us I will never utter a word. You made me want you I've tasted you and that small taste wasn't enough. If you can deny me then that's fine, but I think you want me just as much Warren, no guilt pleasure is what I can offer you." Hannah wanted what she wanted this was a flaw in her but for this night she was willing to live with that flaw.

Warren did not know what to say, there was nothing he could say. Hannah had been so honest that it shocked him slightly but it was the good kind of shock. He was not backing away to the other side of the pub in horror; instead Warren remained with his arms wrapped around Hannah, staring into those starling green eyes. There was that look in her eyes that she will get what she wanted and that look of determination made Warren grin a little and with the added possibility of her proposal of a guilt free pleasures, what man would refuse?
Although even with this in mind Warren still thought about it carefully, he had responsibilities and he owed it to Heather and the kids to be sensible but then one night would not hurt? Things with Heather were not really serious, the only reason they were together was for children and they were the result of a one night stand, she was his best friend but the fact they lived at opposite sides of the country had to mean something.
Breathing in deeply Warren slowly moved closer to Hannah, there noses bushed before he gently kissed her. It was his way of shaking on the deal, more intimate, more appropriate for the situation they were in.
“I think…” he muttered as he once again looked into her green eyes. “…that you are going to get what you want Miss Edgecombe. There is no one you need to worry about, I started a new life up here and I intend to make the most of it.”
