It was on the very rare occasion that Via would stray away from Hogwarts grounds, and would only go to Hogsmeade if necessary to get supplies and such, or if she needed to get presents for someone or other. Today was one of those days of rarity that she actually ventured out into Hogsmeade for no apparent reason other than to see some form of life, other than Hogwarts students.
Via never quite knew how to dress or what to take with her to Hogsmeade. It wasn’t all that far, but it was far enough away to be a pain in the butt to go all the way back to the castle if you forgot something. Looking at the small bag on her bed, along with a few items to wear, she viewed over them attempting to decide what to take and what to leave behind. Glancing out of the window, she saw the weather was mild, but you never quite knew when it would change out in Scotland. It had a habit of changing as soon as you were far away enough to get in a weather mess. You’d have a big jacket on, and it would become boiling hot, and then you’d be left carrying around the bulky item, or it would work the opposite way, and you’d be left feeling freezing cold, and soaked to the bone. You could never really win.
Deciding on her light jacket and her hufflepuff scarf, she pulled them onto herself before stuffing her bag with her coin bag and looked over to Arnie, her Natterjack toad, who was looking up at her longingly on her pillow. Via smirked at him and leant over to pick him up, in which he happily obliged with a croak and hopped onto her open palm.
“I won’t be long Arnie, you know me. I’m going to bring you back something nice, don’t worry!” she said, knowing exactly what he was ribbiting about. The little bugger, he made out he’d be missing her, yet as soon as her back was turned, he’d be off terrorising the Gryffindor girls. Why he had such an obsession with them she’d never know. Stroking his head with her long slender finger, she rubbed her nose against his gently before placing him back down on the pillow. Sure enough, as soon as she placed him down he hopped off and out of the dorm. Shaking her head at him, she let a petite laugh escape her chest that had been laying deep within her chest that she managed to store. A little burst of happiness that she had been suppressing.
Pulling her shoulder bag over her head, she walked out of the door and into the common room to see it rather empty, as usual. There were a younger girl and boy giggling in the corner tickling each other and Via just wore the smile she always wore as she saw the door opening, and Arnie making his great escape from the hufflepuff quarters. Following him out of the door, she walked the opposite way to exit into Hogsmeade. He really did love the Gryffindors girls a bit too much!
Humming to herself all the way to Hogsmeade, down the gravelled path, she didn’t stop the small smile escaping once. It was rare to see Via in Hogsmeade, but even rarer to see her with anything other than a smile on her face, except soil from herbology of course. Somehow she always managed to get soil everywhere. Reaching the top of the high street, she paused, deciding where to go for a moment. Looking at either side of the street, she decided to walk down the middle of the entire street and go wherever her feet took her...
