So I was sitting on the internet talking away and doing some work and the light in my bedroom had gone out! I thought the bulb had blown so as I stumbled over to switch on my bed side lamp I noticed the clock was out…..we had had a power cut. So as a laugh we all went outside into the courtyard with torches and had a laugh…but after the first hour had past the fun wore off and we started to get cold so we went in….but alas I could not have a cup of tea!
So everyone goes back inside, we order a take away sing a song on the guitar and have a laugh….but then hour 2 of the power cut flew by and we were starting to get pissed off. Hour 3 came and we decide to go to bed, so with 1 torch between 5 of us it was a slow process of taking it in turns! And just as we were in bed and drifting off into the land of nod rapid banging started on the door. At first I thought it was a dunked idiot mucking about…but it continued and continued and then shouting happened….so after stumbling to open the door to the flat there was a student rep telling us that we were being evacuated.
So I am now sitting in the library at almost 2 in the morning…with lectures all day starting in erm….6 hours time and I am shattered. But with over 500 people in here it is rather noisy and full and everyone is rather edgy. So instead of joining the complaining masses at the security desk I thought I would rant at you guys, and how this is one uni experience I will not forget even through I want to!

Power cuts? You think that's bad!? Here we have what you call load shedding where the electricity company, *shakes fist* intentionally cuts the power to certain areas at certain times. Like to the main on/off ramp to the busiest highway in the city in peak hour traffic causing absolute chaos or like when they cut the power to where I live at 19:25 when GREY'S ANATOMY starts at 19:30 and then turn it on again at 20:20 which is useless!!! So not having power here is nothing, actually having is an accomplishment.
And don't worry about the ranting. It's good to do and loads of fun. See, I just did it too! hehe

Ok I agree that really does stink about them purposely cutting power, and that you miss TV is even worse!!!! But we were all asleep….why kick us out if we were all asleep! I do not care if someone sets fire to the building…at least I would be asleep and not in a bloody library full of everyone in Roeburn hall….most of whom are drunk!

Thanks for that Leigh hahaha!
We were let back out again 6 and I forgot to turn off my alarm so it went off at 7! I managed to get to sleep again but sort of forgot about my lecture until it was almost time….but luckily I could not be bothered to change into my PJ’s so I just fell out of bed and ran to lecture haha!
By the looks of it a lot of other people did the same too hahaha!

No I did not......all the drunks stayed mainly on the ground floor cause they could not make it up the stairs. Some ventured into the lift but then they went to the third floor. I found out today that if you wanted to sleep then the 4th floor had been selected for that but to be honest it was waaaaay to noisy to get a good nights sleep and you were always on the listen out for the call that we could return to our beds haha.
2 of my flat mates had been out but one dropt off to sleep rather quickly under a table and another one sat around all night moaning that she could not change her shoes. hehehe it gave us some entertainment!!!

Seeing people who are normally laid back and relaxed freak out is actually pretty funny to watch, lol.
I'm using a bloody Mac!! The keyboard is so strange, I have to type so slowly...

My keyboard is possessed on another site...I have no control over the space button and when I tried to post in the little quick post box my computer pretty much had a seizure...I was actually frightened
Sucks about the evacuation business...the worst we've had at rez is some fire evac rehearsals...I had a class during both of them...so I missed out unfortunately.......
Someone did something in the building next to us though and 6 firetrucks arrived...we were coming back from the bar...it was interesting...lol...we had fun...had a chuckle...waved at the friendly fireman...

I have had the fire truck too hehehe. I was in bed when the fire alarm went off so we all got kicked out in the freezing cold! The fire trucks came zooming in and all the peeps were kited up in there full fire suits and what had happened was some idiots had sprayed air freshener in the corridor and it set the alarms off haha! They got a huge fine of £200 and we all got shouted at not to do things like that hehehe. So we have a huge list of things we can not do in the corridors haha like ironing hahaha!
That is well strange what is happening to your keyboards….luckily fine is alright…I hope it does not do anything stupid otherwise I will die!!!

There's nothing wrong with the keyboard, it's just I don't like Mac computers!! I'm a PC man through and through Windows for me! And this is after using a Mac as well so no Biasism here! ^_^

I'm using an HP laptop...Mac seemed too technologically advanced and expensive for me...I like my laptop...it's just possesed and does things I can't explain...I accidentally switched it to a french keyboard as well once...couldn't use my question mark button...it became a e with an accent...lol...twas interesting
Only 200 pounds...bah...if you set off the fire alarms in our rez, and it wasn't something that wasn't controllable....you pay 500 CDN dollars per firetruck and 4/5 usually arrive...I freaked out about for the first week because the ones in our room will go off if the steam from your shower reaches it...they're intense...
Speaking of dollars...I am crazy excited that the CDN dollar is actually worth more then the American(a whole 7 cents...lol) I just bought something online and I got 40 cents knocked off...I pretty much had a coniption fit....because that's what I do
I also feel like Gabriella because we're playing "hang-man" in rez...essentially people run around throwing a little ribbon thing around each others neck...only you don't know who's trying to kill you so I'm crazy paranoid and untrusting and always checking behind my back...tis good fun

The fact that you were fined for an accident that didn't even involve fire or smoke at all is absolutely riddiculous. Air freshner and steam?! I feel sorry for the guy that got that fine. And $500 per engine? I think I'd just not admit to it!
Yeah the Amiercan dollar certainly isn't doing too well, but who am I to complain? Two dollars to the pound! My family would be rolling in it if we moved over there.
