Toby Moran was usually the picture of calm, with a laid back and relaxed attitude to almost everything in life. Yet here he was running around the Hogwarts Owlery, shaking his fist in air and yelling 'OY!' every ten seconds, as the owl he was trying to use deliberately moved away from his grasp.
The owl in question was the latest addition to the Moran family. Though Tobe came from a muggle family, ever since his father believed that Tobe's Hogwarts letter was real, he insisted on bringing as much of the wizarding world (without looking suspicious to other muggles) to the Moran family.
It had taken his dad, and continous pleads from his little sister, the past year to convince his step-mum that an owl would be "only and best" way to keep in contact with Toby whilst at he was in school. The neighbours who now had been given the excuse of Tobe's "passion" for birds of prey, were less than impressed with the result of her giving in. The owl they had chosen, took immediately to Tobe's little sister, and apparently no one else. It refused to be quiet or deliver mail willingly to anyone but his sibling, which was proving a problem just now, as he attempted to send a letter home.
'Come here you daft bird!' He yelled again, suddenly making a large leap towards the owl. 'Gotcha.' The owl was now struggling to get away from his tight, but still gentle, grasp. He hooked the letter onto the birds foot, and released him towards the window. 'Now that wasn't so bad was it!' He yelled after him, running a hand through his hair, as he watched the owl fly away from the castle.
You would never hear Tobe call the owl by a proper name, it was always simply 'owl this' and 'owl that'. That was because he had made the foolish mistake of letting his little sister chose a name for his new pet, and 'Tinkerbell' had never exactly been the height of cool.
