Smirking at the young girl's attempt at solid eye contact Fagin glared back, wishing he had the power to bore holes with his eyes. "Fine, apology accepted girl, though no answering back in future thankyou!" He declared glaring her down once more. "If he's so talked of then please fill me in on the wizarding views of him."

Tori looked down, "I don't know what the wizarding world thinks of him. My parents keep that hidden from me. They only tell me what they want me to know. I wish I did know," she said, defeated.

"Your parents keep it hidden from you?" he said his voice dripping with sarcasm, "have you never heard of the library child? It's where we intellectuals keep books, that's how you find out the answers, not from your parents!" he said incredulously "they're hardly likely to know all the answers now are they? Really, it's preposterous, if all your knowledge is based on your parents then I'm afraid you won't get far, do visit the library sometime, you may find it useful." Knowing he had perhaps overstepped the mark with that outburst he said now a tad more kindly "But you're in school to learn so don't commit suicide please, your fellow students don't need your death on their concience." Chuckling to himself he awaited a proper answer.

Mike walked into the classroom trying to keep his lateness to himself, sneaking in quietly looking as he was 'talking' with Tori, his back to Mike, Mike smiled quickly at Tori but not watching where he was going tripped over a chair. "Well there goes my sneaky entrance" he muttered.

Tori gasped and stiffled a laugh, "Are you ok?" she asked Mike quietly, kneeling down by him. She grabbed his hand in attemp to help him up once he steadied himself enough. Tori quickly looked back at Professor Fagin, then back at Mike as if not caring what the old guy said or did.

As Loren approached the Muggle Studies classroom she could hear an onslaught of yells and put downs, mostly likely from the famously harsh Professor Fagin. Looking at her watch quickly Loren saw that she was only mildly late, but knew that it would probably be a good enough reason for detention in the professor's eyes. Making sure her face was already fixed with an apologetic look, Loren swept into the classroom and went straight for the nearest seat, half her books and quills spilling out upon landing. Timidly she looked upon Professor Fagin.

Fagin looked astounded as not one but two people strolled in late, though thankfully the last one had the grace to look somewhat apologetic. Furious about the disruptiosn to his class he waited until their antics were over mulling over in his mind what his latest outburst would consist of. Having laughed loudly at the lad falling over as he had probably been trying to sneak in without his noticing he chuckled evily and strode over to his desk, slamming a curled fist down onto the table with enough force for the lad's few belongings to bounce off. "Why are you late?" he asked his eyes flashing "no matter whatever answer you give won't be satisfactory. Now would you like a detention for your lateness and disturbance of my lesson? Or would you rather disgrace your entire house by having, let's say 20 points taken off?" Smirking at the shocked visage before him now he waited moments more savouring the fear he had produced. Just as the lad worked his dry mouth to answer he shouted "But answer enoguh quetions correctly and you may just save yourself." Striding away before the boy could answer he pounced on the other late arrival. "5 points for being late, and oh another 5 for the mess, clean it up." he grated simply allowing another evil smile to glide across his features. striding back once more to the front of the classroom he said calmly "now I'll have to start from the beginning again, it's such a shame you'll all be loosing your lunchtime now." Laughing at the moans and groans that were quickly stifled from the class he continued "We were having an avid discussion on the antics of our dearly beloved Richard I, so far we have two sides to the strong argument, one that he was foolish along with most from the time period, the other that he was the best king we've had, is that fairly summed up there?" He asked the girls who had entered first, expecting a prompt reply of yes sir. "But what you all need to know is the wizarding view of this volatile time period, before I give you the answers, can anybody shed more light on the wizard's thoughts of this King?"

Emily looked at her watch, which she wore at all times. It reminded her a bit of home. She realized she was really quite late for her first class and sped up a little. She heard an older voice that she supposed was the teacher as she neared the classroom. He sounded rather crabby. She wiped her brow with her sleeve, it was bad enough she was nervous for her first class! Now she was late, and the teacher didn't sound all that friendly.
Hurriedly, she stepped into class, nearly bumping into a table. Quickly, she found a seat at the back of the class, all the while staring at the floor.

Fagin raised his eyebrows in consternation, another latecomer he thought furiously the whole lot are imbeciles, can't even get to their lessons on time. Glaring furiously at the new arrival who by the look of her thought she had managed to sneak in without his noticing. "late!" he shouted advancing menacingly on the latest arrival. Doesn't even dare to look at me either!" he stated with a hint of pleasure in his voice "I will not take anymore interuptions, is that clear?" Expecting the words crystal clear to resound around the room, he was somewhat disappointed when nobody would dare speak. "Detention girl, report to my office this evening, you'll be joining this lucky lad here," he smirked jabbing his finger at the only boy present. Beginning to stroll back to his vacant desk he snarled "Now, what did the infamous Derrick Gorb think of Richard I? Eh? Come on I'm giving you a huge clue there." He sat down heavily upon his comfy armchair at the front of the cowering students assembled before him, and wondering why he always got the thick class.

Emily jumped a little in her seat as the professor shouted. Keeping her eyes on her feet as he advanced, she stuffed her fists into her robe pockets nervously. A detention! She had a detention! She was about to grumble about it when she thought better of it. What good would that possibly do?
As the teacher posed the question, she took her hands out of her pockets and opened her Muggle Studies handbook, trying to find an answer. Failing to find any hint of one, she replayed the question over in her head. Now, what did the infamous Derrick Gorb think of Richard I? Fagin said he had given a clue. She thought the question over again. Infamous. Was that it? Did Derrick Gorb think lowly of Richard I, and perhaps something happened to him because of it?
Emily rolled that though around for a bit, and was close to deciding not to say anything. She didn't want to look stupid. But then again, what could it hurt? She supposed it was possible that Fagin would take points off for a wrong answer, because he seemed like that kind of person. But maybe not.
She raised her hand, unsure if she should voice her answer without doing so.

Looking satisfactorily at his victim, he smirked as she squirmed. Tapping his fingers lightly upon his armchair letting the light drumming resound around the small space. He glared around but nobody dared raise their hand, or so he thought. Until the latest arrival hesitantly raised hers. "Yes!" he barked impatiently ignoring the fact that she had the decency to raise her hand. He hoped she may supply him with the answer he wanted.

The Ravenclaw flinched as Fagin snapped. Hopefully he wasn't always like this, but she supposed he was.
Lowering her hand slowly, she cleared her throat and and began to answer. "Ehem, uh, was it that Derrick Gorb thought lowly of Richard I, a-a-nd perhaps something h-happened to him because of it?" She finished quietly, aware she had been stuttering a little. She wiped her sweaty palms on her robe.

Exasperated Fagin wondered when the lesson would eventually end. As the girl babbled he listened intently and supposed her answer was probably quite satisfactory in other lessons, but his was important. "Was I supposed to hear that over the stuttering?" He exclaimed harshly "You shouldn't be afraid or nervous of anyone girl, cept me of course," he laughed gruffly. "Your point is valid, 5 points for it, though facts would be nice. It seems none of you have the brains nor wit to answer, therefore I shall put you out of your misery, only because I myself am bored of your incompetence." Drumming his fingers to the beat of his words he began "Derrick Gorb was thought of by many as a capital fellow, a real entrepreneur for the blasted medieval times, wizards were having countless battles with Giants, though I'm sure you'll learn of that in History of Magic if your teacher is as good as I!" He said sarcastically knowing they all hated him with a passion. "Now he had an avid interest in the Muggle world, something very few of us has these days, you may be thinking he was Norman, on the contrary, even with such a name he was in fact Saxon, hard to imagine I know, the wizarding community wasn't thriving in those days of course, witches in particular were burnt at the stake as you should all know." Hoping his students were interested in this topic he continued in a quieter voice "now Derrick was a loyal supporter of John you see, yes indeed he picked the wrong side in the end," Seeing the class were now interested he said simply "to cut a long story short he was hung for High Treason." Savouring the groans from the class he continued "Now you'll need to develop this answer on why Muggles used such a contraption as the noose? to be done quietly in class now. Then for homework you are to complete the following question why didn't Derrick Gorb escape? There are a number of possible reasons so please go through them in some detail." With his long speech now finished he settled himself deeper into his chair.
(ooc a short written answer will get lots of points)

Despite sinking a tiny bit lower in her seat and avoiding eye contact with Fagin, Emily was actually listening intently to the lesson. Intently that is, until Fagin decided to cut the story short. *Figures,* she thought, listening for the work.
She pulled out a piece of parchment and her quill and tried to think of answers to the question, but none came. It was bad enough Fagin seemed to think they were morons, but now she was proving him right.

Loren's cheeks burned an ugly crimson, and grinding her teeth together she grabbed the few split books and stuffed them back in her back with a violent jerk. That was so unfair! I well, next time I won't hurry and then I won't slip up! She thought scathingly, slumming down in her seat and crossing her arms with a childish expression. She had been so self-indulgent in her annoyance that she was completely missed anything the professor said - only catching a few words about 'Derrick Gorb', whoever that was. Although Loren had been raised as a muggle, she was not all that interested in history.
Another Ravenclaw girl she briefly recognised from her Charms lesson sat across from her. Loren gave her a small wave.
