Ah Christmas, such a wonderful time of year. Full of presents, and candy, and best of all- no work! This was definitely one of the largest holidays celebrated at Hogwarts. It was surprising that many students had stayed behind this year, instead of going off to visit their parents. Gabriel happened to be one of these.
He had been planning to return home..until he found out that no one was going to be there. Alice was going off to her fiance's house, Collette was staying in Romania, and his parents -- finding out that no one would be home -- had planned a vacation for themselves. So Gabe was stuck here, with all the other students who were ditched by their family as well.
It wasn't so bad, he supposed. There were other Gryffindors to keep him company. Speaking of which, where had all the bugger gone anyway? He was left, all alone, in the common room. Now that was just weird, considering this place was almost always buzzing with commotion.
Gabriel lounged on one of the couches, with his arm slung across the back. Christmas Eve, and no one was here to keep him company. Now, any logical person would ask, why not just get up? But, getting up would involve movement, and after that he would actually have to go find some people. Why look like an idiot wandering around the halls when he could just wait for a Gryff to come? It was nearing night anyway, so they had to come here to sleep.
He would just wait then, all alone, until someone came to brighten up his boring day. With a small grunt of annoyance, Gabe rested his head back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling. Come on.

Holidays.
The word that brought bell's to Gwen's ears. It meant no time spent at home with the over-protective parents, loads of presents from her loved ones, and best of all... no classes. It was a Parker tradition to go on a cruise every Christmas, but this time, Gwen had opted out of it. She was tutoring over the break which left her stuck at Hogwarts with her fellow 'holiday ditchers'.
The things that students did around the school when classes were on hold. She had walked through a gang of obnoxious Slytherins as they picked on a young first year, tripped over a clutz of a Hufflepuff, was smarted off by some Ravenclaw and was whistled at by some wanna-be Gryffindor jock. How fascinating. Gwendoline was starting to wish she had taken up the cruise. If Gwen wasn't the sweet, innocent girl she was (or wasn't) she'd be waist high in ocean water right about now. Yay.
So far, the common room seemed like the best place to get away from this madness around her. She would've gone to the room of requirement, but it was preoccupied by face sucking Ravenclaws. What a pleasant sight... Sometimes she wondered if those two ever came up for air; every time she saw them, their tongues were pretty much stuck or something. Shaking the sight out of her mind, she continued her way to the Common Room.
The door swung open and she glanced around. The room was filled with... just Gabe apparently. The poor boy was sitting on a couch staring at the ceiling. She raised an eyebrow and glanced around once more only to see her eyes were telling the truth. Were they the only two Gryffindor's in Hogwarts for the holidays? God, I hope not. It wasn't that she didn't like the boy, because she did, she just didn't know him that well.
Gwen plopped herself down next to the blonde and mimicked his position so she, too, was staring up at the ceiling. "What are we looking at exactly?"

Bored. Bored. Bored. Bored. Bored. Bored. Did I mention Bored?
Why didn't his sisters come home anyway eh? They loved Christmas for Merlin's sake! Alice loved to toy with his hair and squealed as she showed him the new outfits she had gotten for him. Collette liked to show him all the scars she would get from the dragons and how much tanner she was compared to him. And his parents would just sit by and watch, smiling and laughing as usual.
Sigh.
But wait, what was this? A creak of the portrait, the small sound of footsteps. Could it be? Yes, yes it was! Another person! Ah, Gabriel could've jumped up and hugged the person on the spot..but that would just be more than slightly awkward, so he remained seated.
The couch squeaked slightly as Gwen took a place next to him and tilted her head back as well. He couldn't help but smirk at her comment. "I'm just waiting for a hole to open up in the ceiling and suck me up into some place much more fun than this."
Gabe shifted his arm so Gwen wouldn't be laying her head on it, he was starting to lose feeling in that arm anyway. "Your parents ditch you for the holidays too then?"

Gwen figured Gabe would be able to get her mind off of the cruise, the sun, the... guys in Hawaiian print swim trunks. How she was starting to regret her decision more and more. How she would kill for a nice copper tan right about now, she was starting to look pale. Turning her head in Gabriel's direction, she found a smile play its way across her features. "What could be more fun than Hogwarts?" Of course, she was being sarcastic. The castle was anything but fun right now. She too, was waiting for something interesting to happen.
Yes, she was bored. Yes, she'd rather be doing anything but sitting in the Common room with Gabe, but here she was and here he was. What a great opportunity to get to know each other a little better (or was it?). Eh, what the hell. She had gone to Hogwarts with the boy for five years now and still knew nothing about him other than his name and year.
She leaned forward a little so Gabe could get his arm out better. She hadn't meant to lean on it or anything it was just there... in her way... in plain sight. Awesome explanation, Gwen.
"You could say that. They're on some fancy cruise in the Caribbean or somewhere close to there. I could've gone, but I'm supposed to be tutoring someone."
Gwen looked back up at the ceiling and sighed. "What I wouldn't do for something tropic right now."
That statement gave her an idea. If she couldn't go to the beach, why not bring the beach there? Sure, the common room would be filled of sand, but it wasn't something a cleaning spell couldn't take care of. It seemed like a great idea in the girl's mind, she just needed to convince Gabe. She wasn't sure how her plan was going to work out, she wasn't a Ravenclaw after all, she was a Gryffindor. What she considered fun was stuff that came out of the blue, nothing planned, nothing clean or organized.
"Since we're both stuck here in this place, why not spice it up a bit? I'm thinking Hawaiian Theme or something."

It was obvious that the place Clarissa should be at, rather than still at school, was the Lemont castle tiding things up, fighting with her half-sisters and then flirting with all the cute guys there. Yes, that's where she should be right about now but her mother wrote to her and commanded her to stay at Hogwarts and continue getting situated and making friends. She denied her youngest daughter the right to spend time with her family on Christmas because Madelaine herself had to move. It was ridiculous and pretty much put her in a bad mood. Well, it would if it wasn't the holiday season and everyone was gay with the fact that happiness floated in the air and presents were everywhere.
It was too happy of a time for her to throw a hissy over not getting to gloat about the prettier dresses she got than Callie because she had the better shape. Sadly, she'd be spending it by herself but hopefully her parents would send in her presents. If not, then she could use her perfected skill of pouting on them all and get pity presents. Hm, did she know no shame? She ought to work on that, selflessness seems to be a viable asset in Hogwarts. 'Those quaint little shy girls being so adorable. Just making my life more difficult.' She thought with a little smile as she pushed open the portrait of the hideous woman and stepped into the Common Room.
Wow, a whopping two people in on Christmas Eve. Guess they were all taking every minute they had with their nasty inter-house relationships. That's alright, they all had to come in some time before all the professors got out their whips -- metaphorical one, of course -- and sent them here anyway. It was highly unlikely that only 3 Gryffindors had to stay at school and have a little friend Christmas.
'Your parents ditch you for the holidays too?' Clarissa couldn't help but smile at how similar that was to her only they didn't ditch her, they just banished her. "That's real depressing, where's your christmas spirit?" She said as her greeting before taking the seat on the other side of the boy. Hm, what a gigalow, a girl for each side.
Then she smiled at the other girls comments about bringing the beach--a lousy one, though, not as beautiful as the banks of Marseilles--here and she couldn't help but laugh. "I wouldn't mind a bit of imaginary sun myself," not that she'd tan at all, "But wouldn't a bit of fake snow be better for this holiday?"

"Cruise? Bugger, why are you still here then?"
Gabriel grinned at her and laughed, nudging her side lightly. "Only kidding, tutoring is important..I guess." The poor girl, she was stuck here with some kid instead of being off in a beautiful cruise. Sknowing Gabe, he probably would've made up some excuse for the kid so he could go on the cruise. Heck, invite the kid if he must! Just as long as he got to the tropics.
Hawaiian theme? And how exactly were they going to do that without getting busted by someone? Surely people would start asking questions if they saw sand rolling out from under the Gryffindor common room door. Although it would be funny to see the looks on the professors faces.
Someone else entered the room, and Gabe immediately recognized the voice. "And a hello to you too Clarissa. My Christmas spirit is on vacation at the moment, with the rest of my family. Care to leave it a message?" He grinned up at her as he said this.
Girls on either side of him, certainly reminds you of someone doesn't it? Gabe shifted again to put both his arms on the back of the couch. See? Now there was no favoritism to either girl. "There's enough snow outside, I don't think we need anymore. All this snow is starting to get me depressed."
