Aurora stepped into her classroom and looked around. This was her new place of work. She listened to the silence for a moment as she looked around at all the posters and pictures of dragons and she had all the way around the walls of the room. She could never stand just a boring plain undecorated room.
She left the door open and walked to the front of the classroom and tapped the chalkboard with her wand. Words suddenly sprang up against the black surface.
Come in, sit down, and wait quietly for class to begin.
She couldn't help but feel a little out of place here. She had never really dealt with children much, unless they were family. Walking over to her desk she sat down and looked up at the clock and saw that the students should start walking through the open door at any time.

Sarie walked into Dragonology. She didn't know what was going to happen. She took a seat in the front row. She was the first to arrive. She pulled out all the stuff she would need. She saw the Professor.
She opened her book and wondered who's was going to show up. Bitting her lip she looked toward the door.

Merlin walked into the classroom. He saw that he was the second student to get here. He sat next to the Gryffindor girl. He couldn't wait.

Erys had been waiting forever for this class to start, ever since the start of the year. Dragons were friggin' awesome! They were deadly, powerful, majestic creatures. Her favorite type of beast so far. So, slinging her bookbag over her shoulder, the Slytherin meandered down the halls to get to class, finding the door with ease. Entering with a graceful stride, her eyes met the instructions on the board and she couldn't help but grin. Well, this must be one proper lady. She thought to herself as she took a shadowy spot a the back of the room, retrieving a fresh piece of parchment along with her raven-feather quill and ink jar. Scrawling her name on the tope corner in a beautiful script, the seventh year glanced up from her work, hoping more of her house would arrive.
They had better, too, Erys was tired of gaining most of the points for her house. If Slytherin was going to be on top with the house cup this year, she needed backup. Maybe Joshua was in this class? Looking around the room lazily, she noticed she was the third student to arrive, apart from the Sarie girl and a Hufflepuff she didn't recognise. My, he appeared eager. Licking her lips, amused, Erys stretched, expectant. She would have said hello, but decided against it, seeing as the message on the board was pretty clear on what the woman wanted of everybody. Peace, politeness, and order, right? Good luck. Something always went wrong.

I mean, everyone can attest to the fact that dragons are fricken wicked, Veata thought herself as she slipped into the class. So taking a class on is just as wicked. She had been convincing herself that this class was a good one to take for a long long time now, wondering in silence if attending made her a complete loser. But, she had come to the conclusion that with her childhood nickname and the dragon her father had gotten carved into her wand, in his honor, she would attend. And that, for some reason had put her in a strangely upbeat mood, happier than she normally was.
A huge grin slid across her face when she saw Erys. Double score. Her best friend was taking Dragonology too! "Hey hey hey," Veata called happily, skipping over and sliding into the seat next to Erys, her smile slipping off her face when she noticed the board. Quietly. Crap, well she had messed that up, hadn't she?
"Sorry," she whispered to the professor and fellow students, trying hard not to giggle. She shifted awkwardly in her seat, her face slightly flushed, setting her books gently on the desk, hoping not to disturb the class any more than she had already. Nudging Erys with her elbow, she smiled at her. Weird that they had both picked this class without consulting each other.

Post by Narcissus Drachen on Aug 31, 2007 0:34:24 GMT
The narcissistic dragon licked the pad of his thumb, dragging it along the graze of chalk under quietly as he walked through the classroom door like a projection, unexpected, the flames of two candles bleeding wax over the floor, extinguishing. Two innocents, like cherubs, watched nothing as they sat side by side right in front of the pale eyed and mediocre professor, and further back, draped like lioness in their seats so lean and supreme were Erys and Veata, sisters of circumstance.
Narcisuss’s chalky thumb brushed the sprung canvas of a portrait linging the walls, a copper haired priestess swinging a sword at a Galapagos Greyback turning to wonder who had lifted the hem of her skirt. He ignored her with playful eyes. ‘Well this is new,’ he declared, raising his chin toward the professor before he sat down, his eyes passing over everyone. 'Is this all we're going to do?'

Erys watched with mild enthusiasm as Veata arrived, wondering with a greater amount of curiosity where her friend had been hiding this past.. Ever. She hadn't seen her once during the holidays, and weeks before the end of third term. Part of her assumed she had just up and died or something, maybe transferring to another school. Though she really couldn't imagine V at Beaxbatons. Now that would be funny. However amusing it was, the Slytherin couldn't deny the relief she felt after seeing her friend again. Her first, after coming to Hogwarts.
"Hey." Erys whispered with a grin, "Where have you-" Pausing her question to stare at the newcomer - a fellow Slytherin who was really attractive, one might add - she gestured her chin towards him, glancing back at Veata now with a questioning look in her now-amber eyes. Whos the new guy? Quickly cutting off the curious expression, the animagus felt a quick pang of guilt in her chest. She shouldn't do that, her and Joshua were too close for that.. Well, they hadn't exactly told each other their affection's, but.. Well, Erys couldn't think about anybody the way she thought about him. There was no doubt about that.
Deciding now to get back to their current conversation, she shifted so her torso faced her best friend. "Where have you been?" Veata was still single so far as she knew, she could go for him if she wanted. Agreeing with this, she tapped her long fingernails against the desk for a short while, only slightly interested as to who this new person was. He was a new addition to the Slytherin ranks, but that didn't cut him of his duties. He was to help his house win, or else his future here wouldn't look too bright. Harsh, yes, but she thought that of everyone. Including herself.

Aurora's eyes scanned the room, taking a moment to examine each student. Many appeared to be behaving decently, much to her surprise, since she hadn't really expected much out of these students. However, there was a small group of Slytherins, who appeared to believe that what was written on the board was just suggestions. A look of annoyance had surfaced on her face as soon as she had heard the voices.
Her eyes narrowed a bit as she looked at the group and cleared her throat to gain there attention. "Perhaps, you three," she said looking from one to another as she spoke. "believe that the directions on the board are optional. But let me assure you, they are not." She put emphasis on the word not. One thing Aurora would not tolerate from her students was disrespect.
"So, I suggest, that if you do not wish to start this new year out by losing points for Slytherin already, that you follow my directions." She looked at them for a moment judging their reactions. "And if you do not like that, then feel free to leave my classroom now." She looked up at the clock the annoyance in her face fading some. Turning from them to the other students she said, "Class will begin shortly. If you would wait patiently...and quietly." She shot a look at the group of Slytherins as she finished.

Sarie had jumped sightly when the Professor had spoken. She looked at the group of Slytherins she had been lecturing. Sarie knew it would not be a good idea to cross this teacher. She bit her lip. She began to play with her notebook trying. Get rid of the gritters.

Adrian hesitated outside the door, not sure if he should go in or not. He loved dragons, they were fascinating creatures, but he still wasn't sure about this class. Finally making up his mind, he strolled into the room with a smile on his face. He nodded to the Professor, and seeing the words written on the board, quietly took a seat up front. He sat down, and cupping his chin in his hand, looked around the room. There was a Gryffindor, and a couple of Slytherin's, as well as a fellow Hufflepuff present. Wow... small class he thought to himself. Gee, ya think? replied the ever so sarcastic voice, that only he could hear. The walls were covered in posters and pictures of dragons. Which of course seeing as this was Dragonolgy, it seemed to very appropriate decor.

Veata watched with narrowed eyes as some other Slytherin pulled up, looking ever so handsome in his robes. Raising one eyebrow, V shot him a slightly amused look, before turning to face Erys, and continuing to ignore him again as if he were nothing more than gum she had briefly stepped in. "I've been... around," she whispered, her statement bare and vague. The way she liked it. Then, to avoid further questions and prodding, she turned to unscrew her bottle of ink and pull a long quill from the inside of one of her books.
Her movements became slow and tight as the new professor spoke, and V paused, licking her lips. She hated teachers like this, thinking they were almighty, and demanded respect without even earning it. Without even trying to give it to her students first. With V, you had to treat well to be treated well. Finally lifting her eyes from the half-unscrewed lid of her ink bottle, V looked up, meeting the professors gaze just as she turned to shoot the group of Slytherins a glare.
Ohhh, someone's holding a grudge, she thought distastefully, her eyes trailing over the professors back, silently wishing the hag could have at least asked politely ONCE, without threatening them with being docked points or kicked out of the class. I hope you get fired, her mind screamed, but she kept her lips tightly closed, and finished unscrewing her bottle of ink.

Pixle stepped into the classroom a bit distracedly. She hadn't originally put the Dragonology class on her timetable, and was already beginning to regret her last minute choice. Towards the back of the classroom were three sour-looking Slytherins, and at the front were a couple of older Hufflepuffs and a Gryffindor who she thought was in her own year.
Not a single other Ravenclaw.
She sighed slightly as she looked at the chalkboard, This is already looking bad for me she frowned a bit, remembering the last time she'd been in a 'Please be quiet' class. It had given her a horrible headache; the students had gotten irritated and started yelling at each other, the professor had docked points until she couldn't take anymore from any of the houses and shortly after resigned due to stress related illnesses, not to mention the horrible pranks which had been played on her ever after the class.
It had been dreadful.
It only took her a moment to find a seat however; the room was just less than empty. She sat down in the farthest right chair in the middle row; hoping she'd be far enough away from any of the other students that she wouldn't get caught in the crossfire of anything that might unfold in this class. Being that it was Dragonology she could only imagine the havoc that had chance to develop. Especially with a Slytherin majority populating the students in the room. I am going to die. was the recurring thought that spun through her head as she readied her note-taking supplies, hoping the class would start soon and that things would not evolve in this class the way they had in her last less-than-silent lecture study.

Rolling her eyes at the typical Veata answer, Erys pried open her ink jar, following her friend's eyes over to the glaring professor. Clenching her jaw to prevent a hiss, the animagus instead narrowed her eyes, wondering who pissed in her cereal this morning. If it weren't for the fact that she deeply desired Slytherin to get the house cup this term, then she might've decided to speak up about how rude she thought the teacher was being. Typical attitude, a lady just as prejudiced as the other houses. The only person who understood her - who taught lessons, of course - was Professor Gainnes, Ancient Runes. Now Erys actually liked her, she was very kind and thus received a polite miss from at least this student.
Instantly regretting taking Dragonology this year, Erys had been under the assumption that the professor teaching it was just as cool as the creatures they taught. I mean, come on! Not all the Slytherins were stuck up bitches. She, on one hand, could be defensive and mean if she wanted to, or if she was given a reason to. Why, she was civil to the other houses and even ended up partially befriending Ian Gray, a Gryffindor. These prejudices needed to stop, and now, or else Erys would give everybody a reason to have them. And thats not good dearies. But the seventh year decided to play nice for now, so the scaredy-cat Ravenclaw could relax. She could smell her fear from her seat at the back.
Grinning, Erys slid her tongue along her lips, taking another deep breath. Her cat's sense told her many things, including how close to wetting herself Pixle was. Why was she afraid? The Slytherin gave no reason to be afraid, did she? No, of course not. It was the damn prejudices again.

Girty looked down at her timetable, trying to remember what day it was and whether or not that meant she had the morning off or not. But to her slight disappointment and want to lounge around in the common room she saw she had in fact got Dragonology. Yes it would be interesting and she hoped fun Girty could not see how learning about Dragons would ever help her in her life as she did not plan to go looking for them, but Dan had insisted and there was not much she could do once Dan had made his mind up
After slowly making her way towards the lesson Girty soon found herself at the classroom door and was surprised to hear very little noise from inside. At first she wondered if she had actually go to the right room but as she pushed it open slowly and pocked her head around she saw the room was rather full with a rather stern looking professor at the front. Stepping further in Girty now took to look around for familiar faces among the students. There were a few 5th year Hufflepuff’s, a nice gathering of Slytherin’s, a Gryffindor she knew to be Sarie and the Ravenclaw she had also randomly once met.
Clicking her tongue as she tried to decided where to sit Girty knew that the only real option was to sit on her lonesome. It would give her time to work and think with out distractions and would stop her from talking, which by the looks of it was something this professor did not like. With a small smile at the teacher Girty slid into one of the desk a few rows from the back and pulled out her parchment and quill and waited.

Knocking once upon the door Vicky quickly slipped into the room giving a distracted little wave to all present; most didn't seem to notice. She really couldn't remember if Heidi was taking Dragonology too, and if she wasn't she guessed she'd be pretty lonely here; she was easy enough to make friends with true, only most people didn't seem bothered about meeting an eccentric Ravenclaw who didn't act all too like a Ravenclaw, particularly when with Heidi.
Eyes drawn inxtricably to the board she huffed a sigh of indignation, no talking, well how was she supposed to make friends here now? Ridiculous she really hoped the professor wasn't too much of a stickler for random rules, her class sounded fun, if only they met dragons and didn't just write about them like all other classes it could prove really cool. But Vicky had high hopes and expectations, which were rarely met by anything, she really needed to change her outlook sometimes.
Nearly running over to the sole other Ravenclaw she smiled happily at Pixle, knowing her vaguely from the common room, the year gap between them unfortunately kept them from being the best friends, but they still got along fine; Vicky had noticed how keen her cunning was. As she took out her usual equipment, plenty of quills, parchment and small rock to stop them from furling up constantly she whispered to her fellow Ravenclaw, "hiya Pest," she grinned barely moving her mouth so the teacher hopefully didn't notice or didn't care her offering a few pleasantries to Pixle. "Been up to anything daring recently?" She enquired with a twinkle of mischief in her eye as she poised herself with quill ready in hand to take her studious notes.
