Mark walked into the Library, not carrying many things. Not many things being a quill, some parchment and some ink. He knew his time for studying was running out, he also knew if he didnt study, Belle would be on his back saying stupid things like, "You have the brains! Use them!". Seriously, he didnt know how she could study more or less twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. She certainly would go far. Then again she was only a third year and anything could happen between now and then.
Ancient Runes. One thing Mark could honestly say he was good at. Though it never occured to him to go to the lessons, he only ever went to pick up his homework, the rest he could do alone. Solitude. It was how Mark had become lately. He found himself wishing sometimes he was back at Durmstrang, but by the sounds of their letters, it had become pretty much dull around there too.
He sat down with his equipment, and wrote his name on the parchment. Staring down at it he knew he had to fit as much information on this piece of paper as he could. Sighing he said to himself, "What do you know about Fehu Mark?" He spoke to himself. Writing Fehu on the top of his page. "Well its Runic Number is... One" As he was speaking, he was writing too, "The colour... Of the Rune... Is... Light Red and its... El-e-me-nt is... Fire and Earth. Polarity, I cant even pronounce that, well whatever its female anyway. The gods associated with it... Are Frey and Freja... " He put his quill to his chin, "Arent they the same person?"
"Okay, Alternative Names and Spellings... Anglo-Friesian... Slash.. Germanic is... Fehu. Norse, which if im not mistaken also means Viking, is Fe. And in the Old English Tongue its Feoh. Other names.. Slash, spellings are... Faihu, Fé, Feh and Feo. And you pronounce it as... Fay - Who"
Mark finished jotting that down and looked blankly at his parchment. It still seemed pretty much empty, and right now, he was cursing his small handwriting.
"Okay, the English Letter Equivalent is, F as in Fat and the Translation is, Money, Cattle and Wealth.. Hmph this isnt so hard"
Mark was smiling to himself as he seemed to be ploughing through his work.
"It means, Reward, Wealth and Nourishment, but the Reverse means, Failed Ambition, Health Problems, Poverty, Love Unrequited, and Bad Luck. Wheras the Converse is, Hidden Reward, Undiscovered Wealth and Nourishment Witheld. Characteristics of Fehu are, Realised Ambition, Good Health, Wealth, Love Fulfilled, Good Fortune. Fehu means cattle, a measure of wealth to the ancients. Fehu can mean emotional and spiritual riches. Now that my friend, is interesting."
"Okay, next thing.. Am i glad im nearly done. Oh yes. Many Tarot experts associate Fehu with The Empress and this does make a lot of sense considering the Empress stands for abundance, wealth, love and beauty. Freya is often seen as an Empress, which also ties her to Fehu"
"Last but not least. The Rune Poem, Verse I: Fehu Wealth is a consolation to all men, Yet much of it each men must give away If glory he desire To Gain before his God"

Arabella was walking through the library with a stack of books she could barely see over. She glanced around at the half empty room and shook her head. Apparently no one likes to study, she thought to herself. Arabella tried to think of any book she had forgotten when her foot suddenly caught the edge of a table sending herself, along with her books, flying foward.
With an extremely embarassing crash, Arabella's face turned a bright red. In a bit of a frenzy, she tried to collect her scattered books before she brought too much attention to herself. Realizing almost every student, along with the Librarian, was staring at her, she sighed and stood up.
Arabella ran a shaky hand through her hair as she took a deep breath and continued to pick up her books. She placed them on an empty table and took a seat. Arabella dug through her bookbag to find some parchment and her favorite quill, trying to make it seem as if she didn't make a complete fool of herself on her first day.
OOC: I know I'm not sorted yet... but I just needed to rp and since the library doesn't really indicate what house you should be in or whatever, I decided this would be a safe place to RP. Hope you don't mind that I joined.

OOC: Nope of course not
Trying to concentrate on Runes was a difficult thing, even in the silence of the Library it was almost impossible to keep your mind focused. One minor mistake could make interpreting Runes somewhat of a headache. Mark rubbed his temples as he finished his first Rune and was about to move onto the second one. Uruz, the second one. Though first giving his brain time to relax and think properly.
Just as he picked up his quill, a deafening crash sounded throughout the whole of the library. Now that was one thing that wouldnt help his mind settle, it was difficult enough Runes without earsplitting crashes. Turning around in time to see a blonde girl stood amonst a load of fallen books. Mark stood up and walked over, bending down to help her pick up the books, "You alright sweetie?" he asked, looking at her, his mouth fell open a tad bit, he was used to pretty girls, seeing as how is sisters were both pretty, but she was something else. Regaining himself he picked up another few books and smiled, "Dont worry about it, im a cllutz sometimes too you know"

Arabella gave a small laugh and nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just not used to this library yet. I had troubles finding all the books I needed and just when I thought I had it down, I become the amazing flying bookworm."
Arabella looked down at her books and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and looked back up at her. She quickly glanced at his table then back at him, "I noticed your doing a paper on Runes," she said, trying to make conversation and slightly blushing.

"Yeah i remember what it was like being the new boy around here, or girl in your case" He said picking up some more books, "I transferred here from Durmstrang last term. Its different but some of the people make the time spent here worthwhile" He told her. "Where did you come from?"
"Yeah, though its kinda hard when you cant concentrate, but im doing okay. I love runes anyway so its not really that difficult, but try and concentrate when things are happening all around you and it just kinda flys out of the window" He shrugged.

"Durmstrang, huh? I transferred from Beauxbaton Academy. I'm sorry if I interrupted your studying, I didn't mean to. It seems that tables pop out of no where these days," she said with a laugh. "I actually like Runes myself, though, I can't remember the last time I actually wrote a paper on them."
Arabella glanced into his eyes then quickly glanced away with a smile on her face and concentrated on a bookshelf for a moment. "So, um, I haven't exactly been everywhere on the grounds or in the castle, but what do you do for fun around here?" she asked, turning her attention back to him.

"Beauxbatons eh?" Mark spoke softly "My sisters went there, Alexis and Dyanneabelle. Though Alexis was always in the middle of a crowd. Hey, dont worry about it, you know how violent these tables can be" he said patting his own. "Things like to trip people"
"Well we were taught Runes from our first year in Durmstrang, they just kinda stuck with me. It was one lesson i actually bothered to turn upto" He shrugged, he wasnt a big lesson taker, and despised sitting in a classroom for more than a minute. "Well, some either relax by the lake, go into the forbidden forest and see what ceatures might chase you and try and eat you, or theres Hogsmeade. Quaint little village, kinda nice too"
OOC: Ill be back in 5 minutes

Arabella shook her head, "Too many risks in the Forbiddon Forest and I'm not to keen about swimming, I kinda don't know how," she said a little embarassed, "But I have heard great reviews of Hogsmeade and I'm actually thinking about going there soon. Though if I get lost and you don't see me for a while, please send a search and rescue team," she said with a laugh.
"Unlike you, I made it to every lesson I had," Arabella paused, "I just made myself sound like the biggest nerd ever," she said, her cheeks turning a pretty shade of pink.
OOC: Take your time lol

"Yeah but risks are part of the fun, you can go in there and not meet anything, though other times, you can go in there and you have to worry about whether your going to live to see the next day. Though you always do, if your careful and have your wits about you." He couldnt help laughing, the last time he had been in the forest was with a hufflepuff girl, Girty and they had managed to see more than what Mark had bargained for, he hadnt seen her since then. "You'll be amazed at how easy swimming is"
"Well maybe ill come with you one day and we can get lost together, getting lost with someone else is much better than getting lost on your own. That is, if you can handle much more of my company" he said with a laugh.
Mark felt a little ashamed at her slight stab, he knew he should take more time and effort in his lessons but in all honesty, studies wasnt one thing he really cared about. After all, you didnt need qualifications for what he was going to do when he left. "No no. At least it shows you have brains and want to do something with your life"

Arabella smiled, "I think I can handle your company more than you think," she said fiddling with her quill. "I didn't mean to make it sound like your a bad student or anything, in fact, if I had a choice, I'd skip a few lessons myself, but my mother keeps a close tab on my attendance and would probably kill me if I missed one without a proper excuse," she said with a shrug, "but you gotta love her right? I mean, she brought me into this world, she can easily take me out," she said with a laugh.
Arabella stared down at one of the books, "Infact, I'm not in the mood to study right now."

Mark grinned and rubbed his hands together, "Well thats good then! I thought you were beginning to get bored of me already!" He smiled, "Though i think i'll end up either boring you or annoying you so much before the day is out" He couldnt suppress a smile, he wasnt as bad as he made himself out to be its just he was very rarely serious about anything and a lot of people found that quite tiresome. "Na, its okay. I am a bad student i know i am. If i went now to any lesson other than Ancient Runes id be totally lost. No skin of my nose its just i know i wont be graduating from this place until im about thirty" he laughed, usual Mark, make a joke out of things. "Well thats what mothers are like if they know they have a brainy kid. Make them study until their heads explode an' all that. Though you do have to relax sometimes"
"Well, ive suddently lost my study appetite. Why dont we go down to Hogsmeade and get a drink or something?" Mark asked as he gathered up his things. "I can finish this essay later" Later being never as he knew it had to be in tomorrow, but he had been working on it for three weeks, or one would say putting it off for three weeks, and if the Professor asks why it isnt complete. Mark will simply say, I got confused

Arabella smiled, "I'd like that," she said about Hogsmeade. "If you want, I could help you out with your essay or any homework on that matter. You could think of me as your private tutor," she said with a smile, putting some of her books into her bookbag and leaving the rest on the table.
Arabella knew her mother would be upset that she blew off her homework for a boy but all she'd have to do was remind her mother of all the times she blew off her column for guys in the past.

"Well im glad you accept" He spoke with a smile, holding out his arm for her and trying to act like a little gentleman. Mark looked at her with a blank expression while he thought over her offer, he could do with the help in... well... all of his lessons if he had any hope of passing. "Yeah, thanks. I'd appreciate the help" though in all honesty he felt a little ditzy accepting help of a girl, this was something Maxi would really lay into him for, but as far as Mark was concerned, if she helped him pass, then it would all be worth it. And besides, she was kinda cute.
"Well, lets be off with us both then" he said, smiling at the Librarian who seemed to have been watching them both for qute some time.

Arabella smiled as she stood up, taking his arm. She glanced at the Librarian and wispered a polite "sorry". She really didn't mean for the library to become such a talkative place, but what was she supposed to do?
Arabella looked at Mark, "Hogsmeade it is then," she said softly, as not to upset the Librarian any further.

Mark smiled as she seemed to whisper a soft apology, though the Librarian didnt seem to mind very much of the chaos that just happened. She took his arm and he gave her hand a soft pat as the two walked out. "Dont worry about it, im sure she gets it all the time"
((Do you want me to start? Or you?))
