What Cristian had just witnessed had broken him. He was in pieces. Laney had cheated on him, he never thought she would. All the lies she told had broken his heart. As he slid his back down the huge door he had just closed from entering the castle, he burst into tears. He sat there for a while, hoping things would be okay. He decided he couldn't take it anymore, and was going to retire to bed, he just couldn't cope right now. Cristian ran up the stairs all the way to the common room to see Ash there.
He froze, realising he'd have to tell Ash, another heart to be broken within the space of a night.

Ash heard someone burst into the common room and looked up, he had been writing another song, yet for some strange reason, it wasn't for Maxi or Laney, it was for... Sunni. It was Cris. He seemed to be really upset. Ash frowned and set his guitar down, "Cris? What's wrong, what happened?"

Cristian felt so awkward. Not because of Ash, because he was friends with him, but because of the situation they were both in.
Tears still streamed down Cris's face, and he began to work himself up again.
"Laney cheated on me with Maxi. I saw them kissing in the forest" he blurted out, collapsing onto the seat near to Ash. He took a big breath and just sat and hugged his knees. He used to do that when he was a kid, when he felt unwanted or awkward.

Cristian looked up to Ash.
"Just now. They are probably still there" He said. He didn't know what else to say to help things for either of them.

Ash sank to the floor beside Cris and stared down at the floor, he couldn't believe this. After several long, agonizing moments he looked up, tears glistening in his brilliant sapphire eyes. "But why?" he whispered, his hands clenched, he stared down at the bracelet Laney had given him last year for his birthday, it was a simple black satin ribbon with his birthstone on it. With a sudden cry of rage he ripped it off and threw it across the room. "How could they do this!?" he screamed, and burying his face into his hands, started sobbing.

Cristian wasn't looking at Ash anymore, he was consumed in his own grief, but jolted his head towards him when he heard a rip and Ash screamed.
He panicked a little and sat down beside him and put his arm around him to help him. It was the least he could do, after all, if it was the other way around, Ash would do the same.
"I don't know, I can't believe she could do this to me, never mind to you. Everything was going okay, well, so I thought" he said, not sure of what else to say.

Ash leaned into Cris's embrace. "I can't believe it. I knew she had a crush on him, but I never thought she'd do something like this! I can't believe either of them!" He laughed bitterly, "I should've known this would happen! Maxi was right, it won't work out with us." He sighed, and said softly more to himself than to Cris, "I wonder if Sunni will still give me a chance?"

Ash made Cristian laugh when he laughed, although it was more of a quick chuckle before he wiped the tears away from his eyes.
"I don't see why not, you'll be better off without Maxi if he can do that to you" Cristian replied.
He thought for a moment about what actually happened in the forest, why did he bloody go? He should explain everything to Ash.
"I was looking out the astronomy tower window and I saw Laney run into the Forest. I wondered what was wrong, so I grabbed her jacket from in here and went down to find her. I went into the forest and saw them kissing. She was so heartless Ash, I couldn't believe it, she has no regrets about what she's done"

Ash sighed, "How do you know she's not sorry?" He couldn't believe that after everything he had just heard, he was still defending Laney! He scoffed, "Oh for the love of Merlin, what is wrong with me? How can I still be defending Laney after everything I've just heard?"

"I'm sorry man, I know she's your sister, but she's not just hurt me in this process has she?" he raised an eyebrow and places a friendly hand on Ash's shoulder.
He sighed to himself. He gave a smirk and a quick 'hmm' in laughter.
"This is a right mess ain't it?" he said. He was so stupid to give his heart to someone, and open himself up so quickly to someone. He promised himself he would never be so weak for someone to destroy him, but he had.

Ash sighed and shook his head, "I never thought she'd do something like this. I mean, I knew she was always strong-willed, but for her to pull a stunt like this? It just doesn't make sense."

Cristian just sighed again. He'd told Ash everything he saw that happened and couldn't think of anything else to say or do to help Ash or himself.
"I don't know" he replied.
"So what are you going to do?" he questioned, unsure of what he would do himself. He had to face it was over, but it would take time.
