Dan smiled at the Professor as she answered his question even if she did say very little it was sufficient enough to help him piece her personality together. Her answer had been flat and short and he could feel a tone in it which showed her determination to keep things to herself and for that Dan respect the woman. He would have to ask Girty about this professor and see if his sister had any inside, or for that matter outside information about the new Transfiguration teacher. These thoughts were pushed out of her mind again when she mentioned that he had not introduced himself yet.
“Begging your pardon that was very rude of me….I am Daniel Hubbles, Professor of Charms and Head of Hufflepuff house.”
Dan would have leaned over to shake her hand but seeing as they were already in conversation he thought that it was already not a traditional meting. So instead Dan reached into his robe and pulled out his wand and with a small flick he summoned a large pot of tea and a vast selection of cakes onto the small table in front of them.
“Might I be able to offer any of you some tea and cake?”

Mayella smiled at Dan and would have offered her hand for him to shake but it seemed he wasn't into, or found it too late, for a traditional greeting. "Nice to meet you, Daniel. I'm Mayella Reed, Transfiguration professor. But I seem to think you already know who I am." She said pleasantly, but also suspiciously.
May's hand instinctly went to her the pocket that concealed her wand as Dan drew her own, but she soon put it back in her lap feeling a little ashamed. It had become such a natural habit for her in the past years, that she didn't even think about it anymore. What a troublesome habit for a teacher to have, even during times of trouble. She cleared her throat a bit, but decided not to make a comment on it. If she was lucky, it went unnoticed by the other professors.
"Ah, I would like some tea, please." She said pleasantly, though she was surprised by his choice of drink. May didn't really take him to be the tea kind of man, since she swore she might have seen him in the Three Broomsticks before. But that wouldn't be something to ask, since she wouldn't be able to get around that she was the bar going type for a while. A fact of her life that she didn't really want to resurface since it came with rumours of her being an alchoholic. 'Hmph, those were always quite untrue. Cruel dogs of the ministry.'

Dan could not help but chuckle as May lightly brushed over the fact that Dan seemingly already knew who she was. Dan did know a lot of things, he listened to his Hufflepuff’s and what they had to say (particularly his sister) and so as a result knew about the other Professors and there lessons but he refused to let himself form opinions on what students had to say…they were always bias.
“It is very nice to met you Mayella….or can I call you May?”
Dan leaned forward with a cheeky smile and picked up the tea pot, carefully poured her a cup of tea. It was not however that he leaned over towards the sugar that he stopped himself. He was automatically going to make her the cup of tea how Dia always liked it…she was after all the only woman he ever made tea for. With a nervous laugh at himself Dan looked back up at the Transfiguration teach with a small smile.
“How do you like your tea Professor? Everyone has it differently…”
He looked on at her studying her face like he was trying to work out a puzzle, it seemed that just like him she was forming her own opinion of him. Judging him by his actions, words and simple gestures. For a moment Dan could have sworn he saw a flicker of recollection in her eyes almost that she was working out if they had seen each other before and for Dan that was normally the case from the long years of his life he had spent sitting in the many pubs in the wizarding worlds.

Sometimes teaching was hard work, it tired her out simply because she spent hours at night going over her lesson plans trying to give the students what they wanted. Especially with a class (tedious to some) like History of Magic. She had to do her best to make things lively and interesting. Again she was up late into the night and was now exhausted.
Figuring a few cups of coffee would do her good she made her way to the staff room. Upon opening the door she noticed Daniel and some others she wasn't sure of. Smiling she said cheerily "hello everyone nice day isn't it."
Grabbing the pot of coffee she immediately poured herself some, grabbed the milk poured that in to, and lastly two spoonfulls of sugar. Turning back around she took a sip, and when done she said "I don't believe we've met but I'm Victoria Potter." This was said to both as she made her way to one of the tables.

Dan was waiting for Mayella to answer his question about how she wanted her tea when he heard the door of the staff room open once again. Glancing up he saw a professor that brought a smile to his face. It had been a long time since Dan had seen Victoria and he was then happy to show his joy. Placing the tea cup down on the table and pushing himself out of his chair Dan and greeted her with a warm smile.
“Afternoon Victoria it is great to see you again.”
Dan was about to offer her some tea when he noticed her go for the coffee, with a soft chuckle Dan sat back down in his chair and reached forward for his own cup of tea sitting back and sipping on the warm liquid letting its sweet taste fill his mouth. He totally forgot about making Mayella her tea and his focus was upon Victoria. Dan remembered to a time before Dia when he and Vic got on well, he even thought her to be attractive at one point. After she had introduced herself to the other Professors Dan could not help but inquire after her a bit more, problem was he could not think of anything interesting to say, so instead he went for a bog standard question.
“So Victoria…how are you finding your workload this term?”

Hikaru smiled nervously as more people came into the room, and the conversation picked up speed. Standing up, he gathered his belongings and walked towards the front. "Well, it seems you're all aqquainted with eachother, and I must admit, I'm feeling a bit out of place. So, I will see you all later."

[ -had post block for this thread. ]
Mayella nodded slightly at Dan. "Ah, May would be just fine. And I presume you would prefer Dan over Daniel as well?" Then she frowned a bit after he fussed over her and her tea. She was rather used to being independant, as that was how her family worked, and would much rather do it herself. "Ah, that is true." She said with an indefinate answer on her tea, as May didn't really want to advertise her sweet tooth.
When she heard another teacher enter, she glanced up quickly to see if it'd be someone she recognized and had to do a double-take for at first she saw herself walking in. But instead, it was just a similar-looking teacher. "Wow." May whispered to herself before she greeted the other teacher. "Ah, a pleasure to meet you Victoria. I'm Mayella Reed, transfiguration."
Taking advantage of Dan's distraction, she lightly picked up the cup he abandoned and quickly dropped in three lumps of a sugar and a splash of milk, then brought it to her lips to lightly stirr it with her breath. She'd always drank her tea that way since she was a little girl, as unhealthy as it seemed.
As Hikaru took his leave, she lightly waved at him. "Sayonara, Hikaru. Don't over-work yourself."

Victoria was distracted by several things going on in the staff room at once. First and well to her foremost was Dan and his reaction to seeing her. That smile he wore when she walked in was for lack of a better word priceless. Vicky was slightly taken aback but she liked it. From the moment she had met him she found him attractive, enjoyed speaking to him and well thought that maybe just maybe...But there was someone else in his life so Vicky who was too much of a flirt backed away a little, being cordial when she ran into him in the hall. She wondered what the cause was. She decided to take his reaction with a grain of salt.
Next thing she noticed was the other gentleman in the room cleared out. She wondered what was up with that but chose not to say a thing.
Then the double take she took when she looked at the new professor, Mayella she said her name was. She could see people mistaking the two of them, Mayella with the pretty face and the beautiful dark hair. Vicky couldn't help but smile at her.
Moving with her usual grace she sat near Dan, why she didn't know she just did. First addressing Mayella she said, "It's great to me you too. Happy to have you aboard." Sipping her coffee she turned to Dan, one of her charming smiles sent his way, "Well the workload isn't as bad as I thought, I'm just trying to get the students more interested. History well in any world can be a bore. Just trying to find a way to liven things up." Crossing one leg over the other she asked, "So what about you?"

Dan found it strange how Hikaru stood up and left almost as soon as Vicky arrived, maybe he did not feel comfortable with a growing crowd of people but Hikaru had been very quite since he had joined the conversation, maybe he was just shy around strangers but the only thing that truly bothered Dan was that he had gone out the door before he could even say goodbye. This feeling of slight disappointment passed quickly as Vicky walked over towards him with a small grin on her face.
He paid slight attention as the two professors greeted each other trying to focus full on his tea, however there was only so much you could do when it came to tea that would be acceptable in such company (slurping it not being one of them) His attention was snapped back to Victoria when she answered his question and he nodded his head to show he was actually listening and gave a small smile when she mentioned about trying to make things fun. Dan always wanted to make his lessons fun as he always found that students learnt more that way, maybe it was because they were motivated to join in and did not dread pushing open the door to the classroom.
“I am getting through everything which is something I guess. My time seems to be send marking assignments and panning the next ones. Sadly not much room for a social life but you learn to get over these things I guess.”
Grinning back at Victoria Dan took another sip of his tea trying to keep himself under control. He did not want any unnecessary emotions to come out, he was working because he did not have a social life, no pub to go to and drown his sorrows only his work to put all his focus into. Downing the rest of his tea almost as if it was a glass of whisky Dan placed it down upon the table and looked up at Mayella.
“How are you finding Hogwarts then? Well apart from the Ministry take over.” Dan gave a soft laugh. He had not had a run in yet with any of the Ministry officials that wondered around the grounds but he did spent time in the Hufflepuff common room and listened with interest to his students tales of their run in with the law.

Vicky realized at once that she had gotten a bit more exited about Daniel's greeting than the situation actually warranted. It wouldn't be the first time that she misunderstood someone's reaction. He was just being friendly, and she saw what she wanted to see. If she were alone she would probably laugh at herself for being so silly, sometimes she was like a young girl again. Perhaps it was being back at the school that made it so, but whatever it was she had to reign it in before she did something to make herself actually look silly.
Daniel spoke of how he himself tried to make his classes more interesting for the students and she had heard tell of his latest lessons. Students were buzzing about it all over the place and she had to admire his imagination. "Yes I heard about you, you're the talk of the school. But you should make time for a social life, at least once in a while" she mused out loud. Though who was she to talk since she hadn't been out of the castle in quite some time.
As she was sitting there lost in thought Daniel addressed Mayella and Vicky was only half listening as she sipped her coffee thinking that perhaps she would take a trip into town make her way to the pub and have a few drinks just to let the stress out. Yes that sounded like fun to her.
As she refocused her attention on the others around her she heard Daniel mention the ministry take over. Vicky kept her thoughts on that to herself so she just sipped some more coffee.

Mayella quietly let them talk, for it seemed that her speaking would be quite out of place. After all, it seemed they were meeting after what she could only guess was a long absence from each other. Taking a sip of her tea, she stared with a bit of a smirk down at the table. Lessons, that reminded her, she needed to put the finishing touches on the plan for her next one. Not something she wanted to do, so of course she would procrastinate and sit here in the staff room as long as she could.
Smiling a bit, she remembered the few things she'd heard from the students about Professor Hubbles lessons, most of those students mostly being Bradyn and she had the impression that Dan was insane. 'Perhaps he's just a little bit biased, or blind.' Tapping her finger lightly on her cup, May looked up as she heard Dan talk to her. "Seems just the same as when I went a few years back." She said sweetly with a little smile, but that soon vanished as she heard the words Ministry escape his lips.
"Oh.. yes.. ministry members at Hogwarts.. quite annoying." She said, looking back down into her cup with a little frown. "Luckily, I haven't had a run in with one of the nastier ones yet." Or ones that recognized her, that was definitely a plus. Looking back up, realizing she had spaced out once again, May smiled at them both.
"You can not seriously think that you two are as antisocial as myself." She said, waggling her finger at them. "I haven't left the castle since I started teaching, and barely left my room at that." But of course she did have the excuse of needing to unpack and her anal retentive mind wouldn't leave her be.
[nicole's such a procrastinator. Someone should yell at her.]

Hannah had the biggest butterflies in the world. They were probably the size of large baseballs. Heck they now felt like large baseballs. Soon she would be teaching her very first class students staring at her with curious eyes wanting to learn from her no less. She just kept thinking tha she'd have nothing to teach hem and they would hate her. Even though her visions showed otherwise you could never truly trust the second sight. Futures changed all the time she knew that all too well. The fear thing was also bothering her because she hated feeling scared. She usually exuded so much confidence that she made others feel scared.
Perhaps a cup of tea would soothe her so she tried to find the staff room. It took a while it had been quite a long time since she'd been there. When she suddenly happened upon it she was relieved, until she walked in and noticed several other professors here. Two women and one man. Ah, so now she would have to be social it had been a while she wondered if she still had social graces.
Taking a deep breath she entered the room her bravado back full force. Placing the most dazzling smile anyone had ever seen on her face she uttered a cheerful hello to those congregated there already. "Hannah Edgecombe new Divinations professor" she said confidently, perhaps a bit too confidently, her nerves were getting to her but she refused to let it show.
Grabbing a mug and some boiling water she prepared her tea just the way she liked it then took a seat nearest the door not particularly next to anyone. She was hoping for calm but she wasn't getting it, taking her first sip of the tea she hoped it would help.
