There had been a moment yesterday afternoon where Narcissus had seen Echo alone in the Great Hall, the tables cleared, her hands raised over her head carefully, fingertips touching. Despite the distress of noise around him Narcissus had heard her shoulder crack, satisfactory and nimble. He’d felt content enough to want to stand and watch her dance like a stone’s splash in the river, but a boy’s palm – a palm Narcissus suspected to desire him – had pushed him gently back out with the tide. Such a friend. ‘Do I hear an Echo?’ He pondered, swinging his foot as he watched her sit down out of nowhere. ‘I was monster watching,’ he gestured toward the window. ‘When Erys and Victoria came to fawn over me. They’ve both made it perfectly clear I’m a bastard though.’ He grinned.
Sighs and hisses. Narcissus laughed behind his hand. ‘Will you teach me how to dance, Echo?'

As the slim boy sidled past and sank happily into an armchair Vicky grinned giving him another once over, he wasn't bad looking at all when she came to think about it, he had a different sort of attraction to others, not blatent good looks but decent ones to her overly ambitious mind. But then he spoke and the effect was frankly ruined once again, he had a very different way of speaking, one she found indescribable.
"Tactless?" She repeated with raised eyebrows, "I was simply stating what I've learnt from experiences, I can't help it that my experiences of men aren't exactly all rosy. Do you veil you insults then Narcissus?" She asked curiously sighing as he simply readied himself for rest. "Fine you can sleep if you want, you were so much more peaceful then."
Turning to Erys and frankly hoping she'd have much better luck with her, Vicky realised she was very near to making an enemy of her, she'd have to do something to turn around the situation quickly. "I'm sorry Erys," she said soothingly, in a surprisingly unpatronising way, "I meant no offense, I'd love to meet this Joshua, and don't worry I've no reason to even try stealing him cause I can guess you're thinking that, it'd be a waste as you'd likely beat me to a bloody pulp to put it lightly." She smiled knowing she was in a nest of very poisonous and rather testy vipers.
Thinking Narcissus would be perfectly contented sleeping rather than conversing Vicky grinned thinking over just how strange that was, few people would prefer their own dreams to company, nearly regardless of the company, it was clear Narcissus had simply discarded her as a person of little or no importance, unlike the girl who suddenly appeared. Knowing it would prove futile and only raise tempers again if she joked flirtatiously about the new girl's link to Narcissus she held her tongue; barely.
He instantly seemed to perk as the girl arrived, having prefered sleep to their company a moment before Vicky felt rather put out, sure her mouth had run away with her as usual, and her jokes had been a little unnecessary, but the company hadn't been so dreadful had it? Keeping her smile carefully neutral now, it couldn't be genuine with the others lack of enthusiasm for speech, perhaps it was just their way but it certainly wasn't Vicky's. As Narcissus spoke out Vicky listened with increasing incredulity, he really did have some nerve and she couldn't help but feel his words went beyond the sarcasm portrayed, there was no doubting he was a sly one.
"Hardly such a word entered my head of you Narcissus, self-absorbed certainly but that isn't the very worst fault in anyone." it's pretty base though. She thought beginning to believe it impossible to get along with somebody so unreadable and different to what she was used to. Nearly affronted when his enter focus rested squarely upon the newcomer, she was about to retort further when an interesting piece of information was given, her past discrepencies forgotten, Vicky was one to forget even easier than forgive, she asked the pleasant new arrival, "you dance do you? Any sort of dancing in particular?"

”You remembered? I’m honored…” her voice was ever so slightly intoned with sarcasm. “Hm… monsters, I see.” She raised an eyebrow at the mention of the girls’ reactions to Narcissus, “So apparently the monster watcher is the only monster to be seen this evening? Or perhaps it’s the monster watching monsters…” she tilted her head. She wasn’t sure if anyone had kept up with that tangent… for that matter she wasn’t sure if she had, but she giggled none the less.
She was surprised at his next comment. “Oh! Um… forgive me, but… something gave me the idea you knew how to dance?” perhaps it was haw fluidly he moved everywhere, or his complete ego complex that made her think he knew everything, she wasn’t sure. But she couldn’t help feeling a bit flattered by the request, “I suppose I could find some time,” she said finally before turning to the Ravenclaw.
She couldn’t help but feel, at first, like the girl had been slighting towards her, but her concerns almost immediately vanished when the girl asked so cheerily about her dance career. “A little of this, a little of that,” she said vaguely, “My family’s kind of restless, we move a lot so I’ve never had any particularly serious training except for what I learn from the books here in the library during the school year. Whenever my parents settle down for any amount of time I take what classes I can wherever we are,” she laughed softly, “It’s definitely an interesting way to learn.”

‘Forgive my assumption, Victoria. You’re absolutely right, of course – it just didn’t occur to me that you’d had any experience.’ Narcissus smiled kindly, pressing his fingers to his lips as if to say Oh my, aren’t I awful? He gave her an uncharacteristically sober pout, deciding he had had enough of letting her test his patience. If that was her technique then perhaps Erys would oblige in renting out her manservant Joshua. Narcissus felt savage, but reminded himself he wasn’t the only one being so. ‘I suggest you try being a little more coquettish, Victoria. That usually works so well on me.’ He added with finality.
Narcissus had the overpowering urge to kick his feet and brood, regardless of whether Vicky won or not, but the response from Echo bought a faux bashful grin to his face, shameless. ‘Camp and slim line, you mean? I’ve never even tried, I don’t think. And do you mean it?’ He urged keenly, although mildly surprised, pleased that she hadn’t judge him guileful. ‘In that case I’ll go and get some beauty sleep.’ Not that you need it. ‘So on that note…? He pushed himself up, looking from Echo to Vicky to Erys pointedly.
Erys had fallen into pensive disinterest and he patted her arm, moving quietly toward the isles. ‘Thank you for the lovely dream, by the way. Not that you understand.’ Narcissus passed out of sight, coal shadow shifting in his wake.

They could probably tell Erys was a bit out of it, staring off into space without blinking for ten or twelve minutes at least. As the boy tapped her shoulder, she blinked, startled out of her thoughts. "Oh, what? Dream?" She murmured, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. She shouldn't have been floating around in his la la land. "Right, well.. Bye." And just as he had, the Slytherin too had shot out of sight, the fleeting blur of a prettily-dappled feline. Narcissus was a strange one, thats for sure. Seducing females, causing them to swoon. Stealing hearts and breaking them. Sparking attraction. Yet all he had eyes for was himself. That caused her to issue a very catlike mrowr, sounding a bit like a small laugh. He was an odd bird, but maybe her friend all the same.
Thinking this as she approached the Slytherin common room, the seventh year transformed back, stretching and purring. Time for the luxuries of the girls dorm, and the comfort of her pj's. Maybe she'd see Ange up there and they could have one of those chick bonding.. Things. Erys had never been one for those, not really a girly girl in the slightest. If anything, she could be seen wrestling it up with the dudes, if only she was allowed in their quarters.[/color]
