Welcome!
Read the sign placed over the outside of the green house door. It was weaved out of branches of some tree that Jane had found out in the forest, and couldn't resist to make something with it. The witch was standing outside the door looking up at her sign smiling. She was wearing a light, turquoise robe over her dark green dress. It was a very nice day, warm and sunny for the time of year. However, this, surprisingly didn't make Jane happy.
The first lesson she had planned would have been better taught on a day with clouds over head and a more gloomy atmosphere, however, Jane would work with what she had. With a smile on her face, she stepped into greenhouse 6.
Yes, the lesson was pretty far into the rows of greenhouses. The specimen they would be viewing today was very dangerous. Jane had to get special permission from the ministry even to be allowed to have a practical lesson with the plant. However, with a few strings pulled by a friend in the ministry, Jane was allowed to hold the lesson.
Jane stood just in the door way, the large plant was held in a wooden box. There it would stay until all the student arrived. Jane put a smile on her face and waited for the first students to step through the door.

Ash smiled as he stepped through the Greenhouse doors. "Hello professor. What are we doing today?"

Darius walked along the lawns, searching for Greenhouse Six. It would be his first time attending Herbology since he had transferred here. Looking about the lawns, he noticed a sign above a greenhouse that said 'Welcome!' on it, as well as a couple of people walking into there. It was pretty obvious that it was the greenhouse, considering the other's looked abandoned currently. Shrugging, Gunner walked down the path to the greenhouse, to find that in fact it was greenhouse six, and he was in luck.
"Hello Professor." He said automatically as he passed. Looking around, the greenhouse looked rather empty, besides one other student. Dar felt slightly better he wasn't the first person to be there, but it was still odd to be there so early. Ah, well. He was probably going to be learning something he hadn't before, and that's all that really mattered.

Making his way over to the greenhouses for his Herbology lesson, he was dissapointed to find he was the only Slytherin, making a noise that sounded vaguley like 'Ugh' Ricky stood as far away as possible from the two Claws. Standing on the opposite side of the room and occasionally furrowing his brow, he listened to their conversation. He folded his arms across his chest and leant back against the sides of the Greenhouse.
"Im the only Slytherin here, if it stays this way remind me to make it my mission in life to skip this lesson." Ricky kept his eyes fixated on the wooden box, he was curious about what was inside it and what it would do though he guessed he would find out later on down the line. While he was stood there, doing nothing, Ricky took the chance to look around from where he was stood, it smelt like earth obviously, which made his nose itch and the amount of plants around him was rather disturbing for the Slytherin. Ricky couldnt take care of a plant, they always died on him.

Bradyn headed towards the greenhouses, rather glad that it would be safe for him to step into them again. He skipped out on most of the lessons last term as he and the previous teacher... did not stay on terms very well. Bray could deal with his sister, but Travis was quite unbearable with his little questions about 'What May liked?'. Most of the time he answered 'Not you' and a few house points were taken away.
Walking in, he immediately looked around at who was there. His eyes narrowed at the Slytherin boy that he couldn't name by name, but knew that he was one of the other Quidditch players. Thus, Bray wouldn't try to be one nice terms with the boy. Spying Dar, he rolled his eyes at the blonde and walked over to his room mate. "Hey there, dardarpants. I didn't know you left the common room ever." He said, that being a nice greeting between them.
Then he glanced over to the teacher and her little box, which seemed to remind him a little bit of his sister's teaching method. "Good morning, Professor... Beckket, was it?" He said, biting his lower lip as he seemed to recall that's what the rumors said the new herbology teacher was. It didn't really matter to him, because no matter who taught the class it wouldn't help him pass it any more. Worst subjects usually didn't rise from that position.

Seeing more students, Darius was relieved to find his dorm mate as one of them. Of course, he relief was washed away when Bray referred to him as 'Dardarpants'; the name Bradyn loved to tease him with. "I leave it now and then. I need some fresh air; your socks need a washing, mate." He replied, then grinned. "Looking for your pot of gold, Leprechaun? I do believe it's at the end of the rainbow, if I recall." The two had a nag for teasing each other, and name-calling seemed to be their specialty.
Looking about the greenhouse, he spotted the other student who had come in, a Slytherin. Though Gunner had only been at Hogwarts for a short while, he'd learned that Slytherins weren't the nicest people in all the land. And, upon taking another look around, Dar saw he was out numbered; three Ravenclaws to one Slytherin. If the Slytherin was going to start a little house-hate, he really had no one to back him up- at this point.
Turning his attention to the large box, Darius began wondering what they were to learn, like he had at the beginning of class. He was praying that it wasn't something he had learned before, or he might just zone out completely, having no interest in relearning things.

Slipping silently into the room after Bradyn, Erys Grace meowed softly, licking her paw and stepping into the light. Narrowing her eyes at the sun yet thankful for the warmth, the feline stretched, surveying the assembled students with mild curiosity. Three 'Claws, and two Slytherins including her lovely self. Perhaps this class wouldn't be as boring as last term, with whoever had managed to claim the teaching spot as their own. Seems like so many teachers were coming and going.. It was hard to keep track of them all.
Being she was here, Ricky had some back up, if nancy boy over there wanted to start something. Hell, she'd fight Darius herself, if it came to it. Nobody messed with her or her kind, nobody. He would learn this fact in time as everyone else did. "Hello Professor." Erys greeted her after changing back, summoning her quill and the rest of her supplies with a flourish of her wand. Taking the spot beside Ricky, she nodded to him, a wickedly gleeful gleam in her eyes. "Hello there."
Eyeing the box, the Slytherin hm'd, scrawling down her name in beautiful script at the top right hand corner of the page. So what was this lesson going to be about today? She was quite good with plants and animals, excelling more in the animals/dark arts aspects of the curriculum.[/color]

Ricky saw the look he recieved of the amazing short guy who walked in. He wasnt important enough to Ricky to even know his name, he was dwarf to Ricky, nothing more. Giving the dwarf an icy stare, it seemed like the Claw was the first to break contact with him as he wandered, over to the other Claws. Seemed Ricky was outnumbered, though that never stopped him kicking up a ruckus if he really wanted to. The place was infested with vermin that needed exterminating.
Noticing the other rather strange Claw looking at him, Ricky narrowed his eyes and spoke in an icy tone, "Take a picture, lasts longer." Though if they had a reply, Ricky wasnt listening, he was too busy focusing on the bengal cat he knew only too well to be Miss Grace. His mood brightening as she changed back, bidding a hello to the proffessor, and to Ricky. "Hello there Miss Kitty." He spoke softly, in a rather bored like tone, though the smirk now showing on his face, unmistakeable and Ricky didnt bother to hide it. Seems this lesson was worth the trip afterall.

Jac took a deep breath throw her nose as she stepped out of the castle, walking towards the Greenhouses. It was a lovely day, but it was also true that had it been thundering, freezing cold, boiling hot or so windy you had to cling to the castle walls to get anywhere Jac would have thought the same thing. It just happened that this particular lovely day was sunny with a few clouds. Sure it'll rain tonight, Jac thought to herself, shielding her eyes from the light of the sun as she looked to the clouds. The sound of rain tapping against the window by her bed was always the best sort of lullaby.
Greenhouse 6. That was her destination and she knew that it meant they were going to be working with something remotely challenging. Unlike her siblings, Jac enjoyed Herbology and found it fascinating. In all other magical fields her siblings out shone her but Herbology was the single thing where Jac didn't have to think about her brothers and sisters having done better then her. She loved it.
Entering the Greenhouse, Jac was grinning. The sign had been a welcoming one, funnily enough, and that joke made her smile. Looking around Jac spotted the professor. "Hello Professor," she said cheerfully but looking around the class she noticed a considerable lack of red. Sighing, Jac smiled again, knowing it was then up to her to represent her house for the new teacher.

Under the urging of her step brother Alice had been convinced to go to Herbology as it was meant to be an ‘exciting lesson’ For the small Hufflepuff her idea of fun and excitement was not the same as the older students and as she walked towards Greenhouse 6 she started to get a bad feeling about agreeing to sign up. The higher the number of the greenhouses the more gloomier they seemed to get inside, and the bigger the plants seemed to get.
Alice could hear voices coming from inside of the greenhouse and as she peered around the door she saw that most of the students where taller and older (which was not very hard) The professor was just in the doorway with a wooden box and a small frown passed over the Hufflepuff’s face before muttering a tiny greeting.
“Morning…Professor.”
Her eyes then darted around the greenhouse, there were no other Hufflepuff’s present, most seemed to be Ravenclaw’s and Slytherin’s and a single Gryffindor. She was holding onto the strap of her bag to tightly that her knuckles had turned white and Alice could not find her tongue to even greet one of the older students, so the young Hufflepuff stood slightly away from everyone else looking around the green house with a slightly worried expression at the look of some of the plants.

Jane smiled as her first student arrived. A Ravenclaw boy with dark hair. "Oh, you'll see." She said with a smile, indicating that he should walk farther in the green house. Students continued in after him. Jane smiled and nodded, saying hello to most of them. It was going to be a great lesson. Jane wondered why she hadn't thought of teaching before!
"Right you are..." She said to a Ravenclaw knowing her name. "Reed aren't you." She said, knowingly. Seeing the look on his face, "Yes, I'm Ellie Rook's cousin." she said with a grin. She wouldn't bother him, he looked like a nice boy.
Jane clapped her hands as the last students slide in the green house. "As my sign over the door says, Welcome!" She said cheerily. "I am, as Mr. Reed pointed out, Professor Beckket! Nice to see all of you, well, lets start the lesson." She said.
Jane waved her wand and instantly the lights dimmed. Jane placed the box in the middle ofthe greenhouse. "If you will just step to the edge off the greenhouse, there we are." She said with a smile.
"Now, basing your judgment on the fact that I have dimmed the lights and have the plant boxed, can anyone tell me what could possibly be in here?" She said with a smile.
[NOTICE: DO NOT RP YOU ARE LATE OR OPENING THE DOOR, THE ROOM MUST STAY DARK. THANK YOU!] _______________________________________________

Post by Amara Conway on Mar 4, 2008 22:00:56 GMT
Amara had rushed into the class just behind a little Hufflepuff and was tying her hair up as she did. She had gotten herself confused and was about to head down to Potions when she had remember someone say something about the Greenhouse at breakfast. Thankfully she had not remembered too late and had managed to get into the class before the professor clapped her hands.
"Hi Professor ..." she mumbled, "sorry I ... erm ..." Not looking around to see who else may had arrived, Mara smiled at the professor as she seemed keen to get the class going. Brushing her fringe out of the way, Amara listened when a small smile on her face. The lights dimmed and Amara looked worriedly around. She didn't fear the dark but knowing that might be lurking in it waiting for her to drop her guard and eat her was not a comforting though.
The box was a curious instrument and Amara, backing out, leaned forward to try and see it better. She couldn't in the dim light so decided that tempting fate had gone on long enough and she backed up properly. Frowning, Amara looked at the box and thought hard about the professor's question. Mara looked up to the professor and said in her strong voice, "I would say that it's Devil's Snare because Devil's Snare hates sunlight but the box has me stumped."

Bradyn frowned at Darius. The leprechaun thing was definitely not funny, since it was just another one of the colorful snide remarks he heard about his height. "Who're you calling short?" He said rather shortly with a frown that quickly turned to one of irritation as she saw a cat slide into the room. Normally, he would have made a rude comment to Erys, but today he was lacking in creativity and the highly hostile Slytherin troll seemed to prove that to be a folly.
Looking back up to the teacher with a smile, he nodded as she recognized his name. "Indeed, I am Bradyn Reed. You must have met my sis---Oh." He frowned a bit. El's cousin, now that was surprising. Bray expected that his sister had given the teacher a welcoming call, and like Professor Hubbles remarked on what an 'excellent student' her sibling was. But El, what was that supposed to mean? Moving back as the Beckket said, he looked towards the dark.
"Could it be Dev--" But once again he was cut off, but this time he was glad that it was by a fellow Claw. "Yeah, what Ammy said." He finished rather lamely.

Alexis was just glad to be getting outside today she didn't that morning and she was feeling agitated about it. She just needed to be out of doors it refreshed her, which was probably way she felt as if she had been on slow motion all day long. She wasn't going to be out there too long just walking from the castle to the greenhouses wasn't much but it was something. As soon as the doors opened she took a deep breath and inhaled that cool clean air. Immediately she perked up her eyes shining, the rose in her cheeks picking up. She hitched her bag further up her shoulder and grinned.
She saw Amara stepping in the room and with some sort of super speed she was right behind the girl entering the class that was very dimly lit. She though she knew just what they were about to study that day. It was probably Devil's Snare because they didn't like that light from what she recalled. It was also a dangerous plant, it liked to sneak up on you if it could. She heard stories of how it hurt people.
Just as she thought it she heard Amara answer the professor's question, she too thought the same thing. Alexis was annoyed at herself that she hadn't answered first but points for Ravenclaw were always welcomed no matter how they were obtained. Smiling at Amara Alexis waited to see if she was correct.

"Wonderful! Miss...uhh.. Conway?" She guessed. She had a list of her students, a few she had learned by seeing them in the hall a few times, other she had heard other Professors chatting about. "Yes, well, take three points." She smiled "You can take a point too, Mr. Reed, for having the right idea." She smiled, she loved giving out house points.
"Anyway, yes, the foliage I have shut up in that box is a Devil's Snare. You may be wondering why it is in that box. I guess I could take it out now, but still, anyone?" Jane said smiling. She hoped this class would be an active one. Even if they weren't, they will be once the real lesson started.
