Eva drew her robes closer around her, and the locket clanked in her pocket. She just had to find out what this thing was. Why only certain people heard it, and why the sound was always different. Eva had her own theories about it, but it would be better if a Professor could see this.
She turned another corner and slipped through a group chattering students. The whistle bounced in it's place around her neck and she hurried up the staircase. She could always ask the Head of her house, Professor Hubbles. But who knew where he or any other teacher was. And right when she needed them too.
Tiri stumbled slightly on her way up the stairs, but quickly caught herself with the railing. Dusk was slowly falling upon the school, and that meant that the evening meal would be starting soon. Oh she just had to find someone before the mass of students overpowered the halls. Her curious nature wouldn't allow her to wait until the next day.

Aurora was on her way down to the Great Hall for evening dinner, just early enough that she could miss the horde of students in the corridors. On her way down the stairs, she saw a girl stumble and barely catch herself. "Are you alright?" she asked in her usual cold voice as she headed toward the girl. The girl appeared to be one of the older years, sixth or seventh maybe and a Hufflepuff.
When the reached the spot where the girl was, Aurora looked at her deciding whether or not she appeared damaged in any way. She looked well enough and it did not appear that she had sustained even the slightest injury. "And if you don't mind my asking, why are you heading away from the Great Hall when it is almost time for dinner? Surely you weren't planning on skipping it?" Aurora asked raising an eyebrow at the girl.
Many of the students would be causing trouble if they were planning on skipping the evening meal. Although, Hufflepuffs weren't the big troublemakers, Aurora figured that she should ask anyway. Besides the students needed all their meals. A balanced diet was very important.

Eva looked up, and noticed a professor coming near her. Oh Happy days! She fought the grin that was going to spread across her face as she straightened up. "I'm alright Professor." Her voice was a little louder than normal. Maybe because of her excitement.
"I wouldn't skip dinner Professor, it's not healthy." Eva grinned up at the Professor. "But I was actually searching for a Professor. And you just helped me." She untied the ribbon and let the whistle fall into her palm. She held the ribbon and held the whistle out to the Professor. "I have a question on this actually. And I'm afraid my curiosity wouldn't let it wait until after the evenin' meal."
"I found this outside, by the lake. It was in one of the trees, along with a locket. There's an engraving on the side." Eva pointed to the engraving, then continued. "And when I blew it only two other people heard it, and we all heard something different." She looked back at the whistle, then up at the Professor. "I was wondering if it had any magical properties. And what it's purpose is."

By the time Brooke realized it, Eva had set off in search of a Professor to ask about the secret locket. Something told Brooke that bringing professors into this ordeal wasn't going to be a good idea, but even still she would rather die than be left out of the whistle secret. So Broo headed after Eva, at a walking pace because she was not going to run after her like a ninny, she was a Slytherin, after all, and such disgraces were not aloud. When she finally spotted Eva, she had already found a professor.
Brooke walked up to hear the Professor sounding concerned about her eating habits, and wondered just how she attracted the teacher, and would've asked her in her Slytherin manner had the teacher not been there. "Geeze, Eva, dear, don't you know about waiting for people?" She said sharply, and rather nicely for how she felt. Looking to the professor, she smiled. "Good to see your in good health, Professor Turolia." She said respectively before turning her attention back to the golden whistle.
"It's like something I've never seen before.. that whistle ."

Aurora listened intently as the girl spoke. Just when appeared that the girl was finished with her explanation, another appeared, a Slytherin. She gave the Slytherin girl a small nod of acknowledgement. It was rare that students showed such respect without reason, and Aurora liked to see a student showing such respect.
Gently, she picked the whistle up out of the Hufflepuff's hand and examined it carefully. "Fascinating," she said her voice had a tone of disinterest, despite the fact that she was very interested in the object in her hand. This kind of thing wasn't exactly her specialty. Magical creatures, especially dragons, she knew, but magical objects weren't her area of expertise. "What do you mean 'heard something different?'" Aurora asked curiously, her gaze still on the whistle. "What did you each hear?" She looked from one girl to another. As she looked at them she thought through a list of all the other professors deciding which one would probably be able to answer more about this object.

Eva glanced back at Brooke, and smiled apologetically. "Sorry Brooke. I didn't think you were coming. But glad you came." She turned back to the professor after a moment. The whistle even confused Brooke.
"Well Professor, I heard more of like, a soft humming. Like this." She demonstrated by humming a little higher than normal. "And Brooke said she heard a muggle firetruck." Eva's voice was starting to hurt from all of this talking. She placed her hand on her throat and frowned slightly. Brooke might have to take over soon if this kept up. Otherwise she would lose her voice again. "I know this isn't your area Professor, but I was hoping you at least knew something."
