Grace nodded. "Yes, Professor," she said, "I'm Grace Marks." He clearly was unsure so she helped him along there. When they were ushered to their seats, Grace held up her hand to answer the question about knowing why the potion was famous. She knew why but the professor answered his own question.
Grace lowered her hand and instead of sulking she made notes, eagerly soaking up every word. Though she knew the story well she was still enthralled by it. It seemed such a sad way to live: it have to force the one you loved to love you back. Naturally, such a life would end in tears and death, as these things often did. She watched the professor and continued to make notes.

Olivia walked into the classroom and sat down, pulling out all the usually classroom items she would need. She noticed Grace in the room and gave her a smile. The professor was inviting the class up to come and take a whiff of the potion he was brewing.
Olivia got up and joined the small group. The pearl like potion gleamed and Olivia couldn't help but thinks its shine was very pretty. Olivia loved pearls. She had a set of her grandmother somewhere in the mess of her school trunk.
Olivia hesitantly breathed in the scent of the potion. She had no idea what it was, and didn't know what to expect. "Ooh." She said with a smile. The scent waved through her nostrils tingling them. "Lovely. Lilies." Liv took another whiff. "and Blueberries!" Liv smiled.
She went and took her seat again. Amortentia. Amazing. Olivia smiled at the thought of a love potion. She scribbled down the name and the use on her parchment. She put her head in her palm as she listened to the story the Professor told. "It's so romantically tragic!" Olivia gasped when he was done. "...and slightly creepy." She added after she thought about it.

Michael nodded at Grace, he knew who she was now, he just couldnt put a face to the name at that precise moment in time. He looked over again at Grace and smiled, "Would there be anything else you would like to add?" he asked, wondering if the girl knew anything more on the potion.
He looked over at the newer arrival, "Glad you take it upon yourself to join us" he said coldly. Though couldnt help a smile tug at his lips when she told the class, basically what attracted her. Though most would be embarrassed upon realisation of what the potion was, this girl seemed unfazed by it. "Unfortunatly Miss, you will find most romances come with tragic consequences" He looked over at the Gryffindor who seemed a little confused, and even though, being who he was, didnt much like the Gryffindor house, he felt as though he had to be somewhat helpful, considering she was his student. "Sarie is it?" he asked, and with a somewhat forced smile he added, "Dont worry, you'll come out of this class more knowledgeable"
"Can anyone tell me any more of the effects of this potion? In greater detail?"

"If you let it age, it become more potiant to the drinker. It would make the oppustion of the person worse." Sarie knew love potions where better to be drunk when thier fresh. "I should give a example, lets say there a girl who like a guy. She either bought a love potion or made one than put it in some like a coulden cake and the boy didnt eat it right away. A few weeks go by and then he eats it. He might kill anyone who is in his way to get to the girl." She bit her lip a agian.

Grace was once again going to answer the professor's question when she was again cut off by the small first year. She seemed to have gone from unsure of herself to spurting out the textbook in under thirty seconds. Grace frowned at her for a second before she realised she was right. Her frown melted and she turned back to the professor.
"Also," Grace said, raising her hand, "when it's weak it can last up to twelve hour, more stronger doses are known to have lasted up to two days. However, continues doses will need to be administered for lasting effects. And once the recipient has stopped receiving the potion the strong desires are often gone too unless they do love the one who is giving them the potion." Grace looked at the professor and thought to herself, but how can you love someone who was forcing you to stay with them?

Olivia blushed as the Professor noticed her. She hadn't meant to be so forward. Liv just had said what she smelled before she knew what she was smelling. It wasn't her fault, but she blushed pink none the less.
As for her hopless romaticism, that was Olivia's fault. Reading to many romantic novels, and getting caught up with perfect fiction to pay attention to harsh reality. She nodded as the professor pointed this out. Copying down Sarie's, who, by the way, seemed to suddenly go from confusion to complete understanding in three point two seconds, and Grace's answers, she raised her hand to give an example.
"Like in your story Professor." Liv said to hopefully redeem herself in the Professor's eyes. "The woman had figured that she had used the potion long enough, so that he-who-must-not-be-named's father must surely, truly love her. Sadly she was wrong." Liv said, and the added on, "And I would guess that if the person receiving the potion did truly love the one who is giving them the potion, then the potion must not have been needed in the first place." Liv shrugged. "Or it seems logical."

"Yes indeed, if you do let any kind of love potion age, even a smaller more weaker dose, it will indeed strengthen" Mike told the classroom "So what would amortentia be like if left to age and to brew? It would become a violent love potion, making whoever drank it so obssessive with the person who made it, that he or she would hurt those closest to him or to her, without feeling remorse for their actions." He looked at the gryffindor, this was basically what she was saying, "Ten points to you"
"Actually Miss Marks, a love potion does not make love. The drinker is in a kind of trance, like say under the Imperius curse if you like. He or she will not know what has happened until they have come out of the trance. This is why love potions are dangerous, because one person will love the other. But i can guarentee you, it will not be the drinker. The drinker will end up more angry, than in love."
"Yes miss Belmont you are right." He looked at her "As i have said, a love potion does not create love, doesnt create its feelings and there for the drinker will never love the person adminstering the drink to them. If indeed, the person loved the person giving them the potion from the start, they wouldnt have ever needed the potion."
"Love potions are for the selfish, who want what they can only have by means of trickery" He looked around the classroom, "And i pray that none of you will ever resort to this"

Sarie blushed, she never gotten house points before. THe Professor was right what would be the point to make someone love you but like the Professor said you couldnt make love you. It would just end in heart break. She wrote some more notes. THen she went looking around the class room.

Grace glance at the Gryffindor and saw the pleasure on her face about getting house points. Grace smiled at her and turned back to the professor. Of course you can't create love, she groaned to herself. "Yes, sir," she said, "I know that. You said it yourself. All I was getting at is the varying strengths of the potion and that they stop working if it is no longer given."
She didn't enjoy being told she was wrong, especially when she wasn't, and this, she knew, was her father coming out in her. The professor, she decided, must have misunderstood what she had said, simple as that. Once the professor had stopped talking Grace added, "Sir, isn't that why this particular potion is one of the most dangerous? Because it can capture your mind so completely, like the Imperius Curse."

"The imperius curse makes the person incapable of doing anything but what the caster makes them do, the Love Potion makes the drinker incapable of doing anything but loving the person." Michael looked at her, "So yes Miss Marks, in a way you are correct"
"Do any of you have any questions about this potion?"
((sorry that was so short))

Grace was disgruntled by the professor's brash manner, as usual, but she tried to not let it show. She smiled and nodded and set her quill to her page, making notes once again. She scribbled a few extra things she thought of before looking up at the professor and shaking her head to his question. She didn't have any questions, except why you have to sink as low as to use such a potion.

Alexis had been enjoying herself this lesson. Love potions always fascinated her not because she had ever wanted to use one but simply because of the feelings they invoked, feelings that weren't necessarily real. It was almost an instance of muggle psychology and that was something Alexis was very interested in. So far this class had been more interesting than the others and the students were more involved which always made things good. She herself had been a bit quiet she didn't have much to interject she was much more interested in listening to what was being said. Her parchment was already full of notes and she was satisfied.
