Remembering

[Lidia Cullen]

Lidia needed some quiet; time without all the people inside the school worrying about their hair, makeup, or who they were going to hang out with later.It was revolting. When she finally managed to escape she found herself in the Forbidden Forest, with other students who were all too busy pondering what was wrong in their pathetic lives to even notice Lidia.

Even after getting help, Lidia, still couldn’t fight the nagging, and the flashes that went through her mind at the most random of times. It had been her and Elizabeth, their parents had gone on a trip and never came back; back then that wasn’t a rare occurrence. Of course Elizabeth had taken care of Lidia, with her being the older sister and her younger then her. That had been when they were 14 and 15. One day after Lidia had turned 16 someone came to their door of the shack that they lived in. He wasn’t human, and Lidia had known that from the moment she opened the door. He pushed her aside, and threw her to the floor. Elizabeth had been out hunting, she came back to find the guy just looking at the helpless Lidia on the floor and flung herself at the culprit.

She sighed and threw a stick into the darkness. What did it matter now? All her family was dead.

Kim had been trying to figure out lately what was going on. Everything had changed and she often found herself wondering whether it was a good thing she came back or not.

What did i come back for?

She knew the answer to that question but she didnt want to openly admit it to anyone. She was too full of pride, the times had changed her. Melded her back into who she once was, the girl who was always looking for trouble. Now she came into the forest.

What she didnt expect to see was someone here before her. Great, whos that she thought to herself. As she got closer she noticed it was a girl. A girl from her own house. She seemed angry or something, which was the kind of attitude Kim liked.

Walking over to the girl she stood next to her, looking at her she cocked her head to the side, "Whats up?" she said rather quickly. Which was unlike Kim, but then again, she hadnt seen many people from her own house in a long long while.

She sighed when she heard a voice that she had never heard before. Any other time she would have welcomed a person to join her, but today wasn't that day. She didn't even bother looking up at her, so instead she just picked up a rock, about the size of her palm, and chucked it into the forest.

"Um... Do I even know you? I'm Lidia." She whispered. Despite her best attempts her voice was weak, she wasn't her fiery self. On days like this her wit almost abandoned her, and left her hollow, forced to relive images that she knew she would spend the rest of her life trying to forget. "Look, any other day I would love to banter with you but today isn't that day. I'm not trying to be rude, it's just... nevermind. You can stay if you want."

Adam needed to get away. He needed to get away from the pressures of life, having to worry about grades, when his parents' next letter telling him how much a failure he was, was going to arrive. He just needed to get away. Soon he found himself at the edge of the lake and noticed two Slytherin girls in front of him. One, he didn't know, the other was Lidia, and she looked upset. Adam's brow furrowed in concern. What could be making her upset? "Lidia?" he asked softly as he sat down beside her and placed an arm around her in a gentle hug. "What's wrong?" he whispered quietly

A small smile crept upon her lips despite herself. Slowly she closed her eyes and shook her head softly. "It's nothing I just... there are just other things on my mind." She said softly. She opened her eyes and picked up another rock and threw it into the dark, causing a stick to shatter, and the pieces hitting them. "Sorry." She muttered almost pathetically. "You've caught me on a bad day, that is all." That was an understatement. Lidia leaned into his embrace. "Actually I was just talking to... What's your name?" She asked, turning to the girl.

Adam smiled and gently kissed the top of her head. "Okay, if you need to talk I'm here okay?"

Lidia's eyes found his. "Okay, I'll tell you when I'm ready." She said, her voice soft. There had been times in her life that she had told people the truth and the outcome had never been good; they would hurt her and then Elizabeth would kill them.

A light laugh came out of her mouth. "Normally I mock the poor, miserable prats who sit here pondering their existence, and now I've almost become one." She said with a laugh. "Good thing you came and saved the day." She said with a genuine smile.

Adam laughed softly. "Hey! I ponder my life and that doesn't make me a poor miserable prat! And neither does it make you one when you ponder your life." he said softly, now serious. He turned to the other girl. "Hello, I'm Adam Carson." he smiled warmly and offered his hand in greeting.

Lidia just smiled. She tried as hard has she possibly could but she couldn't smile. Normally, the word happy or smile weren't even in her vocabulary. "Sorry, it's just the Slytherin side of me coming out." She whispered, lowering her head. "I still think you're crazy." Lidia whispered, as he turned to the girl.

Kim looked down at the other girl and smirked. She looked up at the gryffindor, the old Kim would have outstretched her hand and told him her name, however the Kim she was now didnt even bother. "Whatever" she said looking down at the girl again, keeping her eyes on her she said loud enough for them both to hear, "Kim" in case they wondered what her name was.

She lowered her voice so only the girl could hear her, "Who's crazy? Me? Or him" she looked back up at the gryffindor and gave him a sickly sweet smile.

Lidia pondered why the girl didn't shake his hand. Maybe, it's just how she is. She thought. She kept her eyes on the girl the whole time. She was definitely a Slytherin. "It's nice to meet you Kim." Lidia said, dryly. She had been wondering for a while what her name was. Lidia could keep her laugh in. "He is.." She said, crying she was laughing so hard. Right now anything felt better than the empty feeling she got when she thought of her family.

Kim didnt return the compliment about it being nice to meet her as she hadnt decided yet if it was or wasnt. Kim looked up at the guy, to Kim, everyone was weird in their own way, but as Kim didnt know him she'd take her word on it. She looked back at the girl who was now nearly crying with laughter. A smirk pulled on Kims mouth as she watched her laugh herself silly.

Lidia just laughed. It was all that she could do. "I'm sorry. I haven't been this happy in a while and I'm going to take advantage of it." She said, standing up and brushing herself off. "So how long have you been going to Hogwarts?" Lidia asked, still smiling.

[Kim Rivers]

"That depends" Kim answered truthfully, "Do you mean before i did my dissapearing act, or when i came back?" she spoke. She looked at the guy, Adam? Did he say his name was? Kim didnt know, she didnt take much notice of Gryffindors anymore. "I came here from being a firstie till my fourth year, some stuff happened and i just left one day" She said, "Came back a few weeks ago, been away for about three years" Kim told her truthfully, she wasnt going to tell her why she left, or came back, or where she had been. "What about you...?"

Lidia had no idea as to what the girl was talking about. She had left and then came back? "His name is Adam." She told Kim again. "So ever since you came back have you been enjoying it?" Lidia asked, somewhat bored. It was always weird how you could want to be alone and then people just start to show up. "I've only been going here since the beginning of the year." She said, turning her attention to Adam.
