The duck was suddenly stupefied. Quinn turned her gaze to look to where it came from and saw a Hufflepuff student come running. Quinn lowered her wand and watched a Gryffindor join them.
As she said hi, Quinn smirked down at her. How insolent! she thought. As the girl stood up straight, Quinn noticed the first Hufflepuff was in the lake. How strange things were, so much so that Quinn had forgotten about the duck.
When that subject was revisited, Quinn remembered herself and clenched her wand tighter in her hand. When the ... professor mentioned registered Animagi. "This may fare well be someone who has merely forgotten they are human, that may explain his behaviour, and might explain why he took so well to Girty's stupefy spell." She said all this for herself, looking at the duck, hoping that it was indeed a person that it could hear her.

Dan found that his face was one struck with confusion and he was shaking it, disproving of what Quinn had said. Lowering his gaze to the stunned duck he studied it closely, it was he who brought up the idea of the duck being an Animagus. Trying to find something almost to reassure himself and at the same time confront Quinn.
“But surely the ministry would know if an Animagus was swimming around the lakes of Hogwarts, it is a school for god shake. Who knows who this creature could be? Maybe you should investigate it, for the protection of the students.”
Dan raised an eyebrow as he wondered what this witch’s job was in the ministry, he dreaded the fact that he maybe annoying someone with high authority. With this thought rushing through his head Dan had an urge to show he was not completely useless. Pulling out his wand he knelt down by Jac and pointed it at the duck. Red sparks came flying out of the tip and hit the duck. Suddenly it began to twitch and made its way back onto it feet, quacking quite a lot. Slowly rising he gave a small shrug of his shoulders.
“It was starting to freak me out seeing it motionless, and I missed it’s friendly quacking.”
With a small chuckle he shot a smile in the direction of Girty, who seemed to be finding it hard not to burst into a fit of giggles.

Jac had continued to stroke the inanimate duck all the while. She had been thinking about trying to communicate with the duck somehow without actually talking to it. Her father had always told her that because she was so special she could do that but she never had been able to. But never the less, she tried to no avail though.
Sighing she leaned on her knees and looked at the beautiful creature. "Really beautiful," she whispered to herself. Then noticed Prof Hubbles crouching next to her. He pointed his wand at the duck and it began moving again. They both jumped up and backed off. Jac gawked at the professor, then laughed, "friendly quacking?" she said and laughed harder.

Steve was actually getting anger at this stupid man and then when he was about to fly off and attack him again he was suddenly realised he could not move, wanting to quack at him, no sound came out of his beak. Suddenly two other students came into the picture, one hand her wand drawn. If he could mutter in disagreement he would have. Soon another one was leaning over him and gibbering about him being beautiful. However soon that annoying man was lending over him and poked him with his wand. Steve quacked once more in annoyance and to his surprise it rang out around him. Getting back to his feet Dan waddled back to the side of the taller women, she seemed nice and had an air of officialness about her, not like this stubbly man.
The fact that other people in the circle began laughing at him angered him even more, flapping his wings and quacking rather loud Steve protested as much as he could. Once again those who could talk duck would have understood.
“You stupid man I will pay for this, when I get my stick back from the lake you will regret you came here. You mark my words, the ministry will get you back!”
Steve turned his head sideways so his small beady eyes was on Quinn. He needed her to do something, otherwise this man and girl would simply stand there laughing at him all the time.

Quinn watched the professor with a quizzical eye, though she hid it well, and thought of warning him that the duck was far from friendly. Then the thought of the duck attacking the professor again amused her so she took a step back and watched, smirking.
Events unfolded just as she had imagined. As soon as the duck was released it went crazy! She could almost hear it's little mind screaming with anger at the stupid teacher. She crossed her arms and watched the duck in familiar curiosity. It seemed to calm down some what. Curious...
The duck looked at her, and she looked at the duck and she once again got an eerie sensation up her spine that this duck was an acquaintance of hers. "Mr Duck," she said softly, going down on her haunches, "where do I know you from? Have you not been human once? A ministry official, perhaps?" The quick cogs in her head turned to try and make sense of strange sensation.
Then she noticed the glare in the ducks eyes. She glanced up at the professor and pushed herself up slowly, "the ducks right!" she spat, "it you don't watch yourself, mister, that temper of yours is going to get you into trouble!" Quinn straightened her coat, "so please, don't watch it! Give me something to do with my time."

Dan watched Quinn kneel down by the duck and started talking to him. Rolling his eyes he looked over at Girty and Grace and gave a soft chuckle. This ministry official was out of her mind, and he was to be startled even more when she confronted him saying the duck was right. Dan turned to look at her feeling rather shocked. His mouth hung open slightly as he looked form Quinn to the duck.
“Pardon? Are…are you trying to tell me you are talking to the duck….and the duck is threatening me? Hang on are you threatening me?”
Dan had become so pre occupied with the ducks constant quacking and thought that Quinn could talk to it that he had ignored the threat the Quinn had made. His mouth hung open even wider as he looked on at the young women, her hair blowing around her in the light evening breeze. Had she not been a ministry official, and she threatening him he would have thought the scene very romantic, the sun shinning off her glistening hair, her eyes sparkling from the reflection of the water. But instead he was standing gormless in front of her trying to comprehend what she had just said.

Quinn smirked at the bewildered man. "Are you feeling uncomfortable, Professor?" She slurred the last word, drawing is out, and crossed her arms. How much she enjoyed her job. "So what if I was threatening you? What are you going to do about it?"
Quinn kept eye contact constantly, not letting an eyelid flicker with emotion. She stood perfectly still, in the failing light she might have been confused with a statue. Then she shifted her weight to the other foot and turned back to the duck. "This duck," she began again, "on the other hand, is most certainly not a duck. Well, not one naturally so. He was most certainly human at one stage. If only he could find that part of himself again."

Dan could not help but snort as Quinn rambled on about the duck being once human, his gaze drifted from the woman to the duck and back again. It looked like a normal duck, maybe a little taller and a tiny bit fatter then others, but otherwise it seemed like a bog standard duck that would be comely seen being fed by some old muggle lady in a park. Shaking his head once more Dan opened his mouth to protest about how if he was human why not change back, or in fact seek help instead of floating on a lake at a school. The words were about to come flying out his mouth faster then a enraged hippogriff when he noticed a sudden change in the light around them. At first he thought a cloud had simply passed across the setting sun, but he noticed the light shinning in Quinn’s eyes had changed.
He took a step back and looked up towards the sky, his heart began to pound in his chest and his mouth turned dry. With wide eyes any thought about the duck and the beautiful ministry official in front of him faded, his attention was on his sister. As he sharply turned to look at her he too noticed that Girty had a strange look on her face.
“Girty we must get you inside now.”
A note of panic was in his voice, and it wavered slightly. He reached out and took hold of his sisters shoulders in an attempt to steer her back towards the castle. Girty was more then willing to leave. Dan shot a glance towards Quinn and noticed that she did not seem too keen on letting them leave at that present moment.

Grace had been watched the duck with bemused curiosity and had phased out into her own world. She had not noticed the exchanges between the two adults or the setting of the sun or the rise of the moon. She was abruptly broken out of her day dream by the professor pushing Girty into her.
She looked around. She saw the moon and the look in the professor's eyes and then she turned to Girty. "Oh no!" she said and grabbed Girty's hand. "Come on, Girty! We need to go!" She began to pull Girty towards the castle.

Quinn, watching the professor, frowned at him. He seemed to be in quite a rush all of a sudden, this puzzled her. She could not let them leave, not until she found out why this sudden urge to leave.
She very quickly moved in front of the blond haired girl and held up her hand. "Stop!" she commanded. When they had come to a halt, Quinn said in a commanded tone, "where is everyone off to in such a rush? We haven't finished chatting yet." She was standing a little more up right then she usually would and would not let them leave without providing answers.

With the help from Grace, Dan managed to lead Girty a couple of steps forward when their path was blocked by Quinn. With a nervous glance to the night sky Dan pushed Girty’s head to face the ground and pulled her hood over her head, he knew that a piece of cloth would do nothing but he had nothing to do but hope. The weight of his sister was growing on his arm as her strength slowly went, he knew that it would not be long until she lost full control.
With an evil glare at Quinn Dan tried to push on only to stopped once more by the ministry official. With a deep breath Dan looked up once more but this time he had a different look in his eye. He knew she would not move and he was left with only one option. He had to plea with her. His eyes were soft and the sting of tears was present, Dan cared abut Girty too much to let her go through the pain of the transformation, but he knew he was running out of time.
“Please.” His voice was strained and a tone that not many people heard. “Quinn you have to let Girty get to the castle.”
The look in the witches eyes told him he did not have much choice, and the shaking from Girty he knew he did not have the time. With a nervous glance over at Grace he saw the moon reflect in the young Hufflepuff’s eyes. His heart sank and suddenly began to pull Girty off in another direction, away from the others. If it was going to happen in the open, no one was going to get hurt. They were now a meter away from the group when Girty began to fight back, here strength was increasing quickly and before Dan knew it he was flying through eh air and landed in heap on the ground. When he managed to look up there stood his little sister, in her monstrous form. A defending howl filled the eyes as her wolf eyes fell onto him.

Quinn watched in total bewilderment as the professor dragged his sister in the opposite direction. She was appalled at his cheek. "How dare you walk ... a ... way ... from ... " she trailed off for the sight before her was horrifying and amazing.
Not knowing what to do, Quinn stood fixed to the spot and gasps, momentarily loosing her cool and calm composure. Regaining it, she shut her mouth and pointed her wand at the werewolf. "Immobulus," she said quietly but strongly. The spell shot out of her wand in a red jet of light and hit the werewolf square in the lower back.
Quinn strod over to the professor and heaved him up. "What on earth have I just seen?" She spat it out like a blood curse. "This goes against everything you as a teacher stand for." She was holding him firm under the arm and holding him close. "You should have reported this. Now that's more paper work I have to go through."

Unsure weather he had banged his head or his hearing was wrong Dan looked at Quinn with a confused face as she pulled him to his feet. She seemed to be spitting with rage but it was nothing to what Dan was feeling. He was ready to draw his wand and stick it down her throat. Reframing from doing anything as violent he just shouted at the top of his lungs at Quinn until he was red in the face.
“Paper work! You bloody ministry gits, that is all you care about is bloody paperwork. But let me tell you this miss, you must have missed the memo as all the important people in Hogwarts know about my sister. If you had not been so stupid as to hinder us then Girty could be safe in the dungeons, if it was not for that duck she would have taken her potion. You can stuff your paperwork, help my sister!”
With a deep breath Dan turned around the face Girty wolf once more, she was beginning to wriggle, the spell was wearing off. Even from a powerful witch such as Quinn the strength of Girty wolf was break through. The creature let off another howl and Dan filched as it echoed around them. Slowly he built up his courage and tried to walk towards his sister only to find that Quinn still had a tight grip on him.
“Get your stupid hands off me! It is clear why you are in the department of magical law enforcement. You do not have an once of common sense in your head, if you really care you will make sure the other students and your precious duck is safe while I lead Girty into the forest away from the castle.”

Quinn was close enough to see the lines of pain and love move over the professor's face as he shouted at her. This is a man to be respected, she thought and listened to what he had to say. It finally dawned on her that he may be right, however much she would deny it later.
When he had done speaking, Quinn let go of his arms and, standing up straight, straightened her robes. Then slowly, though conscious of the werewolf struggling from it's bonds, said, "I am a big enough person to know when I have made a mistake. I won't apologise for it, so do not expect it."
She looked at the werewolf quickly then turned back to the professor. "The forest is dangerous, even for a dangerous creature. You said the dungeons is where you would have taken her. You should take her there now. You're the Charms teacher, you can charm her there. I'll take these two ... somewhere."

Dan felt Quinn let his arm free and he stumbled forward slightly as he still tugged forward. As her softy voice floated into his ears Dan turned around and studied her face, he could tell she was sorry for what she had done, but like him it pained more to admit it then to watch the wrong doing happen. He continued to look Quinn directly in the eyes as she explained to him her plan but his heart sunk slowly as he heard it. Shaking his head even as she spoke Dan dropt his eyes to the ground. He was becoming reseeded to his fate.
“It will not work. In her wolf form Girty is too powerful, you were lucky that your spell hit before her transformation was over. The forest is the only place, she is strong enough to defend herself. I will lead her there and pray I get out alive.”
He gaze Quinn a weak smile before turning to face the wolf. His wand was gripped tightly in his hand as he tried to rally his sprits to walk over towards the creature. With one last glance over his solder at Quinn he watched the moon light highlight her beautiful features and the stars twinkle in her eyes.
Dan’s attention was now on Girty wolf, who was struggling to her paws again. It was now or never, he had to make sure that Girty was focused only on him and did not notice the others. Slowly he crept forward and started to wave his arms around to get the creatures attention, it turned its head to face Dan, teeth showing and glistening in the light. Girty wolf let out another howl and it began to walk towards Dan.
“Come on, this way Girty follow the lump of fresh meat. Come on that’s it.”
Soon the creature was picking up speed and Dan began to walk backwards, he needed to break into a run anytime soon otherwise he would be fresh meat, brother or not.
