Nikole walked quietly down toward the lake. It was a beautiful sight. The water was reflecting the sun with only slight waves disturbing it. When she got near the edge of the lake she found a tree to sit under for shade. Everything in her life had been so peaceful lately. It was for things to not be so hectic. She leaned back against the tree and closed her eyes, enjoying the sound of the lake and the one owl that flew overhead.

Greg stumbled out from the forest casting a fearful glance over his shoulder, that experience of the albeit tiny fire lizard had almost killed him. Thankfully his prowess at magic had saved his life and a simple stun spell had been enough to send it scampering away into the undergrowth once more. Fear had simply been his problem, and forever it would be if he didn't do something drastic about it; his breathing exercises had helped considerably, but still they weren't sufficient in his line of work.
Making his way swiftly back to the castle to report his findings immediately he noticed a young girl by the lakeside all alone, she seemed quite enraptured as he often was himself with the beauty of the Hogwarts grounds, primarily the vast expanse of the lake. Smiling nervously at her he continued on his way knowing he had no time to stop and talk to her, the conversation he would have supplied would neither interest nor excite the girl so what use was he anyway? Yet something drew him nearer, perhaps just a little curtesy was called for? Yes that would be super, as the Ministry needed to improve student relations.
Regulating his breathing he startled himself when he spoke clear as a bell with no stutter whatsoever. "Hello there," encouraged somewhat with his good start he asked "what brings you out here?"

Startled by the sudden appearance of someone, Nikole jumped and hit her head against. Putting her hand on her head where it had hit she said, "Ouch." She looked up at the man who had spoken to her. "Umm... I don't know. Nothing in particular. Who are you?" she asked wondering why he had just come up and started talking to her.

Greg felt her pain, having all too recently banged his head when trying to escape the clutches of that most dangerous fire lizard, it had been a close run fight, but in the end he had been the better. "I know how that feels," he commented feeling strangely at ease in her presence, as she was of course completely different from his dreaded mentor, whom he still somehow admired for her fighting prowess and skills.
"I'm an apprentice, l..learning to be a m..member of the Magical Law Enforcement team," he had said that so many times with such pride that it simply rolled of his tongue. In theory he shouldn't have answered her prying questions and should have sent her immediately on her way; but he was speaking clearly which was quite a thrill for him. Simple things really did please him.

Nikole took her hand off her head. She looked at him strangely for a moment. She now knew his profession, but he had failed to mention a name. "Okay," she said, "You have failed to tell me your name though." She thought for a moment. "And what bring you out here?" she asked. Generally she wouldn't asked about something that she didn't need to know, but he had asked her the same question.

"Oh sorry," he garbled an apology "I'm Greg and you are?" He used his nickname on purpose so she couldn't trace him so easily, though all that was necessary was to ask for the terrified guy he stuttered constantly.
Though his good hunour usually lasted longer Greg had just remembered something rather startling; that he had been supposed to meet with his mentor this very morning but had clean forgotten it. She would not be best pleased, feeling insecure once again he pulled himself to his full height; which was about average only and demanded "what brings me here is none of your business," he said indignantly, but on seeing her look his resolve crumbled.
"I'm patrolling basically, making sure nobody enters the forest."

Nikole laughed a little. He had tried to refuse to tell her at least. The more she talked to him the more it seemed strange that he were training to be a member of the Magical Law Enforcement. He seemed a bit of a nervous person for the job. "I'm Nikole," she said cheerily. "It's nice to meet you, Greg."

It really did astound Greg that people remained to cheery and happy around here, but then again their circumstances were very different to his own, and deep down, though he'd never admit it, his job really was incredibly taxing and in reality only few people could accomplish it; nobody could track down a criminal like he could, his only major flaw was actually taking them in once found, that was why Greg worked far better in a team. In a situation such as this where he was alone, with a lady at that, he really did struggle to keep his nervousness at bay. Yet her encouraging smile helped, he felt a little more comfortable in her presence, but he knew from Ministirial training that people could easily fool another; which made him awfully paranoid.
Yet he knew his manners and replied crisply yet also smartly with the tiniest of smiles. "T..the pleasure is all mine."
Greg was one to obey laws to the letter, and in his hopefully lifelong profession, he would have to strictly enforce them.
"I'm afraid I'll have to escort you back up to the castle," He ordered quite coldly, but ruined in when he added "sorry," and then proceeded to explain why; "it's getting too late, you're not supposed to be wandering aimlessly about the grounds on a whim." He gave a quavering smile in apology once more and raised his hand directing her before him.
