bellatrix had gone out to the lake alone one afternoon. she was wearing only her bikini as she laid out a large towel, and situated herself on it. she put on her oversized sunglasses and soaked up the sun.

she hoped someone would come bother her.

It wasn't customary for Roderick to travel far from the common room, but something, perhaps the wonderful weather, had drawn him to the edge of the Lake.

Gazing outwards across the twinkling water, he hoped to catch a glance of the giant squid, but nothing disturbed the perfect surface of the water.

Tossing a couple of rocks into the water, Roderick made his way around the edge, when he caught the sight of a beautiful girl, a bikini being the only clothing upon her perfect figure.

Roderick recognized her as Bellatrix Black, a girl he found fascinating, but did not know very well. They had had a smattering of classes together, but as was usual, he had stuck within his own house.

He took a seat a few yards away from her and took his shoes and socks off, placing his feet into the cool water. It was refreshing on such a warm day, and Roderick sighed with relief.

Turning his gaze back to Bellatrix's still form, he was unsure whether or not she was asleep or just ignoring him.

"Hello. . . ?" He said uncertainly, a quirky smile upon his face.

bellatrix became aware of the boy when she heard him sigh. she waited for him to initiate conversation though.

"hello," she replied. she remained still, but a smile was playing on her lips. "you seem familiar. where do i know you from?"

she turned on her side to get a better look at him. she reaized he was quite attractive. she took of her suglasses to reveal her emerald eyes. she grinned at him.

oh, how her sister would scream if she found her interested in a ravenclaw.

Roderick smiled and waved his hand. "We've been in classes together since first year, Bellatrix," he said, laughing softly. "But then again, we've never really mingled with anyone out of our house during those classes."

When she took her glasses off, his smile increased ten-fold, and he picked himself up and sat closer to her, to admire her beautiful eyes. She had a great smile too, and Roderick suddenly became interested.

He grabbed a couple of more rocks and began to skip them across the water, his desire to see the Giant Squid eliminated by the presence of Bellatrix, and her hardly clad body.

bellatrix saw him smile, and she blushed. bellatrix had never blushed before. and why in the name of merlin was her heart beating so fast. she sat up, thinking it might help her calm down.

"yeah, we never really did. i guess with my sister, ive always been expected to discriminate against the other houses." she sighed. "its just how my family is. but really, i just hate the gryffindors, and the hufflepuffs are easy to harrass."

Roderick nodded his head in understanding. "Yes, I agree, Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs are. . .well, they're pushovers, not to mention all fighting for the greater good and what not. What about themselves, and what their life is like? Too much "good-samaritan" for me, but then again, that's just me," he stated, a small smile pulling at his lips.

"Now, Ravenclaws and Slytherins, those are the true heroes at this school. We're smart, you're cunning, which in truth, is pretty much the same thing. We're both dedicated and determined to get what we want, and I always get what I want," he said smoothly, moving a tad bit closer to her.

At the moment, what he wanted was her, but he kept his restraints on. It wasn't the norm for him to be drooling over girls like this, he usually let them come to him, but today, with Bellatrix, he was feeling something, and he wanted more of it.

bella's heart had fallen to her toes. did he always have this effect on girls? bellatrix didnt like to think herself weak, so she decided he probably did.

she wanted to say something clever, but she could barely breathe, so she just nodded.

"Did I knock you speechless?" He asked, laying down on his back and laughing up to the sky. "You know, I really usually don't do this, flirt, I mean, especially with a girl so beauitful," he said, turning his head slightly to see her reaction.

He was putting it on, thickly for sure, but it was all sincere, something that most guys wouldn't say. But, Roderick had seen from their class time together that Bellatrix was certainly an interesting young woman, smart, obviously beautiful, and able to handle herself in all situations.

She was going to be quite the woman, and Roderick wanted a part in that.

"really," said bellatrix, thoroughly unconvinced. "you seem to be quite good at it, in anycase." she laid back down, trying to steady herself.

Roderick laughed. "Well, thank you very much Bellatrix. It's an art that I never thought I was truly good at, but coming from someone like you, I'll rethink that," he said, returning his gaze to the sky.

"Do you do this often?" Roderick asked, furrowing his brow. A wry smile came onto his lips. "I mean, do you wait for good-looking boys to come and see you tanning?"

bella giggled. "no, i just come out to tan. good-looking guys just come regardless."

bella closed her eyes, and swept a lock of hair off of her shoulder, so it could tan properly.

Narcissa had her towel. She had decided she was going to go out and get a tan, not that she needed it. She was naturally tan. But she had been bored so she needed something to do. Narcissa walked up into something she hadn't expected. Her sister, Bellatrix was sitting on her towel, next to a boy who looked very interested in her. Bella must have heard her walk up because she turned around rapidly.
"Cissy," She started with an urgent look that clearly said 'go away'
Narcissa let her smile through. "Wow, Bella" She laughed.
"I," Bellatrix started to explain.
The boy, who Cissy recognized to be a Ravenclaw, looked attentively.
"No need Bella," She smiled. "Just one thing," and she turned her attention to the boy. She pulled her hair out of its long, blonde ponytail.
"Do... you have a brother?" She said interested. Bella forced a laugh.

bellatrix rolled over to hide the mortified expression on her face. not only was she embarrassing the hell out of her, but bella really wanted to be alone with roderick. but, once cissy decided she wanted to do something, there wasnt really anything anyone could do to persuade her otherwise, and right now, cissy wanted to tan.

but why she couldnt do it at the other end of the lake, or perhaps in france, was something bella did not know.

Narcissa looked at her sister. She could tell that she wanted to be alone, and it would be awkward if she were there anyways. She decided, out of uttermost respect for her sister, she would have to leave. She was already tan anyways. Maybe she would go find Maeve and discuss Bella's 'get together' Narcissa smiled, very jealous of her sisters love life, which had beat hers by a long shot. Narcissa picked up the towel she had dropped. last she could do is introduce us she thought. But instead of sharing her thoughts, she looked to her sister. "Sorry guys, I didn't expect.... well, yeah." She began to turn around. "I'll talk to you later Bella, and really do think about the brother thing," She said to them. And with a flip of her hair, and a quick turn around, she was on her way off. Narcissa couldn't help but to smile to herself.

"wait up cissy," bella said. "im coming too."

bella stood up to leave, before crouching down, and planting a soft kiss on rodericks cheek. "meet me in madam puddifoot's some time, okay?"

bella strode away, with a last glance at roderick.
