Rylan mumbled under his breath, tying a small roll of parchment to his tawny owl's leg. " Last time, it took you almost 5 months to get the letter home...by then no one cared that I was wishing them all a Happy New Year's. Seeing as it was June." Rylan scolded the animal. He rolled his eyes, securing the letter one last time. " And then that other time you didn't even deliver the letter. You came back a week later with the same one tied to your leg." He continued on. The owl seemed to be ignoring him, fluffing out its feathers. Still, Rylan continued talking to him. " So, the point is, Jack, get the letter there. On time. To the right people. Right?" Rylan finished, carefully carrying Jack over to the open window.
Jack gave a tiny hoot in response before clicking his beak at Rylan. Moments later he was soaring out the open window and Rylan watched him disappear into the blue sky. He ran a hand through his dark hair, leaning against the window ledge and looking out. From this tower, you could see nearly the entire grounds. It was quite a sight. In fact, if it wasn't for the disgusting smell, the feathers and live animals everywhere, Rylan would have hung out there more often. But that's what the Astronomy Tower was for.
Rylan focused back on his owl, which was now just a speck in the sky. " Probably gonna end up in Africa or something....Should have got another owl." He mumbled, rolling his eyes. Still, Rylan knew he couldn't get rid of Jack. As much as the owl annoyed him and didn't do his job, Jack was still his owl.

Kellcie hadnt written home since she got here, and had recieved a letter from her clearly worried parents. In all honesty, she had forgotten. She held the letter in her hand as she walked over the grounds heading towards the owlery. She could hear the hoots from the owls before she even got there.
Heading up the stone steps towards the entrance she gripped the letter more tightly, when she got there she wasnt really expecting to see someone else. Though the scene before her made her smile, he was scolding his owl and the owl clearly wasnt paying much attention. Attacting the letter to the foot of her own owl she ruffled her feathers. "Go fast, okay?" With a hoot, the owl was out of the window and out of sight befor Kellcie had even had a chance to turn around.
She stood in the owlery, watching as the other guy leaned against the window. "Having some owl trouble?" she asked with a smile. The feathers from various owls were all over the floor, along with thier droppings.

Rylan heard the door to the Owlery open and glanced over his shoulder. A girl entered the tower room, a letter in one hand. Rylan recognized her after a moment. She was in Ravenclaw, though older than himself. Rylan watched for a moment as she tied the letter to her owl's leg before glancing back out the window. His owl had now disappeared from view and Rylan could only hope that Jack made it to the right place in the right amount of time. He let out a sigh, running a hand through his messy hair. The sky was a clear blue today, not a cloud in sight. It made the view from the tower that much more spectacular.
Rylan heard the girl speak and turned to look at her. He grinned. " Yeah actually. Jack isn't the most reliable owl. He has a bad sense of direction." Rylan explained, rolling his eyes slightly. " I'll be lucky if my letter makes it home before next Christmas." He added, turning back to the window. " You're in Ravenclaw, right?" He asked, hoping he was right. He was almost positive he had seen her around the common room before.

The view from the window was almost breathtaking today. She hadnt ever seen the sky so clear, or at least not for a long time. Even the forest looked welcoming, though she knew otherwise. She knew only too well, the tales of the forest. And it shook even the smallest bones inside her body thinking about it.
"Im sure he'll try his best" Kellcie said looking at him, "So long as he does, you cant really expect more from him, can you?" she smiled as she glanced out of the window. Her own owl hadnt got a name, it was just owl. How original. She hardly bothered to name her animals, she had been running a zoo back home in her bedroom the amount of things in there. "Oh.. uhm.. Yes.. Yes im in Ravenclaw, Kellcie... 7th year" Now she thought about it, he did look familiar. Though she wasnt sure if he was in her house or in another that she shared a class with.

Rylan smiled. " Yeah, I suppose. I'm too attatched to get rid of him anyways." He admitted. " How pathetic." He laughed. He had gotten his owl as a gift for his First Year at Hogwarts. Even then, Jack had been a little loopy. Still, it was his own. Rylan couldn't help but care for the animal.
He nodded as the girl verified she was in fact a Ravenclaw. He was sure he recognized her. " Thought so. I'm a Ravenclaw 5th Year." He explained to her. " Rylan Maddox." He gave her his name. It was nice to finally be getting a chance to be meeting someone new. Especially when they were in your own house.

"Besides, he's cute" She smiled. Still looking out of the window and over onto the grounds. It sure was peaceful down there, for a change. "Its not pathetic that your attached to something thats yours. Im attached to mine, i would never get rid of her"
"Rylan Maddox?" She asked again, "I think i know who you are, but i could be wrong" She looked at him, she had definatly seen him around, though even in her own house, she never payed much attention to those younger than her. Though Rylan seemed like an interesting person, in his own little way.
