Andie stopped crying for a second and looked up startled by the voice. It was Adriana. "Oh Adriana, I don't know what to do!" she cried as the tears took over once more.

Adriana didn't know what to do either. "It's alright," she said still not entirely sure what had happened. "You'll get through it just fine. But tell me what happened so that I can at least try and help." She wanted to help, she really did, she just didn't know how she could until she knew what the problem was. "Shh..." she said as she patted Andie on the pat gently.

Andie took a deep breath to calm herself and began to tell her tale. "Well, you know Russell Parkhurst right? Well, we met by the lake last year when I was a sixth year and he a seventh, and... I fell in love with him. I guess you could say it was love at first sight... and I told him, and he said that he really liked me but that he wanted to take things slow and I agreed. But then he disappeared soon after and I never heard from him until he came back a few weeks ago. And we were talking, he just left, and I tried to get him to understand how I feel, but he didn't even want to try and see if the relationship would work!" Andie took a shaky breath and looked up, her face was flushed and her emerald green eyes sparkled with tears. Andie sighed and bit her lip. "Why doesn't he want to at least try?" she whispered softly.

Oh no, Adriana thought. Boy problems. Boy problems always turned out to be the most complex and complicated things. Not only that, but they were also usually impossible to fix and this one definitely seemed to be a hard one. "Oh, Andie," she said as she leaned back on her knees. "I can't say I know him very well, but I'm sure he's not nearly as wonderful as you think he is. And there will always be others." She knew she must sound so stereotypical, but she couldn't help it. "And besides, if he's a lying arsehole then he's not someone you should be with anyway." She sighed. She really didn't have any experience in the matter so she hoped that she was giving relatively good advice. She smiled down at Andie hoping to make her feel a little better.

Andie lifted puffy crying eyes. "But he was wonderful! He was sweet, kind, funny... I thought he loved me! Now I see I was nothing but a fool..." she whispered as she wiped her eyes.

"No, no, nol," Adriana started, taking a deep breathe to give herself time to think of a response. "You're not a fool. If he led you on like that then I don't see why you're the fool. He is. Don't beat yourself over something you couldn't control. I hate to sound cliché, but there are plenty of others out there that aren't pathetic arseholes." She sighed knowing full well that this was a truly complicated matter and that perhaps she wasn't the best at comforting others.

Andie sniffled. "I just don't understand... I really thought we could make it work." she said softly. Andie looked up, "If he didn't love me, then why the hell did he lead me on?" she asked her voice trembling with anger.

"Like I said," Adriana replied, smiling slightly. "Arsehole... Obviously no Prince Charming. But maybe, just maybe, he thought he wasn't an arsehole and could actually have feelings for another person." She shrugged her shoulders vaguely. "But as I said before, I don't know the guy so I can't really make any judgments." She was being a bit facetious and maybe it wasn't the time for that; she didn't really know. "Would it be too much if I asked whether or not he said why he did... broke up with you?" she asked quietly as if her soften voice would make the question sound less harsh.

Andie snorted. "Break up? Please! We never went out! That's what was I was trying to do, was to get him to go out with me!" Andie sighed. "You're right, he's nothing but an inconsiderate jerk who's not worth my time or energy!" then she groaned, "But what about quidditch?"

"What about Quidditch?" Adriana asked, having no idea where Andie was going with this. Then she was hit by a sudden wave of understanding. "Oh... Oh right. Um... Oh, I don't know. Have Parker accidentally aim a bludger at his head. Maybe it will knock some sense into him or at least give him a concussion." And there I go being facetious again, she thought a little guiltily. "Anyway, that's the spirit. You don't need him," she said, smiling a bit more. "I can't say it's not going to be awkward though, but you'll get through it fine." She suspected that maybe she shouldn't have added that little bit on the end, but it was too late to take it back now. "So, do you feel any better? Can you function?" she asked half-jokingly.

Andie laughed at the bludger idea. "That does sound like a good idea. Even if it doesn't knock some sense into him or give him a concussion, at least it'll make me feel better!" Andie smiled. "Yeah, I think I'll be okay. I'll just ignore him during practice... oh wait, I said I never wanted to talk to him again, so looks like I'll be ignoring him 24/7!"

Adriana smiled. She was glad she had helped a little, though she couldn't help but feel a little bad for the boy who had never wronged her personally. "Oh, well..." she said, "That's going to be a little tricky I'm sure, but at least you don't really even need to talk to him during a match." She smiled again. "Well," she started as she rose to her feet, "I guess my job here is done. So, where are you off to now?" She held out her hand to give Andie a lift up if she needed one.

Andie took the hand offered and pulled herself up. "Off to the lake. Wanna come?"

"Well, I guess so," Adriana said, faking reluctance. She grinned a moment later. "I've got to drop this book of first," she said, pointing at the book still on the floor. "Just in my dorm room though, not far." She bent over and picked up the book before going quickly up to her room. She dropped the book on her bed and ran back down. "Okay. I'm ready now." She felt that maybe she was acting a little too excited and decided she'd calm down a little before saying anything else.

Andie rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Adri? Unless I'm a duck and didn't realize it, we share a dorm! Remember? We're both in Ravenclaw, and we're both girls. So your dorm is my dorm as well. Which makes it our dorm!" Flashing a quirky grin Andie stepped out of the common room entrance.
((i'll start the lake thread later. need to get some stuff done))
