Striker looked at Grace, his eyes widening as he heard her words, though failing to delve beneath the painful memories of his friend. He slowly realised what she had said, registering nothing but a flicker of pain as he looked away from her, closing his eyes as his face filled itself with a look of disappointment.
For several moments he remained quiet and breathed out hard, his hands forming fists and shaking violently. He looked up, his face turning a deep red as his eyes narrowed deeply.
'No man should raise his fists to a defenseless girl...' He said, fighting the urge to growl loudly. He thought about what she had said and had the one undeniable question that could not be avoided. 'Did you do the act of killing him?' He spoke quietly, his voice barely registering above a whisper, but he knew that Grace could hear him.

Grace laughed and whimpered at the same time. "That's true," she agreed. She never understood why her father had beat her and it was something she would always wonder and worry about. She laughed as she remembered how protective Girty, Bog and Jac had been over her when her father had passed away. She was truly blessed to have such amazing friends.
She wiped her cheeks and eyes, little jolts of laughter still shaking her body occasionally. But Alluran's question shocked and disgusted her. "What?" she spluttered. She stared at him, mouth slightly open, through narrowed eyes. She wondered what would make him ask such a question. "Of course I didn't!" she said, indignantly, "he died of a heart attack but I was the cause of it. Just seeing me gave him the heart attack. Why would you ask such a thing?"

'Then you should have nothing to fear, he died through his own fears and grief and seeing at how his daughter has grown into a fine young woman, despite his beatings, killed him. You did nothing.' Striker said, speaking with a little amusement in his tone. 'You would actually believe that I would declare you his killer? I wouldn't do such a thing. I know you wouldn't hurt a person, unless those closest to you were under threat and that is an admirable trait to have.'
He smiled at her warmly, despite his own fears and feelings. 'You've never been dull or boring, never hurt a soul, why would you kill your own father? Even if he did beat you as a child.' Striker said, continuing on from before. 'It takes a lot of strength to admit something of that level...

Grace had over reacted and she hung her head. She felt warm tear run down her nose and drip off the end. She listened to Alluran. He was very wise and Grace smiled at the floor. She sniffed and looked up at her friend when he said she had an admirable trait. She managed a weak smile. He was saying exactly what she needed and that's what friends were for, she decided.
"I've never thought, " she said, absently staring into the fire, "that what I had was strength." She wiped her cheeks and smiled, embarrassed. She didn't mean to pull their conversation down but sometimes when a person needs to talk the nearest person is the one who is to hear. "Thanks," she said softly, holding back tears.

'You're welcome, Grace.' Striker said quietly, smiling at her. He knew only a little of what she must've gone through, his own experience possibly nothing compared to what she had to go through. He looked away, stretched his hands out and yawned as he felt his body quiver in a relaxing way.
'There's one more thing; if you want to cry don't hold it back, let it out.' Striker said, shrugging slightly. 'If I need to cry, I do. Yeah, I'm a guy but I just do it, regardless of who's around.' He had a smile on his face, showing a slightly mischievous side.

Grace was smiling again. Smiling like nothing could dampen her spirits now and she couldn't keep herself from jumping up and throwing her arms around Alluran's neck. She hugged him tight for a moment then stood back, smoothing out his clothing. "Sorry," she said, smiling still. She no longer needed to cry, he had made her smile and touched her and that was enough.

Striker cried out slightly when Grace hugged him, but quickly returned the embrace, his smile showing an awkward tinge to it. Then came the patting of his clothes, his face showing full well what he thought; what is she doing?
'It's ok,' Striker said, looking at her oddly, but smiled knowing she was alright now.
'Ever need to talk I'll listen, or just sit there and pretend to do so, or I just create a clone to do so as I walk away whilst looking over my shoulder and thinking she's crazy!' He said jokingly, stepping away in case she tried to hit him.

Grace smiled at Alluran. Thought he acted the tough guy she could see that he was not all that tough. She had never been particularly good friends with him but she felt that she understood him better now, a little closer. This was her way of showing affection and she simply smiled at him.
She nodded at his offer, happy someone was there for her, but soon her mouth fell open with the smile still dancing there. She giggled and rolled her eyes. "That's you to a tee," she laughed, "always the sensitive one." She could always count on Alluran to be the one to crack a joke.
