Sophie couldn't stop giggling, the joke hadn't even been that funny, in fact had there even been a joke? She was really beginning to wonder if somebody was playing some sort of hilarious trick or jinx on her. Though laughter was all very well and good it was now starting to become just a little bit painful as she stumbled into the Gryffindor common room laughing loudly and arousing the attention of nearly every occupant. Unable to apologise as she knew speaking would only make her faint, she collapsed into the nearest chair, nearly sitting atop of a fifth year Gryffindor, he gave her a scowl and she tried in vain to give a sheepish aplogetic look; it just didn't come.
All the way from Hogsmeade she had been in a fit of uncontrollable giggles, whilst Kayleigh and Georgina had gone off to sip butterbeers all day long, Sophie had ventured into Honeydukes wishing to see if they had any vacancies for a job, unfortunately they hadn't, she had then somehow got talking with a Slytherin guy, well she thought he'd been Slytherin and as soon as he told a joke she hadn't been able to stop herself from laughing; continuously at everything he had said. She hadn't been subconciously falling for him had she? No never, the only possible explanation was his putting a spell on her, though he had been sweet enough to walk her all the way back to the common room. So she ahd to be thankful for that, but the pain was slowly becoming unbearable; would nobody come to her aid? Dying from laughter, what a way to go? She thought feeling rather faint.

Poppy was sitting in the corner of the room. She had decided to separate herself totally from the rest of her house mates and get some homework done! It was a good idea, until Poppy got bored and started making paper dolls with her wand. She had figured out how to cut them out, but she had yet to cast a correct spell to get them to walk around and dress themselves in the pretty outfits she had made for them.
Poppy tried again. Nope, the doll just kind of went "poof" and scattered down in shreds. Poppy sighed. She stopped and knit her brow. What was that noise? Someone had the serious case of the giggles. Poppy stuck her head out from the little book fort she had made, and saw a much older girl nearly squash a fifth year. Poppy stifled a laugh.
The second year got up and walked slowly towards the girl. She was sitting alone, so obviously no one had told a joke. Maybe something was tickling her, but she didn't seem to be trying to hold any certain area of her body. Maybe she was crying. Odd sort of way for a girl to cry. No, definitely laughter. Poppy thought.
Poppy crept up behind the chair the girl was sitting in. Poppy shrugged her shoulders. Maybe she should be laughing too. Poppy suddenly let out a great laugh, a giggle, and a belly laugh. She rounded the chair and plopped down on the sofa next to it, still laughing with the girl. Poppy looked around, her stomach bouncing up and down. Why was she laughing? She didn't know, but now that she had started she wasn't sure she could stop.

Sophie was incredibly surprised when somebody happily joined in her laughter, if she'd been able she would have laughed harder, but she was already far past breaking point. Her stomach was in stitches and she was finding it increasingly difficult to breath, her breath came out in short little gasps with her striving to gulp down as much life giving oxygen as possible.
Feeling increasingly woozy and sick Sophie decided enough was enough, this really was some sort of dastardly spell, where was her wand when she was in dire need of it? Then she remembered Elijah was borrowing it as he'd misplaced his own and needed it for classes that day; his need had been greater than hers at the time so she'd gladly given the favour; now she was beginning to regret it. Staring in wonderment at the girl who had joined her laughter she pleaded openly with her eyes, "Help..me.." She managed to gasp in between rasping breaths and loud laughter. It was too much though; toiling all the way back to the castle had taken it out of her, feeling darkness take over she slipped drozily from the couch onto the hard cold floor beneath. Blackness took over...

Laughing rather loudly now, Poppy was still confused. There was no obvious reason for this girl to be laughing. Poppy's stomach started to her, and she was getting fed up. But then she realized something. Perhaps the girl couldn't stop!
As poppy heard the words 'help.me.' She immediately stopped laughing. Her mouth opened wide. The second year didn't really now what to do. "ummm." Poppy looked around, worried. No one was in the common room any more. No one was there to help her.
Poppy ran to get her wand she had left in the corner of the room. By the time she had gotten back she could see the girl slumped over on the floor beneath her. "OH MY GOODNESS!" Poppy gasped. She ran over to the girl. She had died. She had literally died from laughing! Poppy was sure she would never laugh again. She tried to get the girl off the ground, but the seventh year was much bigger than Poppy. Instead, the small Gryffindor grabbed a cushion from the couch and placed it gently under her head.
Ok, at least she was breathing. However, Poppy had no idea what to do. Was there a spell she should perform to wake her up? Poppy sat helplessly next to the passed out girl, slumped up against the foot of the chair. She didn't want to leave the girl. What if she stopped breathing!
Poppy wanted to cry, but that would make her seem even more like a baby. She just wished someone would come down the stairs and help her. Please please please!! Poppy thought.

Having sadly just hindered a third year Gryffindor from completing a daring prank; Will wondered why he had been assigned as a prefect. He really didn't understand, he was one of the least likely candidates, but as Elijah had so rightly pointed out, to stop him from complaining about it forever, the professors had likely done it on a purpose to cease his own mischief making; which had indeed largely worked. He still played up consistently in lessons but on duty he was relatively serious; some of the jinxs were just so hilarious to watch though, he couldn't help but crack a smile at them, or laugh very loudly, much to the shagrim of any teacher or fellow prefect present.
So his mood wasn't particularly bouncing and happy, but not sad and depressed either, very little managed to get him down completely, and the kid had likely continued with his villanious prank, especially when Will had let some invaluable advice to make it even more effective.
Seeing solely two people in the common room he remembered everyone else was likely having fun in hogsmeade, damn prefect duty he thought furiously. Yet then he noticed the curious position the girl..wait a minute is that Sophie? Sleeping on the floor, how ridiculous, the sofa's are actually comfortable, but then again Soph does some weird things. He thought grimly. It slowly dawned on him the gravity of the situation when the young girl, he vaguely recognised; from blushing so when he had winked at her, seemed quite distraut. "What's wrong?" He asked strolling swiftly over to them.
Jumping to the wrong conclusion instantly due to his strong feelings towards the prone Sophie, he demanded now coldly "What have you done to her? Whatever she did there was no need to knock her out," Crouching by he side he added "like a bloomin light, cor, did you hit her or something?" He asked filled with wonder for a moment, but remembering his duty as a prefect he added "spill the beans."

Distraught, Poppy could do nothing but sit a wait. Wait, was that a voice! A rather good looking boy, whom Poppy had a slight crush on (he winked at her in the hall once!) had entered the common room. Poppy's eyes lite up as he asked what was wrong. She opened her mouth to tell him about the laughing and the passing out, but she didn't have time before he started accusing her!
Poppy's hope faded, fast. It was more than the second year could take. I mean gosh, she was only twelve. Her eyes welled up instantly, and she burst into tears. Her face became instantly red, but she felt better. Wiping her nose and eyes with the sleeve of her yellow pajamas, she stopped crying.
"I-I d-didn't do a-anything to her!" Poppy sniffed out. She took a deep breathe and talked more calmly. "I was minding my own business when I heard her laughing." Poppy said, her bright blue eyes still large and wet. "I thought something was funny and came over to join her, but then.." Tears fell from her eyes again. "T-then she gasped out 'help.me.' and she fell over. I d-didn't know w-what to d-d-d-oooo!" Poppy burst into tears again. The little girl was scared for the older girl.
"Can you w-wake her up?" Poppy said to the boy, who was still really cute even though a crisis was going on.
