Ashley came into the common room after a long cold walk around the grounds. She went to explore, she loved how new everything here was. She also loved being in Gryffindor the most, everyone was sooo nice. She sat down and looked at the fire, she wondered where everyone was.

"Hello there!" came a booming voice from across the room. Ayira marched proudly down the stairs from the girl's dormitories, beaming. She'd just finished her essay ahead of schedule which was a major accomplishment in the life of the avid procrastinator. She'd expected a lot of people to be in the common room once she'd arrive, but alas that was not the case. Her smile flickered until she noticed she wasn't entirely alone. There was but one wee first-year sitting in front of the fire, however, which was good enough for the 5th year.
"Aww... a wittle firstie," she cooed, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. She half walked, half pranced up to the girl and stood over her still grinning. "Hello, little firstie. How are you doing?" she asked in a gentle manner, giving the girl a quick one over. The girl seemed harmless enough, as most first years do, so Ayira was pleased. she plopped down on a chair not to far away and continued to stare intently at the girl. Ayira knew she must look like quite the fool, but she couldn't help it. It was just how she was.

Ashley looked at her and raised her eyebrows "firstie" Ashley thought to herself, how small that made her feel. "i'm fine thank you, how are you" Ashley said trying to make friends before enimies.
she turned around looking thought the common room for other people "ok, i don't wanna seem like a bogart but i would perfer you call me by my name, which is Ashley, not firstie, as for the fact i may be small and new but i can pack a big bite, if you know what i mean" ashley said almost angryly

"Whoa there, girlie. There's no need for biting me head off," Ayira replied, taken quite aback. "I'm no psychic now. I don't know peoples names straight off the bat. It was just a term to address you. I'm not going to be calling you that for the rest of your life... unless you keep talking to me like that." She said the last part under her breath. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like for the niceties to continue," she said, a smile once more spreading across her face. "It's nice to meet you Ashley. My name is Ayira, but you can call me Ra-ra or... Ayira." She hoped she'd come across as pleasant enough. This first year seemed to be a bit confrontational. Ayira would have to be aware of that in the future. Don't wanna spoil any good tricks on this one, she thought remorsefully.

As Ayira had finished up talking to the first year, another student walked in, someone she'd never seen before. Probably a transfer, she told herself mentally. She glanced quickly over at the girl. The girl seemed tired and a little out of her element. But that's no reason to ignore her, Ayira thought. Not knowing what else to do, Ayira smiled and waved pleasantly at the new girl and said a quick, quiet, "Hello" before turning back to the first year.

Lizzie headed towards the Gryffindor common room after a walk in the grounds. The air had been breezy and the sun setting was a really enjoyable view. The portrait of the fat lady stopped her.
"Password?" she said. Lizzie hesitated for a moment. It still cost her a while to remember these things. She wasn't the most organized person and she often had trouble remembering things. Finally she got it.
"Wattlebird!" she said clearly. The portrait swung open and Lizzie walked in. There were three girls in there. One of them was quite young and she looked bold. Lizzie guessed she was a first year. She was sitting down on an armchair and seemed to be talking to another girl. Lizzie recognized the other girl as a 5th year whom she had talked to a while ago. Her name was Anisha? No...Aynri? Something like that. She was also sitting on an armchair across from the first year and was beaming. Finally, another girl Lizzie had never seen before was standing a few feet in front of her. She looked foreign. Maybe she is a transfer student like me! thought Lizzie. This thought caused her to feel a little more secure.
"Hi everyone!" she said cheerfully while sitting down beside the first year.
