With every word that came out of her mouth Dan could feel his pulse quicken and his blood boil. His hand was almost inside his robe to pull out his wand when his better judgement kicked in and he fought against the urge. It was hard, he felt his muscles stiffen up as his arm slowly retreated to his side.
Dan said nothing as Loren and Andie swapped pleasantries but it was just wasting more time, time when Dan’s mind was slowly being taken over by irrational behaviour. In the distance he could see the stair well and the huge drop behind it. It would only take a second to pick her up, walk a few spaces and let go.
Trying to shake off this though Dan looked back at Andie in her shinny suit and noisy shoes, but soon his gaze had moved back to Loren. Something was telling him to do it, he had nothing to lose, he could say he was provoked, change the minds of the other present. With a cruel grin Dan took a large step forward then another reaching out he took hold of Loren. One arm swept her legs up and another went under her arms. Many girls would kill to have Dan do this to them, Dan knew Loren would not he could feel her struggling in his grasp but he did not care. He felt strangely stronger with every step he took towards the stairwell. He was almost at the banister, Dan could not hear anything apart form the thumbing of his heart. He reached the edge just one moved would mean Loren Hayes would go falling down many flights of stairs, no one to save her.
Suddenly the sound came back, he could hear the shouts of millions of people, the portraits around them were screaming at him to stop, along with the ear piercing scream of Loren in his arms. He took a step back and dropt Loren onto the floor at his feet. He stumbled backwards his eyes wide, face pale and hands shaking. What had he been doing. His shaking hand reached to as he tried to wipe his dry mouth simply for something to do. He wanted to say something, to apologise but all he could do was fall to the ground and slide down against the wall staring open mouthed, chest heaving up and down.
Had he just ruined everything??

Andie screamed. What the merlin was Professor Hubbles trying to do!? "Professor stop! Don't do it!" she screamed, hoping that the man would come to his senses, thankfully he did, she rushed to Loren, and embraced her friend, "Are you okay?" she turned to Professor Hubbles, "What the hell were you doing!?" she shrieked. "Were you trying to kill her!?"

Loren laughed. 'No, she wasn't all that fit! She couldn't dance at a birthday party without being hospitalized! She made friends who were part of the troupe though... well... she became their fans. Have you ever - '
Loren gasped as Professor Hubbles suddenly swept her off her feet, his face a pale, nonchalant canvas of madness. His features were clenched and full of contained rage, and before Loren could even shout indignantly he was marching toward the top of the stairs a couple of feet away, his fingernails digging into her knees and shoulder as he refused to let her go. 'Let go of me! Professor, stop it, you've won for Merlin's sake! You're not going to - you're not that stupid... you're... let go! Help! HELP!' Loren screamed wildly as she began to kick her legs and beat Professor Hubbles across his chest and face with her fist, but he seemed completely immune to anything. Fear was gripping Loren heart like a vice and she was crying, tears streaming down her face. 'Snap - out - of -it!'
Loren hit the floor hard, her body nearly tipping over the top step as she landed awkwardly on her side. She was completely paralysed in her horror, and as she stared at the steps before her - which were much stepper and longer than she had ever remembered - she felt Andie rush to her side, shouting.
'I almost... I could've...' Loren's mumbles were drowned out by the roar of portraits around her, all of them rushing from frame to frame, discussing what they had just seen. 'Andie I... I... I'm going to KILL HIM!'
Loren pounced to her feet with such energy that Andie was nearly knocked backwards. Every single one of her limbs trembling wildly, Loren produced her wand from her robes. 'SECTUMSEMPRA!'

Andie grabbed at Loren's arm. "No! Loren, don't! You'll get expelled!" she screamed. "Besides," she continued glaring with contempt and hatred at the man she had once admired and even loved, "He's not even worth it." She tugged on Loren's arm. "Let's just go back to the common room, okay?" She walked over to Professor Hubbles, "You are despicable!" she hissed angrily, emerald eyes snapping like the flames of angry fire, "How could you do that!? I knew you didn't like Loren, but I didn't think that even you, would stoop to such cowardly actions. I can't believe I actually loved you!" She took a deep breath, "Yes, I loved you Dan, I don't know how it happened but I ended up falling in love with you! I was willing to do anything for you! Well, now that's over!" She glared with hatred. "I hope you enjoy your life as a lonely bachelor, because that's all you'll ever be!" she hissed as she turned back to Loren

Dan should just hear shouting around him, he held out his shaking hand in front of him unable how to stop it. He heard the shouts of the students in front of him including Loren. Her shout did not surprise him and did not worry him. Dan was defeated, he had pushed himself too far and broke. Lowering his shaking hand Dan saw the figure of Loren looming over him with her wand drawn. Andie seemed to be tugging at her in vein. There was no way Loren would be moved. And Dan waited, he remained defenceless and waited for her to strike.
Then the spell hit, it sucked all the air out of Dan’s lungs and he let out a blood curdling screen. The pain shot through his body and Dan was paralysed. He could feel the warmth of the blood spreading into his clothes from the hole in his chest. Every breath he took became shorter, painful and he wheezed like an 80 year old after walking up a flight of stairs.
Dan could do nothing but look on at the ever blurring images of Loren and Andie. Suddenly the blur of Anise got closer and he heard her faint voice say something about love. Somehow Dan managed to laugh, it was painful and it brought even more water to his eyes and the sound of blood in his throat gurgled away. Summoning his energy Dan spat the blood out, it dripping down his chin and onto his now red robes.
“Andie, like I care.”
He wanted to say more but his throat was being blocked up by more blood. He deserved this, everything he had done to Loren over the past year was now pilling on top of him and this was his punishment. With another few painful breaths the sounded start to vanish once again from the stairwell and everything become blurry once again. And then came darkness.

Andie just stared. "I know." she replied softly, "And that's what I hate." She sighed, "How could you not see, not care that I loved you?" Then, Professor Hubbles seemed to lose conciousness and she sighed. As much as she couldn't stand the sight of the man, she knew she had to help him. She turned to Ariane, "Go get the nurse, as fast as you can. Run!" she stated to the other girl before turning back to Professor Hubbles. She gently smoothed his hair back, "Don't worry professor, you're gonna be okay." she whispered soothingly.
((just in case anyone is confused, Andie is still in love with Dan, but she also feels a loyalty to her friend and fellow housemate, so she's a bit torn between the two of them at the moment))

Professor Hubbles let out a deathly moan as he slummed on his side, his hand clutching his chest and his pale face became even whiter. His robes were turning from blue to dark red as if by magic. He's going to die, you know, said a frostily calm voice in her head.
'You hate him too! You hate him too!' Loren shouted, grabbing Andie's robes and shaking her, her eyes full of anger and fear. 'He deserved that - we - we both know he did!' What she had just done was filling Loren with pure terror now, and she took a step back from Professor Hubbles, the tips of her shoes tainted by the pool of blood forming around him neatly. Loren's wand rattled against the stone floor as she dropped it, the noise carrying as it rolled down the steps and out of sight.
A flood of dreadful images filled Loren's head now - Professor Hubbles dying, Professor Darrow, her parents, her wand snapping, Azkaban...
You've killed him, Loren. You're going to prison, mocked the cold, rational voice. 'I've never been in trouble in my life! I don't deserve this!' She squealed back, loosing it.
'Andie!' Loren broke into another flood of tears. Falling to her knees she wrapped her arms around Andie, burying her face against her friend's shoulder. 'What have I done?! And you loved him too! Please don't hate me!' She sobbed, trembling, hysterical, her mind racing with the worst possible scenarios.
Some champion YOU'LL make, said the voice.

Andie frantically tried to calm her sobbing, trembling friend. "Loren, shh-shh! I don't hate you!" She knelt down and pulled her friend into a hug, "It's gonna be okay, Loren. But we have to get him help." she murmured as she rocked her friend back and forth. She looked into Loren's terrified eyes. "You will not go to Azkaban! I will do whatever I can to prevent that!"

"There, me lady." Sir Cadogan had come running to find some and he had found Dia walking towards the Astronomy Tower. He had been out of breath, panting heavily, muttering something about a teacher attacking a student. Dia had gathered all her ruffles and followed Sir Cadogan till she past the familiar Ravenclaw common room entrance. Sir Cadogan continued past it and Dia followed.
Dia was coming to a corner and she heard an anxious voice that sounded like Andrea Riley's but she was not certain. Dia ran around the corner and came upon a monstrous sight. Daniel, Professor Daniel Hubbles was lying on the floor, chest gapping wide and gushing blood, and two Ravenclaws standing over him. She ran to Dan's side, falling on her knees. "Daniel," she called into his face, "Professor Hubbles, can you hear me?" He did not respond.
She glanced up at the two Ravenclaws. "What happened here?" she asked, anxiously, irately, "who did this?" She saw the heated glare on Loren's face. "Loren?" she said softly, and turned back to the unconscious professor. She tried to stem the bleeding but the wound was too big. "This is on your head, Ms Hayes," Dia said, not looking at her, "being an intelligent girl I would have taken you to be one of more common sense then this."
Dia pulled out her wand, sat back on her feet, and wipe hair out of her face. "He needs to go to St Mungo's," Dia said more to herself then anyone else. "But for now ..." Dia stood up and, without realising her beautiful baby blue dress was stained an insipid red in the front, flicked her wand and muttered under her breath, "Mobilicorpus." Dan's body levitated a foot in the air and followed Dia as she made her way to the Grand Staircase and the Hospital Wing. "You two," she called over her shoulder, "follow me."

Andie looked up. "Professor Owen!" she gasped. She slowly stood as the professor levitated Dan's body into the air. "Will he be okay?" she asked anxiously, "Please tell me he'll be okay!"

Andie's words comforted Loren for only a few brief moments before Professor Owen came hurtling to Professor Hubbles side, her face stricken with shock as she looked over his punctured, slashed torso. The moment the woman searched Loren and Andie's faces for an explanation, Loren's buldging eyes gave her away, her breath caught in her throat.
This is on your head, Ms Hayes.
'But I... Professor, no!' Loren wailed, covering her mouth, her chest heaving as she felt a panic attack coming on. Azkaban flashed through her mind again, Professor Owen and Andie on the witness stand, pointing their fingers in accusation. 'I didn't know what I was doing! I'm a good student, you should want to keep me!' Loren shouted, shuffling along side the two professors as Professor Hubbles floated along, his head lolled back. Loren wished something she never thought she would - that Professor Hubbles was alright, and that they could pretend nothing had ever happened.
'Will - will I be expelled?' Loren whimpered quietly, unsure which was worse: Professor Hubbles dying, or being kicked out of school.

"Loren, calm down." Andie said soothingly. The tears began to flow down her face as she began to lose control of her emotions, "I won't let them expell you Loren! If they try, they'll have to expell me too for not stopping you! I am at just as much as fault as you!" she stated fiercely, her emerald eyes staring deep into Loren's.

Dia didn't look at the students as the spoke to her, she was concentrating on taking the many stairs two at a time without falling. "Ms Riley," she said, suddenly, "control yourself. If we act quickly a good long while in St Mungo's will be the worst of Professor Hubbles worries."
Another staircase, another danger, "and Ms Hayes, you are not going to go to Azkaban. Detention for a very long time perhaps but you are almost finished with school in any case, suspending you at this point in your education is futile is out of the question." Dia said nothing more but concentrated on getting to the Infirmary on the First Floor, of all places.
((and it continues in the Hospital Wing at Bleeding Teachers))

Andie took a deep calming breath, "You're right, I have to calm down." she stated. She looked at Professor Hubbles. "You're gonna be okay." she whispered as she leaned down and kissed the forehead of the man she loved. "I know you will be." She gave a small smile. "I love you Dan." she stated softly. She turned back to Professor Owen, "Alright, I think I'm okay now."

Dia watched Andrea kiss the professor on the forehead and sneered. What does this girl think she is doing? she grumbled. She managed to keep her disgust for this abominable behaviour. When the Ravenclaw said she loved him, however, Dia stopped dead in her tracks.
"Ms Riley," she squeaked, quite exasperated, "kindly refrain from behaving thus in my presence. You are old enough to realise the serious repercussions of your actions, both of you, but the moral repercussions are too enumerable to mention." She glared at the girl for a moment longer before setting off again at a quicker pace, Dan still floating behind her dripping. "And he is Professor Hubbles to you two, kindly remember that."
