Allion slipped onto the bench of the Staff Table, his eyes drawn to something particularly troubling. The ceiling was, of course, enchanted, and the Professor had been studying the stars with a pair of raised eyebrows. Hogwarts wasn't as cheerful as its exterior implied, it seem.
Before he could dwell on the darkness surrounding the castle, and the heavy foreboding feeling, a voice startled him. Looking up, a bit surprised, he remembered that he was a new face and most of the other professors were probably curious.
He smiled to the newest arrival, his thoughts momentarily forgotten.

Dan entered the Great Hall by the side door next to the staff table. He looked up and down the row seeing if he knew anyone there. With a sigh he noticed another new face sitting at the table, however he seemed more interested in the ceiling then any food. With a quizzical brow Dan moved forward and stood by the other Professor.
“I’m guessing then you’re the new Divinations teacher.” Dan gave a small smile and held out his hand. “I’m Dan Hubbles…Professor Hubbles…I teach Charms.”
He gave a flick of his wrist as he said charms, almost as if he was holding an invisable wand. When introducing himself to other teacher Dan always became very nervous, he always thought they would judge him straight away and then start to spread rumours around the staff room. He knew this not the opinion a 25 year old should have about his work colleagues, but it was a niggling fear he could not shake off.

Brianna had been mindlessly stiring her fire whiskey and lime with her finger when someone slipped into the Hall. Another new face at the table, it was hardly a surprise. She licked her finger off and smiled at the new comer who was shortly joined by the new charms teacher.
As facinated as she was with the way the two were interacting, Bree quickly got tired with it. She lookedout over the house tables and smiled gleefully at all she knew. But a slight chattering in her ear brought her back to the new comers. It suddenly occured to her that he must be feeling just as she had when first she arrived. So she stood up and when to were he and the charms teacher were.
'Hi!' she said cheerfully, waving her hand slightly, her fire whiskey glidding into her hand. She stired it with her finger once more and smiled from the one to the other. 'It's it funny how we introduce ourselves, name, rank and subject?' She smiled at each again then added, 'oh yes, I'm Bree ... by the way, Brianna O'Donnell.'

"Hubbles... Hubbles..." Allion ran his fingers across his mug of steaming tea thoughtfully. "Why does that sound so familiar." He smiled and shook the other's hand. He, himself, had always loved the prospect of meeting new people and most of the time such enthusiasm usually kept them away.
"Ah of course, Charms. Very useful subject... How else would my tea stay so warm for hours?" He said seriously, before gently blowing on it and taking a cautious sip. Smiling in satisfaction, he set it back down when another Professor entered his view.
"Ah, O'Donnell. The students are always busy chattering about Quidditch when they should be talking about tealeaves," He grinned in a friendly manner, picking up his fork. "Your name's come up quite a few times in those particular conversations, I must say."
Sending them both a friendly glance, he added, "Allion Vickers, Divination."

Bree smiled and, turning from her fire whiskey, she leaned her chin on her locked fingers and blinked wide eyed at Prof Vickers. 'Really?' she said enquisitivly, 'about me?' The thought seemed strange and exciting, to be takled about with such ferver was quite a surprise. She smiled at the picture of students ignoring their tea cups and feverishly chattering about an up coming game.
Off in her own world, Bree could just imagine how angry Vickers would get about the distraction, which made her smile even wider. 'What a funny thing, students are!' she mused, still in a day dream, 'they always seem to be somewhere else when they're with me but actually with me when they're not!' She giggled girlishly, covering her mouth with one hand and reaching for her glass with the other.
Bree sipped still smiling then added, before setting her glass down, 'a pleasure making your aquaintance.' She locked eyes with Prof Vickers and then looked at Prof Hubbles, 'and you Prof. Girty is one of my most dedicated students, I'm very proud of her progress thus far.' She smiled at the thought and, shaking it away, took another sip of her fire whiskey, finishing it.

As the female professor walked over Dan folded his arms and studied her carefully. The strong smell of alcohol came towards him, forcing his taste buds to begin to water. With a small cough Dan focused on the students in front of him letting the other two get on the conversation. However she mentioned Girty. The one thing that gets Dan’s attention is the mention of his sister.
“She works well then in your class, good. I’m pleased to here it, that girl need to focus on her studies. We do not want her to end up like me.”
Dan gave a small chuckle, looking from one Professor to the other. With a small intake of breath he leaned forward and picked up a glass of Pumpkin juice and took a sip.

Bree smiled knowingly at the professor and conjored another glass but of milk by the wave of her hand. She set a hand onto the cold glass and smiled at the two professors in turn. 'I love milk,' she whispered to the glass and took a sip. As she sat and drank her milk, she began to get the feeling that she had intruded on ... something. Her inquisitive nature perked up making her smile slyly from Vickers to Hubbles and back again. 'You boys are oddly quiet,' she pointed out very innocently, 'any particular reason for that?' She sent inquiring looks to each at them and smiled at Vickers, 'hmm?' Knowing wouldn't make any impact on her life but knowing would put her in the know so she was eager to pry. Besides it sure beat sitting in the semi-awkward silence for much longer then she had to.

Post by Prof. Jack Fagin on Mar 3, 2007 17:35:41 GMT
Fagin had been sitting silently, except for the occasional disturbing sounds of food being ripped apart and ravenously eaten. Belching rather loudly from his latest long draught of firewhiskey he sent a warning glare at the nearest students within hearing distance. Thakfully for their sakes he couldn't espy one who had laughed at his rude manners, not even bothering to excuse himself either. Having barely listened to his colleagues pointless chit-chat, thinking it mostly drivel he decided that he had best not be rude by steering clear of the conversation, but rather join in and be far more rude, he didn't care for any of them but the banter would be somewhat refreshing. "Oh please," he said sarcastically "you're a woman, use your female intuition, they're quiet cause they're bloody nervous around such a fine specimen!" he laughed nearly choking on his firewhiskey, he did so love to make others uncomfortable, "oh did I say all that out load?" he asked sarcastically "good evening my fellow professors, how are we all?" He said laughing once more finding the idea of being courteous quite ridiculous, though he mused I wasn't always this cantankerous and miserable. Grunting he snarled "classes going well then? Bit of discipline I hope!" Taking another gulp of refreshing firewhiskey which he drank like water, he was about to add more when he recieved an answer...

"It is quite refreshing," Allion began as his thumb latched onto the handle of his mug, and he brought it up to his mouth slowly. "To hear something other than schoolwork being talked about during lessons," He smiled at Bree. "Especially Quidditch."
Chuckling slightly at what Hubbles had said, Allion nodded. "Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of teaching Miss. Hubbles." He said, the distant smile still on his face. "Though, if she's resourceful as you say, she's probably one of the high-standard individuals that don't believe in such things as Divination."
Even though he was the professor of such a subject, he looked nonchalant as he began to chew thoughtfully on his meal.
As a new character arrived, however, Allion felt himself most intrigued. Grinning slightly, he watched as the man cast a glare around him, before tilting his head in agreement.
"Oh yes. I'm always such a recluse when it comes to women, have no idea how to act around them." He sent Bree a playful wink before holding out a hand. He had a feeling this new Professor wanted to see a sturdy handshake and hear less about willowy subjects.

Shaking the man's hand vigourously and firmly, chiding himself for wanting to crush his hands too, Fagin smirked as he admitted he was poor when it came to women. Though he didn't expect much from young men these days he wondered if the man believed it sweet to admit to your defaults in front of a woman. Rolling his eyes at such a thought Fagin said snappishly "perhaps you should practice? I'm sure O'Donnell wouldn't mind," though he barely knew his female colleague; in fact only from a drink in the pub and perhaps once or twice in the staffroom too, he believed he had judged her character correctly; as quite out-going and fiesty. "You could do with some lessons," he muttered having failed to notice the secret wink that passed between the two young teachers. "Back in my day there was proper courting, not this nonsense now when people just go out willy nilly." He moaned remembering some eventful times in his past.

'Personally I find willy nilly a lot more fun,' Jonathan said from behind him, having seemingly appeared from no where. 'And how is anybody in this bloody profession supposed to court anyone? Can't go five minutes without some midget banging on my door trying to grass on whoever hexed him...' He picked up a bottle of port and poured it into the nearest glass, uncaring if it had already been used or not. 'Can't remember the last time I saw a woman - aside you, Brianna - that didn't remind me of that fat girl in Gryffindor who won't stop following me...' he suddenly caught sight of the student in question, grimacing as she wiggle he stubby fat fingers in greeting.
Realising the congregation was looking at him a little strangely, he grumbled under his breath and flopped down between Fagin and Allion (unphased by the fact that there was actually no seat there).

Unable to stop himself letting out a small laugh he listened to what the others had to say. “I have to agree with Jonathan there. You do seem to be the only female around this place.” Dan gave a small glance over towards her, giving her a quick check over then turned back to his food. “Not that you compare to the women I met in Brazil.”
Stabbing a potato onto the end of his fork Dan shoved it just as brutally into his mouth, however he chewed it very slowly as he looked out over the hall full of children. He saw the particular Gryffindor that Starsmore was referring to and tried to reframe from laughing. As she looked over at the staff table he shot her a wink before turning his head sideways to look over at Fagin. This was a man he had never really met before, but had heard a lot about.
“You sound like you talk from past experience there Fagin. What dark romances has your office seen?”
Dan gave him a small cheeky smile, he felt like a student who was teasing a teacher about a rumour they had heard.

Grinning evilly to himself Clarence snaps his fingers and sends a small spark at Proffesor Hubbles before apparating to the other end of the table before he gets seen.
"Another you require professors?" he asks innocently, with only a small glint in his eye

Dan blinked slowly trying to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him. He was convinced at first there was a spark aimed at him and then a creature at the end of the table. With the realisation that there was a house elf in front of him Dan could not help but chuckle. When he asked if he would like another Dan looked at his empty goblet.
“Erm….yes that would be very nice of you thank you.”
Unsure what to do he placed the goblet onto the table and refused to take his eyes off the house elf in front of him.

Bree giggled uncontrollably as Jack joined in the fun. She always enjoyed speaking to him, he was like the old cranky family member who is always rude to everyone and who you can't help but laugh with. She put a hand on his shoulder and shook her head, "that's by far the nicest thing I've heard all week!"
In her own little world, Brianna didn't stop laughing. And when Allion winked at her, the laughter did not stop. By the time Jonathan joined them, she was rolling around in her seat, clutching her aching stomach. Thanks to Daniel's good, sensible thinking Bree was afforded the opportunity to calm herself.
As relaxed in her chair, breathing steadily, and took a sip of her - she gasped. Holding her glass upside down, she sobbed, "my drink is finished!" She held a hand to her quivering lip, giggles forgotten, and stared at her empty glass. Luckily, right at that moment, a house elf appeared. "Clarence?" she called softly, "could you please organise another bottle of firewhiskey for me? Please?" She blinked at the house elf, hoping he could help.
